It seems to me that we have become a society that values people behaving badly. What else accounts for: Bridezillas, Bad Girls, Bad Party Girls, John & Kate, the children the nanny tries to rehabilitate, Housewives of the Amazon (or wherever they happen to be living and fighting now), and all the reality shows where people yell at each, while the camera watches.

It used to be that behavior like that was a reason to be ashamed.  Now, it seems encouraged.

We have become a nation that loves to watch brats; brats of all ages.  Hence, recently the big news was the soccer player who was repeatedly filmed abusing other players.  Her excuse, “That’s not me.  I’m not like that.”  Okay, who was in your body?  Because, people who know you certainly think it is you.

I am so totally sick of people yelling and screaming at each other because they just “know” what is right and you do not.  What happened with negotiation and meeting in the middle and listening?  I have to wonder what is going to force us to realize that this is a very slippery slope to head down.

I love Project Runway and have really enjoyed the last couple of seasons where they did NOT have the one or two people who like to make life miserable for everyone else.  The only liar was out as soon as he opened up with that big lie.  There was only one who liked to put the others down, in a big way, but all-in-all it was a pleasant season.  And, what is wrong with that?

As you sneak away from your realtives to drink in the corner and check Facebook while no one is looking today, check out what I am thankful for in the world around me.  And in case you get busted now and have to go pretend to enjoy your second cousin’s creepy new boyfriend, mostly, I’m thankful for the things that make me laugh:

Whitney Houston, thank you for coming back out of your drug-induced social coma, or as your PR person likes to call it…retirement.  And thank you for your heart-felt pseudo-interview/therapy session with Oprah.  I will always be grateful for your lesson on how to say nothing for an hour.  And of course, I thank you for being able to hit most of your notes without sweating.

The Real Housewives of Wherever, thank you for clearing up any misconceptions or stereotypes we may have had about women in your nether regions.  We now know that Jersey does not equal mafia, housewives in Orange County are not made of plastic and, in New York no one is motivated by title or money.  Right countess?  Right.

I still miss George Bush.  I was thankful for his dippy demeanor that made you ask whether he was drunk or high on helium for 8 years.  And whenever I thought I had done a bad job at work, I only had to look to my nation’s leader to know that I could be much worse.  Thank you George for the self-esteem boost.

Thanks to Mariah Carey for reminding women everywhere that no matter how batshit crazy, old or big we get, a tube top and daisy duke shorts can still be worn in public.  Not worn well, but at least they are out there.

Thank you to Sarah Palin for her street smarts.  Before you, I knew as much about the Alaskan drilling mandates as you do about running a country.  And as you are finishing up your fourth glass of 80-proof Thanksgiving Survival juice, take a look at the other most smartest people who are really thankful for Sarah Palin.

In conclusion, and in almost all seriousness, thank you to the friends and family who have been so supportive of my blog and endeavors.  Without your feedback, thoughts and daily visits, this would just be me squawking to myself in cyberspace.    I would thank you all individually right here, but I don’t want Dick Cheney’s Internet scoping device to pick up your names more than it already has.  Happy Thanksgiving!

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) — Oprah Winfrey knows how to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

In the last 10 minutes of her show, Winfrey confirmed that she will be ending her syndicated “Oprah Winfrey Show” in September 2011.

“After much prayer and months of careful thought, I thought that next season, season 25, will be the last season of ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show,’ ” she told the audience.

“You may hear a lot of speculation in the press about why I’m making this decision now, and I wanted you to hear it from me,” she said. “Twenty-four years ago on September 8, 1986, I went live from Chicago to launch the first show. I was beyond excited, and a little nervous.”

Winfrey remained calm after her announcement, even when guest Ray Romano joked that she was going to make this is his mother’s saddest and happiest day by simultaneously having Romano on and confirming the Oprah era had come to an end.

“I knew what a miraculous opportunity I had been given, but I certainly couldn’t have imagined the yellow brick road of blessings,” Winfrey said, pausing as she became visibly and audibly choked up. “You, the viewers, have enriched my life beyond measure. You have graciously invited me into your kitchens, living rooms and lives. Some of you have literally grown up with me; we’ve grown up together.

“Whether you’ve been there in the beginning or just started last week, I hold it dear. It still means as much to me to spend an hour with you as it did in 1986,” she said.

And then, the answer to the most obvious question: why leave the show? Oprah didn’t give much of an answer.

“Here is the real reason: I love this show, this show is my life, and I love it enough to know when it’s time to say goodbye. It’s the perfect number, the exact right time,” she said.

She encouraged her fans to stick out the next 18 months as she and her production team pull out all the stops to make the last season of “Oprah” one that will “knock your socks off.”

“The countdown to the end of ‘The Oprah Winfrey Show’ starts now,” she said. “Until that day, I intend to soak up every meaningful, joyful moment with you. I’ll see you on Monday.”

So this week has been kinda interesting. I haven’t had a chance to really watch too much Reality TV, but I did see some snip it’s from Jon & Kate. I thought they were done, but this week coming up is the last show. I saw the after show of  The Real Housewives of Orange County, and laughed so hard at Vickie. Yes miss high and mighty insurance woman who is the most critical of them all and a b—-, raises her glass to toast getting some trivia the after party host Andy was doing and there it was bigger than life……”ARMPIT SWEAT”, a great big wet stain on her smokey grey dress. The camera couldnt get off that shot fast enough and I laughed so hard. The high priestess is human after all. (Housewives is a BRAVO TV show)

The Cake Boss is a good show. I think it’s amazing what he does with these cakes. I used to be a baker and a cake decorator and it’s not easy. He makes it look effortless. The Robot Cake, the Roulette Table Cake. I have a dream to travel to New Jersey and get Buddy’s autograph and a cake. I wonder if I could have my daughter’s sweet 16 cake mailed to me. HMMMMMMM, that’s cake for thought.(TLC)

Home on Holmes has to be my new favorite homeowner fix it up show. I believe it’s based in Canada and this man is amazing! He goes in after reading letter’s form homeowner’s who have been screwed over by builder’s or contractor’s that haven’t finished the job or did the job wrong and he corrects it all. The things he does are amazing. He is correcting mistakes that others made and the outcomes are breath-taking. (TLC)

I plan to try to watch OCC next week, hopefully I can remember to tape it. Someone also suggested I watch the Amazing Race, that show doesn’t do much for me, and I’m not a Survivor watcher. Sorry folks.

Now that I am home I am going to use my time for good. I am going to finally accomplish those home projects that I wanted to start by actually starting them. Best of all, I am going to be a domestic goddess. I told DH all of this. I told him I am going to truly commit to being domestic engineer extraordinaire. And I have plans (big ones). I am going to start off by doing a deep house cleaning. I mean every room, cabinet, drawer, closet, nook and cranny. I am going to organize the pantry. I am going to clean out the garage and organize it to DH’s liking. I am going to clean out my desk and junk drawer. I figure that since I am home there is no need to have a junk drawer because they will be no junk. I am going to scrub the floors of the house so clean we will be able to eat off them.

And the most exciting part? I am going to have gourmet meals waiting for DH when he gets home. I want him to walk into a palace and be greeted by the wonderful smells of the meals so lovingly prepared by his truly. Of course, all of the above is not going to be accomplished in one day but when it finally does, that is what DH will come home to every day.

I wanted everything to be perfect for my first day as Jennifer Poure the Homemaker by starting off with a gourmet meal. I asked DH to call me fifteen minutes (as a warning for myself) before he got home just to make sure everything would be perfect for his arrival. I planned and thought of the ideal meal and told him what the plans were going to be for dinner.

Thank God for that fifteen-minute call ahead that I requested from him. He asked me if dinner was going according to schedule. I told him of course. I also told him to please stop by the Chinese Restaurant to pick up our take-out order. We will try to attempt the plan tomorrow.

First and foremost… Halloween 2009 was basically Me and DeWitt’s one year ‘kissing anniversary’. Our first kiss was on October 27th, 2008. Likewise, Halloween is a very favorite Holiday for both of us!!!

Last year we didn’t really have time to plan an amazing outfit… yet as you can see we seemed to go together pretty nicely. Me as some chick from Chicago, as in the broadway play, and DeWitt as his favorite Western, Zorro character…

This photo kills me… can you tell we just started kissing, or what! Hahaha. Now, a year later we have had much more time to prepare in advance and to plan for that perfect Halloween Costume… especially to show off our couple-dom & one year of kissing anniversary.

A good portion of my life, when I introduce myself to people there seems to either be a reference to the 80’s TV show Family Ties or the movie Natural Born Killers. I have definitely seen my share of Family Ties, yet NEVER had seen even a snippit of Natural Born Killers. I didn’t even realize it was Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis (whom I kinda love). Needless to say, I finally see the movie this year… and to top it off their names are Mickey & Mallory Knox, obviously I expected the Mallory portion, yet Knox is not only from Natural Born Killers… its also a family name on DeWitt’s paternal side of the family. We kinda had to be these two characters for Halloween!

As people, we are be far from the literal ‘Natural Born Killers’… yet besides the names, we also share the LOVE! Mickey and Mallory Knox are definitely an in-love duo… its an amazing movie and I’m thinking we did a pretty great representation… what do you think???

January Jones as Betty Draper… and myself, well… I’m just one of her sidekicks.

it’s ‘my sunday’ and i’ve been a busy little bee all day.
i rode the bus to go shopping where there are sensible/affordable prices.
i got moccasin style slippers. my grandma always used to wear those or birkenstocks. i got gloves to wear while riding my bike in the freezing mornings. i got two new pairs of knee socks. i tried on a $25 version of those ‘trendy’ ‘motorcyle’ style boots that were famous last year. decided my boots are sufficient. thought about waiting til the end of the season when they are on clearance? doubt it. i got a paint-by-numbers of a wolf. they also had a horse one and a dolphin one. i wanted all of them. i got a new canvas. a bunch of toiletries and sundry such items mostly for my boyfriend.
i’ve been doing laundry all day and i am now having a sandwich before i possibly ride my bike to the store to run more errands. not sure yet.

Ok, Ok, I watch The Real Housewives of Orange County, New Jersey and New York! But what I want to know is what makes them real housewives? They spend obscene amounts of money, go to spas, have nannies for their children and wine and dine. Where do I sign up to be a housewife? Wait I am a housewife!! Clearly not like them though. I’m thinking of the REAL kind of housewife, you know gets up and makes her kids breakfast, takes them to school, maybe wears jogging pants! Any of you out there? Let’s start our own show!

Katherine, de son côté, a une discussion franche et sérieuse avec Mike sur l’avenir de leur relation. Mais celui-ci se dérobe à ses questions. De leur côté, Lynette et Tom tentent d’attiser les braises de leur libido. Tandis que Gabrielle prend conscience du mal-être de sa fille Juanita, Susan a la surprise de voir revenir Jackson, qui lui fait une proposition des plus inattendues.
