most important – since its window based – it kawan with my notebook and wif my HP pda. so i can sync all my contact details, appointments,calendar,files etc to n fro the phone. sangat membantu.

it also got one superb application that really cool. use the camera, snap the peoples name card (which i collect hundreds over the years) then the phone will convert and export the data to the phone contact list. all those nama, alamat,company name, email, address and bla bla bla.no need to type type lagi dah. then using the built in google maps and/or garmin – select that person name, click few buttons and viola… the phone will guide u turn by turn till u sampai the persons office…. sangaaat suuuka.

can check my emails… outlook,streamyx and also the gmails. built in mini opera and internet explorer  to baca/write blogs muahahaha. fesbuk oso have…

weather function that grabs weather forecasts from the net and display to the phone. meaning that if tomorrow u ada appointment in PJ, if PJ will hujan, it will mention to u that it might rains in PJ…. cool

musics and videos… excellent screen. 8gb memory card.. can store 2 dvd tu hehehe.

though its 3.2 mega camera.. it captures nice shot. autofocus somemore. amazing macro shots for a phone camera. me give sample seh

though it lack of LED flash

speaker phone is another hit. just put the phone face down, it will turn on the speaker phone. dual speaker dual mic… very clear.

- it might had something to do with celcom though. no service on last saturday evening.. i hope its celcom problem.

- the battery needs to recharge every two days lebih kurang. but the plus point is it boleh tap power from notebook usb port and oso in my car charger. same charger as the HP GPS navigator

- earphone/speaker kena connect via usb port. will problem if need to connect other earphone/speakers

Yep it was time again. As the weather is bad and my weekend in Liverpool has been postponed (the Christmas market down there must be fantastic!) I decided to walk into Greenock and get the latest news from the major network providers here.

Three UK offer the HTC Hero with Spotify Premium which is nice, Orange have an ok-deal for the hero as well and Vodafone are still waiting on the HTC HD2. Thought I could have a play with it. Well will have to wait then I guess.

Whilst I agree with some of the points and I know that HTC have done a great deal with Windows, are they the best thing to happen to Windows Phone?

Oni wszyscy się mylą

Windows Mobile z nakładką TouchFlo3D/Manilla sam staje się swojego rodzaju … nakładką. Rysika używam w zasadzie bardzo rzadko, obsługa paluchem wystarczy do 80% funkcji.  I o ile jestem ‘poważnym człowiekiem’ (czytaj starszym niż przeciętny licealista), to nie mam nic przeciwko publicznym karesom z aparatem telefonicznym.

Jak wspominalem w poście niżej – Billyj80 wykonał  (i wykonuje) swoją robotę koncertowo – http://pdaclub.pl/forum/index.php?topic=141518.0, dodam że pro publico bono, więc Ci z was którzy korzystają, mogliby się szarpnąć na małą dotację.

1. 2_Way_Plus_Incall_Recording  – pozwala nam na ‘włączenie’ nagrywania rozmów, zarówno z głosem naszym, jak i naszego rozmówcy. TU

Talk about déjà vu… Sure, the HTC Hero features a 5 megapixel camera, but compared to the 3 megapixel camera on other HTC devices, it’s just more of the same!

But I’m not complaining – “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”

Like the T-Mobile G1, the Magic, and the Touch Pro, the resulting pictures (slide show) are quite nice. Low-light performance is decent, and so is exposure, but colors are a bit muted, and I was expecting more detail from the increased resolution.

Like the Touch Pro2 and the iPhone 3GS, the Hero camera supports touch-to-focus, but I’d still prefer a dedicated two-stage camera button. The macro is very good, requiring no user intervention, but there is no flash.

Video recording is extremely disappointing for a modern 5 megapixel camera. Resolution is limited to 352×288 pixels (CIF), and frame rate to about 15 fps. This is particularly unfortunate since the Hero provides initial auto-focus like the iPhone 3GS and Nokia N900.

So as most Canadians know by now Telus and Bell have launched the new HSPA network. If you need a new phone or are dying for the iPhone this is your chance. There are a ton of options out at the moment so be sure to shop for your best and I mean BEST plan. You can get the phone you really wanted but you can also get stuck with a really low caliber plan. 呵呵呵，這一天終於到了。早前htc經已公怖了會在11月讓magic的用家下載含有htc sense介面的rom update，讓magic跟hero的OS看齊，兩機的差別只限於體積和外觀上。

魔術要變身了：

首先andriod 1.5直到有Htc sense的版本前都是只可以在sim卡讀取聯絡人，不可以將自己的聯絡人寫重新回到sim卡上，所以在手機見到的聯絡人要不是在Google上，就是在手機上面，sim卡上不會有的。所以就要到market下載「contacts2sim」將他們複製到sim卡上面。

程式會讓你見到手機的聯絡人，和sim卡上的聯絡人，複製過去之後該會在sim卡那邊。

其實刷rom跟我們重灌電腦一樣，所以的程式都要從頭安裝，所以當存好了聯絡人之後，還可以將安裝好的程式都備分，免得又要花幾個小時逐個逐個widget下回來喔www

開始備分程式

備分程式的話，可以下載MyBackup，他會把程式壓縮成一個檔案，之後存到SD卡上面去。雖然market只是提供了試用版，可是沒辦法了w　也得一試。

還可以備分手機其他資料噢

還後最後的就是手機上的SMS、通話記錄等。要是獨立備分SMS的話，還可以到market下載SMS Backup來用。

下載新ROM

好了，到下載新ROM的時候。跟以往HTC提供的ROM不同，這次下載要大家輸入手機的序號。可這不是我們一般來辨識手機的IMEI，的確是手機本身的產品序號。官方網頁說可以在電池底的貼紙找到，可是android手機要關機再開機都最小要幾分鐘時間。所以小的建議可以在手機盒子外找，免得要先關機，之後又再開機，再等待一會才可以更新ROM。

開始刷了

下完新ROM之後，要電一定要先安裝hTc sync。如果沒有安裝到的話，就可以在手機SD卡上找到安裝程式。之後再到HTC網頁更新htc sync。保持htc sync一直打開，電腦工作列上會有一個綠色的圖示，顯示手機正在跟電腦通聯。如果安裝了htc sync之後，手機跟電腦連接在一起，可是電腦說連不了線可以先用別的電腦試一下，要是再不行的話，就要把手機帶到HTC客服中心，等10分鐘左右就行了。

android跟我們say hi 喔

呵呵．．．灌院之後開機居然見到android先在螢幕底出現，之後再在螢幕頂冒出來跟大家揮手。本身以為跟wm一樣，是第一次用新rom才有的效果，原來每次開機都會有的。

在第一頁輸入過google account之後，就會跟Palm一樣，教大家用鍵盤，之後就會要你輸入Facebook、Flickr和twitter的帳號，讓Twitter的widget可以運作和讓手機可以在flickr下載聯絡人的圖片。

終於都完成了（汗”）。更新了的magic比以前好多了，跟hero一樣有6個桌面和不同的htc widget可用，只是設定桌面還是不可以靠內建的程式，還得去market找來desktop set and save。要不然只可以選圖片的一角作背景。

簡訊介面

雖然andriod一開始就跟wm 6.1一樣，以對話的方式顯市簡訊的記錄。可以是以前只是A:XXX（對話）　B:XXX（對話的）一直往下排，不算容易看清話是誰說的，攪不好的就會誤會意思。而這次在簡訊介面上就改善了不少，把不同人的訊息清楚分開來。而且接聽聯絡人來電可能因為本身ROM是設計給hero的關係，只須要用手指在畫面往下多了說。

就這樣，魔術變身成功了，呵呵呵

The thing to remember with any new phone is that it takes both a while to learn and also setup how you want it to be etc.
This morning brought a knock and the door and my new HTC HD2 phone with Windows 6.5 Professional operating System on it.
So, the first job was to painstakingly save all my original contacts to the SIM card before swapping it over, then learn the rudimentary operations of the phone it’s self.
I know I’m not used to it yet, and while it’s lighteningly quick, it’s a little too sensitive and very easy to open the wrong application up.
It took a while to see the memory card and frankly, I have no idea just how much data is being transferred at any given time.
The one little bug-bare is when I connect it to my laptop, I want it to connect to the internet using the available laptop connection.
The thing is, while everything is just wonderful and there’s so much innovation in this thing – I need to download the Divx codec to watch some of the vids I’ve loaded on it. But it won’t let me, or at least doesn’t seem to want me to do it at all.
There was also a third party thing offering 15hrs of free GPS?! I just hit on Google maps and all the info I needed was already available – odd!
Text’d Gabby with it and all that seems ok, would have text’d WKD but havent seen her for a while and she’s also quite a busy bee.

All in all though, it’s a very robust thing and while it lets you do a lot of customizations – it does not seem to want you to un-customize things if you make a mistake – or I haven’t read that bit yet lol.

Next up, one guitar, amp and laptop to make some of my own ringtones – LOL be afraid! lol

On top of all this there’s quite a bit of personal family stuff on the go at the moment, so while I should be working, I’ve got my head down.

Telecom gear vendor ZTE will step up its game in the crowded smartphone space next year with an Android-based handset, and Google is rumored to be working on its own device. But as the smartphone market continues to heat up, manufacturers are learning the hard way that the key to success in mobile phones lies in the software — not the hardware.

Handset manufacturers are increasingly being elbowed out of the way as carriers embrace developers of operating systems and the apps that run on top of them. Motorola, for instance, is an afterthought in Verizon’s big-budget campaign in support of its Droid initiative, and HTC’s brand is nowhere to be found in T-Mobile’s recent commercial pushing the MyTouch 3G. Meanwhile, Nokia continues to fare poorly in the U.S. due largely to its unwillingness to capitulate to American carriers, and smaller manufacturers like Sony Ericsson are becoming irrelevant as they lose market share.

Two phone makers are bucking the trend, though, and they’re doing it by churning out handsets based on their own operating systems. Apple’s iPhone has become an iconic device thanks largely to its intuitive user interface and knockout browser, while Research In Motion continues to gain traction — and mind share — with its BlackBerry, an enterprise-focused handset with software that stresses functionality over fun. Both Apple and RIM are backing their hardware with ad campaigns that put the manufacturer — not the carrier — in front of consumers.

HTC is fighting back with its impressive “You” television commercials, which tout the phone’s Sense user interface and promotes the device’s personalization features. That’s a strategy that will pay dividends as manufacturers become marginalized in mobile, and as software increasingly becomes a key differentiator in the minds of consumers.
