The day befor thanksgiving brake my small school of 75 students went on a fild trip to roller skate. Yes, a high school took a day off from school to roller skate, have a dance off, and a holla hopping(sp) contest.

I was dressed for the roller rink in a right waisted silver mini skirt that made it, unfortunatly, impossible to holla hop on my waist so I did it around my neck.

Roller Rink Make up tips:

Liquid fondation was aplid over my face. *liquid fondation, though counter intuitive, is the best foundation for oily skin. Dont forget to put a little fondation on the eye lids.

Then light brush of blush arose my checks. If you have lighter skin use a pinker blush if you have olive skin use a plum blush.

Then like normal I put brown shadow along my eye lid crese. Drawing atintion your natural eye’s ’shadows’ is the purpuse of eye shadow noooot for a dash of color.

Since I was thinking roller rink I added a swift diagonal cat eye and a small amount of gold eye shadow were I would normally put eye liner.

Since I didnt have any fake eyelashes I used gobs of mascara and some gold lip gloss as the finishing touches.

“All or Nothing” is Jay Sean’s US debut CD, but his third album in total.  The previous being released in the UK.  The songs on this album are a combination of R&B, pop, and hip/hop.  My opinion would be that the songs on here are very catchy and the perfect commercial songs for the US.  However, if you liked the more upbeat groove of the first single “Down” you maybe a little disappointed.  I also liked how on the song “War” they incorporated marching drums at the end to show that love is about war sometimes.  Most of this album is directed towards slower romance like songs.   Many would be perfect for film with love scenes.  His voice does draw you into the songs, but I have not heard him live yet, so I would like to know if he sounds as clean in person as he does on an album.

If you are into the slower R&B/pop sounds that are around then this is perfect for you.  I would also recommend the candlelight remix of the song “Down.”  It is perfect for someone who likes slower songs.

Snitching

In a society that thrives on images and adapts to lifestyles that aren’t necessarily belonging to everyone, the term snitching seems to saturate the topic of conversation. Taking a factual approach we find that snitching is to become an informant or revealing confidential information. Now no one can stand a rat or an untrustworthy comrade. Betrayal is a hard act to forgive and accept. There is no room for snitching or squealing. Or is it? As I’ve lived on this earth and walked the turf of many neighborhoods, every place has their own code of doing things. But across the board snitching is not allowed! To snitch or not to snitch. That really is the question! I’ve experienced and witnessed the misuse and manipulation of the law and grew a bitter feeling for a lot of the judicial system. I feel it’s better to resolve matters without the law due to this. They are human also! But as I grow wiser I place things in perspective. Due to not snitching: a father sits incarcerated not being able to raise his children, while his comrades are supposedly taking care of them. Due to not snitching the dope boys and out of control “children” run and ruin the neighborhood; with elders and kids afraid to go outside. Due to not snitching a girl grows up into a battered, abused, and sexually violated woman. Now I could respect this code of not snitching if morals were in order. If a person is flat out wrong or guilty, that sucker should own up to his “mess-ups”. What’s weird today though is everyday people seem to hold allegiance to those out doing wrong. And these everyday people are not affiliated with it or benefiting from it at all. Okay maybe they get to lie under the bed in fear of their life being taken but let’s not boast. I can even understand someone not snitching due to fright. They have to live there. But when the tables are turned and it is your house that has been burglarized or your child that has been murdered; what do people ask for on the evening news? In a pitiful voice, “Please turn yourself in” or “If anyone knows anything please call this number”. Well it is only what we are allowing!

POINT BLANK:

A lot of kids are compromised into bad situations and positions because they have no outlet and feel if they did tell they would be considered a snitch. They succumb to a messed up situation with someone they had no affiliation with. But what if he/she looks up to someone that promotes such a hush lifestyle. Hmmmm!

Well Rihanna was right when she said that her new album, “Rated R”  would be a different sound.  But, it is not the right sound for her.  For some who don’t know her previous sound was more of an R&B sound with pop and a little bit of hip/hop.  I know it is good to try new things and to grow as an artist, but this is not a good fit.  I know she has gone through a tough time this year.  Rihanna should have waited a little longer to put a new album out.  She should have looked at the stuff put together soon after her incident and waited about a year and looked other work then put an album together.

The reason I took a look at this album is because I was seeing ads saying that this is the for sure album of the year.  Well I would not put this in that category.  I am disappointed with Rihanna’s new work and would have to say, “Sorry and please try again.”  This is an album to skip this year.  If you want any Rihanna go and get her previous album that was released two years ago.  If you have that album listen to it instead of this attempt of healing.

Finalmente ritornano gli Archive e non solo sotto il punto di vista di nuova release ma proprio come percorso musicale che dopo “Londinium” (primo album, da avere per chi ama il Bristol sound) era stato un pò claudicante.

Tutto il disco è intriso di luci e ombre alternanti e tanto care a certo trip hop di prima maniera. Tempi dilatati sorretti da atmosfere sognati in alcuni momenti e ritmi sostenuti in altri (vedi Bullet o la seconda parte  di Dangervisit). Insomma un buon compromesso per chi ha amato Londinium e chi invece li ha conosciuti con gli ultimi lavori.

Kanye West- I’m so appalled

I seem to start all my posts quite negatively, so apologies for the blatant similarity here.  Scanning down the page, I noticed my previous two posts started with ‘I don’t know anything about (fill in blog subject here).’  My problem this time was my non-existent experience of interviewing anyone in the public eye, and the fact I had never heard of Lady Lykez.

So, with a few hours until I was  due to call her, I did some serious    researching.  What I found was really impressive.  There aren’t many 19 year olds who have already played Glastonbury, T in the Park, worked in America, and supported Method Man and Redman on tour.  She’s also about to release her debut album, Lykez, Camera, Action.

The thing that interested me most was the Method Man link.  I’m probably showing my age here, but I remember when his group, Wu-Tang Clan, became huge in the summer of ’97.  Wu-Tang Forever had just been released, amid massive hype generated from the success of ‘93’s Enter the Wu and various members’ solo albums.  Method Man’s gravel-like, unique voice made me fall in love with every Wu-Tang Forever track featuring hm.

Well aware that the interview was about Lady Lykez and not my teenage hip-hop obsession, I wrote a set of open questions with a rough idea of how the interview would probably go.  The absolute worst thing that can happen in this situation, I’m told, is if every question is met with a monosyllabic answer.  I could only hope for the best.

There were no such problems, fortunately.  She happily gave full, informative answers, and I actually had to cut half of them from the final interview to save space.  As you can imagine for someone so successful, she came across as bright, witty, and above all sensible.  When I asked if she had advice for anyone thinking of trying their hand at the music game, she had some useful pointers.  Her suggestions were to stay in school, get some decent grades, and make sure you have something to fall back on – because not everyone makes it in music.  Wise words indeed.

Interviews are always best if you can get something a bit juicy – something that gives you an insight in to a person’s slightly controversial view on a subject.  Her opinion that ‘you don’t really need talent to become famous anymore’ provided just that.  She was quick to point out, of course, that talent was a necessity when she got her big break.

Naturally, I quizzed her briefly about her supporting role for Method Man and Redman.  Apparently they are really nice guys, but totally different.  Red is lively and loud, and Meth is more the strong silent type.  I got the impression that meeting well-known artists doesn’t faze her at all.  In fact, the music industry in general doesn’t faze her.  She has her feet firmly on the ground and takes it all in her stride.

“Down With Webster is the most amazing, creative and innovative band that will come out in 2010.  They’re the illest group I’ve ever seen live in person.”  – Timbaland

Not bad praise for a group you never heard of, huh?  That’s because they are from Canada and no one really pays attention to that country.

I first seen these guys when I went to the Van’s Warped Tour and they were the first band that I actually stopped by and watched.  They have a great sound with a mix of rock and hip hop and somehow make a seven person band work.  Story goes that they formed for a school talent show and have been together ever since.  You can check out their main website here.  As an a fellow American, I ask where is our young creative talent?  The only person out right now that comes to mind is Lady Gaga.  And it’s especially hard to support American music when when we continue to put out shit like this.

Universal Motown is the lucky record company to ink these guys to a deal.  Word on the street is that the guys from Down With Webster turned down Gene Simmons as an opportunity to be his first band signed under his new label.  From what I’ve heard, more freedom regarding their social network sites (facebook, myspace, youtube, twitter), as well as the way they disburse their music, was part of the reason why they decided to sign with the star-making Universal Motown.  Not everyday do you hear a band use profanity and talk so freely about drugs and alcohol when they are signed to a major label.

They just got done filming their new music video Rich Girl$ (behind the scenes sneak peak with hot girls) in California and are currently on tour promoting their new album Time To Win Vol. I.  Currently they are touring with Forever the Sickest Kids which I went to go check out and here’s some of the pictures I took.  Actually, the only pictures I took were of the parking lot signs because I got a $27 ticket for backing into the stall because apparently you aren’t allowed to do that.  Great job, government!  Thanks for doing your job and keeping everyone else safe because apparently backing into the stall put everyone is harms way.

To top it all off, I missed them play since they opened.  Just like I did with Lights when I tried to go see her at Warped Tour because I came late.  Instead, I just talked with Bucky (one of the members of DWW) and he hooked me up with a free demo CD which was pretty cool.

Hey! Long time no see!!! Sorry about that. There were some complications going on with the settings in the Matrix of Life; some corrupted code that I needed to take care of.

As you can see, it's a pretty difficult programming language to play around with.

So, I’m going to explain some things that have been going on – or, more like, have gone on. For example, everyone in my class yesterday had an official publishing party, without the girls and poles of course (and, instead, all boys), so what we were supposed to do was make a public speech where you introduce the winner of a certain award. The award was for the best participant in orgies. And, if you haven’t noticed, I have just finished cracking a joke. Though it probably wasn’t quite funny.

Some of us were given special roles, though, since we made considerable progress, or could not do much more progress than had already been done. I have a perfect 13 for my ITBS, meaning, my reading and writing capabilities are supposedly at college level, and I’m only in eighth grade. If I can’t brag, I can gloat. If I can’t do it in public, I can do it on a blog – however public a blog is as well.

So what role did I play? I was “DJ” (Dick Jerker) – though I think that’s more of a euphemism. I was just the put-music-during-transitions-from-public-speech-to-public-speech person, which was quite enjoyable for me, since I like poppin’ and then showin’ off my tunes (as in my penis).

Like, Cult of Personality, or some other cool ones like White Light by Gorillaz, Feather by Nujabes (featuring some other guy who does the rapping), Prodigy, Motorhead, but, of course, Led Zeppelin.

I had perfect timing on the breaks for the most part, and people actually liked the music. I tried to put music of all genres insofar as they fit the occasion. Mostly hip hop and rock. This is because audience’s won’t always have the same tastes – some will think rap is shitty. I’m not a big fan of rap, except for some jazz rap. So I compromised, and put some jazz rap, which I call candy rap.

Candy rap.

Primarily because it has a sweetening instrumental sound that soothes the ear, backing up the rap so it sounds like spoken word – I also call that hip hop.

I always knew my music wasn’t shitty, like a pile of shit. Sometimes the audience bobbed their heads, and sometimes the “award winners” (actors, really) would dance to it also, just to make themselves look absolutely ridiculous.

I was the Jesus of music during the whole show, yet I had not gotten nailed.

My language arts teacher also decided to let me borrow his Operation Ivy CD for me to listen to, also. It was radical, dude. \m/

Damn it, it’s getting dark. And I hate that, because it sort of numbs my mind a little. But, oh well. I’ll find some excitement and adventure again eventually.

I’ve started to try and work things out again with Mickey, after some inner emotional doubt, and then a bit of sullen-ness. Which I think didn’t help much, and I hope she feels better. Sometimes I have no idea what direction I’m taking, or whether I’m doing something awry. But that will only be relevant when it doesn’t work out, right? Right. I hope so.

And, Abe? Well, things have been going fine with him and me, as friends, really. I still rate him a 45. While, last school year, it would’ve been a 25. He says he wishes he would’ve never met me or talked to me, which was a severe blow.  But then he said, well, I’m better than I was last year. I guess he said that only because my eyes met the ground once he said the former. I don’t completely understand, though, of course.

Now I’m going to go to a Thanksgiving family party, to stuff some turkey anally.

I have a lot of things to give thanks to. Like, maybe boobs, shaven Turkeys, myself..but, I don’t think I’m ready for Thanksgiving. I feel more compelled to ask for something than to give thanks. I want things to get back as they once were; well, just that they ride towards the better.

Can’t seem to shake this Jay-Z bug I have.  Everything I’ve tried has not shaken it. Has anyone else been having problems with trying to get away from the Blueprint 3? It’s cocky, it’s real, it’s Jay-Z at his best.  It’s late and random thoughts keep occuring. Check it out and hear it for yourselves. You will not be disapointed.
