DIY: Install Your Own Sol LeWitt Mural
the art sandwich 5 days agoAfter seeing the Sol LeWitt show at MASS MoCA the other week, I installed my own mural in the middle of a floor-to-ceiling bulletin board I use in my office. The dimensions of the square are 60″x 60″. It took four days.What you will need: -Masking Tape -White, Black, Red, Yellow, Blue Latex or Acrylic Paint (make sure that the blue is light enough) Paintbrush X-Acto Blade Ruler 1. Measure a square onto a smooth surface. Mine was 60″ x 60″. Using the making tape, carefully border every outside edge of the square. Make sure to press down on the tape to get maximum flatness. 2. Using the white paint, cover the entire square. Two coats might be necessary. 3. After the white has dried, draw every line on top of the white surface to paint in later. In this mural, all the columns are the same width. In my mural they are 3.5 ” wide. (This varies depending on the size of the square.
