Il procedimento per installare una ROM non originali su HTC Diamond è alquanto facile, ma allo stesso tempo può far diventare il  vostro Diamante in un costoso soprammobile se non fatto bene…

1. Il primo passaggio è quello di scaricare l’ hard spl OliNex Unsigned per poter installare ROM cucinate. Potete scaricarlo qui
2. Dopo averlo scaricato scompattate l’ archivio in una cartella
3. Connettere il telefono ad Active Sync (se si usa Windows XP) o WMDC (se si usa Vista)
4. Eseguire il file ROMUpdateUtility.exe
5. Dopo aver messo la spunta sul waning cliccare su next e se il telefono chiede la conferma per l’ esecuzione di un applicazione scegliere si.
6. Al termine schede di installazione apparirà una schermata bianca sul telefono ed una barra di progresso sul pc. ATTENZIONE!!!  A QUESTO PUNTO NON SPEGNETE IL COMPUTER, NON STACCATE IL TELEFONO DAL PC, NON ANNULLATE L’ OPERAZIONE… INSOMMA STATE FERMI FINO A QUANDO L’ OPERAZIONE NON SARA’ FINITA!!!
7. Ok a questo punto abbiamo aggiornato il nostro Hard Spl e sarà possibile installare la nostra ROM con Windows Mobile 6.5. La ROM che andiamo ad installare è in ITALIANO “cucinata” da un cuoco Italiano chiamata WHITESHARK (
   qui il post ufficiale della ROM con tutte le informazioni di questa ottima ROM)
8. Scaricare da qui la ROM Whiteshark 1.37 e come prima scompattare tutto in una cartella
9. Connettere il telefono al pc ad Active Sync (se si usa Windows XP) o WMDC (se si usa Vista)
10. Eseguire il programma CustomRUU.exe e come prima mettere la spunta sul warning, successivamente cliccare su next per avanzare nell’ installazione
11. Cliccate su update quando viene richiesto
12. Se il telefono richiede di eseguire un applicazione cliccare su si
13. Adesso apparirà schermata bianca sul telefono, una barra di progresso sul pc e sul telefono. COME PER L’ INSTALLAZIONE DELL’ HARD SPL NON TOCCATE NIENTE!!
14. Alla fine dell’installazione dala ROM il Diamond si riavvia in automatico. Cliccate su FINISH e avrete sul vostro telefono una ROM con WM 6.5.

Yeah, yeah – we’ve heard this a million times now (well, maybe 5 times) – the next iPhone killer.  First it was…hmmm…..let’s see here….geez, that was so long ago I can’t even remember (Anyone remember which phone hit the news as the original iPhone Killer?  Let me know).

Next it was Google Android – not so much a phone as a mobile phone OS to challenge the iPhone OS.  Hardly made a dent.

Then came the Blackberry storm.  Yawn.

Then the Palm Pre.  Funny, but a few days after the much-hyped Palm Pre launch,  Apple announced the iPhone 3G S and sold 1 million of those suckers in the first 24 hours.  The whole weekend of Palm Pre’s introduction netted 100K phones sold according to most stats. Doesn’t seem like the iPhone has much of a challenger there either!

I’m sure I’m omitting several other phones that have been announced as ‘the next iPhone killer’ over the past year or so, but who cares.  Have ANY of these phones REALLY challenged the iPhone?

Nope.  And it isn’t likely to happen for a  number of reasons which I’ll let the pundits that write about such things explain.

So, with the upcoming launch on July 1st, 2009 of Buzzirk Mobile unlimited mobile-over-IP plan, a number of iPhone Killers are being made to tap into the powerful new features that Zer01 and Buzzirk Mobile have announced would come with their new service and technology.

Will these phones be the next iPhone Killer?  I think that’s the wrong question.  The RIGHT question is “will the Buzzirk Mobile Unlimited Everything Mobile-over-IP technology be the CELLULAR INDUSTRY KILLER?”

That very well may be a resounding “YES”.

Here are some of the phones that Buzzirk Mobile is making available to subscribers that want to buy a new phone that can access all of the new features of their service (or you can use your existing phone and still get unlimited everything by simply replacing the SIM card in the phone):

But the phones themselves aren’t the most impressive thing about Buzzirk Mobile and Zer01’s new technology.  The fact that you will be able to do 6-way VIDEO conferencing, download a 2-hour movie in a minute or 2, and never pay extra for minutes, bandwidth, internet access, SMS texting, etc. are far more exciting (saving money is nice too, especially these days).

I don’t post much here about mobile technology, but it’s not because I’m uninterested in the developments there. I do have a half-hour on the 6 Train to kill in the mornings.

The folks at Microsoft were nice enough to let me attend Microsoft Preview on Tuesday night, where they had some new toys on display for bloggers and journalists to use. A bunch of new products, from a minimalist-designed mouse to new Xbox games, filled a loft room at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Paint The Town Red has a write-up too.

I’m most interested in what Microsoft is doing with Windows Mobile 6.5, launching this fall, because, according to a Microsoft publicist, the platform will finally incorporate geo-location technology.

The most useful iPhone apps I’ve used, like Foursquare, Coovents, Twitteriffic, OpenTable, and others, all base their functionality in part on being able to locate the user. It’ll be nice when Windows-based phones finally have these capabilities.

In particular, the next iteration of the HTC Touch Diamond has an awe-inspiring design and a ridiculous five mega-pixel auto-focus camera that clearly trumps what’s on the iPhone. Aside from a touch-screen that demands some getting-used-to, it seems like a great phone, given Windows Mobile will have more application capabilities when it comes out.
