“Desperate Housewives” star Dana Delany turned down the role of Carrie on “Sex and the City”

Dana Delany has opened up about turning down the role of Carrie in “Sex and the City.”

The actress and multiple Emmy winner, who first hit it big as Nurse Colleen McMurphy on “China Beach,” is enjoying currently stardom again on “Desperate Housewives.”

But the “Desperate” star also passed on the role of Bree on the hit ABC show before agreeing to play newbie housewife Katherine.

Delany told the L.A. Times: “I’d hate to be thought of as the person who turns everything down,” and says she has an explanation for how she goes about choosing roles.

Turns out that the Irish-American actress was simply trying to avoid type casting.

“[‘Desperate Housewives’ creator Marc Cherry] had offered me the role of Bree, but I had just done ‘Pasadena,’ and I thought the role was too similar to that, and I don’t really like to repeat myself,” she said.

“I’ve never ever been in this for the money. I just like to do what challenges me. Thankfully, Marc circled back. That’s unusual in Hollywood. Usually when you say ‘no,’ they hold it against you for the rest of your career. I’ve experienced that.”

The experience Delany alludes to could be her rejection of “Sex and the City,” which she passed on for similar reasons.

“I had done a movie called ‘Live Nude Girls’ with Kim Cattrall that was somewhat similar. It was women sitting around talking about sex,” Delany said.

“[‘Sex and the City’ creator] Darren Star was a friend of mine, and he had joined up withCandace Bushnell and came up with this idea and he asked if I’d be in it. It was very much in the early stages, and I had just done ‘Nude Girls’ and ‘Exit to Eden’ and I just said to Darren, ‘I cannot do a show with “sex’”in the title.’ People will lynch me if I do one more thing about sex.”

Thought we would kick off the week with the CMA winner for Group of the Year…Lady Antebellum!  Watching their video “Need You Now”, I must admit I was a little lost.  The video got interesting though with intro of the random Masquerade party…giving it a little bit of a twist and not ending up with the award for Sappiest Video of the Year!  I give this video a 7!

People could expend more energy playing the Wii Sports games or doing aerobics and yoga with the Wii Fit than during a brisk walk, the researchers found.

The study said a third of the activities on the games console required energy expenditure that is the equivalent to “moderate intensity exercise” of the kind the Government recommends to keep fit and healthy.

It comes after the Wii became the first games console to be endorsed by the NHS and elderly people are taking up the games to stay active in residential homes.

More than 50 million Wii consoles have been sold globally since it was launched in 2006. As well as traditional video games, there are a range of sports and a balance board for players to stand on to practice activities from skiing and yoga to dance and aerobics.

PARIS, Nov 15, 2009 (AFP) – France midfielder Jeremy Toulalan and central defender Eric Abidal have both been ruled out of Wednesday’s World Cup play-off second leg tie against Ireland because of injury.

Toulalan has a groin injury while Abidal, who started Saturday’s first leg in Dublin which France won 1-0, has a thigh problem.

The eventual winner of Wednesday’s Stade de France clash qualifies for the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

Zac Robinson was trying to make a statement, and he was doing a dang good job at it while he rushed up the gut of the Texas Tech Defensive line.

With 99 yards rushing Zac was the leading rusher on the team, and played the best game he had all season.

Zac ran left, right and right up the gut and was doing a dang good job at keeping the ball in play and running down the clock.

Zac’s final play of the game had him running out side to the right, after picking up the first down he only had to go five more yards for a touch down, so instead of wimping out and sliding he charged forward.

He lowered his shoulder and so did the defense causing a helmet to helmet collision. This play layed out both Zac and the defensive back for multiple minutes as the stadium stood in silence after the thundering hit they had just heard.

I was standing five feet away and I felt the hit when it happened, it was scary, then both players came around and had to be helped off the field.

I’m glad that Zac walked off the field, and I hope that he gets well soon, and isn’t hurt to bad.

Most jó értelemben, az egész olyan aranyosan lázadós, amikor megjelent első alkalommal Magyarországon a farmer, és mindenki felvett hozzá egy napszemüveget és egy kényelmes sportcipőt… Igen mi voltunk azok, ezen generáció, és lazán beült egy sörre valahova a graffitis fallal szembeni vasútállomás füstős sörözőjébe, ahol mindig jó volt a hangulat..  bár nem hallottad a másik szavát és vágni lehetett a füstöt, de legfeljebb kiült az ember a teraszra a betonból készült virágtartó szélére…. Kőbányai Világos… 6 Ft / ü…  mosolygó áttörés a kamaszkor felől a felnőtté válás útján… A szülők felháborodva ránk csapják az ajtót… vagy mi rájuk… Ők szimfóniát hallgatnak és hippinek neveznek minket a farmer miatt… (Ma már ők is azt hordanak szépen és csendben) A rádióból még szól a Beatles és Elvis, de már többet halljuk inkább Máté Pétert, Szécsi Pált, vagy az Apostolt és éppen ez szól:

I was feeling quite ambitious today, it being eight days since I’d last worked out. I’d wanted to workout yesterday, but since I had a few more beers than I should have Friday night (thanks, Dave), I wasn’t really feeling up to it. I was fairly well-rested today, though, so I couldn’t wait to hit it.

I didn’t have the presence of mind to weigh myself this morning when I first woke up, but I did later on. As I’d suspected, I’m hovering around 210. Here are my readings:

At my height, I don’t look fat, but I know for myself I am. The heaviest I’ve weighed was 220, but I didn’t stay at that weight for very long. I’ve been lingering at 25% bodyfat for the past few years. My goal is to stick to this routine at least until June and gradually introduce some form of aerobic activity. I loathe cardio, but since I’m only working out once a week or less, I think I can suffer the boredom. I’ll be conscious of my body composition as I integrate cardio with my overall routine and scale it back if I see it’s adversely affecting my lean body mass. I’ll probably work myself up to no more than 45 minutes of brisk walking, treadmill, or Nordic Track work three to five days a week. Some people will say that’s too much, but I’m going to experiment with it and see for myself. I want to do this as much for the health benefits as for fat burning. It will be low intensity, so I don’t think it should have much impact if any on my recuperation. I’d mentioned in a previous post that I intended to add cardio to my routine but haven’t yet, mostly because I simply don’t like doing it and it bores me. Now, I’ll probably just wait until the beginning of the new year to add it in, though I may start sooner.

I just bought a used Android phone off eBay (an unlocked T-Mobile G1) since my iPhone was stolen in Manila. I’d been using a program called gNotes to log my workouts as I trained, but that had stopped working for me before my phone was stolen. Anyway, I’m now using a program called GDocs, which synchronizes with Google Docs. It works with spreadsheet and word processing documents and will work when offline. I used it today, and it seems to work well enough for my purposes.

Now, to the workout…

I found a discrepancy in the consolidated program rep ranges for the deadlifts and squats between High Intensity Training the Mike Mentzer Way and The Wisdom of Mike Mentzer. While I know the latter was derived from the Underground Seminar, I figured I would merge the rep ranges to include the lowest and highest numbers. I know it doesn’t matter much as long as failure is achieved (what a phrase), but I wanted to include it for my own reference since I have a tendency to use heavier weights for lower reps.

Based on what I’ve done today, I’ll stick with these poundages next workout. I find it difficult to go to failure on squats since I’ve had back problems in the past (strained ligaments and a pinched nerve at my L5 vertebrae). After a number of visits to the chiropractor a couple years ago, my back feels great, but I am conscious of it. I don’t care who you are or how perfect your form is, your lower back will ache when you do squats. That’s just the nature of the beast, especially for people my height and taller. I also felt a lot of pressure building up in my lower abdomen today. I made a conscious effort to breathe and not hold my breath, but I figured better to be a little cautious and be able to workout next week than risk injury. Rather than terminate the set at two reps, I decided to add some partials until my quads burned. It’s hard for me to say if I came close to failure, but I suspect I could have gotten another partial or two. I actually lost count at some point, so eight reps is only an estimate. Next time, if I feel up to it, I think I’ll add the partials regardless of whether or not I have issues, then I’ll try to do one full rep at the end. I expect to be able to do the negative, but I doubt at that point I’ll be able to make it up to a standing position again. Then I will know I’ve hit failure. I need to rely more on the inherent safety of the Smith machine.

Overall, I felt strong today and lifted more weight than I can remember, both in the Smith squats and the narrow grip pulldowns, and I haven’t been able to find a record of me lifting more weight in either of these exercises in my logs.
