In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) we see an emphasis on the kidneys as holding the essence for l

In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) we see an emphasis on the kidneys as holding the essence for life. Out of everyone I have worked with over the years, 98% of people have some stress to their kidneys. This also includes children. Stress, toxins, thoughts, water intake, food choices, quality of food, exercise, pH, sexual activities, etc. all contribute to stress in the kidneys.

In Asia, they are typically not fond of drinking a lot of fluid because it harms the kidneys. Yet, here in the USA, we are instructed to drink half your weight in water to flush out the toxic lifestyle we have from living in America. But not drinking enough pure water and being dehydrated also puts a strain on the kidneys.

American boys and teens are different than in the traditional Asian culture. Sex and bodily fluids is a badge of honor here, yet it begins to deplete life force and life essence very early on. This depletion continues through adulthood until men lose their active sex drive or develop Erectile Dysfunction (ED). The erection of the penis during sexual excitation is mediated by the Nitric oxide (NO) that is released from nerve endings close to the blood vessels of the penis. NO also regulates adrenal function and endocrine function. We generally see a correlation between ED and imbalanced hormone levels, which is traced back to endocrine and adrenal function. In teens, testosterone can be too high. In middle age men, testosterone tends to be too low. Kids are now maturing faster and much more is accepted and available now to kids so they have a mature life style at way to young of physical or emotional age.

Kidney stress is often shown in the quality and color of hair. Hair is one of the parts of the body that the body will sacrifice first. If the body is off, the hair will stop receiving nutrition and energy, thus the graying and thinning that occurs.

Kidneys also have an impact on bone marrow. So much so that now they are doing kidney and bone marrow transplants at the same time. I think we can look at Nitric Oxide (NO) as the key player. Release of NO around the glomeruli of the kidneys increases blood flow through them thus increases the rate of filtration and urine formation. The overall production of NO is decreased in kidney stress. The brain’s glial cells produces sodium nitrite, in presence of organic acid, it breaks down to nitric oxide for use. Nitric oxide is used by the bone’s marrow cells, which in turn creates stem cells or at least allows stem cells to further develop. The problem occurs whenever people eat acid forming food, have toxicity, physical stress, emotional or mental stress, or heavy metal poisoning causing the condition known as acidosis or low pH. Whenever this happens, the sodium nitrite breaks down into nitric oxide before the sodium nitrite reaches the bone marrow and stem cell production begins to slow down. When people are low on stem cells, we see the hair thin and begin to lose color or turn gray.

Something to help? Here are my recommendations:

Stop all mineral supplements for 3 days. Check your pH. Restore the bicarbonate reserves in your intestines, organs, and tissues. The remedy for regeneration of marrow cells is: Squeeze one whole lime (about 8 teaspoon), plus 1/2 teaspoon of aluminum free baking soda in 1/2 glass of water, taken twice a day. To get some improvement it would generally take about 3 weeks for the body to have sufficient amount of bicarbonates and alkalinity for nitric oxide. This total process usually takes a total of 6 months to completely saturate your tissues.

Increase the voltage of your cells. An ionic foot bath, infrared sauna, walking on the sand on a beach, touching the Earth with your feet, etc. are all ways to increase cellular voltage.

Silver and Gold Colloidals will also help.

Go Raw- a 70%+ raw diet works well.

He Shou Wou is a good TCM supplement to also add in.

Simplify your life and remove any negativity or stress including thoughts, people and situations.

The Cortisol hormone triggers us to be hungry, and prompts over eating, as well as prompting the body to store FAT, converted from sugars, carbohydrates and starches. This fat usually ends up in body locations that do not enhance our good looks. Caffeine, Chocolate, Cola’s, etc. boost Cortisol production.

Research on the Medline website shows Frankincense essential oil reduces Cortisol (the death hormone) by 40% just by inhaling it. Idaho Balsam Fir essential oil will also lower the cortisol levels in the body. Just make sure the essential oils are therapeutic grade; all others are just perfumes and flavor enhancers.

Hallo. Tote Hose.

Was kann man dagegen tun? Was wissen die schon.

Co-enzyme A is needed to break down fatty acids in the body. When, levels of co-enzyme A are low, th

Co-enzyme A is needed to break down fatty acids in the body. When, levels of co-enzyme A are low, the efficient breakdown of fatty acids is thus impaired which leads to excessive accumulation of fatty acids in the blood stream. The fatty acids are the deposited into the sebaceous glands (sweat glands) and secreted as oil, giving the skin an oily complexion.

Co-enzyme A is also needed for sex hormone synthesis. When the levels of sex hormone are low, the body has to make use of what co-enzyme A is available for sex hormone synthesis (as hormone synthesis is given priority; without it, sex organs to do not develop) and hence this causes the build-up of fatty acids.

This explains why teenagers are more prone to acne than adults; at that age, sex hormone synthesis is at its peak to allow development of sex organs and secondary characteristics such as pubic hair, muscle mass, voice change etc.

The human body can obtain co-enzyme A from 3 sources; adenosine (naturally produced), cysteine (naturally produced) and d-calcium pantothenate, which needs to be obtained from dietary intake. Although the naturally produced adenosine and cysteine are able to cope with supplying the adequate levels of co-enzyme A, at time of high demand dietary intakes of d-calcium pantothenate are needed to quench this demand.

Treatment Regime
1.For the first five days of treatment, 5 capsules are usually taken twice a day; this equates to 10 capsules per day.
2.After the first five days, 5 capsules are to be taken 4 times a day (equates to 20 capsules per day) for 3 months.
3.After three months, maintenance therapy can be started and this ranges from 4-15 capsules per day. Maintenance therapy can be titrated according to the appearance of your skin and how acne-free it is. Gradually reducing the dose from 20 a day down to 10 then eventually 4 capsules per day is quite a good method. If flare-ups are experienced, this means you have gone below your individual maintenance dosage; increase to the amount taken before the last reduction.

One may ask why, the doses of d-calcium pantothenate, are so high. Well, the purpose of taking 20 capsules per day is to kick-start the body to produce co-enzyme A. After the levels of co-enzyme A are high, (after about three months), they can then be reduced to a maintenance therapy levels; as explained above.

Efficacy
The use of d-calcium pantothenate has been shown to be over 90% effective in a medical study. But one thing to note is that efficacy comes with compliance!

In some people, improvements can be seen at 2 weeks of therapy whilst others this can take somewhat longer.

During the first week of treatment, some customers have noticed that their acne has increased. Although the reason for this is not entirely known, this should not act as a deterrent; this usually disappears after 1-2 weeks.

Safety
Being an all-natural water soluble vitamin, d-calcium pantothenate is safe to take in high quantities. The body will just excrete the surplus amounts through the urine. The only contra-indication worthy of note is that d-calcium pantothenate should not be taken when pregnant/ breast feeding.

Side Effects
1.Loosening of stool ( reported as the main side effect) The stool consistency is half way between normal and diarrhoea
2.Mild stomach irritation ( occasional)
3.Possible headaches. This may occur at the start of treatment and gradually subsides
4.Must not be taken when pregnant or when breast feeding!

If side effects do occur, then please reduce the number of capsules being taken or discontinue and consult your local doctor for advice.

SCIENTISTS have discovered new oestrogen-blocking drugs that may be effective against cervical cancer.

Tests on mice showed the drugs, also used to treat breast cancer ,block the effect of the female hormone oestrogen.

Dr Paul Lambert, part of the researching team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison said: “We have begun to test whether the drugs are effective in treating cervical cancer in human cells as they are in our mice.”

The tests also showed that mice with pre-cancerous cells did not develop cancer after being treated with the drugs.

Currently, the NHS runs a Cervical Screening Programme, which aims to detect early abnormalities which if left untreated could lead to cancer in a woman’s cervix.

Early detection and and treatment is estimated to prevent 75 per cent of cancers developing.

So I thought I’d do a little tangential reading about other authors: in particular those first-timers who hit it with an amazing débût work and then go on to clean up on Amazon.

I’m thinking of one particularly fortunate author, Laura Schaefer from Madison, Wisconsin, who got her start as a contributor to the University of Wisconsin’s student paper The Daily Cardinal and went on to write regularly for The Princeton Review and Match.com. Laura lives in Madison, Wisconsin, where she can usually be found dancing the lindy hop or book signing her second novel for young readers, The Teashop Girls.

Love is a many-splendored thing …according to Laura in her first book: Man with Farm Seeks Woman with Tractor (Thunder’s Mouth Press, 2005). And she’s come up with some quite surprising facts about love. If you need proof of this, there follow 25 funny little statistics about love. Study them, scratch your head over them, and share them with someone you fancy.

1. Men who kiss their wives in the morning live five years longer than those who don’t.

2. People are more likely to tilt their heads to the right when kissing instead of the left (65 percent of people go to the right).

3. When it comes to doing the deed early in the relationship, 78 percent of women would decline an intimate rendezvous if they had not shaved their legs or underarms.

4. Feminist women are more likely than other females to be in a romantic relationship.

5. Two-thirds of people report that they fall in love with someone they’ve known for some time versus someone that they just met.

6. There’s a reason why office romances occur: The single biggest predictor of love is proximity.

7. Falling in love can induce a calming effect on the body and mind and raises levels of nerve growth factor for about a year, which helps to restore the nervous system and improves the lover’s memory.

External stimulation of the synapses can trigger happiness or fear

8. Love can also exert the same stress on your body as deep fear. You see the same physiological responses — pupil dilation, sweaty palms, and increased heart rate.

9. Brain scans show that people who view photos of a beloved experience an activation of the caudate — the part of the brain involving cravings.

10. The women of the Tiwi tribe in the South Pacific are married at birth.

11. The “Love Detector” service from Korean cell phone operator KTF uses technology that is supposed to analyze voice patterns to see if a lover is speaking honestly and with affection. Users later receive an analysis of the conversation delivered through text message that breaks down the amount of affection, surprise, concentration and honesty of the other speaker.

12. Eleven percent of women have gone online and done research on a person they were dating or were about to meet, versus seven percent of men.

16. Forty-three percent of women prefer their partners never sign “love” to a card unless they are ready for commitment.

17. People who are newly in love produce decreased levels of the hormone serotonin — as low as levels seen in people with obsessive-compulsive disorder. Perhaps that’s why it’s so easy to feel obsessed when you’re smitten.

23. Familiarity breeds comfort and closeness … and romance.

24. One in five long-term love relationships began with one or both partners being involved with others.

25. OK, this one may not surprise you, but we had to share it: Having a romantic relationship makes both genders happier. The stronger the commitment, the greater the happiness!

The British scientists used finger length ratio measurements as an indicator of the levels of exposure to the hormone and compared this data with social behaviour in primate groups.

Primates such as baboons and rhesus macaques, have a low ‘2D:4D digit ratio’ (= a longer fourth finger [ring finger] compared to the second finger [pointer finger]), and these species tend to be highly competitive and promiscuous.

While gibbons and many New World monkey species have higher ‘2D:4D digit ratio’ (but still lower than the average human digit ratio), and these primate species were monogamous and less competitive than Old World monkeys.

The results also show that Great Apes, such as orangutans and chimpanzees, expressed a different finger ratio. The analysis suggests that early androgen exposure is lower in this groups compared to Old World monkeys. Lower androgen levels could help explain why Great Apes show high levels of male cooperation and tolerance.

High androgen levels from a foetus or mother during pregnancy, may alter gene function and lead to subtle changes in relative digit length and the functioning of the reproductive system. Finger ratios do not change very much after birth and appear to tell us something about how very early androgens affect adult behaviour, particularly behaviour linked to mating and reproduction.”

Sea Vegetables-Nature’s Healthy Gifts From The Sea

By Linda Page, N.D., Ph.D./HealthyHealing.com

http://healthyhealing.com/

In Western countries, land vegetables are the traditional sources of greens, but vegetables from the sea are nutritious foods and powerful healers that have been used by European and Asian cultures for centuries. I eat sea vegetables every day. I recommend them as a critical part of many healing programs-detoxification, illness recovery, heart healthy, hormone balancing for women (and men), and much more! Sea Vegetables can literally transform your health. When you drink sea vegetables, or take seaweed baths, you’re tapping into the ancestral and restorative source of all life-the ocean. Just a few of the miraculous health benefits of sea vegetables:

Super Nutrition

Ounce for ounce, along with herbs, sea vegetables are higher in vitamins and minerals than any other food. Sea vegetables are really the ocean’s deep greens, rich in vegetable protein, and full-spectrum concentrations of important carotenes, chlorophyll, enzymes, amino acids and fiber. They are the only vegetarian source of B-12 for cell health, containing amounts that rival beef liver (the leading animal source). They are an excellent source of body building minerals like calcium, iron, iodine, and potassium. Sea vegetables contain trace minerals like boron, chromium and selenium that are vital to health, but that modern farming techniques have leached from the soil.

Our body fluids have the same chemical composition as seawater. The same trace elements than run through the oceans run through the human body. Seaplant chemical composition is so close to human plasma that perhaps the greatest benefit from sea vegetables is promoting our internal rebalance. Sea vegetables act as the ocean’s purifiers, and they perform many of the same functions for our bodies.

Detoxification

Sea vegetables offer superior protection from radiation and heavy poisoning. Studies done a McGill University reveal algin, a component of sea greens like kelp and alaria, binds to heavy metals and chemical pollutants in the intestinal tract, allowing them to be safely eliminated from the body. Seaplant algin even binds to radioactive strontium (one of the most hazardous atomic pollutants), radioactive iodine-131, barium, zinc, and cadmium, flushing them out of the body before they can even poison us. Sea vegetables are so effective that the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission recommends that people consume two to three ounces of sea vegetables a day for maximum protection against radiation poisoning.

Major Disease Protection

Sea Vegetables are an excellent addition to you natural arsenal against cancer and heart disease. Further, sea vegetables help dissolve fatty deposits in the cardiovascular system that lead to heart disease, and relieve tension in the blood vessels caused by over-consumption of table salt. Japanese studies from the 1960’s show sea vegetables extracts control high blood pressure and atherosclerosis in animals fed in a high cholesterol diet. The same studies show that sea vegetables lower blood pressure in people, too.

Hormone Balancing For Women

Sea vegetables can ease the discomforts of menopause. They are a rich source of fat-soluble vitamins D and K that assist with production of steroidal hormones like estrogen and DHEA in adrenal glands play a key role in shoring up hormone production when estrogen production slows down during menopause. Vitamin K in sea vegetables especially boosts adrenal activity; ingesting them can help maintain female hormone balance for a more youthful body for years to come. Sea plants also nourish an under active thyroid to trigger increased libido in women after menopause.

Sea vegetables are especially good for stimulating metabolism in overweight pets. Dosage: about 1 to 2 tbls. for dogs and 1tsp. for cats.

There is a little known hormone in your body that heavily dictates your body composition and metabol

There is a little known hormone in your body that heavily dictates your body composition and metabolism, only discovered in the last ten years and extremely anabolic.

We all know the big two: testosterone and estrogen, steroid users have taken advantage of testosterone’s anabolic effects for years now, but what if I was to tell you there is a hormone within you that is also very anabolic and you can effect it by as much as 50% within the space of a week?Interested?

The hormone is leptin and it was discovered just over ten years ago, think of it as a messenger – it tells your brain what your diet is like, if your eating enough calories and then your brain will act on this either by raising your metabolism or lowering it, just as a bear completely slows down it’s metabolism when it hibernates, your brain will tell your various systems to slow down when it realies your not giving it enough fuel! This is yet another reason why crash dieting doesn’t work….The other factor in how high your leptin levels are is your current bodyfat, this is perhaps one of the reason’s people seem to gain lean muscle so much easier when they start off from an already lean level.

don't let your body slow down to a crawl!

Well i’m sure that you can see if we can control the amount of this stuff in our bloodstream there is great potential for fat loss and also a much higher chance of holding onto your muscle whilst doing so. This is what happens when you start dieting – your leptin levels drop very quickly, by as much as half in one week! Thus your brain gets the message and starts storing everything you give it, hormones are released which make you hungrier and all of a sudden your body is working against you!

What we need is a way of keeping leptin high whilst cutting calories……..supplementing is out of the question unless you are very, very rich, a months supply can run into the thousands.

The answer?

Cheat meals

Remember I said leptin levels drop by as much as 50% in one week of dieting?well that’s quick but not as quick as they rise!In fact they can rise back to normal levels in as little as 2 days, so the answer to the problem is high-calorie, high carbohydrate foods. Diet for the first week and let the leptin levels drop, once you get to the weekend stuff your face! for the next two days allow your leptin levels to rise back to normal. This means that for the next week you can continue on your low calorie diet whilst maintaining normal leptin levels and a high metabolism, simple!

For those in the know this dietary advice may sound very familiar to the ‘anabolic diet’ bodybuilders have sworn by for years, which advises your typical low carb diet but with a ‘loading’ stage on the weekend, and you’d be right, it is exactly like that, it turns out leptin levels may be one of the key reasons why they work so well.

Want to find out more?Check out this fantastic ebook going free for the next day!It utilises leptin as well as other new concepts within weight loss for maximum effect, get it before the price goes up!

This is a heads up to all my readers that the best way to protect yourself from swine flu is by ensuring that you are not Vitamin D deficient. The best way of obtaining Vitamin D is moderate exposure to sunlight. Early morning sun is best. Vitamin D is made by your body when it is exposed to sunlight. It is also advisable to avoid taking the swine flu vaccine as there are anecdotal reports on the web of side effects. Please verify all this information for yourself to assure yourselves that this is correct.

Vitamin D is good for your body but does not do anything for your soul. If you have not received Jesus the Christ as your Lord and Saviour, it means that you are spiritually dead. Please view the short video below for a concise presentation of the Gospel of Jesus the Christ.

Finally, here is a video clip of the doctor explaining in more detail what he has discovered about Vitamin D.

How many of us have experienced abandonment or major stress in our early lives? I bet a high proportion of us have? New Science has shown through experiments on mice, that stress in early life of mice (who seem to have a common link with Humans!) results in the ‘tweaking’ of DNA, and results in the release of a stress hormones in later life. This results in depression and behavioral difficulties.

This may help lay to rest in the mind of those troubled by stress and depression the self criticism that often accompanies these difficulties? May be we can understand ourselves more with this sort of information, and start the road of change.

Ausharren.

The Effects of Microwave Ovens on Food

Microwave cooking ovens were originally researched and developed by German scientists to support mobile operations during the invasion of the Soviet Union. Had they perfected electronic equipment to prepare meals on a mass scale, the Nazis could have eliminated the logistical problems connected with cooking fuels while producing edible products in far less time than they could using traditional camp fires!

After the war, the Allies discovered the medical research and documentation concerning those apparatuses. The papers and experimental microwave equipment were transferred to the U.S.

War Department and classified for reference and scientific investigation. The Soviet Union also retrieved some of the devices and began an experiment on them separately.

The Russians – who have done the most diligent research into the biological effects of microwave ovens – have OUTLAWED THEIR USE and issued an international warning about the biological and environmental damage that can result form the use of this and similar-frequency electronic apparatus.

Medical Research Summary

The most significant German research concerned with the biological effects of microwaves was done at the Humboldt Universitat zu Berlin in 1942-43, during the Barbarossa military campaign. Beginning in 1957 and continuing up to the present, Russian studies in the field have been conducted at the Institute of Radio Technology. In most research, the foods were exposed to microwave propagation at an energy potential of 100 kilowatts per cubic centimeter per second to the point considered acceptable for sanitary normal ingestion. The observations made by the German and Russian microwave researchers will be presented here in three categories: cancer -causing effects, destruction of nutritive value and biological effects of direct exposure of humans to microwave emissions.

Effects on Microwaved Foods

The following effects have been observed when foods are subjected to microwave emissions.

Meats: Heating prepared meats sufficiently to insure sanitary ingestion creates d-nitrosodiethanolamine, a well-known cancer -causing agent.

Proteins: Active-protein, biomolecular compounds are destabilized.

Increase in Radioactivity: A “binding effect” between the microwaved food and any atmospheric radioactivity is created, causing a marked increase in the amount of alpha and beta particle saturation in the food.

Milk and Cereals: Cancer-causing agents are created in the protein-hydrolysate compounds in milk and cereal grains.

Frozen Foods: Microwaves used to thaw frozen foods alter the catabolism (breakdown) of the glucoside and galactoside elements.

Vegetables: Even extremely brief exposure of raw, cooked or frozen vegetables to microwaves alter alkaloid catabolism.

Resulting Effects on the Human Body Digestive System: The unstable catabolism of microwaved foods alters their elemental food substances, causing disorders in the digestive system.

Lymphatic Systems: Due to chemical alterations within food substances, malfunctions occur in the lymphatic system, causing a degeneration of the body’s ability to protect itself against certain forms of neoplastics (cancerous growths).

(This is what flushing toxins out of your body – It is basically the sewer of the body – Thats why the Calf Killer exercising are so good for you it stimulates the lymphatic system – its stimulated by the force of gravity! Get yourself a rebounder (little tramp) and jump your way to detoxification)

Blood: A higher-than-normal percentage of cancerous cells in blood serum (cytomas) can be seen in subjects ingesting microwaved foods.

Brain: Their residual magnetism effect can render the psychoneural-receptor components of the brain more subject to influence of artificially induced, microwave-radio-frequency fields from transmission stations and TV relay networks.

Free Radicals: Certain trace minerals molecular formations in plant substances (in particular, raw-root vegetables) form cancer-causing free radicals.

Increased Incidence of Stomach and Intestinal Cancers: A statistically higher percentage of cancerous growths result in these organisms, plus a generalized breakdown of the peripheral cellular tissues and a gradual degeneration of digestive and excretory functions.

Microwaves Reduce Food Values

Microwave exposure caused significant decreases in the nutritive value of all foods studied. The following are the most important findings to date.

Vitamins And Minerals Made Useless: In every food tested, the bioavailability of the following vital nutrients decreased: Vitamin B Complex, vitamins C and E, essential minerals and lipotropics.

Vital Energy Fields Devastated: The vital energy field content of all foods tested dropped 60 to 90 percent.

Digestibility of Fruits and Vegetables Reduced: Microwaving lowers the metabolic behavior and integration process capability of alkaloids, glucosides, alactosides, and nitrilosides.

Meat Proteins Worthless: It destroys the nutritive value of nucleoproteins in meats.

All Food Damaged: It greatly accelerates the structural disintegration of all foods tested.

Biological Effects of Microwaves

Exposure to microwave emissions also has a negative effects upon the general biological welfare of humans. This was not discovered until the Russians experimented with highly sophisticated equipment and discovered that humans can be adversely affected without even ingesting the foods that have been subjected to microwave radiation.

Merely Entering the Energy Fields of the Food causes such harmful side-effects that the Soviets outlawed all much microwave apparatus in 1976. Here are the effects observed in humans having ‘direct’ exposure to microwaves, that is, without their having consumed the Irradiated [microwaved] food substances.

Life-energy Field Breakdown: Persons near microwave ovens in operation experience a breakdown in their life-energy fields which increases relative to the length of exposure.

Cellular Energy Decreases: The cellular-voltage parallels of individuals using the apparatus degenerate – especially in their blood and lymphatic serums.

Destabilized Metabolism: The external energy activated potentials of food utilization are both destablilized and degenerated.

Cell Damage: Internal cellular-membrane potentials during catabolic processes into the blood serum from the digestive process degenerate and destabilize.

Brain Circuitry Destruction: Electrical impulses in the junction potentials of the cerebrum degenerate and break down.

Nervous System: Nerve/electrical circuits degenerate and break down while energy field symmetry is lost in the neuro-lexuses (nerve centers) in both the front and rear of the central and autonomic nervous systems.

Loss of Bioelectric Strength: The bio-electric strengths within the ascending reticular activating system (the system which controls the function of waking consciousness) go out of valance and lose their proper circuiting.

Loss of Vital Energies: Humans, animals, and plants located within a 500 meter radius of the equipment in operation suffer a long term, cumulative loss of vital energies.

Nervous and Lymphatic System Damage: Long-lasting residual and magnetic ‘deposits’ become located throughout the nervous and lymphatic systems.

Hormone Imbalances: The production of hormones and maintenance of hormonal balance in both males and females becomes destabilized and interrupted.

Brainwave Disruption: Levels of disturbance in alpha-, delta-, and theta-wave signal patterns are markedly higher than normal.

Psychological Disorders: Because of the disarranged brain waves, negative psychological effects will also result. These include loss of memory and the ability to concentrate, suppressed emotional threshold, deceleration of intellective processes and interruptive sleep episodes in a statistically higher percentage of individuals subjected to continual rang- emission field effects of microwave apparatus, from either cooking apparatus or transmission stations.

As the sun dips below the horizon earlier and earlier every day now we seem to start hibernating habits. We stay inside because of the cold and eat more, because of stress that comes with school and…what else is there to do. People even begin symptoms of depression over the fall and winter months.

All I have to say is GO FOR A WALK!

Any day that is remotely sunny I will try and spend as much time outside even if it’s freezing. I can feel my mood instantly improve on my 20 minute walk to school.

The reason for the change of mood and behavior is directly correlated to the amount of sunlight we get.

We have a hormone in our bodies called serotonin. What it does is affects our mood because it’s a neurotransmitter. Sunlight helps create it. So when summer to exist, we aren’t spending as much time outdoors and there isn’t as much sunlight, thus lowering our serotonin levels.

We have another hormone called melatonin. This is the hormone that tells us when it’s time to sleep. Sunlight reduces the effects of melatonin, but when the sun goes down melatonin levels raise and it makes us sleepy. This is usually helpful but when all of a sudden we lose sunlight we feel groggy more often.

So get out there and get some sun!

Mayo Clinic does a great job describing this process through Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). You probably don’t have SAD but the process and symptoms are similar.
