I don’t advocate domestic violence by any one, and I support abiding by the law, and being as helpful to the police as possible, but I also think that is wise not to make any incriminating statement’s to the authorities, given if the statement’s may be interpreted as a confession.

In that case, I suggest saying nothing, unless your attorney is present,no matter what the police threaten,…

..especially if you may find yourself being guilty.

That is why I am not surprised by Tiger and Elin Woods reluctance to make any further statements to the police today, and I do not blame them for postponing the police interview until Sunday.

I do not expect them to make any statement on Sunday,outside of whatever minor announcement by whatever attorney the Wood’s managed to hire this holiday weekend to help them resolve this messy domestic incidence.

The interview was supposed to take place after 3 p.m. Saturday but was postponed shortly beforehand by Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg of IMG.

On Friday,troopers were asked to return today, said Sgt. Kim Montes, a FHP spokeswoman.

 Woods’ wife, Elin, told troopers seeking to interview Woods that he was sleeping. They agreed to return the next day.

“The Florida Highway Patrol has received information that Tiger Woods and his wife were not available to be interviewed by state troopers, as we had previously scheduled,” said Sgt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol. “Troopers were asked to return tomorrow (November 29th).”

Sgt. Montes has said in an interview that Mr. Woods could be charged with violations but “we always want to give the driver an opportunity to respond first.”

Hopefully they will take some quality time and hire some good legal counsel, and maybe seek some advice from Kobe Bryant , Shaq, Lionel Richie, Michael Jordan, and his many wealthy sports star peers for some good strategy to get out of this very embarrassing public domestic dispute .

They all been through similar issues with their wives and ex-wives. Make an appointment with Kobe Bryant’s jeweler,you may need his services right about now.

This is gong to cost you Tiger, way more than the 4 million dollars that Kobe spent on that make up ring, but it was one of the reason’s why he did not end up in divorce court.

All of this over his little fling with some skank, RachelUchitel,…it could not have been worth it.

I think that Tiger is more concerned with the cost of the damage to his family, his wife, his reputation, and his career.

Convicted felon and former world record holding track star Tim Montgomery on Friday talked about why he started using steroids, as well as his life with former Olympic champion Marion Jones.

Tim Montgomery says he started taking performance-enhancing drugs because he wanted to beat American sprint rival Maurice Greene and become the fastest man in the world.

He states that Maurice Greene really …”got in to my head”…and he became obsessed with defeating him for the title.

Montgomery, the former world 100m record holder, has served 18 months of his sentence for dealing heroin and handling counterfeit cheques, crimes he was convicted of after being banned from athletics for doping in 2005.

“I destroyed myself,” Montgomery acknowledges in an interview with The Times, conducted in the Alabama prison where he spends his days earning 12 cents an hour sweeping leaves. “I’ve been trying to be a man all my life and now I’m in here treated like a kid.”

Montgomery admits he never had any second thoughts about crossing the line that separates clean athletes from drugs cheats like himself and his former partner, Marion Jones.

She has since that time been unapologetic to her relay team members who had to return their medals because of Jones’ cheating, and she has continued to lie on many national TV programs most notably the Oprah Winfrey show.She always comes off as very self-centered, and she appears to be willing to say anything given the chance to weasel out of taking full responsiblity for taking illegal substances to cheat her way into a championship title, that she did not ever deserve.

She was also sentenced to two years probation following her prison term. Jones reported to the Federal Medical Center-Carswell prison facility in Fort Worth, Texas on March 7, 2008 and was assigned prisoner no. 84868/054. Montgomery criticizes Greene for “clowning the other athletes.” And it was after the 1999 world championships in Seville, Spain, that Montgomery decided do something.

Montgomery never tested positive for drugs, but he was linked to the BALCO doping investigation and has admitted that he doped before the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He retired after the ban was imposed in 2005.

Montgomery said he and Jones became an item in 2002 after spending several hours talking on a flight to Rome.

“Two hours later we were alone in a hotel room together. Two weeks after that we were crowned the world’s fastest couple. And six months after that she was pregnant,” said Montgomery, who added that Jones could make herself cry for the cameras.

“Her best work was when she passed a lie detector test.”

American athlete Marion Jones tested negative more than 150 times before her courtroom confession that she had taken a cocktail of drugs before the Sydney Olympics.

“It is still easy to circumvent the anti-doping policies and procedures in place today not only in professional sport but Olympic sport,” a doping agency official says.

The issue of drug-test evasion has been partly addressed by the introduction this year of tough new rules requiring athletes to provide constantly updated information about their whereabouts, despite protests from some that they infringe civil liberties.

The Balco scandal that Montgomery and Jones participated in, has also opened up a new front against the cheats by showing the value of investigative techniques to complement old-fashioned testing, with evidence gathered by federal officers being used to prove drug violations by athletes such as Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery.

The World Anti-Doping Agency,WADA, is celebrating its 10th year in existence , and are the agency credited with outing cheaters like Tim and Marion.

The American law enforcement agencies have agreed to work in partnership with the WADA and are primed to pass on any relevant information.

Such co-operation between sport and government would have been unthinkable before 1999 and is perhaps the greatest achievement of WADA’s first decade.

Doping is no longer just a sport problem. Now everyone is in it together.

On May 1, 2008, an indictment was unsealed that accused the 33-year-old sprinter of dealing more than 100 grams of heroin in the Virginia Beach area over the past year, according to The Virginian Pilot, the daily newspaper in Virginia Beach, Va. Montgomery told the newspaper he knew nothing of the accusations and that his arrest was a “total surprise.”

In October of that year, Montgomery was found guilty and sentenced to five years in jail.

Breaking News- Legendary golf champion Tiger Woods has been seriously injured in a car accident in florida.

The AP reports Tiger hit a fire hydrant and a tree near his Florida home, authorities said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the PGA star hit the fire hydrant and tree as he pulled out of his driveway in his 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle. His airbags did not deploy, and he was not wearing his seatbelts, which is a violation of Florida law.

Woods was taken to Health Central Hospital. Officials there did not have record of him as a patient, though the news release said Woods’ injuries were serious.

Tiger Woods is 33 years old, married and has two children.

It is being reported that alcohol was not a cause for this crash. The crash is currently under investigation, and charges are pending based on the findings of the investigation.

As news breaks on this story, we will be updating this post.

Thanksgiving Day night. A day full of gratitude and even more calories  winds down. The adults wrap up the leftovers and relatives prepare for the long drive ahead. I sit at the kitchen table, a cup of coffee by my side, wondering where the day decided to go and why it made such a point to leave so quickly.

I am known to over analyze, over do, over achieve, over everything. Because of my ability to “over” all in my life, I very often overemphasize the holiday season. I plan for this day all year-long, and I chalk it up in my head to be the season that will never end, it will skip on and on with one perfect moment after another. The holiday season will just stay there implanted in our hearts every single day. Every day there will be a decking of a tree, a singing of a carol, the eating of gingerbread men and a sign of snow in the air. Every night we will turn on the white lights, have a cup of hot cocoa and go to sleep with visions of sugar plums dancing in our heads.

I wish. Really, I do. I decorated in October for this very reason. There is just something special, an indescribable feeling that hangs in the air, from Thanksgiving Day to Christmas Night. But why? Why do we force this beautiful feeling to be slammed between November 24 and December 25? Why do we give ourselves one measly month to be good to one another, to be thankful, to stop and appreciate the scenery?

Of course the holiday season can have its share of chaos and cruelty, many of which will transpire as the stores open at 4a.m. tomorrow, but there does seem to be an undeniable urge to be better to one another. It seems like it always pushes everyone to write a few Christmas cards and help out at a homeless shelter, stop what they are doing and just be with one another. Maybe with great practice we could capture the essence of this season and slowly but surely work it into our everyday life, whether it be Christmas Eve or July 1.

My decision this holiday season is to soak it up for everything that it is. I plan to drain out the holiday season and really appreciate it. Come midnight I will shop, I will be good to my friends and family, I will merrily sing Christmas songs til people beg me to stop. But maybe, just maybe, I will let this “Buddy the Elf” mentality stick around after the advent calendar has ended.

The holiday season has the potential to bring out the best in all of us. Let’s not pack it up again with the boxes of ornaments ready to go up to the attic.

‘Tis the season.. lets not worry about when it is going to fall away from us… It may just be better if we let the holiday season hold us, instead of trying to hold it too tightly.

Got a weird gutfeeling today, I hate when that happens but Im not even gonna write why because then I´ll just think about it more.

This evening I attended my schools OpenHouse and spoke to plenty of younglings, telling about the media course and the school itself, which was very fun
I was actually supposed to stand by a table and talk about the studentcouncil but nobody was interested so…I decided to walk around instead, which was so much more worth it.
Sometimes it feels really cool being a senior student; everybody looks up to you and you feel very old and wise
Plus girl love seniors, right?
Nobody likes me, but thats the way it should be.
However, school here in Sweden is nothing like highschool in for example the states; no highschool musical or american pie, though it would be fun if it was like that.

So guys, before we graduate this year; we gotta fuck every girl of the alphabet in the school!

In reality, what does small things matter after a while? We have to realize that life goes on and changes, we have to realize that the past is the past and should be left as such, if we really want to move on.
We shouldnt ponder about the past, do something about it rather then, than whine about it and letting it drag you down emotionally.
Think forward, not back.
Dont get stuck in the moment, live for tomorrow.

Learn to let go of what you are most afraid of losing, to find peace.

The H1N1 Swine Flu virus knows no borders,has no boundaries, and has absolutely no respect for religious or cultural traditions.

This year at the annual Hajj to Mecca,  Four foreign pilgrims have died of swine flu, the Saudi Health Ministry announced on Saturday.

The Saudi Arabia Health Ministry  said none of the four foreign victims had been vaccinated against the H1N1 virus, as has been recommended by The Health Ministry.

An official statement released by the ministry said all had underlying health problems, including cancer and respiratory illness, AFP news agency reported.

Three of the victims died in Medina and one in Mecca.

The BBC is reporting that….up to three million Muslims from around the world take part in the holy pilgrimage every year, but health officials have expressed fears that it could provide a breeding ground for the virus.

Authorities had tried to prepare for any outbreaks by installing thermal cameras at airports and sea terminals, deploying 15,000 additional health workers and ensuring hundreds of extra beds were available.

It is currently the largest annual pilgrimage in the world,^[1] and is the fifth pillar of Islam, a moral obligation that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. The Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to Allah (God).^[2] The pilgrimage occurs from the 7th to 13th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar. The Health Minister has reported that there are 16 other people that have been diagnosed with swine flu and four remain in hospital in “critical condition”.

He added 12 others had recovered following treatment.

The Saudi government has recommended the elderly, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases and children skip the Hajj this year.

The Saudi government has said all pilgrims need a certificate of vaccination before they can apply for a visa.

This is real people, and this disease is spreading worldwide,at a rapid pace.

I encourage everyone to get a H1N1 swine flu shot as soon as you can.The reports of any side effects are exaggerated, and will cause millions of people to perish from the lack of the vaccine.

Any paranoia surrounding any alledged complications from the shot are totally unsubstantiated, and if those people out there insist on not receiving the vaccine, then we as a society should only expect more mounting mass casualties from the swine flu, as exhibited this weekend, unfortunately in Mecca.

If it can happen in Mecca, it can happen anywhere.

A four-month old infant girl is the latest casualty to succumb to the deadly H1N1 Swine flu virus that is spreading faster than a wildfire across the nation.

The flu pandemic is on the rise and has been allowed to kill at a rate that has gone unchecked, due to the lack of and the fear of taking the Swine flu vaccination.The vaccine has been doled out to a select few qualifying groups of minor children,health workers, and people who supervise and come in to contact with groups of children.

In this latest case, doctors suspect that, since infants under the age of 6 months can not take the current vaccine due to health risk, and the fact that her parents were not allowed to be vaccinated since they are not in a rationing qualifying group, they were all at risk to be infected by the virus.

It is being reported in the media that both of the deceased baby girls siblings had received the H1N1 vaccinations, as their parents value and respect the vaccination program.

The infant had no known underlying medical conditions, according to the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency, and none of the family members, vaccinated or not, tested positive for the virus, so it is still a mystery as to how the infant contracted the disease. They also report that the child had no underlying medical conditions, that has been known to make the virus even more deadly, and has been cited as the cause of dying from the disease.

I suspect that someone kissed the child, or hugged her, as people tend to do with babies, and that would be hard to track, and most Americans do not wash their hands after using the bathroom or sneezing in their hands,which only helps to spread the disease.

“If a child that age — up to 5 years old — gets a fever, shows symptoms, the parents should seek medical care as soon as possible because they can go down the tubes really fast,” County public health officer Wilma Wooten said.

Doctors at the Rady children’s Hospital in San Diego say that this case is unusual because the child exhibited no signs of the flu. She only had a little bit of a cough, but no fever or running nose for about four days.

On the fourth day the mom put the child down to sleep, and 45 minutes in to the babies nap, the mom discovered the child had stopped breathing.

She was rushed to Paradise Valley Hospital in south San Diego and was resuscitated, then flown to Rady’s children’s Hospital, where she died 24 hours later.

Dr. John Bradley of Rady’s Children Hospital stated that…We now know that H1N1 probably had something to do with setting up the baby for not breathing”…

To date, there have been 33 deaths of San Diego County residents linked to the H1N1 influenza and four deaths of non-residents, according to the HHSA. The number of people hospitalized with the virus locally stands at 617!!!

There is only enough vaccines to help 13% of the population, but each of the county’s where the infant died, six public health centers and one immunization clinic have each received between 20 and 60 additional doses of injectable H1N1 vaccine, according to the HHSA.

Those vaccines will be given to pregnant women which is a high risk group that is given priority due the rationing of the vaccinations due to a production shortage.

I am also afraid that the paranoia associated with the fear of the side effects of the vaccination will only help to spread the disease even quicker.I personally know some associates of mine that refuse to be inoculated due to their holistic beliefs, and some people reject it out of pure ignorance.

The problem with all of that is that Americans continue to have deplorable personal hygiene. I have witnessed some who think it is funny to sneeze and cough in the face of some unsuspecting citizen, in a ‘Jackass” inspired joke, and these are the same guys that do not bother to wash their hands after using the restroom.

I would rather risk the side effects of the H1N1 vaccine, than risk having to rely upon the general public to wash their hand,..or for that matter to wash their bodies at all. I know the latter is more of a risk, and I refuse to gamble with my health.

Those with underlying medical conditions experiencing influenza-like symptoms should contact their doctor immediately, according to the Health and Human Services Agency .

County health officials again encouraged people to stay away from work or school if they have influenza-like symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.

Please practice safe and sane pristine personal hygiene…our lives depend on our cleanliness!!!

This is where the Sum mode becomes useful. Pushing the springloaded switch into the Sum mode causes the detector to start a multi-tone ID and averages all of the coil passes over the target. The tone ID has nine different tones and relates directly to the bar graph segments. The higher up on the graph the target is, the higher the pitch of the audio signal. Averaging the coil passes over the target gives the detectorist the ability to get rid of most of the signal noise that prevents making an accurate target identification. Here’s how it works: when the detectorist gets a target signal that he wishes to check out, he pushes and holds the Mode switch in the Sum position. Shortening his coil sweep to only a two or four inch sweep he passes the coil over the target three to seven times. The short multiple sweeps give the microprocessor the chance to sum the passes and average them. During the sweeps the audio ID will start at the lowest signal and will get progressively higher in pitch until there is no more change. When this happens the detector is giving the most accurate ID possible. Then the user can decide if he wants to dig or ignore the target.”

Traduco e adatto velocemente questo testo per i non anglofoni:
“La modalità SUM (Italiano: Somma) è un’altra funzione che può aiutare a identificare i target. Mentre il detector è in modalità DISCRIMINAZIONE o ALL METAL, il display mostra le informazioni del target prendendole dall’intera spazzolata della piastra. Ogni volta che la piastra passa sopra un target, il microprocessore genera una nuova lettura ID del target. Mentre ciò può essere utile durante la ricerca generale, può confondere l’utente quando si usa il pinpoint. Ecco dove la modalità SUM può essere di beneficio. Selezionando con l’interruttore a molla la modalità SUM, diremo al detector di iniziare la procedura di identificazione ID Multitono e di fare “una media” di tutte le passate della piastra sopra il target. Fare la “media” delle passate della piastra sopra il target da all’utente l’abilità di escludere la maggior parte dei segnali di disturbo che impediscono una corretta e accurata identificazione del target. Ecco come funziona: quando l’utente sente un segnale che vuole verificare, premerà e terrà premuto l’interruttore di modalità per attivare il “SUM mode”. A questo punto l’utente dovrà accorciare la propria spazzolata fino ad averla da 2 a 4 pollici (5-10 cm) passando la piastra sopra il target da 3 a 7 volte. Le multiple spazzolate “corte” daranno alla CPU del Metal Detector la possibilità di SUM (SOMMARE) le varie passate e di calcolarne la media (N.d.B3….delle identificazioni). Durante le spazzolate i toni ID partiranno dal livello più basso e diventeranno progressivamente più acute fino a quando non ci saranno ulteriori variazioni. Quando ciò accadrà, il detector ci starà mostrando l’ID più accurato possibile. A questo punto la scelta di scavare o meno ricade sull’utente”.

Funzione interessante anche se non proprio esclusiva del Cortes. Almeno non completamente.
Non so se altri metal implementino funzioni tipo questa ma il mio DFX direi di si. Il suo Signagraph (praticamente una specie di spettrogramma del segnale rilevato) può essere impostato in modo che i valori (barrette verticali) vengano mostrati sotto forma di media-valori. Ciò permette di “smussare” la naturale dispersione pseudo-casuale dei valori che sono legati alla presenza di ferro nel terreno “raggruppando” i segnali più intensi.

Mi spiego meglio… (anche se chi è stato così masochista da leggere i miei vecchi post riconoscerà concetti già trattati)

Quando la nostra piastra passa sopra al terreno dove c’è un oggetto ferroso o anche un oggetto non-ferroso ma magari inquinato da ferrite o vicino a altri oggetti di ferro, non è detto che la segnalazione ID sia proprio netta, precisa e inequivocabile come FERRO. Spessissimo la segnalazione di oggetti più o meno ferrosi si manifesta come un ventaglio apparentemente casuale di valori che possono spaziare da VDI estremamente ferrosi fino a VDI estremamente non ferrosi.
Questo ovviamente è il caso più estremo ma non il meno frequente. Altrettanto spesso la dispersione di valori non è così ampia ma è comunque abbastanza “larga” da lasciarci perplessi se scavare o meno. Giova ricordare un concetto che è stato trattato da poco relativamente all’uso della discriminazione. Più ampia è la dispersione di valori, maggiore è la possibilità che questi “cadano nel trappolone” della discriminazione rendendo la segnalazione ancora più dubbia.

Siamo al concetto fondamentale:

“L’applicazione di una media permette di “restringere” queste dispersioni intorno al valore con segnale più forte.”

Ciò ha dei pro e dei contro:

PRO:
1) Ci aiuta a capire più facilmente quale POTREBBE essere il vero ID del nostro target
2) Stringendo la dispersione dei valori, le possibilità di “cascare nel trappolone” della discriminazione diminuiscono e quindi avremo un suono più netto e preciso.
3) E’ un sistema ottimo per combattere gli effetti nefasti dell’inquinamento da ferro. Ci permette alcune volte di “domare” situazioni che ci farebbero altrimenti impazzire per il numero di falsi segnali.
CONTRO:
1) Dato che si tratta pur sempre di una media, perderemo sia informazione qualitativa che quantitativa. “POTREBBE ESSERE non significa E’ ASSOLUTAMENTE CERTO”
2) Se ci sono due oggetti vicini, l’uso della funzione SUM ci fa perdere in sensibilità e difficilmente riusciremo a distinguere i due target proprio perché il metal continuerà a calcolare una media dei valori dei due oggetti.

Molto carina la funzione audio del Cortes che aumenta il tono dell’ID fino ad indicare quello più probabile in base al procedimento indicato sopra. Pur non avendolo mai provato dal vivo, non mi dispiacerebbe affatto poterlo avere anche sul mio. Il Minelab ETRAC ha un qualcosa di simile con il famoso PITCH HOLD ma quest’ultimo è relativo al suono di soglia e non ai suoni di discriminazione.
