This tip is from the Nest newsletter. This is an amazing and efficient way to help keep humidity levels, air flow, and temperatures at comfortable levels without wasting electricity or having your entire HVAC system work when it doesn’t need to.

A tip for you:

Try Advanced Fan Control

One of our top requests from customers is more fan control options. Instead of only turning on while heating or cooling or staying on all the time, the fan can now turn on daily or for a few minutes every hour. Using the fan when you really need it rather than all the time will save energy. Go to Fan in Settings to try each option and find what works for your home.

It feels as though this Fall season will actually be Fall; unlike last year. Duct Design

Remember it is very important to know what you are doing when installing a new system. Just because someone talks the talk doesn’t mean they know how to walk the walk. With R-410a it is very important to have your refrigerant pressures perfect. That is why at Atlantic Heating and Cooling we hold ourselves to a higher standard and perform every start up along the Santee Cooper guidelines.

Nest Thermostat for June

So we are in full swing summer here in North Myrtle Beach, SC. The humidity is high and so is the temperature. I use away mode now more than ever because it’s so hot that’s the best way for me to save money. The air wave feature helps out tremendously, but with 90 degree days it’s hard to keep a leaky house like mine cool. Like I have always said before my home is old leaky, and has a HVAC system that isn’t of high efficiency. That doesn’t stop the Nest though. I have continued to save money and where my Electric bill was almost $200 this time last year it was only $114 this year. That is a huge savings and all of it is from the Nest thermostat. I feel more comfortable using other electronics in my home because I know the Nest thermostat is saving me so much.

TOP WAYS TO TELL YOU NEED A NEW SYSTEM

1. If your unit looks anything close to this it’s time to change it out.

2. If it seems to be running for a very long time.

3. If it takes 1 hour to move 2 degrees, trust me it is time.

4. If you can see through the coil.

5. If the bottom of the unit is almost gone.

6. If your unit use to be tan, or green, but now it’s rust.

7. If, to save money, you set it at 74-76 in the summer.

8. If you know you haven’t ever bought a new one in the past 10 years, it could be getting very close.

9. If you can no longer read any of the stickers on either the air handler or outdoor unit; it is definitely time.

10. If you’re at your neighbor’s house, and you can hear your outdoor unit come on. Then if it’s not time, it sure is getting real close.

11. Last, but not least; as my Pappa always says if its broken then it’s time to fix it.
