El fin de semana fue la convención de cómics aquí en Monterrey y compré muchos cómics muy baratos, a $5 pesos, menos de 50 centavos de dólar americano, claro que para esto tuve que comprar más de diez, pero me surtí de cómics de Punisher y Uncanny X-Men, uno de estos de la serie de los número doscientos veintitantos. El Thor de la foto andaba en la convención, era un indito con peluca rubia, bien nórdico se veía el Odinson Región Cuatro.

En mi trabajo me bloquearon muchas páginas, pero no sé porque ahorita si pude entrar al blog, así que aprovecho para subir la lista.

Before I begin this review properly I would like to apologise for the lack of a review yesterday.  The review of the French comedy classic Le diner de cons will be on its way to you soon.  However, I am going to bring my own musings on another film Taking Woodstock.  The eagle-eyed among you will have seen the headline and will guess how I feel about this film.  Unfortunately I am quite a big Ang Lee fan.  The man who brought the world classics such as Lust, Caution and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon has not repeated his usual high standards. In fact he has created a disaster worst than his 2003 epic of misery Hulk. I feel cheated.  I feel like the master has decided not to treat me to an evening of cinematic excellence, and instead has pulled down my trousers and bummed vigorously for 2 hours (Not a pleasant experience).  Anyway sit back relax and watch as we probe away to discover why you should not watch Taking Woodstock.

The film follows Jake Teichberg.  He has gone back to his families loss making motel to help them try and survive.  With closure looming, Jake gets wind of the forced move of the Woodstock music festival.  As he has already got a license to host a music event he gets in touch with them, this results in him turning his small town in to the iconic music event.

Where do I begin?  The film is 1hr 50 minutes and you feel every single second of this, in particular the first half feels like you are pulling your teeth out with the most boring dentist in Beige Hospital.  Everything about it is dull.  I understand that Mr Lee was simply trying to set everything up for the second half.  However, he could have done this in a tenth of the time and still not have lost any of the quality of the film.

The second half is completely different.  The film springs to life.  The festival is on the verge of collapsing again.  The young people are destroying the family motel and Jake is on the brink.  The development from here to the end of the festival is actually quite good.  In particular the scenes involving the father rediscovering his happiness by spending time with a transvestite security guard and Jake’s journey into the world of drugs and music.

There are two exceptional performances in the film.  Imelda Staunton plays Jakes mother, a strict Russian woman who is obsessed with making money.  Staunton’s performance is spell bindingly and probably steals the show as she is so dislikeable that you end up enjoying every scene she is in.  The other great performance is Liev Schreiber, his portrayal of Vilma a transvestite security guard is priceless.  Frankly without him the film would have been devoid of any humour.  I put his small role down to the film being just about acceptable to watch.  and for achieving that he surely deserves a nod at this years Oscars.

The worst performance is sadly Jake, played by Henry Goodman.  He is wooden, uninteresting and is a disappointment to the acting profession. It is not because the character is like this, its because he cannot act.  At no point do you believe that he is Jake and throughout you’re fully aware that this is a young actor cutting his teeth.  He breaks the cinematic illusion and for that I not forgive him.  I also do not forgive him for having possibly the biggest nose I have ever seen in my life.  It is so large people in Austria ski down it in winter.  For half the film I spent my time trying to work out if there was a background, because his nose was in the way.  Get plastic surgery and acting lessons and then you might just be able too appear in something other than series 10 of I’m a celebrity, get me out of here.

Ang Lee.  I won’t rip you to pieces because you’re a great director but honestly this was poor.  Next time make sure you have actually got a plot line and vaguely decent script before you decide to make a film.

Overall it is alright but is not worth the money.  Wait until it is on itv2 in three years.

4/10 – Beige

Last night, i accepted an invitation to see the World’s Greatest Wrestler, Hulk Hogan! A friend of mine, Ben Rosenthal, is a massive wrestling enthusiast/nerd, and has been trying to drag me to a ‘fight’ for years. “But it’s fake, and the result is pre-determined, so what’s the point?” i’d say to him. To which, he’d reply (in blog form of course);

Ask yourself a question; Do you go to the movies?  Were you entertained by it?  Guess what, movies are FAKE!  Read a good non-fiction book recently, like Lord of The Rings or Wayne Carey’s autobiography – FAKE!  My point being, just because you know something isn’t real doesn’t mean you cannot be entertained by it.  Wrestling, just like tv, books and movies, is an escape from the day to day drull that is life.  For an hour or two you can boo the evil bad guys, cheer the wholesome good guys, or be confused by the tweeners (wrestling lingo).

Thanks Ben, NOW GET THE HELL OUT OF MY BLOG! 

He actually makes a pretty good point. I cheer for Batman at the movies. I cheer for Dexter on the television. I cheer for Team Jacob when i’m reading…..err….i mean, nothing. *clears throat*

My night at the wrestling was hilarious. Before the wrestlers get down to business in the ‘fight’, they partake in a 10 minute role play. They call each other names, they flex their muscles, they tell their opponent what they plan to do to them, and they flex their muscles. Did i mention the muscle flexing? Cool. It’s kind of like the dialogue in a porn film before they get down to business. Only the acting in porn is more believable. 

The ‘fight’ itself is even funnier. Chess is more of a contact sport than wrestling. A three count with your opponent on the floor equals victory. The referee will count to two and a half at least ten times per ‘fight’. Apparently this is suspenseful. They stamp their feet on the mat for sound as they throw faux-punches that rarely land within a metre of the target. The crowd cheers. The crowd boo’s. One of them is hit over the head with a chair that looks suspiciously like it’s made out of cardboard, and then a winner is announced. Pretty simple formula really. 

This year, inspired by the Danny Wallace book ‘Yes Man’, i’ve decided to say yes to more opportunities. Last month i went to a Britney Spears concert. There, i said it. This blog is fast becoming a form of therapy. But it brings me to my new game (drumroll), welcome to HULK, BRITNEY, OR BOTH? Simply pick one of those three options for each of the following;

- Performed in front of thousands of people at the Burswood Dome?

- Provided a fake performance?

- Failed to speak to their fans once?

- Had a show with an abundance of leather, lycra, knee high boots, sequins and exposed nipples?

- Main drawcard was a slightly out of shape blonde thing waddling awkwardly around a stage?

If you answered ‘Both’ to all of the above, congratulations, you’re absolutely correct! 

Hiro Kala, Son of Hulk

A character first introduced by Planet Hulk scribe Greg Pak, Hiro Kala has reigned over the Son of Hulk series after the previous lead Skaar departed for the renumbered Incredible Hulk series. Debuting in a series of back-up stories, Hiro Kala is as tormented and tortured as Banner or Skaar.

A slave liberated by Axeman Bone as a kind of protege, Hiro Kala had become obsessed with finding the Old Power as a way to escape the weaknesses that made him a whipping boy since his youth. After the destruction of Sakaar at the hands of Galactus (thanks, Skaar), Hiro Kala lays claim to the legacy of the Hulk. Leading the shattered remains of his people, he swears to Galactus’ face that he will avenge the destruction of his homeworld… to the face of the ‘eater of worlds.’

The Planet Hulk story line introduced not just new ideas but a new lease on life for the ailing Hulk comic book. While hardly anyone in comics could be bothered to talk about the character before Planet Hulk, after its run there have been one-shots and spin-offs in addition to three monthly Hulk comics… all of which are top sellers. While some may cry foul that Marvel is egging the pudding by introducing so much Hulk so quickly, you have to admit that old green jeans has not had this level of press since the Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno TV program.

Creator of the Wolverine: Origin story and the Sentry, writer Paul Jenkins has written the Son of Hulk series with Hiro Kala as the lead character since issue 13. As of today, the series will close. Since the solicitation for a ‘Seige’ one-shot shows Hiro Kala as still kicking around, I am betting that the cancellation of the Son of Hulk series is merely a formality to make room for the ‘Fall of Hulks’ and ‘War of the Hulks’ crossovers starting very shortly and that next year we will see more of this character. Jenkins met with CBR.com to discuss his approach to the series and his thoughts on its closure on issue 17.

“I wasn’t sure if it was my kind of material at first, to be quite honest,” the writer explained of his initial reaction to the idea of writing a Skaar-less “Son of Hulk.” “I like to call my own shots about the stories I write. And then [editor Mark Panniccia] tells me this idea that it could be the other son [who the series follows], and I was a bit more intrigued. Then we had this discussion about whether there could be this thing we did with Hiro-Kala that really turned the character around and turned people’s perception of Galactus around and that whole mythology. And then I was really sold. Within this ten-minute conversation with Mark, I was really enthusiastic about it. At that point, I said, ‘Now I can write a story I really want to write.’”

“Galactus is addicted to the Old Power. So he’s basically a crackhead. He’s eaten a planet with Old Power cocaine in it, and it flips him out. He goes out into the universe as this real destructive force of nature, devouring everything ahead of him because he wants as many Old Power planets as he can have. He does it to Hiro-Kala’s planet first, and Hiro-Kala looks him in the eye and says, ‘I’m going to take you out.’

“We always get into this overly big story – who’s the biggest? Who’s the strongest? Who can beat up Galactus this time? Like, we get Spider-Man beating up Galactus. But this story turns [Hulk's son] into a force of nature and sees if a tiny dude like Hiro-Kala could literally make him pay.”

“The very thing we set up is supposed to tie right back into the event. When I started writing it, it wasn’t intended to, but once we wrote the scripts up and everybody could see it, they said, ‘We’ve got to bring this right back in.’ I never really planned for this thing. I just wanted to set Hiro-Kala up so people could see who he becomes. But he’s also useful to the event and the future of the Hulk universe.”

So it looks like what we have seen so far is just a prelude to a much larger story to come in 2010. In case you missed them, a collection of the Hiro Kala stories is hitting the shelves in January. Issue 17 arrives at comic book shops today.

This was REALLY quick. But it’s done. Only 6 more to go. I might draw a few quick ones… This has been fun (30 characters in 30 days), but I’m starting to get a bit busy on other stuff and need the extra time. So I guess I’ll get busy when I get back from a few errands….

Anyway, I drew this in about 12 minutes (he’s only about 2″ tall).. Colored him in about 2o… I don’t know why, but he seems like an amalgamation of Hulk characters: the Hulk himself, Doc Samson’s (old uni), the Abomination… Maybe Killer Croc from Batman’s Rogues Gallery… Subconscious at work I guess. I think my biggest influence shows through on small quick ones like this… I could’ve done better on his sabre-teeth (or maybe the whole thing…).

Brazilian footballers tend to take a more cavalier approach to making the distinction between given names and nicknames. Hence a good proportion of the boys in yellow run around with something a little out of the ordinary written across their shoulders. This ranges from the amusingly prosaic like Fred, Jo or my personal favourite, Tim, to the scatalogically infantile such as Kaka and Dudu. 

But sometimes the choice of moniker can represent an unfair advantage. During England’s one-sided friendly in Doha last week Givanildo Vieira de Souza was brought on to make his debut. Otherwise known as Hulk. The provenance of this sobriquet is disputed but what is certain is that it strikes fear into the heart of any opposition defence. Hulk is aptly named: muscular, stocky and a generally a nuisance. Particularly when he’s angry.

I’d argue that Fifa should introduce a law that entitled every international team to adopt this relaxed approach to the naming of squad members, but Wazza, Crouchy and JT don’t really share that same sense of menace.

Beim ersten Blick ist man geschockt, doch dann fragt man sich doch ob er wirklich so zugerichtet worden sein kann. Ist dies möglicherweiße nur eine fragwürdige Promo-Aktion für seinen nächsten Kampf? Am Vergangenen Dienstag traf Hogan jedenfalls auf seinen Gegner Ric Flair, während einer Pressekonferenz in Australien.

Nach einem kurzen Wortaustausch, soll Hogan von seinem Gegenüber in den Schwitzkasten genommen worden sein und Flair fing an heftig auf seinen Kopf einzuschlagen, bis er blutüberströmt am Boden lag. Ein Sprecher von Hulk Hogan besteht darauf, dass es sich um einen echten Kampf handelte, die Welt aber zweifelt an der Echtheit.

Ich persönlich denke das es eine Promo-Aktion ist, irgendwie wirkt das Bild nicht real auf mich. Sollte es sich tatsächlich um eine Prügelei gehandelt haben, wünsche ich Herrn Hogan gute Genesung.

Even though I don’t read Hulk regularly (I’m sure some of you out there can guess why), I’ve always had a soft spot for the guy. (Okay, I have a Hulk poster on my bedroom wall and several Hulk toys on my bookshelf. What of it, huh?) So today I bring you The Incredible Hulk #5, “Beauty and the Beast.” There’s technically two stories in this issue, but I’m only doing one. You want both of them, tough. Don’t be greedy.

This comic starts out with The Most Exciting Moment Ever in Comics. General Ross’s slideshow. Apparently, ol’ Thunderbolt makes his daughter and her friends sit on his couch and watch slides. About the Hulk. Because he is insane and obsessive. However, we learn lots of important information from this slideshow. Like how the Hulk can hold an exploding atomic bomb and live and can also pick up stone buildings and throw them. I’m fairly sure that T-Bolt has just doctored a bunch of fake slides in order to see what kind of bullshit he can claim as fact.

After boring everyone into a stupor with his Slideshow of Lies, General Ross announces that his job is to stop the Hulk, no matter what. But since the Hulk can apparently not be stopped by giant magnets or atomic explosions, Ross has decided he must turn to science – in the form of asking for help from one Dr. Bruce Banner. It is important to note here that Banner is wearing an entirely purple suit. Now, I was not alive in the 60’s, so maybe everyone wore purple suits. Perhaps they were all the rage and if you walked into a room, at least 9/10ths of the people in there would be in purple suits. This could be the case and I would not know. However, personally, were it me, I would be at least questioning the fact that the Hulk wears pants that are the exact same shade of horrific purple as that pimp suit Bruce is sporting. But I suppose Thunderbolt is too busy fabricating crazy slideshows.

Anyway, Bruce promises he’ll help stop the Hulk. But he is the Hulk. But General Oblivious does not know this. Right.

Next we learn some very important things: Betty Ross has a secret love for Bruce Banner and Tyrannus lives in the center of the Earth, where he was banished by Merlin, and drinks from the Fountain of Youth while ordering his tiny, huge-headed minions to do science for him.

It is also important to note that Tyrannus wears this totally rad hat.

 
I tried to come up with words for this. I could not.

So Tyrannus has a plan to protect himself from nuclear annihilation that apparently involves meeting Betty Ross, posing as an archeologist, and getting her to bring him to some caves, but that’s not important. What is important is that Rick Jones says things like “gasser” and “daddy-o.” Because that’s hilarious.

While Betty is off gallivanting with “archeologist” Tyrannus, Bruce proves why is one of the smartest people on Earth (and possibly the only person in the Marvel U with any actual sense). He points out that A) an archeologist wouldn’t need a girl who doesn’t study caves to show him caves and B) an archeologist studying caves would have some sort of archeological equipment.

Also, Bruce figures it’s pretty suspicious that there’s now a giant bolder blocking the entryway to the cave after Betty and Tyrannus the “archeologist” went in. This, folks, is why he’s a genius.

Since Bruce is a genius and all, it turns out he’s right. Tyrannus is up to no good. He leads Betty to his underground lair in his tricked out underground car…thing and shows her his two-way view screen, which he uses to threaten General Ross and inform him he has his daughter hostage. If T-Bolt wants Betty to live, then he has to just quietly let Tyrannus attack the “Surface World.” Betty points out that Tyrannus is clearly on the train to Crazytown, but he tells her to shut it because he’s been doing this since before she was born. So there.

 
Yeah, woman! Silence!

But fear not, Miss Ross! For your rescue is close at hand – in the form of Rick Jones and his Flying Hulk!

(Total digression, but will there ever come a day when Marvel comes up with a version of the Hulk and just sticks with it? Especially Banner Hulk, because he’s just one guy. Why does there have to be umpteenmillion versions of one guy? How about we just all decide he’s green, he’s angry, and he smashes things and leave it there? Also, he lives on the planet Earth. Okay, I’m done now.)

Anywhoo, back in the 60’s, chatty, possibly aerodynamic Hulk is underground trying to save the irritatingly-helpless Betty. However, Tyrannus has planned for this and knows the one thing Hulk can’t fight: Volcanic gas! This just proves my theory that General Thunderbolt is a Lying Liar Who Lies. He can withstand an atomic blast at close range (as in actually holding the bomb…) but he’s taken down by some gas? Something there isn’t adding up. But as I always have to do with these things, I’m just ignoring the logic fail and moving on. To where Hulk has been rendered unconscious and captured by the cunning use of volcano gas.

 
Any comment I could make about this panel would be inappropriate.

At this point we now have Betty, the Hulk, and Rick Jones all captured and Tyrannus is planning to take over the “Surface World” while General Ross will ignore him in favor of doctoring slides or something. You’d think, with his plan falling so neatly into place, Tyrannus would now mount his surface attack, however it is he’s planning to go about that exactly. But no, he decides instead he needs to watch a good old fashioned gladiator match. And by that, I mean he sends the Hulk to fight a robot with a flamethrower.

 
Actually, Hulk, those are good questions to be asking.

During this completely logical progression of the plot, the Hulk starts out kicking ass, even though he decides to take off the fire-proof armor to fight the fire-shooting robot (Banner wasted all the logic allotted to this comic several panels ago). However, then the robot gets the upper hand and punches him with his super robot arm.

But then, FINALLY we see some angry Hulk. Hulk does not like to be punched in the face. It makes him cranky. Like this:

Hulk uses the full power of his anger to smash the holy fuck out of that robot. And then he charges Tyrannus. Because it is time for a giant green beatdown. Hooyah!

Only it’s not. Because Tyrannus uses his paralyzer gun to stop Hulk. But fear not, because as soon as Hulk is unparalyzed he’s going to smash those tiny minions like nobody’s bizness and save Betty and Rick!

Yeah, no. He becomes a slave and does tasks like building dams. Because Tyrannus might kill Betty otherwise. Forget the fact he’s the freaking Incredible Hulk and can supposedly throw whole buildings and maybe even snuggle with exploding nukes. Some volcano fog and a damned stun gun and he’s your slave.

(If you’re wondering where Rick Jones is, he appears to be hiding behind a building the whole time without being noticed. Yeah, I got nothin’ either…)

But at least by being all docile and stuff he’s saving both himself and Betty, right?

 
Oh.

But wait! It turns out that Rick does more than just hide behind buildings! He also managed to somehow get (and fit in) one of the guard outfits for those tiny minions and get to Betty, saving her. But before they can get to the Hulk they’re ambushed by tiny minions brandishing maces! Whatever will Rick and Betty do now?!

 
Damn females. Always in the way.

Well, the Hulk, realizing Betty is no longer in danger, is there to finally put a freaking smackdown on someone. He busts through a wall and starts busting heads. Personally, when it comes to the Hulk, I do not find one robot gladiator fight enough. I want smashiness! So Hulk gets with the destruction by taking down some giant pillars and letting them fall on Tyrannus. And then pretty much just leaving him under the rocks to die while he begs the Hulk not to do that. It’s pretty metal. (It doesn’t make up for the fact the rest of this comic was mostly boring.)

 
I demand fewer slideshows and more this.

With Tyrannus buried alive and all the minions Hulk-smashed, Hulk, Rick, and Betty can travel back to the surface in their giant bubble thing. (I have no idea what this is. The vehicles in this comic are really weird. Seriously.) The Hulk has heroically saved the day, so, of course, Betty will now realize he has a noble heart in there, once you get past the bad hair, green skin, and bright purple pants. Maybe he can even reveal he’s really Bruce Banner, she can reveal she’s in love with Bruce Banner, and everyone can be happy.

Or, you know, this could happen.

 
Okay, in all seriousness, this is very lame. Laaaaame.

So in the end, we learn that women are hysterical and pretty much useless in a crisis. Got it. (I will note here as well that Betty’s actually dialogue has the word “sob” inserted between words to denote said hysteria.) But it’s okay that Betty’s a big wuss. Hulk doesn’t need her! He doesn’t need anyone!

 
Sure, Hulk. We all know you really just want a hug.

In deze actie pakket aflevering David is blootgesteld aan een meteoor en zit vast in een halve staat als Demi Hulk.
In de afleveringen climax de Hulk wordt gevangen door het leger.

Haciendo gala en el primer número de la nueva revista de Bajo Control aparece este pequeño Cómic simplemente titulado “Planes Futuros” – Creo que la ilustración habla por si misma.

Como esto es una Crónica Vicino, iré más allá de la pura imágen que ven justo arriba de esto. Así que como el conocimiento es de todos, les compartiré un poco del proceso de creación de la imágen. Si no les interesa aprender a ilustrar digitalmente, pueden irse hasta al final y solo dar click al último link donde pueden ver la ilustración en un tamaño mucho más grande en mi página de Deviant Art (y comprarla si les gusto!) ^_^ – Cabe notar que la forma en que lo hago no es ni la única, ni la mejor, pero si la que yo uso, así que a quien le interese, puede partir de ahí y luego adaptar esto a su estilo!

Todo empieza en papel...

Como (casi) toda ilustración, todo comienza en un pedazo de papel, y con un lapiz a la mano. Nunca está de más decir que lo más importante es la idea. Si no tienen la idea, es dificil plasmar algo en el papel, asi que ponganse a hacer notas, vean otras revistas, otros comics y de pronto como por arte de magia mientras estamos en lugares inesperados – !! – Llega la idea, y entonces sí, es hora de plasmarla en el papel.

Escáner + Wacom = Tinta digital!

El siguiente paso, es normalmente entintar las líneas para que estas resalten y la ilustración se vea más limpia. Gracias a la magia de la tecnología, esto se hace puede hacer digitalmente, escaneándo primero la imágen, y luego usando una maravillosa tabla Wacom se entinta todo directamente en Photoshop a mano (al menos en mi caso, con esta ilustración) – El tip #1 es: Entintar en una capa diferente a la de la imagen escaneada y usar la herramienta de “Brush”, en un tamaño de 3 pixeles. Lo demás, es pura práctica. El tip #2 es: en la parte superior de la sección de capas, viene un textito que dice “Lock”, si le dan click al primer recuadrito (que tiene cuadritos blancos y grises), su capa queda “transparente” y pueden cambiar de color cualquier linea con solo pasar el “pincel” encima. Esto es muy útil al final del proceso.

Y se hizo el color!

Una vez entintada nuestra ilustración en una capa nueva, generalmente debajo del entintado, empezamos a poner los colores base de cada cosa. Para que quede mejor, lo hago a mano con el pincel (con un tamaño mucho mayor) y me encargo de que no quede ningun “hueco”, incluyendo el color blanco. Es importante que no queden huecos, porque en el siguiente paso, eso nos va a alivinar la vida enormemente.

Una vez teniendo un color base en toda la ilustración, sigue el famoso sombreado. Lo más importante para generar sombras, es SABER de donde viene la luz en la ilustración. Para fines didactico-explicativos, lo señalé literalmente en la ilustración. Teniendo eso en mente, entonces empezamos a sombrear. En este tipo de ilustraciones, y normalmente hago 2 “niveles” de sombra, y no esta de más decir que cada una, tiene su propia capa. El tip #1: Para sombrear con más facilidad, usa la “varita mágica” de photoshop, seleccionando alguno de los colores base, y ya teniéndolo seleccionado, pintando, en la capa correspondiente, la sombra (de este modo no te “sales” del area, ya que esta seleccionada). El tip #2: Para seleccionar los colores de sombra correctos, usa la herramienta de “cuentagotas”, seleccionando el color base, y despues cambiándolo por algún tono mas oscuro en la gama de colores. - Da click en la imágen para ver la colocación de sombrados animados –

Ahora agregamos brillos... - Para ver los brillos animados, da click en la imagen -

El siguiente paso son las luces y brillos, que basicamente, son lo opuesto a las sombras que ya hice. No es algo que se tenga que hacer siempre, pero en este caso, me latio hacerlo y use 2 capas para “brillos” o “luces”, una más brillante que la anterior. La forma de hacerlo es exactamente la misma que las sombras, pero con su obvia distinción. Una vez terminado esto, sigue lo más importante: Los detalles. - Da click en la imágen para ver la colocación de brillos animados -

Los detalles son la parte que le dan vida a la ilustración y la hacen ver más allá de un simple dibujo. En realidad no hay mucho que hacer más que practicar para saber donde van, que se ve mejor y como hacerlos. En este caso, lo primero que hice, fueron las luces, que no son más que círculos blancos, con cortes para simular la proyección de la luz, y borradas a mano, con diferentes opacidades de la herramienta de la goma para simular que la luz se hace “menos intensa” según se proyecta. Los letreros no son más que recortes pegados y modificados con la herramienta de “Transformar” y los brillos de los letreros de la pared, son hechos a mano con el pincel blanco a diferentes opacidades. Al final, la nieve, no es mas que usar la herramienta del pincel en diferentes tamaños, y con estilo degradado. Como siempre, mi recomendación, es usar un layer, por cada “detalle”, tal como van apareciendo en la imagen. - Da click en la imágen para ver la colocación de detalles animados -

La versión final...

Para finalizar la imagen, añadí los textos necesarios, el globo de texto y como debe ser, mi firma digital. Si les interesa ver esta ilustración en un tamaño mucho más vistoso, chéquenla en mi perfil de Deviant Art AQUÍ. Un último tip, es que al final se pueden retocar las líneas del entintado, pintándolas de diferentes colores. Por ejemplo las líneas que se cruzaban con las luces del fondo, decidí pintarlas de un color gris/blanco, para que le dieran más intensidad a la luz y pareciera que la orilla se perdía en la luz. Del mismo modo se pueden colorear dichas líneas de cualquier color, siempre y cuando, hayan seleccionado el cuadrito de las opciones que menciono al principio de esto.

Dunga, como todos agora já sabem, é um cara de sorte. Nosso técnico não só nasceu com o o bumbum virado para a lua, como deu mostras de que também vive por lá. Antes do amistoso contra Omã, o maravilhoso Dunga elogiou o adversário: “É um time ótimo“, disse o comandante da seleção do hexa.

Nem as convocações esdrúxulas são mais contestadas! Contra Omã, o maravilhoso Dunga chamou o incrível Hulk. E mal saiu uma linha criticando o jogador desconhecido. Virou quase unanimidade. Bem diferente do comportamento da velha imprensa, arcaica e manipuladora, quando, por exemplo, foi convocado o Afonso Alves.

Pegue todas estatísticas, todas convocações, todas coletivas, todas roupas coloridas. Ele é o cara. Um sucesso, candidatíssimo até ao Troféu Imprensa de Sílvio Santos. No entanto, ao contrário de algumas camisas modelitos primavera que chegou a usar – especialmente selecionadas por sua filha, nem tudo são flores.

Orgulho e glória do desporto nacional

Depois do último compromisso contra Omã, o maravilhoso Dunga terá que se preocupar com três nomes para 2010: o Fenômeno Ronaldo, o Imperador Adriano e o Surfista Fred. E agora? Mesmo mal, Robinho é “do grupo”, inquestionável para ele, e Nilmar vem muito bem. E ainda tem Luís Fabiano, dono absoluto da camisa 9. Sorte que contra Omã, nem o mais mais patriota assistiu aquela pelada de despedida do mã ravilhoso ano de Dunga. Mas 2010 é outra história.

Atos nada secretos em busca do hexa; Dunga não está nem aí para o tal padrão de jogo

Histórias em quadrinhos e videogames é uma combinação que, na maioria das vezes, rende coisas muito boas. Não é para menos, já que a ação e os poderes das HQs combinam e muito com o mundo fantástico dos games. E o que dizer de super heróis dentro do Super Nintendo? Super legal, pelo menos a maioria deles. O console com o ’super’ no nome teve jogos de vários dos mais famosos personagens dos quadrinhos – do Batman ao Hulk – transportando-os das páginas dos gibis para a tela da televisão deixando o jogador à vontade com seu novíssimo cinto de utilidades.

Death and Return of Superman – O kryptoniano aparece no Super NES não só em sua versão Clark Kent. Seguindo o enredo do quadrinho de mesmo nome, Death and Return of Superman mostra a morte do herói e seu retorno. Aparecem o Cyborg (O Homem do Amanhã), o Superboy (A Maravilha de Metrópolis), o Homem de Aço (uma versão meio-robô-meio-kryptoniana) e o Erradicador (O Último Filho de Krypton), todos jogáveis e com habilidades diferentes. Não é um dos melhores jogos para o console, mas bem divertido para quem é fã do herói, já que remonta toda a história dos quadrinhos, embora com alguns cortes. Apesar de um pouco repetitivo, tinha algumas fazes no estilo ’shooter’ e ainda permitia que o personagem voasse, algo possível somente ao Superman em um beat’em up.

Batman Returns- Sem usar ao extremo seu cinto de utilidades, o homem-morcego estrela um dos melhores beat’em ups do Super NES. Inspirado no filme de mesmo nome (aquele com o Danny DeVitto como o Pinguim), é tudo o que se espera de Bruce Wayne em sua identidade secreta: muita ação. Assim como a vida do super herói, o jogo não é dos mais fáceis, mas tem controles, gráficos e trilha sonora de excelente qualidade. Ótimo trabalho da Acclaim, diferentemente de Batman Forever, da mesma companhia, feito no estilo Mortal Kombat, uma experiência sofrível no console de 16 bits.

The Incredible Hulk – O que o grandão tem de incrível nos gibis não tem nada de incrível no Super NES. A US Gold fez Hulk parecer um ‘anão’ troncudo com dois metros de altura em um jogo horrível, difícil de jogar e com uma música irritante. Onde já se viu um humano resistir a três socos furiosamente carregados com a força dos raios gama? Sem carros para jogar nos adversários, sem paredes para quebrar, apenas humanos aparentemente ultra resistentes que tentam parar o grandão em um game até confuso. Se Bruce Bane visse o que fizeram com o verdinho, provavelmente ficaria furioso e… o resto vocês já sabem.

X-men: Mutant Apocalypse – Um é pouco, dois é bom, três é demais… e cinco é perfeito! Cinco mutantes em um só jogo, cada um com suas habilidades especiais lutando contra Magneto e Apocalypse. Isso é X-men: Mutant Apocalypse, o melhor jogo dos pupilos de Charles Xavier no Super NES. Gambit, Psylocke, Cyclops, Fera e, claro, Wolverine, são os mutantes à escolha do jogador. Além de habilidades específicas, cada um começa em uma fase diferente, e todas devem ser completadas para que o jogo siga em frente. O estilo, ainda que seja parecido com um beat’em up, se encaixa melhor no gênero de ação, já que tem características de plataforma. Bastante difícil também, mas ao mesmo tempo muito divertido, principalmente por conta dos poderes especiais dos personagens e das batalhas – impossíveis – contra Magneto e Apocalypse no fim.

Captain America and The Avengers – Também estrela mais de um herói, embora apenas o Capitão America esteja no título. O soldado tem a ajuda do Homem de Ferro, de Hawkeye e de Vision, embora a equipe original dos Vingadores tivesse apenas os dois primeiros. Assemelha-se a todos os outros jogos citados até agora, mas em vez de socos e chutes, é baseado em projéteis, ou seja, mais parece um jogo de tiro que de luta, mesmo porque tem fases no estilo shooter. Os gráficos são bem simples e os controles não ruins, mas é mal projetado, apresenta bugs frequentes e o grau de dificuldade se eleva repentinamente. O barato é a aparição dos vilões da Marvel, como o Ceifador e o Fanático, e alguns aliados, como a Mulher Maravilha e o Vespa. Além disso, toda vez que se acerta um inimigo aparecem as onomatopéias tradicionais dos quadrinhos, como “POW” e “THWAK!”.

Spiderman & Venom: Separation Anxiety - Jogar com na pele de super heróis é divertido. Controlando um vilão também! Além do Homem Aranha, é possível controlar o simbionte Venom neste jogo, um dos muitos do aracnídeo para o console. Um beat’em up bem simples e divertido, com a adição dos poderes especiais do Aranha, claro. Afinal, não é todo jogo que permite prender os inimigos em uma teia e escalar prédios se balançado em cipós de fluído. É a continuação de Spiderman & Venom: Maximum Carnage, mas dessa vez é possível jogar com herói e vilão simultaneamente, o que torna tudo infinitamente mais fácil e divertido! Além desse dois, o Aranha ainda tem mais três títulos para o console, um deles junto dos X-Men.

Spawn – Fiel à história e até aos estilo gráfico dos quadrinhos, o único título do demônio para Super NES é divertido para quem é fã da série, mas nenhuma experiência nova para quem só está interssado na ação. Embora tenha várias opções de comandos – todos visualmente muito bonitos quando executados - Spawn é simples de aprender, mas difícil de jogar. Ainda assim, traz a mesma ação dos gibis e não deixa a desejar no quesito fidelidade. Inimigos como Overkill e o próprio demônio Malebolgia aparecem como chefes. Seria uma obra prima se o combate fosse mais elaborado, mas ainda assim vale pelas técnicas avançadas de Spawn.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time – Neste que é considerado um dos melhores beat’em ups de todos os tempos, nada de poderes, heróis voadores e cintos de utilidade. Tudo o que há são quatro tartarugas lutadoras, capangas e pizza. Sem dúvida o melhor jogo das Tartarugas Ninja já produzido. Divertido, fácil de aprender, temática de viagem no tempo e os quatro répteis à escolha do jogador são a receita do sucesso de Turtles in Time. Além de Michelangelo, Donatelo, Rafael e Leonardo, vilões típicos dos quadrinhos entravam em cena. Tudo o que os fãs queriam das Tartarugas Ninja estálá, inclusive a música do desenho animado e os gritos de “kowabanga!”. Posteriormente, as Tartarugas Ninja ganharam um jogo no gênero de luta, mas o título não fez sucesso.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers – Quando os Power Rangers ainda eram um sucesso por aqui e nos Estados Unidos, um jogo foi lançado pela Natsume exatamente nos moldes do seriado da televisão: os cinco adolescentes seguiam batendo nos bonecos desengonçados e, quando as coisas apertavam, era hora de morfar e eles se transformavam nos Power Rangers. Quem era fã da série tinha um prato cheio nas mãos, mesmo não tendo o melhor título para o Super NES. Nas fases finais do jogo, os Rangers invocam o robozão Megazord, como não poderia deixar de ser, para lutar com um monstro de proporções gigantescas. Bastante simples, mas ainda assim bem divertido. Quando ‘morfados’, cada ranger tinha uma arma especial e movimentos próprios. É baseado na primeira geração da série, produzida pela Bandai, a que fez mais sucesso. Posteriormente, foi lançada uma versão de luta dos Power Rangers com cinco Zords (os robôs de cada um) e um novo beat’em up um pouco mais elaborado, que foi produzido com base no filme da segunda geração.

What can be said about our featured villain this week? Four eyes, two (three? or four?) heads, six fingers and all the Avian knowledge of culture and warfare. He most notably tried to have Bruce Banner fix the city of his extinct masters after seeing Harpy (Betty Ross stopped shaving for a few weeks) on the wing. Besides his combat knowledge, his android body grants him increased strength, reflexes and durability. Bi-Beast, we salute you. You know, twice.

Time for a new vintage Hulk hoodie for you, this time the big green brawler is ready for the fight. These Marvel Comics graphic and vintage hoodies are just dominating the site. But you know what, as long as they are this cool their vintage hoodies can have the run of the place!

It had been a pretty long while since I started expecting the sequel to Marvel Ultimate Alliance (2006) sequel and finally, I have got it and finished the game twice. It is a bit odd, because I had really expected much more from this game and at the end, it kinda feels like a dissapointment. Because of my console, the version I will talk about is the Wii version of the game.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, previously known also as Fusion, basically follows the same path of the original game in terms of gameplay. Up to four players can join during anytime of the game, choosing 4 characters among 26 playable Marvel heroes and villains and overcoming each obstacle on their way. One of the new aspects of the game is the fact that now, thanks to the fusion power the characters are able to combine their powers, realeasing a powerful blast of mixed abilities. This new feature, apart from the story, are the only new attractions of the game, so we can say there’s a bit lack of originality.

The characters have improved in a lot of aspects, specially the visual one, but surely fans of the previous game will be struck by the fact of not having really new superpowers. Indeed, almost all the attacks of the first game have come back, with the exception of few that were changed, into something a little bit better, or something even worse. Teamwork is still the same, and the enemy’s level of intelligence becomesa challenge in some moments of the game, but there’s nothing really splendorous. Expectations about the new characters like Jean Grey, Penance, Psylocke, etc. fade quickly, as you realize some are the obvious replacement of the ones in the first game that didn’t enter in this second round (like Psylocke, who is basically Elektra). Some others continue being as good as they were, and pretty few have become really stronger.

The game’s plot follows the Civil War story, on which the heroes have to choose between accepting the Act of Registration from the Government, or not. Depending on what you choose, some characters will be available or not, and missions will change, according to the story you’re playing. Nevertheless, the way the plot is told becomes sometimes quite boring, and you just skip the info in order to start playing the missions. The S.H.I.E.L.D. blue points, where you save your progress and change your team are now spread in not very useful locations, unlike the previous game, and you can’t change characters who have died in battle anymore. You have to bring them back to life using the Fusion, and in the Wii version, there are no costumes for the characters. 

Bosses have a balanced level, and the locations, although they are not as exotic as in the prequel, are now made with more detail, giving the game a pleasant visual effect. Missions have become shorter in lenght and not very dinamic in some moments. A good improvement from the first Wii version is that the Wii Remote Control is now more enjoyable without being an irritating feature. Attacks are not made by the control’s movement anymore, and isntead, it is required only in specific actions.

So, in general, MUA2 it’s the same game as the first one with some improvements but no really outstanding feature, a story that can be sometimes hateful, and cool characters that still, have something which doesn’t really fit at all. A good avergae game, but the first one is really missed by the player while he plays this one.

So, here’s a list of all the playable Wii characters, with a brief opinion of mine (based on my playing with them), and more images. Leave your comments as you wish!

1.- Captain America: He’s basically the same as in the first game, and his attacks are overpowered by most of all the other characters. A shield is not very useful, really… Grade: Useful in some moments.

2.- Iron Man: With some new improvements, Stark’s armor is not only a reliable backup, but also quite an offensive fighter. He’s not only powerful but also resistant. Grade: Essential for victory!

3.- Thor: The mighty Nordic God might not seem trustful in this game, but hides great power in his hammer. Strong and offensive, clearly a great choice. Grade: Good choice!

4.- Hulk: This new ally it’s powerful by nature. His only “but” is that he requires “rage” for some of his attacks, but it’s a good companion in rooms full of enemies… Grade: Good choice!

5.- Spiderman: The web-head neighbour it’s the master of agility, and along with his spider powers becomes a useful tool whether for running away, or fighting multiple enemies at a time… Grade: Essential for victory!

6.- Mr. Fantastic: Thanks to his elastic powers, he can reach enemies that are not close to him, but his physical power from the last game, went from 5 to 2 so think about it… Grade: Not the best, not the worst.

7.- Invisible Woman: Susan’s powers have increased from 5, to extra 5, becoming quite a good heroine to play with. Not only will she protect her mates using big shields, but also her “fusion” abilities end up with massive destruction! Grade: Essential for victory!

8.- Human Torch: Johnny’s fire power is strong, and used in a proper way, becomes destructive, besides, his combinations with the other heroes always result in total blast, surely, one hell of a flame! Grade: Good choice!

9.- The Thing: Ben’s physical power it’s the same, but unlike the first game, he’s a little bit faster. This allows him to act like a big bull enemies can’t run from!!! Grade: Good choice!

10.- Wolverine: The iconic X-Man, remains the same as in the prequel, but his lack of power is far more visible. It’s not a good idea to use metal claws against metal armors… Grade: Useful in some moments.

11.- Storm: Storm’s lightnings are a good weapon when a lot of enemies surround you, but… apart from that she has nothing really good to add, except (maybe…) her fusion compability… Grade: Useful in some moments.

12.- Cyclops: This new player seems to have a poor gameplay, but his optical powers ban that statement and make him a good mate rivals can’t deal with. Grade: Good choice!

13.- Jean Grey: She’s probably one of the best newcomers to the game. Not only can she revive with her powers, but also ask her Phoenix’s soul for help and play with telekinesis as if she were playing with dolls. Grade: Essential for victory!

14.- Iceman: Basically the same as always, Iceman icy powers are useful for freezing enemies once and for all, trapping them in what can become a massive punching bag. Fast, agile, and a good shooter… what else do you ask? Grade: Good choice!

15.- Gambit: Another newcomer who impresses with her explosive cards. His shooting ability is stunning, and more when his cards fly everywhere without even aiming at an enemy! Grade: Good choice!

16.- Psylocke: This lady’s pink powers are not very realiable and you’d prefer to take Jean instead of her. Her pink blade is probably a good weapon, along her butteflies, but she’s not the latest warrior… Grade: Useful in some moments.

17.- Deadpool: This mercenary is everything but rubbish. He shoots as fast as you blink your eyes, teleports, jumps, throws granades and starts the massive attacks as fast as he says: “Hello!” His resistance and health powers… make him the perfect back-up. Grade: Essential for victory.

18.- Daredevil: Not a very impressive character, Daredevil shows us agile movements and baton-based hits. Nothing really amazing. Grade: Not the best, not the worst.

19.- Songbird: Another newcomer who seems to offer a lot, but at the end is just another normal mutant. Her sonic powers are only impressive when the fusion is made. A bad point: she can’t attack while she flies… Grade: Not the best, not the worst.

20.- Blade: The old vampire hunter was weak and this new version of him… is still weak. Surrounded by all the other mutants, he barely even disappears among them. Some attacks have become stronger, and the gunshot is probbaly his best feature. Grade: Useful in some moments.

21.- Ms. Marvel: We still wonder why did she return. She’s not amazing and her attacks do a damage level of mediocrity. The only plus is that she’s strong, but in that case… better take Hulk or the Thing. Grade: Stay at the base.

22.- Penance: This mysterious guy doens’t seem to be strong or physically impressive, although visually, he is. Has energy attacks based in getting pain, but his really strong point is the “fusion” move, that ends up sometimes in total destruction. Grade: Not the best, not the worst.

23.- Luke Cage: This warrior is anything but spectacular. Maybe his fists against the ground are something but aparte from that… the chain, the punch… just don’t really work. Grade: Stay at the base.

24.- Venom: One of the two villains available, Venom it’s one of the best newcomers. His slow melee moves are compensed by really good attackas using his symbiotic abilites, which are able to drain enemy’s life in less that 1 minute! Grotesque, sometimes is the best… Grade: Essential for victory!

25.- Green Goblin: The explosive pumpkins he throws make up for his lack of physical damage. Basically that’s all he does… oh, did I mention he launches missiles? Grade: Not the best, not the worst.

26.- Nanyte Nick Fury: This android version of Nick Fury is strong, and has some good attacks… but he’s lack of visual compability with the rest of heroes, makes him a little odd. Apart from that… his sniper rifle deserves some views. Grade: Not the best, not thw worst.

We do feel sometimes the need of using Dr. Strange, Ghost Rider, Moonknight or Colossus right? Hahaha… among all the mentioned, who’s your favorite???

The waiting and wondering is over. Our eyes have seen the glory of the full line-up of Leader characters for the inaugural set of the Marvel Superstars Trading Card Game, and it is good. We have a Halle Berry.

Zap! Storm is joining Wolverine and Professor X as the first Leaders of the X-Men team affiliation.

Ouch! Ghost Rider burned a path to the final Marvel Knights spot on the Leader list. Hot times ahead.

How perfect! Mr. Fantastic will be joining his invisible mate as a Leader in the Marvel Premier set, which means that the Avengers will be left with only Hulk and Iron Man to represent.

Wow. The line-up is set, and it is simply magnificent. Here are the final 15 announced Leader characters. Get ready for a cardboard party unlike anything mankind has ever seen:
