I never really thought about the category of horror photography, but apparently its out there, and its completely awesome.

Go over to photographer, Joshua Hoffine’s website, and take a look at his portfolio. Some of the images are just really creepy and imaginative. Some of the pictures seem as if they are out of a horror movie or you could build a storyline around the picture itself.

Also on the website is his blog where Hoffine actually goes into detail on the process of creating the picture; from the make-up effects to the set and props.

I can’t say enough about how these images speak to me. As a child of horror, seeing these brought back some old memories.

Like how for some reason I had bunk beds in my room when I was around 10, even though it was just me in the room. As a kid, the top bunk is always the most appealing…unless you’ve been reading Stephen King’s IT all night, and you begin wondering what might be lurking on the bed underneath you, just waiting for one of your legs to drop so it can grab you with a cold, wet hand.

Or how I used to get a running start to jump into my bed, so I could clear the ground before anything could reach out from under the bed and latch its grip around my ankle and drag me into the hellish abyss of “under my bed.”

Whatever your story is, we’ve all suffered from childhood fears. What Joshua Hoffine has done here is brilliantly recreate the worst of these nightmares. his use of small children and infants is especially poignant, making the images much more powerful.

I applaud him for this too, because I can imagine the legions of horrified mothers and pussified fathers who probably think these images will harm the children in some way. I disagree. While it’s truew the images are graphic and scary, if I was a child looking at them, I might feel a sense of relief to know that adults once felt (and many times still do) the fear…yes, the Fear.

Interessante Bilder, irgendwo hab ich gelesen, sie würden wirken wie Standbilder aus einem Horrorfilm.
Ich bin jetzt zu betrunken um mir eine eigene Beschreibung aus den Fingern zu saugen.

L’artista Joshua Hoffine ha creat una sèrie de fotografies anomenades “After Dark, my sweet” en les que plasma les pors que teniem (i encara tenim) , sobretot quan erem petits.

Des d’ algú que ens agafa la cama quan baixem per l’escala al monstre que tenim a sota del llit.

Apart de la temàtica, les fotos estàn molt aconseguides.
