Girl group, Sistar who returned with their new song, “Alone” had a comeback showcase.

On 12 April, Sistar announced their return with a showcase of their new album, ‘ALONE’ which was held at Ilji Art Hall in Chungdamdong.

Sistar, who has been associated with cute and fresh concepts all this while has made a come back with a sexy and confident concept this time and will continue their promotions in this vein.

Meanwhile, Sistar’s leader, Hyorin demonstrated her determination when she took to the stage despite needing and receiving IV infusions in the dressing room right before the showcase. She expressed regret that she could not give her best on stage due to the state of her health and did not forget to ask fans to show support for their future promotions.

For their long awaited comeback, Sistar plans to focus on performing in music programs and will also appear in various variety shows.

Now that the South Korean drama market has started to jump on board the multi-season series bandwagon, it seems there is no end to the trend.

When KBS’ “Dream High” ― a music-and-dance teen drama ― pulled in strong ratings during its winter run a little over a year ago, it should have come as no surprise that the team behind the series would decide to green light a second season.

In terms of production, little has changed. Holym ― a joint venture formed by JYP Entertainment and Bae Yong-joon’s agency, Keyeast ― is co-producing the sequel with CJ E&M yet again.

Furthermore, JYP Entertainment head Park Jin-young retains both his role as the series’ music and dance director as well as his stint as a teacher (which he played with endearing goofiness) at the art school where “Dream High” is set.

At the drama’s press conference Tuesday, Park highlighted the primary difference between the first season and “Dream High 2.”

“‘Dream High 1’ was my first time doing it all,” he said, referring to his involvement both behind-the-scenes and onscreen. “But with ‘Dream High 2,’ since I have done it all before, all that experience that I accumulated is a real boon. So, I believe that this series will turn out to be even more finished and complete as a work and I think that viewers can look forward to tuning in.”

Park revealed that when “Dream High” ended and the option of doing a second season was put on the table he really worried about whether or not he should do it. His primary concern was that young viewers loved the first installment so much that they might be disappointed by the sequel.

He also admitted that he had no idea what story to tell with a second season, that is, until autumn rolled around and he found his inspiration.

Of his role this time around, Park said, “In ‘Dream High 1’ my character experienced unrequited love.

“This time the situation changes a bit,” he said, hinting that his character will be luckier in love in the second season.

While Park remains a fixture of the series, the rest of the cast, however, has changed completely.

The first installment featured four JYPE singers, including boy band 2PM members Taec-yeon and Woo-young, along with hot property IU. First generation Hallyu star Bae Yong-joon also held a small role in the series.

The second installment is rolling out yet another eclectic mish-mash of K-pop idols.

Ballad-heavy male group 2AM’s Jeong Jin-woon, T-ara’s Ji-yeon (fellow member Ham Eun-jung starred in the first season), After School’s Kahi and SISTAR’s Hyo-rin will be starring in “Dream High 2.”

The entire cast, however, does not hail from the land of K-pop. “Sunny” actress Kang So-ra will be bringing her acting prowess to the series.

If the first installment’s premise was about a group of underdogs competing for a chance to become an international pop star, the sequel unfolds on a much larger scale, with the takeover of the art school by a major entertainment company. A flood of top idols enroll at the school, and art school veterans clash with these newcomers, leading to a battle between the two teams.

Though the plot and cast have changed, judging from the highlight reel that ran at the drama’s press conference in Seoul on Tuesday, it looks like the second season will retain the glitz, the bubble pop and dance-song heavy allure that made the first season so much fun to watch.

“Dream High 2” starts airing Jan. 30 on Monday and Tuesday nights at 9:55 p.m. on KBS 2 TV.

Oxys, Hyorin was one of the confirmed female cast members of MBC’s Lunar New Year special, ‘Pit-a-pat Shake‘.

Although the male partners of the show were supposed to be kept a secret, one industry official revealed on January 6th that Hyorin’s partner was none other than Super Junior‘s Sungmin.

The official revealed that the two completed a shoot at the National Theater of Korea on January 5th.

The show is the pilot program to MBC’s Lunar New Year specials and is considered a spin-off of ‘We Got Married‘ with a focus on dating, not married life.

As revealed earlier, joining Hyorin are Sunhwa, Seungyeon, and Lizzy. Producers revealed that the male partners are a mix of singers and actors.

On January 6th, PD Jun Sung Ho revealed, “We recently completed the first shoot with Seungyeon, Lizzy, Hyorin, Sunhwa, and their male partners. The atmosphere was great, and I think it will be fun for the audience to watch the stories these couples create.”

When asked about the male partners, they revealed, “We cannot reveal that yet. There’s a mix of singers and actors.”

He continued, “The female stars showed a side to them that isn’t normally seen. Seungyeon had unique ideas about dating with a strong feminine side, while Hyorin was cool about everything. Sunhwa was also different from the ‘blank sheet’ character she’s known to be. Lizzy was well-loved by the male stars and worked hard to escape her ‘saturi’ image. Still, she couldn’t help but slip in her country dialect now and then, which was cute.”

The spin-off is the dating version of ‘We Got Married’. The continuation of the show will depend on how the viewers receive it for now.

There’s no doubt that miss A and SISTAR have been two of the most outstanding new girl groups this year.

Being somewhat like rivals, there have been tensions between fans of the two groups over who was better; and now reports say that SISTAR, the group with the older members, have begun to chase down, lock up, and interrogate the members of miss A.

Is this the beginning of a new K-Pop controversy?

Fortunately, this whole thing is only a special stage for the “2010 SBS Gayo Daejun“. SISTAR and miss A are to dress up as cops and inmates respectively for their big performance. Considering how the gimmick is already sexy by cultural standards, we’re sure that these two groups will deliver a hot performance that’ll be talked about for days to come.

Inkigayo’s Special Day.

It was a special day in the history of SBS Inkigayo as it reached a milestone of 600 broadcast episodes today, and it once again promises to be another fun and exciting 80 minute show filled with amazing performances from the top singers in Korea.

Inkigayo To Prepare.

SBS’s “Inkigayo” will be celebrating its 600th episode on December 12th, marking nearly 18 years on the air.

Hwang In Young PD revealed to Newsen on December 9th, “We are currently preparing three special events in celebration of the anniversary.”

MCs from throughout the show’s history - Kim Hee Chul, Song Ji Hyo, and Eun Ji Won - will be appearing alongside current MCs 2AM’s Jo Kwon, CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa, and f(x)’s Sulli for an exciting collaborative effort.

The second event under preparation is a trot medley performance from 2AM’s Changmin and Jinwoon, SHINee’s Key, Orange Caramel’s Lizzy, SISTAR’s Hyorin and T-ara’s Soyeon.

The final event will be in the form of congratulatory stages by a variety of artists, including SISTAR and T-ara.

Hwang PD continued, “It’s been four months since I began working on ‘Inkigayo’ and I’ve received the opportunity to work on our 600th episode. I will be making sure to create wonderful stages worthy of the love the show has been receiving for such a long time.”

“Inkigayo” will air the 80-minute long special from 3:50 to 5:20 PM.

Mighty Sistar.

Having been set for a comeback last week, SISTAR had to delay their comeback promotions for a week due to the Yeongpyeong Island shelling by North Korea.

In addition to that setback, SISTAR also faced scrutiny over their pole dance, having their concept photos leaked, and also failing a review by KBS for its title song lyrics and music video.

How DARE u, Fails KBS Review.

SISTAR’s comeback has been met with a setback due to KBS rejecting the lyrics for their third single title track, “How Dare You.”

KBS reasoned that the lyrics were belittling to others, which was why the song failed their review. The group’s music video has already been banned from being aired on public broadcast due to the pole dance it features, making this additional ban quite the obstacle for the group to overcome.

Regarding this, Star Ship Entertainment revealed, “We never thought that the lyrics wouldn’t pass the review. We have already edited the lyrics and re-submitted it for review on December 2nd.”

“How Dare You” features lyrics about a confident woman pained by a former lover, and is a electronic rock fusion track produced by Brave Sound. The group is currently awaiting for their comeback set on December 3rd.

To Delay the Release.

Girl group SISTAR will be delaying the release of their third single due to the Yeonpyeong Island skirmish.

SISTAR was set to release their title track, “How Dare You“, for November 25th, but decided to delay it instead. A representative of Starship Entertainment revealed, “In consideration of the social atmosphere, we will be delaying the release of their single album. We ask for fans to understand this decision, and we will be updating later on with the altered release date.”

Sistar debuts in Thailand ^-^

SISTAR successfully completed their performance in Thailand and has turned on the green light for their Asian activities. On October 11th, SISTAR visited Thailand and had their debut performance. Recently, SISTAR has been selected as the promotional model for Thailand’s version of Korea’s Superstar K, Teen Superstar TV Show.
