A Segregationist?

Chancellor Dan Brown issued a statement last fall explaining why “Dixie” was to be cut from the marching band’s playlist.  He wrote:  “Let me be clear, all the leaders of this vibrant, diverse, modern university long ago denounced any association with those who espouse segregation.” If Brown is serious about this claim, he should seriously consider canceling this year’s Spring Convocation speaker, Elie Wiesel.

If you’re one of the millions of Americans who read Night in high school, you may not have heard much about the rest of this author’s personal history. If not, you should know that Night is Wiesel’s self-proclaimed autobiographical tale of his survival in a Nazi concentration camp during WWII.

Wiesel’s moral sermons often come across as beautiful statements of righteousness.  Unfortunately, Wiesel’s commitment to human rights is about as real as Heidi Montag’s new smile.  Consider two of Wiesel’s most famous moral declarations: “The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference,” and “silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.”  According to these principles, everyone has a moral obligation to fight ethnic persecution, regardless of where it occurs. 

Now compare “silence encourages the tormentor” to the following statement in Wiesel’s personal memoir, And the Sea is Ever Full: “…since I do not live in Israel, it would be irresponsible for me to [take a public stand in the conflict].”  

Similarly, Wiesel once publicly stated, “I support Israel—period. I identify with Israel—period.  I never attack, I never criticize Israel when I am not in Israel.”  According to Wiesel’s logic, one should only criticize a government’s policies from within the particular government’s jurisdiction.

This convenient little rule never stopped Elie from criticizing the governments of South Africa, Cambodia, Iraq, Nicaragua, or the U.S.  The truth is that it makes no difference whether Wiesel is in the United States or Israel or Timbuktu.  He remains wholly uncritical of Israel’s government due to the unconditional loyalty he feels towards his particular religious group.  

Consider Wiesel’s statement about the potential for resolving the Palestine/Israel Conflict: “Israel will cooperate, I am sure of that. I trust Israel for I have faith in the Jewish people.”  The international community sees it differently.  Human rights groups and UN delegations have consistently found Israel to be in violation of all sorts of human rights laws in the occupied Palestinian territories. 

No population is to be trusted with ultimate moral superiority.  Any such unconditional allegiance to one’s ethnic or religious group produces the same outdated, supremacist attitudes that Chancellor Brown seeks to eradicate from campus.

I suggest taking a closer look at Wiesel’s past before we devote a Monday evening to his lecture.

From 1947-1949, Wiesel was employed by the Irgun, the paramilitary group of extreme right-wing Zionists.  In 1948, Jewish-American icons Hannah Arendt, Albert Einstein, and Sydney Hook (among others) composed a letter to the New York Times that refers to the Irgun as “the terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine.”  

Look up “Deir Yassin” or “Sabra and Shatilla Massacre” and decide for yourself if Wiesel should remain silent about his involvement in the Irgun.

1948 was also the year of the “Nakba,” or “catastrophe,” when more than 400 Palestinian villages were destroyed or forcibly evacuated by Israeli forces.  More than 700,000 Palestinians were forced to leave their homes.  Zionists literally “cleansed” the land of Palestinian Arabs to make room for Jewish settlements.  To this day the Palestinian refugees are prohibited from returning to the Israel/Palestine region. 

On the other hand, Wiesel is a staunch supporter of the Israeli law that allows for any Jew, “…a child [or] a grandchild of a Jew, the spouse of a Jew, the spouse of a child of a Jew [or] the spouse of a grandchild of a Jew,” to immigrate and settle in Israel as a full-fledged citizen.

Wiesel uses the rhetoric of pacifism and human rights activism to support the segregationist political agenda of far-right Jewish Israelis.  MIT professor Noam Chomsky, the most frequently cited scholar alive, calls Wiesel “a terrible fraud.”  Norman Finkelstein, the Jewish-American son of two Holocaust survivors, wrote a bestselling novel entitled The Holocaust Industry, in which Wiesel is the antihero.  Finkelstein recounts how Wiesel and others have exploited the suffering of Jewish people in the Nazi Holocaust in order to advance Israel’s agenda in the Israel/Palestine conflict.

Consider the way Wiesel perceives the Ole Miss student body.  He believes that any Jewish student at the University should be free to move to Israel, settle there, and become an Israeli citizen.  If you happen to be a Palestinian-American Rebel, on the other hand, Wiesel thinks you should be prohibited from moving to Palestine or Israel.  It doesn’t matter where you grew up, where your parents were born, or what you intend to accomplish in your lifetime.  Your ethnicity restricts your opportunities. 

Here at Ole Miss, we frown on that sort of segregationist mindset.  Don’t we, Chancellor Brown? Don’t we, Ole Miss?

All the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges made against them.

The Infamous Gas Chambers at Bergen-Belsen!

“In Lueneburg, Germany, a Jewish physician, testifying at the trial of 45 men and women for war crimes at the Belsen and Oswiecim [Auschwitz] concentration camps, said that 80,000 Jews, representing the entire ghetto of Lodz, Poland, had been gassed or burned to death in one night at the Belsen camp.” Associated Press story, 1945

On September 15, 2007, the Toronto Star newspaper published an article in which the following was stated as an undisputed fact:

“…Bergen-Belsen, a German concentration camp where Jews were murdered in gas chambers during the World War II.”

On September 16, 2007, The Commercial Appeal newspaper in Memphis, Tennessee published a story with the following text:

(Associated Press) Dr. Fritz Klein, who selected prisoners to be sent to the gas chamber at Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany, was forced to move bodies to a mass grave after the camp was liberated by the British in April 1945. Sixty thousand prisoners were found in the camp. Klein was later tried and hanged.

On April 27, 1995, a group of elderly Germans and Jews stood side by side at the Bergen-Belsen Memorial Site to mourn the “mass gassings” in the former Bergen-Belsen “extermination camp.”

Surviving the horror

Author recounts experiences in Nazi concentration camp

ST. LAURENT – As an 11 year-old boy held captive at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp during World War II, Moshe Peer was sent to the gas chamber at least six times. Each time he survived, watching with horror as many of the women and children gassed with him collapsed and died. To this day, Peer doesn’t know how he was able to survive. “Maybe children resist better, I don’t know,” he said in an interview last week.

Now 60, Peer has spent the last 19 years writing a first-person account of the horror he witnessed at Bergen Belsen. On Sunday, he spoke to about 300 young adults at the Petah Tikva Sephardic Congregation in St. Laurent about his book and his experience as a Holocaust survivor.

The gathering was part of the synagogue’s Shabbaton 93, which brought together young adults from across North America for a cultural and social experience.

Called Inoubliable Bergen-Belsen (Unforgettable Bergen-Belsen), Peer wrote the book to make the reader feel like a witness at the scene. But he admits he can never recreate for anyone the living hell he experienced. “The conditions in the camp is indescribable,” Peer said. “You can’t bring home the horror.”

“Bergen-Belsen was worse than Auschwitz because there people were gassed right away so they didn’t suffer a long time.”

Peer’s day began with a roll call of the numbered prisoners. This could last as long as five hours, while their captors calculated how many prisoners had died. Anyone who fell over during the roll call was beaten on the spot.

Even 49 years later, Peer is still haunted by his concentration-camp experience and still finds his memories keep him awake at night.

But what he is most bitter about is the way the rest of world stood by and let it happen.

“No one told the Germans not to do it. They had the permission of world,” he said.

So much for German efficiency!

Robert Spitz, a Hungarian Jew, recalled after the war that when he took a shower at Belsen in February 1945,

“….It was delightful. What I didn’t know then was that there were other showers in the same building where gas came out instead of water.”

Even one of the British liberators, British Army Captain Robert Daniell, recalled fifty years after the war that he had seen “the gas chambers” at Bergen-Belsen.

Interestingly, the show trial prosecutors, in spite of allowing all sorts of fabricated nonsense as “evidence” of war crimes (the Jew-Skin-Lampshades, the Jew-Fat-Soap, the Shrunken Jew-Heads, et cetera ad nauseum ad absurdam; the whole atrocity porn litany) included the following minor detail in their trial report:

“In respect of Belsen there would not be an allegation that there was a gas chamber or that persons were herded by their thousands to their death.”

Well that makes no sense! Were the prosecutors Holoco$t Deniers!?

Even those antishemitic Holoco$t-denying bastards at B’nai Brith and Yad Vashem and the Washington Holoco$t Museum and The Simon Wiesenthal Centre deny that their were gas chambers at Bergen-Belsen!

How high does this antishemitic conspiracy go?

Niall Aslen, the son of one of the British liberators, wrote the following to the administrator of ScrapBookPages regarding whether or not there was a gas chamber at Bergen-Belsen:

I can only repeat what my late father told me. The wooden building appeared to be disguised as a shower room with a water tank on the roof. He did mention that there was a crematorium oven nearby but I cannot remember exactly what he said. My father died in 1972 so my memories are over 30 years old. He did explore the complex which had been built recently and noted the blast proof hermetically sealed doors. There was a hatch in the ceiling leading to the hut above. Each hatch was also hermetically sealed and identified by a letter and a number such as A3.

The ramp appeared to lead up to the crematorium ovens. I am not surprised that the commandant and the guards were not charged with gassing prisoners because the evidence had been destroyed by the British, but that was academic because they had enough evidence to hang Kramer and Grese a hundred times over. As my Dad’s colonel said to him: “They’ll have a legal trial and a legal hanging…”

Well, why let facts get in the way of a good story?

Several books published after the war maintained that there was a gas chamber at Bergen-Belsen. For example, in Jews, God and History, Jewish historian Max Dimont mentioned gassings at Bergen-Belsen. Another book, entitled A History of World War II, claimed that “In Belsen, Kramer kept an orchestra to play him Viennese music while he watched children torn from their mothers to be burned alive. Gas chambers disposed of thousands of persons daily.” (Josef Kramer was the Commandant of Bergen-Belsen from 2 December 1944 until the camp was liberated.)

If that’s what he did while listening to The Blue Danube, one shudders to imagine what depravities he could have committed while listening to Gangsta Rap!

In November 2008, Eva Olsson told an audience of 550 delegates to the Upper Canada District School Board’s ACT Now! Symposium about the “gas chambers” at Bergen-Belsen where she had been transferred to from Auschwitz, where the incompetent Germans had failed to murder her in spite of all their evil efforts.

Eva Olsson and her younger sister Fradel were the only members of her extended family of 89 people who survived the Holocaust, according to her story, published in a news article in the Seaway News on November 6, 2008.

The following quote is from the article about Eva Olsson in the Seaway News:

The room fell silent as Olsson told of witnessing firsthand the horror of the “death factories” created by the Nazis. She told stories of German soldiers being ordered to shoot babies in their mother’s arms-killing both mother and child — to not waste two bullets. She spoke of seeing the Angel of Death — Dr. Josef Mengele — and the hospital where he experimented on young Jewish children by infecting them with diseases such as tuberculosis.

…

Perhaps the most gruesome aspect of the tale was her recollection of her imprisonment in Bergen-Belsen when the camp ran out of pellets to fuel the gas chambers.

“On that day, five children at a time were put into the ovens alive, five children at a time, to be burned alive,” said Olsson, who contracted typhus in the death camp.

They shot mothers and children in one shot.

Dr. Russell Barton, a British doctor who spent a month in Bergen-Belsen working with the British Army after the liberation of the camp wrote the following:

Most people attributed the conditions of the inmates to deliberate intention on the part of the Germans in general and the camp administrators in particular. Inmates were eager to cite examples of brutality and neglect, and visiting journalists from different countries interpreted the situation according to the needs of propaganda at home.

For example, one newspaper emphasized the wickedness of the “German masters” by remarking that some of the 10,000 unburied dead were naked. In fact, when the dead were taken from a hut and left in the open for burial, other prisoners would take their clothing from them.

…

German medical officers told me that it had been increasingly difficult to transport food to the camp for some months. Anything that moved on the autobahns was likely to be bombed.

…

I was surprised to find records, going back for two or three years, of large quantities of food cooked daily for distribution. I became convinced, contrary to popular opinion, that there had never been a policy of deliberate starvation. This was confirmed by the large numbers of well-fed inmates. Why then were so many people suffering from malnutrition?

…

The major reasons for the state of Belsen were disease, gross overcrowding by central authority, lack of law and order within the huts, and inadequate supplies of food, water and drugs. In trying to assess the causes of the conditions found in Belsen one must be alerted to the tremendous visual display, ripe for purposes of propaganda, that masses of starved corpses presented.

And now we have Tomi Reichental, a man in Ireland claiming that he was at Bergen-Belsen, after six decades of silence. But he sounds like a typical Holoco$t Denier:

“They were no gas chambers in Bergen-Belsen, but unfortunately people were dying there from starvation and from disease, especially typhoid.”

Dear oh dear. How can a Jew deny the Holoco$t like that, when even the highly respected — and honoured — British artist Johnny Rotten said that “Belsen was a gas!”

William Lowenberg is A Survivor. He witnessed Jews marching into the fictitious gas chambers. He dedicates his life to Holoco$t remembrance and education, and is a co-founder and former Vice-Chairman of the United States Holoco$t Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. He discovered a technique whereby one can live for years without water, but just let millions of Africans and Asians die from lack of clean water.

The other thing that saved me, probably – there was – the water had typhoid in it. We knew that. By having that you also got immediately – and it happened a lot – a lot of people had diarrhea. My friend – the one I mentioned, the magician again – he had some experience, and he said, “Don’t drink the water.” What do you do? Cause you need [water]. He said, “Pick up a pebble.” I picked up a pebble off the street, a little stone. I had that stone for three years. I had it in my mouth, all day long. It activated my saliva gland. He taught me that. That’s why I never got that thirsty. That helps. Why do you think you guys take to chewing gum, right? What’s the reason you take chewing gum? To activate your saliva gland, but they don’t tell you that. They tell you it tastes good. It’s because you activate your saliva gland. It’s probably healthy. I don’t like chewing gum, it’s personal, I don’t know, it doesn’t mean anything to me. But young people, you see it more than older people. That pebble saved my life, I believe, because I didn’t drink the water. If you drank the water you got typhoid and there was lots and lots of typhoid. Hygiene. I feel very strong about that.

No, I lost it. When the war was over, we were liberated, I wanted to get rid of everything that reminded me of it. No. I wish I had. I thought about it. I wished I kept that pebble. It was a little stone and it worked. Others did too, I wasn’t the only one. But not everybody did, apparently.

Lowenberg has mysterious insider information proving that Hershel Grynszpan did not murder the German diplomat Ernst vom Rath in Paris on November 7, 1938, but vom Rath was in fact killed by the Germans in an Israeli-style false flag operation!

They made it a story to find an excuse. It’s now proven in recent years – I forget the name, I think it was in Paris or in France – that this was a trumped up thing. There was someone killed allegedly but the Germans killed him and used it as an excuse.

The dumb blood-thirsty Germans were so intent on murder that they would prefer having their own Kamaraden die in Stalingrad than see any Jews survive.

The Germans were so determined to kill people that while they were fighting a war on the Russian side, in Eastern Europe, the railroads – planes weren’t used in those days – the railroads had priority, the boxcars going to Auschwitz had priority on the rail lines to Auschwitz, before the army troops were supplied on the Eastern Front. You can see how obsessed they were with killing people.

And yet the Germans were so inefficient that Lowenberg is here to share his tales today.

As everybody knows, German showers have poison gas in them, and Germans are famous for their lack of order and cleanliness. Therefore they wanted all the famously hygienic Jews to be dirty all the time, and would kill any Jew who tried to stay clean.

I used to sneak out, and others too, sometimes, whenever we could and go out in the snow and roll ourselves in the snow, and wash ourselves down with the snow. If you had enough strength, you did that, as long as the Germans didn’t see that.

For some strange reason, the filthy Krauts craved Jew-Cock, and tried to impregnate Jewish women with the sperm of beasts. It is well known tyhat Germans were the least technologically and scientifically advanced people in Europe, and so they obviously did not know that brute inter-species impregnation is impossible. Of course, now it is possible in the sterile labratories of the New World Order.

The men they did castrations, a lot – middle size, regular size, big size – they castrated men and they had the worst time, they couldn’t live much longer. I knew quite a few who were picked. They picked certain individuals who looked like they were “macho-macho” or whatever. They castrated and injected them. But the women were worse. In Auschwitz it was prevalent, big operation, what they did to women there you can’t even talk about what they did to them. Inject them with semen from animals, you name it.

Lowenberg reminds us that “the gas chamber” at Auschwitz is a fake, and everybody knows it.

As you well know when the Russians came, who liberated Birkenau and Auschwitz, the gas chambers were all bombed, they were all blown up. There was none intact because they tried to destroy the evidence.

After The-War-That-Is-A-Footnote-To-The-Holoco$t, Lowenberg became a serial killer, and spied against Switzerland.

He wasn’t the only killer. He relates with glee how American soldiers are maniacal war criminals.

The American soldiers were terrific. They were so angry when they saw a German, they killed him immediately because they saw what they had done to us. The soldiers were great.

Lowenberg didn’t get into the whole Holoco$t racket until decades after infiltrating America.

Then the Holocaust thing didn’t come until many years later, many years later, because I didn’t get involved, there was nothing here at that point on that issue until about the early ’70’s, maybe late 60’s, something like that when we started to build the Holoco$t memorial.

Dennis Prager…is the most fantastic guy. … He happens to be a conservative even though he was a Democrat when he was younger. … I was with him at Stanford. … He talks about these things, how lucky we are that we are living in a Judeo-Christian environment in this country. There is no area in the world where that is done because Europe has their own system of wanting to be what they are. That’s why they don’t agree with us right now.

I am very troubled about what’s happening now, because I know what you are asking me, and it’s being revitalized, if I can use the word, based almost on the teachings of Hitler and his cohorts. Lockerbie doubters branded ‘Holocaust deniers’

A representative of families of American victims of the Lockerbie disaster has likened those questioning the guilt of the convicted Libyan bomber to “Holocaust deniers”.

Frank Duggan, an official spokesman for Victims of Pan Am Flight 103, described those who believe Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi is innocent as a “shameless band of conspiracy mavens”.

Those criticised include Christine Grahame, the nationalist MSP, her researcher Mark Hirst, Robert Black, the Edinburgh-based legal expert who helped broker Megrahi’s trial in the Netherlands and Gareth Peirce, the London-based human rights lawyer.

In an email sent to Richard Marquise, a former FBI official who headed the investigation, Duggan said Grahame, Hirst, Black and Peirce were “no worse than Holocaust deniers who will not accept the facts before their faces”.

Grahame, who believes that Iran, not Libya, was behind the 1988 bombing, which claimed 270 lives, said Duggan’s comments were ludicrous. “My father and the fathers and grandfathers of many of the other people who are seeking the truth about who attacked Pan Am 103 were fighting the perpetrators of the Holocaust for three years before the US saw fit to get involved,” she said.

Hirst accused Duggan of a “highly personal” smear campaign against those who doubted the safety of Megrahi’s conviction.

The row reflects anger among the families of the American victims at the decision by Kenny MacAskill, the justice minister, to free Megrahi on compassionate grounds. Megrahi, who has terminal prostate cancer, has outlived his three-month prognosis. Last week, MacAskill defended his decision to a Holyrood inquiry into the handling of Megrahi’s release, insisting that the medical advice was “quite clear”.

US intelligence files published last week claim Megrahi was involved in buying and developing chemical weapons for Libya.

Black declined to comment and Peirce was unavailable for comment.

Holocaust scholars are well-aware of the tendency of exterminationists to throw in a million here, add a few million there, reduce by two or three million one year, add a million or so the next; with the happy result always ending up as the magical number of 6,000,000. While it is quite easy and natural to make fun of these kabbalistic thanatical demographics, one should be careful not to offend Jews, who feel great pain when they learn that they are not such great victims as they love to believe.

Here’s another example of the What’s-A-Million Syndrome:

Soviet Jews are supposed to account for about 18-19% of all Holocaust victims.

The Soviet Census of January 6, 1937, was the most controversial of the censuses taken within the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The results were destroyed and its organizers were sent to the Gulag as saboteurs because the census showed much lower population figures than anticipated.

After the First All-Union Census of the Soviet Union of 1926 the next census was planned to be held in 1933. On March 15, 1932 the formal commission on census organization, chaired by V. V. Osinsky was created by the Statistical Commission (Tsentral’noye Upravleniye Narodno-Khozyaystvennogo Uchyota, TsUNKhU) of Gosplan. On 22 April 1932 Sovnarkom adopted the decision On Conducting the all-Union Census in December 1933. On 15 April 1933 Sovnarkom moved the date for the census to the beginning of 1935. On 23 June 1934 Sovnarkom further delayed the census to January 1936. On 15 June 1935 the census date was moved to December 1936. Finally the census was conducted on January 6, 1937.

During this period, from 1926-1937, while Soviet propaganda kept boasting about population growth, many millions of “citizens” either starved to death or where otherwise liquidated in accordance with the finest principles of scientific socialism.

On 26 January 1934 Joseph Stalin reported to the 17th Congress of the All-Union Communist Party (b) as one of the main achievements “Growth of population from 160.5 millions in the end of 1930 to the 168 millions in the end of 1933″. On 1 December 1935 Joseph Stalin made a speech, on the Meeting of Kolkhozniks with the Soviet and Party leaders:

“Everybody says that the material situation of workers has dramatically improved, that life has become better and more fun. It is of course true. But this has led the population to breed much faster than in the old days. The birth rate is higher, the death rate is lower and the pure population growth is far stronger. It is of course good and we welcome it. [Jolly murmurs in the auditorium.] Now every year we have a population growth of three million souls. It means that every year we grow as much as the whole of Finland. [Everybody laughs.]”

We share their amusement.

Combining these reports, one could have expected to have a population of about 180 million by 1937.

On 21 September 1935 Sovnarkom adopted a decision ‘On the organization of registration of natural population changes’ (О постановке учета естественного движения населения), which was most probably authored by Stalin:

“The organs of registration were often used by the class enemies who had sneaked in there (priests, kulaks, whites) and made their own counterrevolutionary saboteurs work to deliberately hide population growth by registering the same deaths multiple times.”

On the contrary, many souls left the Soviet paradise on Earth unregistered. For example, in 1933, the street-cleaning service of Kiev picked up 9472 dead bodies. Only 3991 of them were officially registered while 5481 were disposed of without formal registration according to the instructions of the prosecutor’s office. They were not Jews — in fact they were mostly filthy Slav Christians — so few historians give a fuck.

The official commission for the preparation of the census was formed on 16 September 1935. It included:

• Vyacheslav Molotov, the Chairman of Sovnarkom
• Lazar Kaganovich, Narkom for transport
• Anastas Mikoyan, Narkom for the food industry
• N.K. Antipov, Vice Chairman of Sovnarkom;
• Nikolai Bulganin, Chairman of Mossovet
• Emmanuil Kviring, Vice Chairman of Gosplan
• I.A. Kraval, the chief of TsUNKhU
• A.S. Popov, deputy to the chief of TsUNKhU

Later the commission was joined by Valery Mezhlauk, the Chairman of Gosplan, who chaired the commission

All the documents related to the census were prepared by TsUNKhU and edited personally by Joseph Stalin. A.G. Volkov speculates that never in modern history was such a routine technical matter as a census so micromanaged by such high officials.

Census questions included “Народность?” [Ethnicity], “Национальность?” [Nationality], “Религия?” [Religion], and “Гражданин какого государства?” [Citizen of what state?.

Another question was: "К какой общественной группе принадлежит: к группе рабочих, служащих, колхозников, единоличников, кустарей, людей свободных профессий или служителей культа и нетрудящихся элементов?" [What social group do you belong: workers, white collars, kolkhozniks, individual farmers, artisans, people of free professions, priests of a cult or nonworking elements?]

Some questions, such as “social category?”, were deliberately vague. Stalin personally added the question about religion, and “citizens” were expected to self-identify as atheists.

Furthermore, confusion regarding those present at an address at the time of census and those permanently living at an address), and the timing of the census, were intended in order to exaggerate population statistics.

The census was conducted on Christmas Eve, the worst possible time, when many people were travelling, visiting, or socializing.

Besides the general census in the cities, towns and villages, special censuses were held by the NKVD in the Gulag camps and among the border guards; by the Red Army, which took a census of military personnel; and by the railroad authorities, which conducted a chaotic census of passengers.

In spite of these population-inflationary measures, it soon became obvious that the final enumeration would be no more than 162 million people. The worst disagreement between the expected and the obtained data were in the Kazakhstan, Ukraine, North Caucasus and Volga regions, the areas that were the strongest hit by the Soviet famine of 1932-1934. Also, while authorities had expected to count 4,000,000 slave-laborers in the Jewish designed and run Gulags, only 2,600,000 temporary survivors could be found. Only a rabid, black-hearted antishemite bandit could refer to the missing 1,400,000 as a Holocaust.

On January 11 the chief of TsUNKhU Kraval sent telegrams requesting a total recount of a whole settlement if any doubt arose that somebody might be missing there. In spite of a total recount in 25,000 settlements, only 4887 missing persons were “found”. The preliminary result of the census, reported to Stalin in March 1937 was 162,039,470 people, much lower than the “criminally decreased” registered numbers of 170-172 million or Stalin’s expectations of 180 million people.

Another problem was the higher than expected number of “citizens” who stated that they were religious. (The question was asked only of people older than 16.) 55.3 million stated they were religious, 42.2 million stated they were atheists, and around 1 million refused to answer. The Soviet authorities were so upset by the results of the census that they did not include a question on religion in future censuses until 1987.

In March 1937 the four main statistical professionals working on the Census in TsUNKhU – the chief of the Sector for Population, Mikhail Kurman; chief of the Census Bureau, Olimpy Kvitkin; his deputy, Lazar Brand; and the chief of the Sector for transportation and communication, Ivan Oblomov, were arrested and imprisoned. Soon they were joined by the Chief of TsUNKhU, Ivan Kraval, and the chiefs of the most of the regional statistical centers. Many statisticians, newly-appointed in place of those arrested, were soon arrested themselves. Many appointees desperately tried to avoid starting their new jobs.

On 25 September 1937 there was a special Sovnarkom decision proclaiming the census invalid and setting one for January 1939. A Pravda editorial stated that the “enemies of the people gave the census counters invalid instructions that led to the gross under-counting of the population, but the brave NKVD under the leadership of Nikolai Yezhov destroyed the snake’s nest in the statistical bodies”.

Stalin, in his report to the 18th Congress of the All-Union Communist Party, said:

“Some workers of the old Gosplan thought that during the second Five-Year Plan (1933-1938) the annual growth of population was three to four million people. It was a fantasy or worse.”

A 1939 census was organized in such a way as to have certainly inflated data on population numbers. It showed a population figure of 170.6 million people, manipulated so as to match exactly the numbers stated by Stalin in his report to the 18th Congress of the All-Union Communist Party. Religion was not asked about. The next census was conducted in 1959.

At least a million bodies were fraudulently added to the 1939 census, and since Stalin’s government and bureaucracy was overwhelmingly Jewish, Jews were the most privileged class, and Christians were the most persecuted and discriminated against, one should expect that Jewish statistics were heavily inflated in 1939.

According to these phony statistics then, in 1939, on the eve of the Great Internazi-Nazi War, there were supposedly over 3,000,000 Jews in the USSR. And according to the court historians, there were only 2,000,000 Jews in the USSR in 1945. How this figure is arrived at as a profound mystery, considering the state of confusion in the war’s aftermath, and considering that there was no census until 1959.

Anyway, based on these ridiculous 1937 and 1939 censuses, H-historians claim that there were 1,000,000-1,100,000 Holocaust victims in the USSR. Besides this inability to really know how many Jews there were pre-war and how many post-war, there is the problem of identifying all dead or missing Soviet Jews as “Holocaust Victims”. Considering that most Soviet Jews lived in areas that saw the worst fighting of the war, where many civilians were caught in the considerable crossfire or died due to war-time conditions, and that many Soviet Jewish men died as military casualties, and that Jews made up a vastly disproportionate of the Soviet Commissars that the Nazis targeted on political and ideological grounds, it may be that the majority of Soviet Jewish casualties died or were killed as Soviets and not as Jews.

Also, many Soviet Jews could have taken advantage of wartime confusion to escape from the socialist paradise that their cogeners created. Since most of them lived in the Western border regions, many spoke other languages than Russian, they had the greatest connections with foreign communists, and they had the greatest access to bureaucratic agencies (therefore, the ability to fake identity cards, passes, permits, etc.), they could have passed as non-Russian D.P.s.

In conclusion, here we have another 18-19% of Holocaust victim statistics that should be treated with caution.

National and racial chauvinism is a vestige of the misanthropic customs characteristic of the period of cannibalism. Anti-semitism, as an extreme form of racial chauvinism, is the most dangerous vestige of cannibalism.

Anti-semitism is of advantage to the exploiters as a lightning conductor that deflects the blows aimed by the working people at capitalism. Anti-semitism is dangerous for the working people as being a false path that leads them off the right road and lands them in the jungle. Hence Communists, as consistent internationalists, cannot but be irreconcilable, sworn enemies of anti-semitism.

In the U.S.S.R. anti-semitism is punishable with the utmost severity of the law as a phenomenon deeply hostile to the Soviet system. Under U.S.S.R. law active anti-semites are liable to the death penalty.

Elie Wiesel, King of the Holoaxers, who sought refuge from the Red Army with his Nazi protectors, accused Eric Hunt of assault, after Hunt tried to ask Wiesel some embarrassing questions about his infamous atrocity-porn. From Dissecting the Holocaust:

Feature films such as Holocaust, Shoah and Schindler’s List…naturally have no evidential value whatsoever, but their psychological impact on the masses is immense and powerful. Even though the establishment historians’ assessment of the movie Holocaust – namely, that it is factually untenable – applies equally to the other movies as well, they are nevertheless gladly received for the welcome effect they have on “public education and opinion steering”! One example shall suffice to demonstrate the historically unacceptable nature of such movies. Illustration 19 shows a scene from Schindler’s List where Camp Commandant Göth, standing on the balcony of his house, takes random potshots at the inmates of the Plaszow Camp. Air photos from that time, however, reveal that the Commandant’s house was located at the foot of a hill, while the camp itself was on top of that hill. The scene shown in the movie…was thus impossible, if only for geographical reasons. And this is certainly not Steven Spielberg’s sole forgery.

Schindler’s List, which is based on a novel going back to historical events, was deliberately filmed in black-and-white and with unsteady camera work in order to convey to the audience the false impression that the film is a documentary; contributors to the movie have freely admitted this. This clearly shows the intentions of the film-makers and of those who take school classes and even entire schools to see this movie, and not only in Germany and Austria. What is particularly perfidious about this film is that whenever German soldiers or SS-men give orders, yell and scream and engage in any kind of violence, this is not shown in English or in whichever other language the film is dubbed, but in German. In this way the entire world is made to feel that German is the language of cruel subhumans. And the German viewing public is the only one not to notice this, because in Germany, Schindler’s List is dubbed entirely in German. In this way, underhanded psychological tricks incite the peoples of the world against the Germans, their language and their culture, and the Germans themselves never even notice what is going on.

Besides of this, Spielberg is hiding the fact that the commander from Plaszow concentration camp was prosecuted by the SS:

“Individual criminal acts – in these cases having broad implications – included: the assumption of a license to kill by commandants and subordinates concealed through falsification of medical death certificates.

“Arbitrary conduct, chicanery, unlawful corporal punishments, acts of brutality and sadism, liquidation of no-longer-convenient accomplices, theft and black-market profiteering.

“All of these offenses were committed both alone by prisoners as well as by personnel of the SS, most however in conspiracy between SS personnel with Kapos (Jewish concentration camp guards).

“The intervention of SS jurisdiction in the concentration camps commenced with the initiation of my investigations in July 1943 and lasted until the conclusion of the war. It could not have started sooner, because there were no suspicions in this regard.

“Arrested were the commandants of Buchenwald, Lublin, Warschau, Herzogenbosch, Krakau-Plaszow.”

“Spielberg certainly wished to conceal these investigations and punishment of perpetrators from his gullible movie audience since he was and is not interested in an historically accurate film, but rather in molding public opinion to accept the establishment Holocaust ideology. Audiences may be gullible and dumb, but Spielberg is a deceiver and denier of historical reality.”

For 15 months Chana re-swallowed and re-defecated her diamonds over and over again. She was a favorite of Dr Josef Mengele, who performed experiments and surgeries on her and other prisoners without anesthesia. Mengele injected chemicals into her eyes in an attempt to change their color. He removed the ID-number-tattoo on her to find a way to remove the numbers tattooed on her arm. He ordered a nurse to administer a lethal injection, but the nurse worked for the underground and was able to free her. She survived the gas chamber, and just missed being turned into a lampshade.

“Mengele was the most good-looking man,” she said. “He could have been the one scientist in the world who could have developed extraordinary things for humanity, but he became a murderer. He would look at me and smile and at times I could not believe this man could ever hurt me, he could be so charming. But the next minute, he was cutting me up into little pieces.”

Mengele had given her watery soup filled with chemicals to destroy her reproductive organs, but she miraculously gave birth to a son and a daughter in the 1960s.

She vowed that if she survived, she would be a voice for her fellow prisoners. “For 50 years, I didn’t say a word.” she said.

In 1958 history tells us, that 50 years ago in Paris, the writer and Nobel Laurate Francois Mauriac, discovered a Jewish survivor’s autobiography, written in Yiddish and entitled ‘Un di velt hat gesvign’, copyright 1955, Paris.

He decided to get into the Holocaust business by using this story, written from the beginning by survivor Lazar (Eliezer) Wiesel. Mauriac translated the book into French between 1955 and 1958, making substantial alterations to it and created a new book called ‘Le Nuit’.

The alterations were in order to introduce Christian theology into the narrative. The book, called ‘Night’ in English, was then given to his partner, a new persona called “Elie Wiesel”. They kept the second name Wiesel, but were forced to change the first name from Eliezer, the Yiddish for Lazar, for copyright reasons and in 1958 invented the new name “Elie Wiesel”.

Now, in the year of 2008, the same man who advanced to Nobel [Peace] Prize Laureate, “Elie Wiesel”, has been exposed by the under signed survivor, A-11104, from the former labor camp “Buna” (a sub-camp to Auschwitz), I claim that “Elie Wiesel” has never been a prisoner of Auschwitz. Further I the undersigned A-11104, claim that they stole Lazar Wiesel´s manuscript with Lazar’s identity A-7713, in order to change the message by mixing in Christian theology, in order to suit his own and Mauriac’s purposes. This was to convert young Jewish survivors coming from the camps into good Catholic souls.

It is of historical evidence that should be mentioned here, that the Nobel Peace Prize winner “Elie Wiesel”, was honored with the “Great Cross of Hungary”, in New York in 2004 (probably for being a self-appointed spokesperson and spinner of tales about the extermination camps), and even dared to maintain in public that he is the original owner of the tattooed number A-7713. However the evidence shows, that neither in the archives of Auschwitz, nor in Buchenwald, has the name “Elie Wiesel” any connection what so ever to Lazar Wiesel´s tattooed number A-7713. Regarding his identity, I can vouch for his own privately produced DVD, entitled “Elie Wiesel Goes Home”. The movie was filmed in Maramorossziget and Auschwitz-Birkenau, reveals that on his left lower arm, there is no trace of the tattooed number he claims to have, namely A-7713. If he did have one, then it would cover approx. 9 cms in length, and 10 millimeter in height on the surface of his skin. In the film his arm has nothing on it.

When it comes to “Elie Wiesel´s” birth date, he has three, and the fourth one is known only to himself. The archives of Buchenwald confirm that: Lazar Wiesel who was born on the 4th of Sept.1913, left Buchenwald for Paris with the HIAS transport S-414, carrying 675 Children on the 19th of July 1945. On his transport document he appears under the running number 405 named Wiesel Lazar, born 4.10.1928 Maramorossziget. He is the same Lazar Wiesel who is registered at Yad Vashem as an inmate of Buchenwald, who perished in the Shoah. Regardless of his death, he is still on the lists of the perished at Yad Vashem, though his details have been altered illegally recently.

Perjury: Elie Wiesel appeared as plaintiff on Monday July 7, 2008, in the Court of San Francisco, USA, Department No. 23. Court No. 2315810. He lied when he gave his testimony under oath. He alleged that his original tattooed number on his left lower arm was A-7713 and that his father’s was A-7712. I here state that all my accusations against “Elie Wiesel”, are based on my personal contact with my old friend Lazar Wiesel, from the former labor camp “Buna” and are from verified official documents, from the state archives of both Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps.

With the evidence above, I represent myself as being a heavily affected and racially abused survivor A-11104. My last wish in life is to present the truth, including my bitter past to those who want to listen and to learn about the cannibalized and exterminated Jewish brothers, likewise the 6 million martyrs, who were slaughtered with modern efficiency and bestial cruelty. With the evidence in my possession, I am able to prove, that “Elie Wiesel’s” crime against my friend Lazar Wiesel (4. 9.1913), to whom I have an eternal debt for protecting me from a certain death, most likely occurred in Europe. Therefore I demand for myself, and for all of us survivors and martyrs, that the European Court of Human Rights, without pity, malicious interest, nor political profit, should examine the case of “Elie Wiesel’s” real identity and if possible his supposed religious leanings.

Norman Finkelstein i Democracy Now 16/9 om FN:s häromveckan publicerade rapport efter utredningen av Israel och Hamas i “kriget” kring årsskiftet. Rapporten fastslår att bägge sidor är skyldiga till krigsbrott och möjligen brott mot mänskligheten. Norman Finkelstein är son till två judiska överlevare från koncentrationsläger i Polen (inklusive Auschwitz). Han är en känd kritiker av Israels politik och som sådan måste han regelbundet försvara sig mot anklagelser om antisemitism, hur befängt det än kan låta. Han är författare till bl.a. So the report basically is consistent with the findings of the other human rights organizations, that Israel targeted civilians, Israel targeted civilians who were carrying white flags, Israel systematically targeted the Palestinian infrastructure. The findings were consistent with those of the other human rights organizations: Israel is guilty of a very significant number of war crimes. And also, the findings which were—other reports, the same conclusions, that the Palestinians were not using hospitals to hide Hamas officials. There’s no evidence that the ambulances Israel targeted were carrying Hamas militants or ammunition. And most significantly, in terms of the coverage during the Gaza massacre, the report found, as did Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, there’s no evidence whatsoever—and I would want to underline that—there’s no evidence whatsoever that Hamas was guilty of human shielding. But on the other hand, there is significant evidence, actually copious evidence, that Israel was guilty of human shielding.

The picture is fairly clear. Israel flew about 3,000 sorties over Gaza. Every plane came back. None was damaged. None was downed. There was no fighting in Gaza. If you read the reports that were issued by the—the testimonies of the Israeli soldiers, the one consistent theme in all of the testimonies was they never met any Hamas militants, they never engaged in any battles. Some of the Israeli soldiers expressed exasperation: “We came here to fight. We’re not fighting anyone.” There was no—there were no battles. There were no Hamas militants in the field. The basic fact was, as a couple of Israeli soldiers said—one of them said, “This was like PlayStation, a computer game.” Another Israeli soldier said, literally—I’m quoting exactly, almost word for word—he said, “It was like a child with a magnifying glass burning ants.” That’s what Gaza was like.

It was a massacre in Gaza. And you don’t really see that, because they’re measuring everything against what they call the laws of war. But you’re applying laws of war to a massacre. There was no war there.

What’s significant about the report, in my opinion, and what’s significant about what happened in Gaza, I think it marks a major turning point. It’s like the Sharpville massacre in South Africa. Now, Sharpville is not Soweto, but Sharpville was a turning point. Richard Goldstone is a liberal. Richard Goldstone is very supportive of Israel. And it’s now marking the breakup of liberal Jewish support for Israel.

On July 11th, author William Blum e-mailed me a Washington Post article about Ken Meyercord. Fredrick Kunkle, a Post staff writer, described Meyercord as a 65-year old with a “high tech job at Freddie Mac, a local public-access cable television show … and a long history of writing about what he says are ‘myths’ of the Holocaust.” Meyercord, the article continued, hoped to win “an at-large seat on the board of the Reston Citizens Association, a quasi-government body … for the community of 60,000, which is not officially a municipality.” Reston is basically a D.C. suburb in Virginia.

I’d met Meyercord a few months before at a political celebration in downtown D.C. The party’s sponsors were elated over Obama’s inauguration. More cynical than most of those there, I’d latched onto Blum’s coat-tails for the invite—providing chauffeur services in my old van. I met Medea Benjamin, Meyercord and his Palestinian wife, Samira, and a few other interesting people. Nobody I met or overheard struck me as radical or dangerous. Some—not those I’ve mentioned here—struck me as naïve for believing that one election would change the direction of our latter-day Empire.

A few months later, friend Blum and I were at Eduardo Galeano’s reading at Politics and Prose, also in D.C.. We ran into Meyercord there and we decided to get some Chinese food nearby. Meyercord told me about his TV show then, but most of the conversation had more to do with Peking duck than with the sweet and sour business of contemporary, imperial politics.

Meyercord probably mentioned that he was running in the Reston election. A Maryland resident, unable to vote in Virginia, absorbed in my personal problems then, all of that sailed over my head. Conversation was mostly convivial; no one was trying to proselytize; and, in fact, nobody could have. Blum is 75 and he’s seen it all; I’m 63 and I’ve seen enough.

Four days after reading the first article on Meyercord, I was e-mailed another, also by Fredrick Kunkle at the Post. Under the headline, “Write-in Effort Blocks ‘Revisionist,” I learned: “A last-minute campaign to prevent a self-described Holocaust revisionist from serving on a civic body in Reston has succeeded with a landslide. … Ken Meyercord, who had been running unopposed for an at-large seat on the Reston Citizens Association’s 13-member volunteer board, received only 23 votes after his provocative views on Jews created a backlash.” Debra Steppel, who organized the write-in campaign, called it a “fabulous result.”

Mr. Kunkle wrote that Meyercord was “gracious in conceding,” and that he had congratulated Ms. Steppel for her efforts, although he thought her “misinformed.” Further, the article noted that Meyercord and his wife had lived in Reston since 1977, and that, in “writings and interviews,” he had expressed doubt that Nazi Germany had a “mission to annihilate European Jews, a plan known as the Final Solution.” Meyercord had also denied that Nazis used gas chambers to murder Jews, and he had “expressed skepticism that the number of Holocaust victims reached 6 million.”

By now, my interest was more than piqued, and I asked Meyercord to send me some of his writing. As a half-Jew with Zionists, anti-Zionists and the indifferent, ignorant and uniformed within my own extended family; as a fan of Paine and Thoreau, Martin Buber, Rilke and Hesse; as a man vitally interested in my world and human psychology, I wanted to know more about this tempest in a teapot in Reston and how it might relate to our confused, violent and pernicious modern macro world.

Perusing Meyercord’s work, I found him to be more apologetic than inflammatory. In “In Search of a Holocaust Denier,” he writes, “What I would like to offer here is a rationale—a plea, really—for investigating all aspects of the holocaust story in an atmosphere free of rancor, intolerance, and intimidation. I believe we can learn from history and that it will be a better world if we do. Of course, to learn from history, we have to have an accurate understanding of what happened. …”

Meyercord describes how the “goose-stepping … siegheiling” Nazis endlessly portrayed by Hollywood and the other media provided little insight into “how a man like Hitler could have risen to power in one of the most sophisticated countries on earth.” He deplores the fact that we have learned so little from the Nazi era, noting that the Foreign Minister of Israel [Avigdor Lieberman] has advocated the deportation of all Palestinians from Eretz [Greater] Israel. Those who have challenged holocaust orthodoxy have found themselves exiled to an academic wilderness—a la Norman Finkelstein in the U.S.—or imprisoned—like David Irving in Austria! And, in that same reasonable, almost apologetic mode, he asks, “Wouldn’t it be better to dispel the myths surrounding the holocaust now, while anti-Semitism is a neglibible factor in American society, than at some future date when hard times lead desperate, angry Americans to look around for a scapegoat?”

So much for the overview of Meyercord’s approach. He’s not some glib-tongued salesman for neo-Nazism. His argumentation is tightly reasoned and far less fiery and provocative than, say, Limbaugh’s, O’Reilly’s, Hannity’s or Coulter’s. He directs his readers (and directed me in a short phone interview of him) to two websites for further exploration of the issues:

Meyercord describes himself as a “revisionist,” not a holocaust denier. He notes: “What causes revisionists to be misrepresented and slandered by the believers is their denial of three constituent parts of the holocaust story:

1. That there was a plan to exterminate the Jews, aka, “The Final Solution.”

2. That gas chambers were used in the execution of that plan; and

3. That no less than six million Jews died as a result.

He offers his own refutations of the predominant “holocaust story” and directs us to others for more detail.

The question I have to ask now is, How is this relevant to our post-9/11 world?

It is relevant because past is prelude, and those who don’t learn the lessons of the past, as Santayana said … well, you know the rest.

It’s relevant because we would rather kill each other to defend the sanctity of our myths—religious, ideological, nationalistic/patriotic—than smash the idols of our perceptions—and misperceptions.

It’s relevant because a thoughtful man’s views of history or religious dogma is irrelevant to the performance of his duties and responsibilities as a citizen in a local civic organization.

It is relevant because every tin-pot dictator who appears on the scene—a Noriega, a Saddam Hussein—who loses the favor of the U.S. imperial regime; and every populist leader—an Ahmadinejead, a Hugo Chavez, a Fidel Castro—is inevitably compared to Hitler and threatened with regime change, or having his country “wiped off the map,” or has, in fact, been invaded. Hitler has become the gold standard of evil—and that incubus colors every other form of evil. We have personalized and incarnated evil, ignorance and brutality, and exonerated the institutions, the social forms and mechanisms of control, the psychologies and hysterias still very much with us today.

It is relevant because most Americans don’t know squat about Zionism or the role that Jewish nationalism played in the run-up to World War I, the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire, the disastrous Versailles treaty, the Balfour Declaration, etc. (Meyercord, in fact, does not touch on any of this in his writing or in his interviews with me or with Fred Kunkle at the Post.)

It is relevant because whether 6 million Jews died or 1 million died—there still is no justification for the expropriation of another people’s land, resources, country. (My mother taught me as a child, “Two wrongs don’t make a right.”)

Meyercord’s little dust-up in a D.C. suburb leaves us with three big ponderables:

1. A question of censorship

2. A moral question

3. The historical record

Ms. Steppel’s write-in campaign, and the voters of Reston, attempted to censor Meyercord’s words and beliefs. They did not vote on the man’s competence, his willingness and ability to serve his local community. They voted against his convictions, at which he had arrived after carefully examining the evidence, his life and the promptings of his conscience. He lived for six months in Beirut, traveled in Israel, has had a long, fulfilling marriage to a Palestinian woman. They raised two children who attended Reston’s public schools. No doubt his unique experiences have enriched his perspective. How does censorship and expurgation serve the public interest? In our intertwined world, are we not all safer reaching out, trying to understand “the other”?

The moral question has too often reduced itself to “my suffering is better than your suffering.” Suffering employed this way has little or nothing to do with morality, much to do with religious dogma. It is suffering as justification—for outrageous reparations (against Germans,for example, no more guilty for World War I than Brits, the French, the Americans, the Russians). It is suffering employed as the ultimate rationale for “man’s inhumanity to man,” “nature red in tooth and claw,” etc. It is suffering memorialized as stasis (James Peebles here: “a static universe isn’t physically self-consistent). It is suffering as rationalization for continuing the empires of destruction, wreaking havoc and revenge on more innocents, continuing the whole ghastly process (“They will take evil and call it good. They will take the lie and call it the truth.”)

As for the historical record, it has always been a rather murky affair. In my entire lifetime, God has never spoken to me once out of the Whirlwind, and I have been waiting for 46 years to find out what really happened on November 22, 1963. Einstein said God doesn’t play dice with the Universe, and Bohr told Einstein to stop telling God what to do! God may not play dice, but He/She/It certainly keeps His/Her/Its cards close to His/Her/Its chest/bosom/ineffable mystery.

Which means I’ve got to keep digging. I have to keep disturbing the universe, checking my notes and revising my memes because in an expanding universe I don’t participate in cosmological events, but I can play my ant-like role in the evolution of awareness and consciousness. “War is finally about betrayal,” as Hedges succinctly and profoundly writes, and I need to know why and how a species that has evolved so magnificently in its technology has, when it comes to interacting with other sentient beings, stymied itself in the Age of Iron and Sky Gods. What gives? What mystery here?

Six million victims or one innocent victim—what compels us to slaughter the innocents under Herod, to crucify Christ for our sins, to burn John Hus for impiety? How shall we employ numbers to justify brutality? Did the death of 20 million Russians in the Great Patriotic War justify the rape of 2 million German women by Russian troops when the Third Reich collapsed? The ghost voices of tens of millions of native peoples of the Americas rise up and cry for justice. What reparations can we pay them? Millions of Africans, lost in the “Middle Passage” of the slave trips, sweated to death among the sugar canes of the Caribbean and the cotton and tobacco plantations of the New (old!) World—what memorials shall we build for them, what is their due?

How do we make equivalences? I suffered, my family suffered, my people suffered … therefore, I have the right to. … What? Wreak vengeance? Upon the innocents?

Probably it is too much to hope for forgiveness—either given or gotten. Humans are not, generally, constituted that way. Except for a few saints we’ve usually managed to crucify upside down, boil in oil, or murder with a thousand cuts.

But we may, possibly, hope for clarity, breaking the cycle of wrong for wrong, by excavating the truths, the hidden causes, penetrating the whirlwind of confusion and setting the record straight–because in this melange of pulsating life called Earth, it’s looking more and more like we’d better all pull on the oars together or we’re all going down together. And it looks more and more like Eugene Debs, who said so much well, said this one perfectly: “While there is one soul in prison, I am not free.”

What else but to know the true history of the human mind and heart—to extricate ourselves, to beam the searchlights in terra incognita, confront our demons, shake our wings loose from the chrysalis of so much ignorance, blood-lust, power-lusting, arrogance, fear, greed and stupidity?

The other day I was telling a relative of mine that my 1961 edition of the venerable Encylcopedia Britannica contained only two short paragraphs on the holocaust in its entire 24 volumes of fine print, and that the holocaust wasn’t even referred to as “the holocaust.” I pointed out that the series of events now known as “the holocaust” (or sometimes as the “shoah”) didn’t have its own entry, being only briefly mentioned in the articles on Adolf Hitler and the Jews. She found this incredible.

The point I was trying to make is that back then “the holocaust,” in the words of French politician Jean-Marie Le Pen, was merely a “footnote of history,”* whereas today it has become the central event of WWII, and indeed, of the entire 20th Century. Few people know that Stalin and his Jewish commissar Lazar Kaganovich deliberately starved 10 million Ukrainian peasants to death while Western Europe and the United States turned a blind eye, but every schoolchild today “knows” that Adolf Hitler and the Germans killed 6 million perfectly innocent Jews in gas chambers. How did this popularization of the holocaust come about? Simple. Starting in the 1970’s, Jews, using their disproportionate power and influence in the mass media and academia, began a relentless propaganda campaign. That’s how.

My relative wanted to know who the publishers of the Encyclopedia Britannica were in 1961. I guess what she was driving at is that maybe the encyclopedia was owned by Nazi-sympathizers. Well, after doing some research on the net, we didn’t find any evidence that its owners were secret Nazis, but we did discover that since 1996, the Encyclopedia Britannica has been owned by Jewish billionaire Jacqui (Jacob) Eli Safra! Safra is a movie producer and the heir of a Jewish banking family. Additionally, starting in May 2001, Britannica’s CEO was an Israeli Jew named Ilan Yeshua, who had previously worked for the Tel Aviv-based educational technology firm Centre for Educational Technology, which was aquired by Safra’s Britannica.com. Yet more evidence of how pervasive is the Jewish domination of our mass media.

If anyone out there has access to both a 1995 and a 1998 (or later) version of the Encyclopedia Britannica, I would be very curious to hear what you discover when comparing the articles on, say, Israel, particularly in regards to the neutrality of its portrayal of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

* UPDATE: According to this article, it would seem that Le Pen didn’t actually say that the holocaust was a “footnote of history,” but rather, that the alleged homicidal gas chambers were a minor “detail of history.” Well, if Le Pen didn’t say it, I will: the holocaust is a mere footnote of history.

“Gaza is not on the Pope’s itinerary, nor will it be. There will be no change in these plans. But I’ll say it very clearly, the Pope is absolutely not going to Gaza.”

Such were the astounding comments made by the Pope’s spokesman in Israel, Wadie Abunasser, prior to Pope Benedict XVI visiting Palestine and Israel.

As if there was no massacre in Gaza, no families entirely slaughtered, no human rights violated to match the record of the most grisly of crimes in modern history. As if Gaza were a mere irritant in the annals of human suffering. More, as if there were no Catholic flock in Gaza. To clarify, there are actually nearly 2,000 Catholics in Gaza, apparently not important enough for the ‘cut’.

Now, there are a lot of important religious sites to see around the Holy Land, lots of old churches, stones, ruins and the like…sites of much more significance, such as the Western Wall, the Holy Sepulcher and so on… far more important than visiting the site of a fresh massacre, where the stench of rotting bodies – laid to rest beneath a tomb consisting of the rubble of their own homes – has just faded. Such sites are apparently of little import to the Holy See. Rather, there are memorials to victims of greater standing, in shrines of superior grandeur, such as Yad Vashem…now, that’s something to see.

On a trip that was apparently dedicated to promoting “reconciliation”, it is baffling that Pope Benedict made little mention of the Israeli occupation of Palestine as a source of discord. Imagine that. But what he did say was, “Allow me to make this appeal to all the peoples of these lands: No more bloodshed! No more fighting! No more terrorism! No more war! Instead let us break the viscous circle of violence.”

As if he was imploring two nations with common grievances, with mutually strong armies and nuclear arsenals. As if he were exhorting two peoples, both of which have access to clean water, both of which are properly nourished and educated. Or to put it another way, as if both peoples face the daily threat of their house being toppled while they are held up inside by an occupying army, as if both peoples face the daily threat of arrest, extra-judicial execution, the humiliation of curfews and checkpoints.

The Vatican needs some serious introspection. It ought to replace its highly politicized and, frankly, questionable apologies, with an earnest apology to oppressed people, who might have little political worth. The Pope should apologize to Palestinians and to Gazans in particular for failing to appreciate the seriousness of their plight, for cozying up to the very Israeli leaders who champion the suffering in Gaza, and fail to console the very victim of their onslaught.

More, as an institution that has garnered the reputation of advocating social justice throughout the world in recent years, the Catholic Church must abandon its current course, cowering before Israeli leaders, its Holy Father imparting such smug condescension on a nation that has endured a slow and gradual process of genocide for the past six decades.

Wishy-washy is the term that comes to mind. While he never wavered from condemning the “godless nation” that carried out the Holocaust, his references to Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine were so indistinct, that it was difficult to make any clear separation between the aggressor and the victim. As he witnessed with his own eyes the monstrosity of the Apartheid Wall, his comments were painfully elusive, “How earnestly we pray for an end to the hostilities that have caused this wall to be built.” Oh really? Is this all the Holy Father has to say? Never mind occupation. Never mind hunger. Never mind randomly closing schools for months on end and denying an entire nation the right to education. But now we are talking about illegal weapons being used on civilian populations in Gaza. Now we are talking about a wall that has been declared “illegal” by the International Court of Justice. There is simply no time or place here for indecisiveness and moral flexibility.

And it is completely unacceptable for anyone to have the ‘audacity’ to urge Palestinian youth not to allow, as the Holy Father stated, “the loss of life and the destruction you have witnessed to arouse bitterness or resentment in your hearts”. More, when making a stop at Aida Refugee Camp, he blamed the plight of the displaced population on “the turmoil that has afflicted this land for decades.” It would have been far more favorable for him to stay home and not insult these sites of misery at all.

But in the end, the Pope finally was able to muster up some courage and took one truly audacious stand: When at the Notre Dame Center in Jerusalem, the Palestinian Authority’s chief Islamic judge, Sheikh Tayseer Rajab Tamimi, declared that Israelis had killed innocent women and children in Gaza, the Pope stood up and in an act of defiance, walked out. Now that’s courage.

The Palestinians, and millions of people around the world, expected more from a person who should be advocating the New Testament teaching: “let justice flow like a river and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”

But the Pope has proven fallible, after all.

when i was teaching the play my name is rachel corrie this semester the subject of anti-semitism came up. there is a part of the play where rachel talks about how difficult it is for non-jews to speak about palestine in the u.s. because of the way that people silence you and say you’re anti-semitic. in the process of discussing this monologue it came up that many of my students think that the nazi holocaust is something that is fabricated. i had not encountered such a view in palestine before, but i understand why it exists and where it comes from. given the ways in which the nazi holocaust has been used against palestinians both as a pretext to steal their land, massacre palestinians, and ethnically cleanse them, i can understand how such thinking might emerge. given that the nazi holocaust has been used to silence those who speak about palestine, i can understand why people may doubt it or question it. but here is the thing. by questioning something that is factually based one only plays into those zionist hands and allows them to say, “oh, see, palestinians are anti-semitic.” also, by quibbling over numbers about how many people were killed in the nazi holocaust you are doing exactly what you don’t want done to you. those who know the facts about palestine, for instance, don’t want people to quibble over the historical facts about the 531 villages that were destroyed or the 750,000 palestinians forcibly removed from their homes during an nakba.

this is not, of course, a majority view in palestine. i think it speaks to the weak education that i have encountered in nablus as well as the lack of access to reading materials here. but at the same time zionists themselves initiated the abuse of and distortion of the nazi holocaust. at the recent aipac (american israel public affairs committee) meeting in washington dc the key item up for discussion was iran as the new germany, ahmadinejad as the new hitler. just check out this speech given there by republican congressman from virginia eric cantor for a glimpse into how this rhetoric pairs the two together in ways that defy logic, history, and reality:

notice cantor remarks at the beginning “at what moment was it too late” in reference to hitler. then he moves into iran with his completely baseless propaganda that “amhadinejad dreams of finishing hitler’s work.” he speaks as if this is true and it is 100% false. i’ll offer an example in a moment, but first look at this discussion on al jazeera’s “inside story” a couple of nights ago with imran garda. he hosted three speakers: imad gad from the al ahram center in cairo, former deputy assistant secretary of state for near eastern affairs david mack, and israeli terrorist colonist dan diker with the jerusalem centre for public affairs. here is the episode:

from the outset of the debate you can see diker move right in sync with the new aipac policy agenda:

Both Egypt and Israel are being directly threatened by the Islamic Republic of Iran and their proxies Hezbollah and Hamas, which have now threatened the life of Mr. Mubarak and threatening the Egyptian regime. And they are threatening Israel through their surrogate Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in the north, and Iranian proxies in the West Bank including Islamic Jihad and Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades. So both leaders had a very strong set of interests to discuss that both include the Palestinian issue and twinned with the much larger strategic threat that Iran poses to both nations and indeed the entire Sunni establishment in the Middle East.

divide and rule. the big picture. uri avnery, a colonist in the zionist entity, refutes these claims at least in part in an article on anti-war.com:

Like a traveling salesman offering a counterfeit product, Peres is now peddling the merchandise called Binyamin Netanyahu. He presents to the world a Netanyahu we have never known: a peacemaker, the epitome of truthfulness, a man with no other ambition than to go down in history as the founder of the state of Palestine. A Righteous Jew to outshine all Righteous Gentiles.

However, all these lies are nothing compared to trivializing the Holocaust.

In some countries, that is a criminal offense, punishable by prison. The trivializing has many guises. For example: the assertion that the gas chambers never existed. Or: that not 6 million Jews were killed, but only six hundred thousand. But the most dangerous form of minimizing is the comparison of the Holocaust to passing events, thus turning it into “a detail of history,” as Jean-Marie Le-Pen infamously put it.

This week, Shimon Peres committed exactly this crime.

Like a lackey walking in front of the king, strewing flowers on the road, Peres flew to the U.S. to prepare the ground for Netanyahu’s coming visit. He imposed himself on a reluctant Barack Obama, who had no choice but to receive him.

Posing as a new Winston Churchill, the man who warned the world against the rise of Nazi Germany, he informed Obama with solemn bombast: “As Jews we cannot but compare Iran to Nazi Germany.”

About this sentence at least three things must be said: (a) it is untrue, (b) it trivializes the Holocaust, and (c) it reflects a catastrophic policy.

Does Iran really resemble Nazi Germany?

I don’t like the regime there. As a committed atheist who insists on total separation between state and religion, I oppose any regime based on religion – in Iran, in Israel, or in any other country.

Also, I don’t like politicians like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. I am allergic to leaders who stand on balconies and declaim to the masses below. I detest demagogues who appeal to the base instincts of hatred and fear.

Alas, Ahmadinejad is not the only leader of this type. Indeed, the world is full of them; some are among the staunchest supporters of the Israeli government. In Israel, too, we do not lack this sort.

But Iran is not a fascist state. According to the evidence, there is quite a lot of freedom there, including freedom of expression. Ahmadinejad is not the only candidate for president in the present election campaign. There are a number of others, some more radical, some less.

Nor is Iran an anti-Semitic state. A Jewish community, whose members are refusing to emigrate, is living there comfortably enough. It enjoys religious freedom and has a representative in parliament. Even if we take such reports with a grain of salt, it is clear that the Jews in Iran are not being persecuted like the Jews in Nazi Germany.

And, most important: Iran is not an aggressive country. It has not attacked its neighbors for centuries. The long and bloody Iraq-Iran war was started by Saddam Hussein. It may be remembered that at the time Israel (contrary to the U.S.) supported the Iranian side and supplied it with arms. (One such transaction was accidentally disclosed in the Irangate affair.) Before the Khomeini revolution, Iran was our most important ally in the region.

Ahmadinejad hates Israel. But it has been denied that he has threatened to annihilate Israel. It appears that the crucial sentence in his famous speech was mistranslated: he did not declare his determination to wipe Israel off the map, but expressed the opinion that Israel will disappear from the map.

Frankly, I don’t think that there is such a great difference between the two versions. When the leader of a big country predicts that my state will disappear, that makes me worry. When that country appears to do everything possible to produce a nuclear bomb, that worries me even more. I draw conclusions, but about that later.

Moreover, Ahmadinejad – unlike Hitler – is not the supreme leader of his country. He is subject to the real leadership, composed of clerics. All the signs indicate that this is not a group of adventurers. On the contrary, they are very balanced, sophisticated, and prudent. Now they are cautiously feeling their way toward dialogue with the U.S., trying to reach an accord without sacrificing their regional ambitions, which are quite normal.

In brief, the speeches of one demagogic leader do not turn a country into Nazi Germany. Iran is not a mad country. It has no real interests in Israel/Palestine. Its interests are focused on the Persian Gulf area, and it wants to increase its influence throughout the Arab and Muslim world. Its relations with Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas mostly serve this purpose, and so does the anti-Israeli incitement of Ahmadinejad.

In brief, the comparison of Iran to Nazi Germany lacks a factual basis.

you can read the entire article if you click the link, but avnery like a typical israeli or jew devolves into the nazi holocaust is unique bullshit that is part of the problem to begin with. norman finkelstein famously refutes this mythology in his groundbreaking book, the holocaust industry:

Two central dogmas underpin the Holocaust framework: (1) The Holocaust marks a categorically event; (2) The Holocaust marks the climax of an irrational, eternal Gentile hatred of Jews. Neither of these dogmas figured at all in public discourse before the June 1967 war. (41-42)

and why was it only after 1967? because they needed that argument to rationalize their colonial expansionist project in the west bank and gaza strip. after that deviation, avnery concludes his article as follows:

Does the comparison of Iran to Nazi Germany serve Israeli interests?

Iran is there. It was our ally in the past, and may be our ally again in the future. Leaders come and go, but geopolitical interests are more or less constant. Ahmadinejad may be replaced by a leader who will see Iranian interests in a different light.

The nuclear threat to Israel will not disappear – not after a (bad) speech by Peres nor after a (good) speech by Netanyahu. All over the region, nuclear installations will pop up. This process cannot be stopped. We all need nuclear energy to desalinate water and to produce electricity without destroying the environment. As an Israeli professor, a former employee in the nuclear center at Dimona, said this week: we must reconsider our nuclear policy. It may well be to our advantage to accept the demand of the American spokeswoman that Israel (as well as India and Pakistan) join the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty and a regime of strict supervision.

President Barack Obama is now saying to Israel: Put an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. That is a precondition for the elimination of the threat to Israel. When the Palestinians, and the entire Arab world, make peace with Israel, Iran will not be able to exploit the conflict for the furthering of its interests. We were saying this, by the way, many years ago.

The refusal of Netanyahu-Lieberman-Barak to accept this demand shows the insincerity of their arguments about Iran. If they really believed that Iran posed an existential menace, they would hurry to dismantle the settlements, demolish the outposts, and make peace. That would, after all, be a small price to pay for the elimination of an existential danger. Their refusal proves that the entire existential story is a bluff.

and it seems as though they are willing to go it alone whether or not the americans help them as daniel luban and jim lobe explained in their article for ips:

Given its preoccupation with AfPak and with stabilising the region as a whole, the Pentagon has naturally been disinclined to increase tensions with Iran, which shares lengthy borders with Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan and could easily make life significantly more difficult for the U.S. in each of the three countries.

But the new Israeli government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is pushing the U.S. to confront Iran over its nuclear programme, and his allies in the U.S. have similarly argued that Iran should be a top priority.

For the moment, the Iran hawks have mostly expressed muted – if highly sceptical – support for Obama’s diplomatic outreach to Tehran. But they have warned that this outreach must have a “short and hard end date”, as Republican Sen. Jon Kyl put it at the AIPAC conference, at which point the U.S. must turn to harsher measures.

AIPAC’s current top legislative priority is a bill, co-sponsored by Kyl and key Democrats, that would require Obama to impose sanctions on foreign firms that export refined petroleum products to Iran.

In recent Congressional testimony, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the administration would support such “crippling” sanctions against Tehran if diplomacy did not work, but she declined to say how long the administration would permit diplomatic efforts to play out before taking stronger action.

While sanctions seem to be the topic du jour, the possibility of military action against Tehran remains on everybody’s mind, as does the question of whether Israel would be willing to strike Iranian nuclear facilities without Washington’s approval.

In March, Netanyahu told The Atlantic that “if we have to act, we will act, even if America won’t.”

Asked at the AIPAC conference whether Israel would attack Iran without a “green light” from the U.S., former Israeli deputy defence minister Ephraim Sneh joked that in Israel, stoplight signals are “just a recommendation.”

and paul craig roberts’ piece in counterpunch last week explains some of the dangers of privileging the nazi holocaust in all its so-called uniqueness in order to shield the zionist entity’s massive war crimes:

On October 16, 2004, President George W. Bush signed the Israel Lobby’s bill, the Global Anti-Semitism Review Act. This legislation requires the US Department of State to monitor anti-semitism world wide.

To monitor anti-semitism, it has to be defined. What is the definition? Basically, as defined by the Israel Lobby and Abe Foxman, it boils down to any criticism of Israel or Jews.

As soon as he gets the Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 passed, it will become a crime for any American to tell the truth about Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and theft of their lands.

It will be a crime for Christians to acknowledge the New Testament’s account of Jews demanding the crucifixion of Jesus.

It will be a crime to report the extraordinary influence of the Israel Lobby on the White House and Congress, such as the AIPAC-written resolutions praising Israel for its war crimes against the Palestinians in Gaza that were endorsed by 100 per cent of the US Senate and 99 per cent of the House of Representatives, while the rest of the world condemned Israel for its barbarity.

It will be a crime to doubt the Holocaust.

It will become a crime to note the disproportionate representation of Jews in the media, finance, and foreign policy.

In other words, it means the end of free speech, free inquiry, and the First Amendment to the Constitution. Any facts or truths that cast aspersion upon Israel will simply be banned.

Given the hubris of the US government, which leads Washington to apply US law to every country and organization, what will happen to the International Red Cross, the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, and the various human rights organizations that have demanded investigations of Israel’s military assault on Gaza’s civilian population? Will they all be arrested for the hate crime of “excessive” criticism of Israel?

This is a serious question.

A recent UN report, which is yet to be released in its entirety, blames Israel for the deaths and injuries that occurred within the United Nations premises in Gaza. The Israeli government has responded by charging that the UN report is “tendentious, patently biased,” which puts the UN report into the State Department’s category of excessive criticism and strong anti-Israel sentiment.

Israel is getting away with its blatant use of the American government to silence its critics despite the fact that the Israeli press and Israeli soldiers have exposed the Israeli atrocities in Gaza and the premeditated murder of women and children urged upon the Israeli invaders by rabbis. These acts are clearly war crimes.

It was the Israeli press that published the pictures of the Israeli soldiers’ T-shirts that indicate that the willful murder of women and children is now the culture of the Israeli army. The T-shirts are horrific expressions of barbarity. For example, one shows a pregnant Palestinian woman with a crosshairs over her stomach and the slogan, “One shot, two kills.” These T-shirts are an indication that Israel’s policy toward the Palestinians is one of extermination.

It has been true for years that the most potent criticism of Israel’s mistreatment of the Palestinians comes from the Israeli press and Israeli peace groups. For example, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz and Jeff Halper of ICAHD have shown a moral conscience that apparently does not exist in the Western democracies where Israel’s crimes are covered up and even praised.

Will the American hate crime bill be applied to Haaretz and Jeff Halper? Will American commentators who say nothing themselves but simply report what Haaretz and Halper have said be arrested for “spreading hatred of Israel, an anti-semitic act”?

Many Americans have been brainwashed by the propaganda that Palestinians are terrorists who threaten innocent Israel. These Americans will see the censorship as merely part of the necessary war on terror. They will accept the demonization of fellow citizens who report unpalatable facts about Israel and agree that such people should be punished for aiding and abetting terrorists.

A massive push is underway to criminalize criticism of Israel. American university professors have fallen victim to the well organized attempt to eliminate all criticism of Israel. Norman Finkelstein was denied tenure at a Catholic university because of the power of the Israel Lobby. Now the Israel Lobby is after University of California (at Santa Barbara,) professor Wiliam Robinson. Robinson’s crime: his course on global affairs included some reading assignments critical of Israel’s invasion of Gaza.

The Israel Lobby apparently succeeded in convincing the Obama Justice (sic) Department that it is anti-semitic to accuse two Jewish AIPAC officials, Steven Rosen and Keith Weissman, of spying. The Israel Lobby succeeded in getting their trial delayed for four years, and now Attorney General Eric Holder has dropped charges. Yet, Larry Franklin, the DOD official accused of giving secret material to Rosen and Weissman, is serving 12 years and 7 months in prison.

The absurdity is extraordinary. The two Israeli agents are not guilty of receiving secrets, but the American official is guilty of giving secrets to them! If there is no spy in the story, how was Franklin convicted of giving secrets to a spy?

Criminalizing criticism of Israel destroys any hope of America having an independent foreign policy in the Middle East that serves American rather than Israeli interests. It eliminates any prospect of Americans escaping from their enculturation with Israeli propaganda.

To keep American minds captive, the Lobby is working to ban as anti-semitic any truth or disagreeable fact that pertains to Israel. It is permissible to criticize every other country in the world, but it is anti-semitic to criticize Israel, and anti-semitism will soon be a universal hate-crime in the Western world.

Most of Europe has already criminalized doubting the Holocaust. It is a crime even to confirm that it happened but to conclude that less than 6 million Jews were murdered.

Why is the Holocaust a subject that is off limits to examination? How could a case buttressed by hard facts possibly be endangered by kooks and anti-semitics? Surely the case doesn’t need to be protected by thought control.

Imprisoning people for doubts is the antithesis of modernity.

From 1945 and up to 1987, about 76,000,000 people have been murdered in cold blood by one regime or another. Add another 10 -14 million people since then, to get a grand total of about 90 million killed.

Here is Ahmadinejad’s speech at the Durban II conference. Halfway through, you truly get a sense of his Shiite roots and the Shiite theme of fighting against oppression/injustice is expressed.

“The victory of right over wrong and the establishment of a just world system has been promised by the Almighty God and his messengers…”

Important to note is that (in my opinion at least) Zionism does not equal Judaism.The line is ambiguous, true. And Ahmadinejad certainly isn’t the most likely person to take part in a Passover seder, but that doesn’t mean that everything he says is automatically anti-Jewish. He is criticizing Israel and those that blindly support its state policies, and use the Holocaust as a political tool.

Personally, I think that an Israeli minister issuing a statement condemning Iran from the gates of Auschwitz is one of the most disgusting displays — and one of the most flagrant abuses of Jewish suffering during the Holocaust as a way to further political aims — I’ve seen in recent memory. We must never forget what happened at Auschwitz. But using the horrors that occurred there (some of the most heart-wrenching things I’ve ever seen; I visited Oswiecim one year ago) to give a free pass to Israel? It’s reprehensible, and whoever speaks out against such a “Holocaust Industry” (to quote Norman Finkelstein) – Iranian, or not – should be applauded.

It brings to mind the defiance of the Palestinian resistance, including its use of the hand carried bomb, whose purpose is to strike against the nation, the people of the nation that have invaded your country, ravaged its cities towns and hamlets, brought death, starvation and suffering to your people, displaced your country’s population, absorbed your homes, farms, private property to their own purposes and to let them know that so long as they carry out the occupation and absorption of your country they will be bombed, they will not live in peace, they will not enjoy the fruits of their genocidal crimes.

A friend of mine recently sent me the following two reviews of the newly released film Defiance and recommended that I be sure to see it.

The film Defiance is one of a group of films that have appeared this year with a similar theme involving the decade long nazi led German government’s assault on humanity. The spate of films include The Boy With The Striped Pajamas, Valkyrie, and The Reader.

The question that must arise because of this sudden renewal of the genre is,

—Is it a result of the increasing criticism of the Jewish Zionist led, Christian Zionist supported Israeli government 60 year murderous assault on the people of Palestine as Israel occupies and absorbs the Palestine beyond Israel’s internationally recognized borders demonstrated by its latest barbarous assault on the Gaza sector of Palestine?

This new movie about the brothers Bielskis, heroes during the brief decade long period of the nazi-led German government’s assault on humanity, is amongst the myriad of all kinds of material about the period. Yehuda Bauer, academic advisor to Yad Vashem in Israel, put it this way on January 27, 2006 at the first commemoration of nazi led Germany’s victims at the United Nations,

“….why is there a flood of fiction, theater, films, TV series, and music, and, of course, historical, sociological, philosophical, psychological, and other academic research, a flood that has rarely if ever been equaled in dealing with any other historical event?”

Bauer asks the question as a rhetorical question in his speech—it is a good question– and he has his answer and I have mine.

From my perspective, there are two reasons for the flood. The first and foremost reason is that it makes a hero out of the United States in its historical narrative. The scenario as it is played out in the narrative of the United States is that the “forces of freedom and democracy” defeated “the forces of totalitarianism and genocidal despotism”. So much of a hero, in fact, that the three centuries of the organized, industrial, capture, transport, enslavement and murder of millions of Africans and indigenous people of this land is shuttled into the background. So much so that the racist characteristics of the nazi led venture with its racial courts–to detect non-aryans using the tools developed by the eugenics movement in the United States– is also shunted into the background as the United States’ racially segregated armed forces engaged them.

Imagine —a centuries old industry that has special forces and traders engaged in the capture of humans, has a whole industry that builds special transport ships for its human cargo, has specific insurance for the transport, has an industry that produces special iron forged instruments of containment and torture, has an international trade involving the production and sale of rum as the finance for the human cargo, has a whole religious, philosophical academic rationale for the industry, has special training camps and personnel for breaking the will of the captured, has an entire society built on the premise of this industry for centuries. Then, when the flood described by Bauer of the nazi led decade is considered, there is scarcely, in comparison, a trickle of the myriad of descriptions possible, in the vast variety of genre that Bauer lists, of this enormous racist human crime of the United States.

This is not a comparative analysis of the two historical events but, instead, it is a description of how the one historical event in its emphasis and abundance, in its “flood” as Bauer puts it, about the decade of the nazi led German government’s atrocities, is used, on the one hand, to embellish the United States historical narrative and, on the other hand, to subsume and to smother the enormous, unspeakable, human genocidal atrocities committed for centuries by the racist, slave holders controlled United States government.

The second and equally relevant reason has been examined in detail by Norman Finkelstein in his consummate study of the “flood” phenomenon in his books The Holocaust Industry, Reflections On The Exploitation of Jewish Suffering and Beyond Chutzpah, On The Misuse of Anti-Semitism and The Abuse of History.

So as much as I am inspired by the recounting of the stories of the heroes that opposed the Nazi led atrocities, the story of my family’s participation in the resistance in Italy and of my family’s and the myriad of other family’s organized resistance to the racism of the United States will have to suffice until this latter issue is seriously dealt with and the “flood” of the stories about the nazi-led German government is recognized for the purposes it serves independent of the accounts of its victims.

Yet, in spite of my inclination, Kim Voynar’s review of the film makes a relevant point. She writes,

“..Defiance tells a tale of a group of Jews who fought back against the Nazis, who survived against all odds through conditions that would thwart the best of us, were we to suddenly find ourselves uprooted from our cozy lives, and for that it stands out amidst other films about the Holocaust as a film not just about survival, but about an uprising of the spirit, led by these brothers who refused to site back and be victims. If they were going to die, they were going to die fighting, and they imbued their band of ragtag, displaced villagers with the desire to not just survive, but to survive by fighting against their enemy.”

Her statement brings to mind the story of the defiance of the people of Vermont to slavery written into the Vermont Constitution.

Her statement brings to mind the story of the defiance of John Brown who was amongst the first to oppose the racist led United States government’s support of slavery.

It brings to mind the story of the defiance of Nat Turner whose assault on the population of the racist slave holders is part of the unrequited history of the resistance of the African slaves in the United States

It brings to mind the story of the defiance of Geronimo who fought the long resistance to the racist colonization of what has become the United States.

It brings to mind the story of the defiance of the Lincoln Brigade that was amongst the first to oppose fascism when it appeared in Spain supported by the nazi-led German government.

It brings to mind the story of the defiance of the The White Rose, the group of Germans that opposed the nazi led German government.

It brings to mind the story of the defiance of the Italian Partisans that my family was a part of that captured, tried and hung Mussolini for his crimes against humanity.

It brings to mind the defiance of the Palestinian youth who throw rocks at the behemoth tanks of the racist,colonizing Jewish Zionist led, Christian Zionist supported Israeli government.

It brings to mind the defiance of the Palestinian resistance, including its use of the hand carried bomb, whose purpose is to strike against the nation, the people of the nation that have invaded your country, ravaged its cities towns and hamlets, brought death, starvation and suffering to your people, displaced your country’s population, absorbed your homes, farms, private property to their own purposes and to let them know that so long as they carry out the occupation and absorption of your country they will be bombed, they will not live in peace, they will not enjoy the fruits of their genocidal crimes.

It brings to mind the hundreds of Palestinians that are now throwing shoes at the all Jewish Israeli armed forces guarding the construction of Israel’s beloved ghetto wall. The Palestinians are imitating the courageous journalist that took off his shoe and threw it at George Bush in disgust at his answers to questions at a news conference.

I finally watched the Israeli film Waltz with Bashir, and I know that so many people found it really good, as it was “putting into questions things”, addressing longstanding issues from within Israel, and showing “the horrors of war”. Here, let me be very skeptical about what Israeli cinema can question, and knowing that this comes from the ‘left’ side of Israeli society, what Israel can ever put into question.

Let me start from a tangent. Anyone seen holocaust movies? Here is a list of Holocaust films from the 1940s on. I had this intuition that no major German movie has been made on the subject. And I was right, German movies really start appearing in the 1970s and only few of them relative to the massive numbers of foreign production. Basically the history of ‘horror’ has been written ‘for’ the German and not ‘by them’ establishing a harsher defeat, a cultural one.

According to a dear German friend of mine, most Germans don’t like these movies (especially the foreign ones) because they feel that they don’t really address the Nazi question in a satisfactory way. More interesting than that: they think that Nazism should probably not be dealt with in images because it would render ordinary and acceptable something that is just unacceptable. It seemed always weird to see Hitler being played by an actor whatever the angle played: Hitler was what he was, no need to ‘play him’.

There is none of that in Waltz with Bashir. In a sense it follows the general line found in Spielberg movie Munich (that is of course much worse), in that it engage the audience with a lot of self-loathing turned into conscience boosting and so in a paradoxical legitimating device. Israelis here are already “playing Israelis” making of them either heroes or anti-heroes which amounts basically to the same thing.

Here are the main ideas that can be drawn from the movie:

1- The real demons are the Phalangists, and the Israelis if anything let things happen. At most, they unleash the real beasts, those with no conscience. The Israelis have a conscience and are always wondering what the hell they are doing. Those with no conscience are the Phalangists. The ‘other’, the enemy has no conscience either, does never talk and Israelis are too self centered in the first place to ask questions about them. The enemy is invisible in any case.

2- There is no real reflection on or dialectical engagement with the enemy (the Palestinians) or the ally (the Christian). It shows how much Israelis is eager to learn about them. Knowing that in reality there were lots of interactions during 1982 and of course before that between the various parties.

3- The actual waltz scene (a guy shooting in the air randomly to the background of Bashir Gemayel’s posters) is quite revealing as it betrays a romanticist tone to the rebellious character of participating in a war. We see in the movie how this waltzer later becomes a practitioner of martial arts and is quite happy of what he has done all his life. It is a bit like American movies on Vietnam which ends up making the soldiers look like heroes because they actually ‘been through this’. The audience sympathize with these character. It is the anti-hero, the pop-culture hero.

4- The most flagrant thing is that at no point in the movie do you have this understanding that Israel was wrong to go to war for this or that political reason, at no point are causes discussed or anything like that. Everything stays at the basic level of condemnation of killing and repenting. We are told that soldiers are a bunch of pot smoking adolescents dragged into something they don’t really understand. It is morally charged for no reason. No reason means idealization. Idealization is apologetic.

But Israeli cinema has still hopes. Check for example the documentaries of a guy like Eyal Sivan. Izkor: Slaves of Memory (1991) is a great documentary on the Israeli writing of Jewish history that is taught to kids at all school levels . Izkor, which is the commemoration of the holocaust remembering, really puts into question the idea of Israel and its perception of ‘Arabs’. One idea I found extraordinary in this documentary is how Zionism actually impoverished Jewish multiple source of history, tradition, and relations to the past whether Arabic or other.

Update: Check this article on Hollywood’s (the Americans)  fascination with the Holocaust. Just this year there are already 6 movies out of Hollywood’s machines touching on the subject. I don’t think it is about Germans anymore, but about American culture and their relation to the different narratives exposed in this story. They are writing “the Holocaust” as a multiple story theme to illustrate their concern with death, torture, murder, politics etc. This is not anymore a German event but an American one.

One of the leitmotifs in Greece is how Jews became immensely rich by compensations by Germany or even by Greece which supposedly paid Israel in return to Jewish property (!!!). This is augmented by the “Holocaust Industry” story in which Jews constantly ask money and political support from Germany/ Switzerland for the alleged victims, which is ten-fold the amount originally lost, (if indeed it was lost). I shall not bother to say that the word “Holocaust Industry” appears in Greece most often in the Far-Right or the Far-Left confirming my theory of an unholy alliance between them on this matter, (despite some desperately few voices in the Left to whom I continue to pay tribute).

So when the story broke of greeks seeking compensations of american life-insurances never paid after the 1922 mass persecutions of greeks in Asia Minor by the new turkish state during and after the 1921 Asia Minor Campaign I became curious to know more. Well it appears that the New York Life Insurance Company decided to pay out premiums to the holders of policies sold to persons of greek descent who never claimed them – a decision linked to the indirect recognition that the persecution was part of a genocide policy.

The decision got a huge exposure in Greece in the television and radio; two posts (1, 2) dealing with the subject entered the WordPress Top10 most popular posts on the 21st of September 2008. There were even some interviews of descendants in the television and many people hailed the decision for various reasons.

I would like to clarify that I find this decision by the New York Life Insurance Company absolutely correct and inherently moral. Personally I find the people who wish to get the compensations are acting in a legitimate and just manner, not aimed only in acquiring what is legally theirs but also in acknowledgment of the ethnic cleansing which was applied during the Greco-Turkish War.

Having cleared my personal view I would like to add how interesting was it to see christian greeks acting in the same way that, when practiced by jewish greeks, is considered “greedy”. If I had published anything on the Jewish Claims Conference I know that (far too) many would think “wow, these Jews are aways obsessed with money“. Hell, on seeing the names of some who commented triumphantly on the decision I recognized a couple who are even Holocaust-Deniers! But still, they had no trouble not only acclaiming the decision but asking for more money! I must admit that the inherent hypocrisy of these people shall never seize to amaze me…

In any case out of curiosity I downloaded the pdf containing the names who appear in some of these policies and amazingly I discovered some Jews. They are not many but for the first batch I researched them and confirmed their jewish surnames and names. Amazingly for some I even managed to confirm from independent sources their jewish identity and even profession or birth date. Their names are:

I have no idea of how a claim on these contracts can proceed since the aforementioned Jews were not greek citizens then, (actually some must have acquired greek citizenship by 1921). I intend on notifying the KIS &JCT on the subject and hope that they inform the Jewish Greeks but also turkish and israeli descendants of these families.

Ending I’d like to close with the hope that this case shall render part of the greek public opinion, appearing justly intererested in re-claiming greek property and having acknowledged their plight here but also in other cases like Imvros&Tenedos islands, a bit more tolerant  and more reluctant before motivating jewish actions as “greedy” or motivated by other sinister reasons.  Also viewing ardent “anti-zionists”/Holocaust Deniers cheering the decision, confirmed my belief that antisemitism is transparent and easy to spot as long as one accepts that it exists, since it’s perpetrators are stupid enough not even to remain nominally coherent.
