If I’d have known Vincent Gallo was:

The possessor of a mercurial, weepy-willow voice;
A fan of Jandek and Lou Reed;
Even weirder than his movie roles would suggest;
Played in a band called Gray with Basquiat;
Mindful enough to have said this: “Even in art, if my work wasn’t 50 times more interesting than me and my petty life, it would be useless” … check out more great quotes HERE;

That he smeared the N.Y. noise scene with Bohack and RRIICCEE

… I would have started paying attention to his crazy ass a long time ago. Not his ASS per se, I mean, but, you know, his whole body.

“Honey Bunny” — any relation to “Brown Bunny”? — is a single Gallo put out on Warp that has been sitting in my 7-inch archive like an ancient scroll, just waiting to be taken for a stroll.

I had no idea what I was getting into; “Honey Bunny” is an exceptional slice of angsty, art-y Velvet Underground mellow-cool, a tune you can smoke a cigarette to, drink a gin-and-tonic to and start an ill-fated love affair to.

Gallo’s voice is quavery as his character in {Buf. ‘66}, the song creaky as an old staircase in an abandoned loft in upstate New York.

I’d say check this single out, but at this point you’d be crazy not to delve into his full length on Warp, {When}. If it holds even half as many mouth-ajar moments it’ll be worth the trip. It’s interesting how some are so vital they can do anything and succeed …
