So yesterday Kari and I went on a routine trip to the Veterinarian.  Routine for us means taking 1 cat and 7 kittens!  That’s volunteering at an animal shelter for ya!  As it turns out the kittens we took in for testing are all healthy and that is a relief!  The older ones are ready for adoption and are healthy.  One kitten has the herpes virus which is common in kittens unfortunately….

Anyway they said they had kittens in the back that security brought in for us.  I said okay and we’d take them when we left, not thinking much of it, because this happens quite a bit especially this time of year!

When I went in the back to get them I was in for a big surprise!  There are 6 of them!!!  And of course we have no foster homes left so it’s all me.  I have 6 kittens in my dining room right now playing like crazy in a kennel.  They are around 5 weeks, but are the size of 3 week old kittens.  They are very petite and we dont’ know why.  They seem very healthy and happy.

I’ve named them after the Twilight books and here they are!

I’m sure I’ve been shoving it down your throats but I start my Day Zero Project tomorrow morning.  Of course I’m starting it on what will be one of the most hectic days I will have in a while.

I’ve got a busy week ahead of me preparing for Jay to get home.  He’s only going to be home for like 5 days so we’ve got to make the best of it!  He’s been working hard lately and not getting much sleep, so I’m hoping to cook him some delicious meals and provide some quiet time at home.  After he leaves this time we’ll be apart until at least August or September.

Speaking of Jay working hard, I was sent a few pictures of him today.  Apparently the Media department has been dropping in on them recently because they are probably the only ones sweating while they are working on the ship!

I’m currently obsessed with taking pictures with my camera and it’s one thing I get to mark off of my list right away!!

I’ve got a petsitting job for this summer for about 30 days watching a kitten adopted from the shelter, his name is Charlie.  He is a little Typhoon and I’m not sure how I’m gonna handle him but hey it’s easy money!

I’m still not sure if I’m going to try and get a few english students here at my home for a “job” or if I’m going to get a real job on base.  I’ve got a lot of concerns about trying to balance a regular job and the shelter, but I”m gonna figure it out.  I’ve opted not to teach at english schools in the evening because once Jay arrives home I would be gone every night of the week and that wouldn’t be cool.

There is something in the air…something in the woods behind my apartment that is tearing up my head!  I’m sneezing, I’m snotting, you name it, I’m doing it!  The weather over here sucks big time.  If it isn’t 90 degrees and miserable, it’s raining and gloomy.  That obviously isn’t helping my allergies any.  It also doesn’t help that I only have a few medicine choices around here!  I tried Claritin and that really hasn’t helped.  Today I got some Alavert so hopefully that will help.  

Yes I realize this isn’t really news but it’s on my mind so you get it!  The good news though is that Levi always knows when I’m not feeling well and rarely gets far from me.  He is sleeping on my lap right now as I type this.  He may annoy me most of the time but I love him through and through!

Jay and I got a more official date today.  It is looking like the 20th of September, he will leave Washington.  This means he will be home for about a week and half and that makes me very very very happy!

I’m trying very hard over the last few weeks to give a crap about politics but no matter how much it effects my life, our life, I can’t seem to.  It’s such a joke to me that I just can’t comprehend it or take it seriously.  Americans are easily brainwashed and that is being proven with everything I see on the news.  No matter who becomes the president, nothing will change for this country.  The days of Presidents who gave a crap about our country are gone.  All they care about now is popularity, money, and lets face it..themselves.  It’s pathetic and I’m going to make it a point to keep on NOT caring.  Whew…I feel better now!

Okay thats all…sorry for the rant!

Things have been relatively busy around here lately.  I haven’t been doing as much writing, so I’ve been filling my time by going to the shelter more.  I want to write more and I am still working for the same place and still enjoy it.  I am however looking into other opportunities as well.  I’m trying to start up my regular writing again, working on my novel and short stories.  I’m lacking a lot of ambition though.  To be honest I can’t seem to figure out how to motivate myself and get myself moving on it.  It isn’t like I don’t want to, I guess I’m just sort of afraid of it right now.  I have a million ideas in my head but none of them seem good enough right now.  I guess I’ll get over it huh!

Things at the shelter have been going really well and I’m really enjoying myself.  I am now a board member as I am in charge of the website now.  Things are very much in the transitioning phases while things are still being handed over from the previous creators, but I will certainly pass along the link for all to see as soon as it is finished.  I have been going in on adoption nights and I enjoy it a lot.  Only one of my 3 fosters, Wilson, is in the shelter right now and she has an application in on her, so hopefully the adoption will go through.  Steel, the black kitten, has been adopted by my friend Mel.  She is now a spoiled little princess and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  Hendrix is still home with me and her eye is still healing.  Hopefully she will be able to head into the shelter soon and get adopted.

This place will be booming again in a few days.  One of our volunteers is moving and I am taking a few of her fosters.  Four of them are sick and older, I should only have them for 2 or 3 days because they are just about healed.  One of the kittens, Squeaky is only 9 weeks old and will be staying with us for another month or so.

Jay is on his way to Washington right now and hopefully he will be home within the next 25 days or so.  I have my fingers crossed and so does he.  We know he will only be home for a week or so but at this point I will seriously take what I can get!  I miss him unbelievably and even though he has only been gone for 3 months it feels like a lot longer!!!

Meg had another great year playing soccer. Our team this year was known as
“The Green Jungle Snakes”. It was a great group of kids, and Meg has become
a good soccer player.

For Zach’s 9th Birthday Party (back in May), he decided to make a movie.

Having gained movie making experience with his critically acclaimed debut,
“Replacement of the King” (a limited engagement in select theaters)
Zach has created another ground breaking epic, “The Quest”.
After weeks of planning with director Laurie Mayhew, Zach and his friends
spent a weekend filming this instant classic.
Special quest appearance was made by Meg Waage.

On President’s Day we all went for a walk in Moran State Park here on Orcas Island.
It had been cold here lately, but we were surprised by the ice formations we found.

Zach performed three pieces at piano recital on Sunday, February 5th.

His first piece was a difficult one for him, but he practiced and practiced
and he nailed it at the recital! It literally brought tears to my eyes.

He did an excellent job and we were very proud of him!

Meg shows off her unique hula style on our trip to Hawaii last Spring.
She’s a natural! And she came prepared with her natural looking skirt made with genuine faux grass.

In Eastsound, Washington, Zach Waage discovers proof of Unicorn existence. On a recent expedition of a 5 Acre parcel on Orcas island, Zach discovered both enchanted Unicorn Poop and fossilized Unicorn remains. Photos Below

Some scientists are baffled at this amazing discovery, but not Zach or his sister Meg. Both are renowned experts in the field on Unicology. Though their theories are controversial, they have consistently maintained that Unicorns have existed throughout history and still exist today. Zach and Meg claim that the newly discovered physical evidence is conclusive proof of their theory.

This cute little guy is a common tree frog in our neck of the woods.
He’s little but his croak is mighty! During the spring evenings the
sound level these little hoppers put out around our small pond
is deafening. Well that’s an overstatement, but it is darn loud.
