There are two things, among many, that we really love.  The i Phone (or any little camera you have with you all the time) and The Best Camera App created by Chase Jarvis.  The whole idea behind the app is that the best camera is the camera you have with you………meaning  the best technology in the world isn’t going to do you a darn bit of good unless you have it with you when you see that super cool thing you absolutely must shoot.

I love the spontaneity and creativity both encourage.  Sometimes you need to be organized, structured and technical but sometimes you need to be loose.  Keep those creative juices flowing, whip out your phone, and take a pic.  It it that simple.  No pressure.  It might be crap or it just may be the coolest thing you’ve shot in a while but regardless of the photo you make, it keeps your eyes open.

The more you look at, make and participate in art, the more you want to look at, make and participate in art.  So, in the spirit of keeping it fresh and breeding creativity we are starting i Phone Friday’s.  Every Friday Peter and I will both post our favorite i Phone photo from the week.  Here is where you guys come in.

Die Firma Swype hat eine neue Schreibmöglichkeit für die  Touchscreens der Smarphones erfunden. Mit der Swype Tastatur, welche bereits ab dem 2. 12.09 im Samsung Omnia II eingesetzt wurde, bittet dem Besitzer die Möglichkeit Textnachrichten zu schreiben, ohne mit dem Finger zu tippen. Wie im Video ersichtlich gleitet man ganz einfach von Buchstabe zu Buchstabe.

As you probably know Adobe launched their new Photoshop  I phone app back at the beginning of October in the US and for some strange reason it is still not available in the UK

It was free on launch and hopefully it will be free for a period on the UK app store when they eventually get around to it but in the mean time there is a way to get it here too.

All you have to do is open a free US Itunes account, download the Photoshop app to your Itunes and then synch it to your phone from there. Easy enough but a bit more complicated then just buying it straight from the appstore on my phone. Why Adobe….WHY??????????

Once you’ve got it you will see some nifty little features although experienced Photoshop users might be looking for a wee bit more and don’t get me started on why you can’t upload straight to your social media from the app. Instead having to save to the camera roll, quit and then load Facebook, Twitter or whatever.

Maybe they are sorting that all out before the finally grace the UK market with it, who knows?

Today the good people at Spotify announced a Symbian version of their little beauty of a program. The press release on their website sites the importance of a Symbian model,

The application will also run on some of the more popular Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones, such as the Samsung GT-I8910 Omnia HD and Sony Ericsson Satio. Symbian is our third launch for Spotify Mobile, along with previously released iPhone and Android versions.

A new project set by cross labs is to create a new passport system for the i phone. The new passport needs to make use of all new capability of the digital world. So i started thinking about how much data that we all leave open for every one to see and collect on the net.

As a first quick experiment with data on the net i built a test 3D view of myself only using face book photos, the thing i am interested in is for what other purpose can we use the data people voluntarily put on the net, to build a more revealing image of them than actually they wished to display on the net.

We don’t know if watching TV on a 3.5-inch display is your bag, as it were, but it looks like Qualcomm is moving onward and upward with its plans for FLO TV on the iPhone. Not too many details at the moment, just some pics that Electricpig snapped of a handset running a proof-of-concept app that relys on an external device for reception, streaming re-runs of Mayberry R.F.D. to your handset via WiFi. No word yet on the when this device might actually go “prime time,” but with any luck the five pocket TV enthusiasts out there may someday be freed from the tyranny of the FLO TV Personal Television.

Adventure awaits and preparation begins. We leave next week for the American West. There are still a few Ts to cross and Is to dot. Gonna need gloves, jackets, sweathers and such to brave the elements.

The desert, I’m told, gets quite chilly at night.

A cell phone is also on my wish list, thanks to an unfortunate incident with the washing machine.

Today, the Doc gave me the go-ahead. Test results were vastly improved compared to when I returned from New York. There was no doubt, I had pushed myself too hard in the City and it showed — on paper and in person.

Months of rest and rehab along the World’s Most Beautiful Beaches restored my strength and I am ready to ride again.

“Dallas is a great city,” the Doc said. “You’re going to love it.”

The Doc’s office is undergoing some renovations. They are replacing the tile flooring with linoleum.

“It will be easier to clean,” the nurse said as she took my blood pressure.

The Doc has a son in college who wants to be a journalist. And like all young writers, he has dreams of New York.

The Doc is going back to school too, studying business online through the University of Massachusetts.

“Education is the key,” Goede told me during our brunch this week. “You don’t need a job, John, you need a career.”

Goede urged me to take the necessary steps to return to college before leaving on my Westward journey.

“Don’t put this off,” he said.

So I called one of the counselors at the community college and left a message on her voice mail about scheduling an appointment.

The Doc advised computers as a career path.

“Data,” he termed it.

Computers have evolved a lot since those days of playing “Oregon Trail” on the Apple back in high school. Now there are things like “apps” and “widgets” and “html” to learn.

Before leaving the newspaper I was just getting a handle on the I-Mac, specifically video-making. Journalists these days must be well-rounded. You write a story, take pictures and shoot video, or else you don’t get hired.

Yesterday I visited the AT&T store to look at the new I-phones. Very impressive equipment. A device that can pretty much do it all — phone calls, text messaging, photography, video, internet, even Facebook — this I-phone appears to be a revolutionary product.

If I am blessed to carry an I-phone on this trip my education will begin in earnest. Tomorrow night, I will meet Mr. Smith for a few cocktails downtown. We’ll go over the itinerary one final time before departure.

I can’t wait to see little Miss Dillan.

Spalmato sulla comoda o unica poltrona, nella pausa pubblicitaria del Chiambretti Night è passato lo spot, l’ultimo, della Nintendo DS. Programmi o applicazioni, per equità, a più non posso, simpatiche, utili e non.

Quella della quale raccontavo, è un’applicazione che tramite fotocamera fotografa scritte in Cinese da un menù di un ristorante, per l’appunto, cinese, traducendola nella lingua preferita. No male, mi piace. Non tanto per il cinese, al quale, comunque, capita di cedere, bensì per la praticità e utilità che rappresenta.

Poi c’è quella “Play whit Photos” che ti permette di modificare la tua immagine in differenti, particolari, davvero particolari modi. Ennesima delle più rare, un ottimo modo per inondare facebook di post-umane immagini nelle quali le corna te le puoi anche disegnare.

Ne cambiano le forme: un ibrido tra notebook e palmare – non lontano da altre simili tecnologie tanto di moda – che lo allontana dal mondo della pura console antenata, il Game boy, il mio verde.

E ancora musica, internet e tanto di browser shop.

Insomma questo vento non è certo nuovo, si è già, e continua, abbattuto l’uragano .app del i-Phone, che ha sparso applicazioni  – non capisco ancora come riesca a spegnersi la candela nel suscritto soffiandoci appunto su – per qualsiasi gusto, dalle trash – vedi quella per assomigliare a Lady Gaga – a quelle per cucinare e far musica. Il re degli smart phone.

Dall’altra parte l’indiscusso re delle console portatili.

Tesoro, I bambini ne andrebbero matti!

Dimanche 15 Novembre, 15h00, exposition « Ma terre » à la Cité des Sciences et de l’industrie.

Avant d’entrer, un I Phone est remis aux visiteurs qui dans le cadre d’une expérimentation (je vous décrirai laquelle juste quelques lignes plus loin) se prêtent au jeu et délivrent leurs impressions à la fin de leurs parcours. Je fais partie de ces personnes et je vais vous faire part de mes impressions. Mon témoignage est selon moi doublement intéressant : je peux réagir autant en tant que visiteur lambda (surtout que je n’avais jamais eu d’I Phone entre les mains), qu’en visiteur se voulant plutôt critique.

Première impression : il me faut 10 minutes pour prendre en mains l’outil, pendant ces dix minutes j’ai le nez vissé à mon écran…le plus triste, c’est que je l’utilise très facilement, le seul problème étant de changer d’application (puisque deux applications distinctes sont au cœur du dispositif observé).

Deuxième impression : même une fois habituée à l’outil que je trouve simple, ergonomique, intuitif et agréable à utiliser, je reste le nez collé à mon écran, je manipule et j’ai envie de tout voir/ lire, tout ce que propose l’I Phone, via ces deux applications, surtout la première, Musetrek qui m’invite à lire et surtout à zapper entre les différentes icônes qui mènent à d’autres « treks ».

Troisième impression : « Musetrek », quand j’ai entend cette expression, j’imagine un parcours bien balisé et d’une certaine longueur, or il e s’agit « que » d’étapes très courtes, mais très riches et intéressantes ceci dit.

Troisième impression : Je passe à l’autre application, la Sekkai Camera. Juste magique : j’ai le nez collé à mon écran mais l’I Phone est haut, face à mon regard et de ce fait, je peux voir l’expo physique réelle sans que l’écran ne s’accapare toute mon attention. Application très fluide, et efficace tant par son contenu que par la navigation pour le moins épurée : on se promène dans l’expo, et régulièrement des petites icônes apparaissent, on appuie dessus et le contenu textuel sonorisé apparait.

Si on compare les deux applications proposées, les deux se ressemblent beaucoup et on t le même objectif : apporter des informations complémentaires au visiteur, et lui donner le choix de profiter de tel ou tel contenu et pas de certains autres, ou de tous si il le désire.

La différence tient en pu de chose, mais est signifiante de toute une démarche de communication : Musetrek est un outil que le visiteur doit gérer, auquel il doit s’habituer et manipuler un minimum.
La Sekkai Camera, c’est différent : c’est l’outil qui s’adapte au visiteur, la démarche de personnalisation des contenus est toute différente puisqu’on n’est plus dans une dynamique de « zapping », mais plutôt de « zoom sur ». Cela change peu de chose au niveau de la stratégie mais la navigation et ses modalités débouchent sur une toute autre façon d’appréhender le dispositif numérique au sein de l’exposition.

Iar numarul curent din State vine cu o surpriza “techno” sarita de pe calapod, altfel nici nu ajungea la noi pe blog. E vorba de numarul care implica Augmented Reality. Si nu e promovat de o tipa cu sanii goi, ci, pentru veridicitate, oamenii au ales chiar pe redactorul sef sa se ocupe de asta.

Cum ce e aia “augmented reality”? E noua fitza, dar nu de Dorobanti ci, de Soho si Lower Manhattan, momentan. E o modalitate prin care userul poate interactiona cu brandul mai SF decat ti-ai putut imagina vreodata.

E folosita deja in multe aplicatii, si nu numai pe PC ci si pe I Phone. Despre ce poti face cu Esquire aici, iar despre AR in general aici. In caz ca va intrebati cum ar folosi asta in advertising, aici e un exemplu excelent.

Wenn man ein Lied hört und kurz mit dem Programm auf Aufnahme drückt, analysiert das Tool in 10 – 15 Sekunden um welches Lied es sich handelt, welcher Interpret, welcher Mix.

Das kann man doch oft gut brauchen?

The ground itself, newspapers, radio, television, internet… what is next in this significant line of possibilities to watch live-sport? The answer was introduced today and is not surprising at all: The mobile phone.

Today Sky and Apple announced that I-phone users will be able to follow live sport on their mobile phone with the help of an Apple store application. Now, sport fans do not have to go to the stadium or the pub, they do not even have to be at home.  The question is raised, where would you actually need this new possibility in a world where so much sport is already accessible.

The ordinary sport fan watches his sport(s) on TV and will make sure that he or she is in the right place for the actual event. The possibility that an important match will be missed, is very very rare. Also, there is no lack of public TVs or other possibilities on the internet to follow sport at al if the viewer has no access to the appropriate TV channel at home. But why getting Sky, a pay-TV channel, on your small mobile phone if you do not want Sky on the big 40-inch-TV in your living room? For Sky and Apple the answer is simple, they only want to make money. They know that there are millions of sport fans out there that want to have the possibility to watch live sport “just in case” they miss out on the first 2 minutes and 33 seconds on their way to the pub. An application for which they will have to pay more than £20 pound a month. We live in a world full of information and we think that we can not miss even seconds of sports or other important events and live-sport on the phone will make this feeling even worse. Less than five years ago, the only opportunity to watch sports was at home in front of the TV or in a public place. Then the internet gave us an additional possibility, now its the mobile phone.

It just proves that the media and technology wheel keeps on turning faster and faster, and many consumers do their best to increase the speed even more to simply signing up for every little detail. Now, I am just waiting for the first Facebook Status Message: “Just watched the Arsenal game on my phone”.
