Facts/Opinions:

BCK  visited  a few online stores that are frequented by teenagers. Some of the stores were: Forever21, JcPenney, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Delia’s, Target, Walmart, to name a few. After browsing these online shops for a couple of hours, a few things were clear:

1. There aren’t much  variety for girls 7-16 looking for clothing for dressy occasions.
2. Most teenagers tend to shop in the “Junior’s” section as opposed to the “Girl’s” section.
3. Junior’s clothing seem to be a bit more on the sexy, mature side.
4. The “dress” from Walmart was the dressiest clothing in the online store.
5. Junior’s clothing is more fashionable and trendy.
6. Girl’s clothing is a bit on the childish side.

So readers, after reading a few of the comments, facts, and opinions, what are your thoughts on the way that these teenagers dress? Do you feel that in a way, they are victims of  fashion in 2009?

I know what it’s like.  You are buying this banging dress and you know it’s a size too small, but dammit…You are going to get in that dress.

I have done it, too.

But what does it really do to you?  It frustrates you, because you already know, that the squeezing and tucking and pulling is going to result in your lumpy bumpy love lumps making an appearance.

But, you wouldn’t dare buy a dress a size larger, would you?

If I like the dress, but can’t quite do the zip up, I buy it anyway. Why do I do this? Because I’m convinced I am about to lose weight. This is how I think: ‘Look,
there’s a great dress, but it’s not in my size. Maybe I can fit into a size smaller.’

I then try on the dress, fall in love with it and buy it even though it’s too tiny. The dress then sits in the wardrobe waiting for me to lose weight.

Apparently, a third of us are CARROTS. Yes, one-third of womankind spends money
on something they cannot wear, convinced they are on the verge of losing that last half-stone that no one ever loses.

I have friends who have bought skirts they cannot do up, but have hidden the gaping hole in the waistband under a long top.

This is my everyday daytime face.  Sometimes I do more to enhnce my cheeks, beacuse I have big ones.  If I doll up my cheeks then I usually do a neutral glam on the eye and the nude lip.

In my first edition of  “Throwback News”, I take a look at one of the main reasons why I write this blog.  There are just some stereotypes that will never be crushed, but why give the enemy any ammo.

That’s why we have shows like “From G’s to Gents”.

and  VH1’s “Charm School” (I prefer season 1 with Mo’nique…)

Yeah, they are kinda funny and entertaining, but it’s really a serious issue.

Yeah, we have Freedom of Speech but where should the line be drawn in our own conscious.

Sometimes, we just ought to know and act better.

AUGUST 31 (2007)_–A crude “ghetto handbook” distributed to police patrolling Houston’s public schools has resulted in the suspension of one officer.

The eight-page booklet–a copy of which you’ll find below–was handed out in May by a officer with the city’s Independent School District, but did not come to the attention of school brass until recently, when a discrimination complaint was lodged.

The booklet, which was given to about 20 cops, is subtitled “Wucha dun did now?,” and purports to help the reader “learn to speak ebonics as if you just came out of the hood…because you could find you self with a problem one day and ebonics could save your life.”

The booklet offers definitions for street slang like “hoodrat” (”scummy girl”) and “foty” (a 40-ounce bottle of beer) and concludes with a “poem” incorporating these terms [That poem, as many of our readers have noted, is actually the lyrics from "Ebonics," a song by the rapper Big L].

It also includes a copyright notation that the booklet is a “first edition, second soon to follow.” That now appears to be the wishful thinking of a novice author.

The booklet was provided to TSG by school officials who removed the name of the suspended officer from the publication (as well as the names of several other cops who have not been disciplined). (8 pages)

I am at a loss for word after finding this out.

Sandy Spandex: As A Child

Yes, you can put these gaudy gold spandex leggings (from American Apparel) on your tot to wear to….ummm???? I have no idea where a kid would wear these.  Maybe a birthday party or something.   Maybe a play date or gym class.  Church is out of the question.

Once you give a kid a taste of the finer things in life, like gold lame, silver sequins and gold spandex…They’ll only have a few choices for life as an adult.

Miley Cyrus Does Air Lap Dance

It was all the scandal last year, as photos emerged and spread like wildfire on the internet of innocent looking Miley Cyrus and her father for Vanity Fair.  These photos were supposed to be artistic and expressionistic…

Then we had Miley posing in her underwear…

Then we had Miley posing with her[then] boyfriend in a kiss…

Then there were some photos supposedly hacked from her phone and put out on the internet…Ok, so that can be excused…

But in these latest round of photos, Miley Cyrus has gone too far.

Gone are the days when we could simply claim and believe there was a security breach or just a misunderstanding.  Are you starting to see a pattern here?

I think I am.  As a champion for the virtues of young women, I am sorely disappointed that Miley Cyrus is being “pimped out”, or at least it looks that way.  This time, the sleaze bag director of her next movie, Last Song In Georgia”  put these pics up on the internet and claim they were done in fun.

What is up with the director of her latest movie putting these pictures up on his twitter?  Hello, I can say ” Director or not, you’re a dirty old man”, can you?

Yeah, right.

Today marks the first day of the criminal trial against Christopher Comins, or “Inmate #08056483″–as he is known to the Orlando criminal justice system.  Comins was charged with two counts of felony animal cruelty after repeatedly shooting two pet Siberian huskies, Hoochie and Riley, in a field in Orange County, Florida.

Initially my interest in this trial was rather basic and general: the video footage of Comins brutally attacking someone’s family pets was deeply disturbing to me, and I therefore desired to see him punished for his crimes.  But the case took on a whole new meaning last month when the shooter sued me for writing truthful blog entries about his crimes.

If anyone attended the trial today and has updates, please post them in the comments section.  I’m sure others are curious as well.  In the meantime, the only other way I know of to keep track of new developments in the trial is to visit the website, MyOrangeClerk.com.  Navigate to Case No. 08-CF-0017830-O by typing the Defendant’s name in the box.  Be sure to select “Criminal” cases, as Christopher M. Comins has also been involved in a number of Civil cases over the years.

On May 19, 2008, a man named Christopher M. Comins shot two Siberian huskies in a field in Orange County, FL.  I reacted by blogging about the events and how they affected me.

Thanks in part to a grassroots Internet movement and an online petition signed by thousands, Chris Comins now faces third degree felony charges for animal cruelty.

I am now being sued by Christopher Comins for writing about what happened.

As a lover of dogs and of the First Amendment, I believe it was my right to speak out.  I’ve decided to defend that right in court. Even if it means going into debt, I will not allow this rich and powerful man to bully me into silence.
