Like I mentioned previously, Tarja Turunen (Known simply as ‘Tarja’ now) has an solo album out from 2007.  It’s titled My Winter Storm and it’s a fairly good album.  She even admits that this album, as well as her 2010 upcoming release, are more experimental in nature.  You can definitely tell because you get a few different styles on this album. Some things work and some don’t.

The first single from that album, I Walk Alone, has a more symphonic rock feel to it and I think it is probably the most marketable song on the album.  Die Alive is the second single and it’s a bit darker with a slightly more metal feel to it – I guess a little closer to something like Nemo by Nightwish.  Plus, she’s definitely looking good in the music video. It’s easily one of my favorite tracks.  The only other song on the album that brings the Nightwish style is Ciaran’s Well.  Don’t take that as me comparing it to Tuomas Holopainen’s music-writing abilities because I’m not; much like Tarja’s voice in Nightwish, Tuomas’s songwriting is practically irreplaceable.

Since Tarja is a classical singer by nature, many of the tracks showcase her voice more than anything.  I would highly recommend Lost Northern Star (My other favorite track), The Reign, My Little Phoenix, Oasis and Minor Heaven.  There is also a random cover of Alice Cooper’s Poison.  Every review I’ve read has said it’s terrible, but I find the original song to be almost intolerable, so hearing her sing it isn’t all that bad.  All in all, I must say it’s not really her style, though.  As I mentioned, she did admit that the album was experimental, so you can’t really fault it too much.

An extended edition of My Winter Storm was also released with some new tracks and a bunch of remixes.  Of the new tracks, I enjoy both Enough and The Seer.  There is also an album titled The Seer EP, which has all those remixes and songs except for Enough.

All in all, if you liked Nightwish and you were a fan of her vocals, I find it hard to believe you wouldn’t enjoy her solo work.  I’m definitely looking forward to What Lies Beneath in 2010! Here are some YouTube video embeds of the few music videos she’s released since Nightwish:

Today is a really dull day. It started off as me waking up 5 minutes before my alarm clock went off for me to get ready for work. I woke up at 5:55am it sucked hardcore because i wanted to sleep those extra 5 minutes. Lately, I’ve been feeling really really down about everything. I seem to be having issue after issue. First of all I’m really worried about my mom because lately she hasn’t been feeling really good and I love that women to death and I don’t wanna loose her. 2nd of all it’s like everybody is just trying to crap on me and i cant stand it. i dont really know how to explain it. I just feel really lonely. Yes i have a ton of issues I need to cope with. It’s all mixed up inside and i just dont know where to begin. I just need to get out of this damn town and kick out the bad people in my life and cherish the good people. Last night was really messed up that’s all I can say, it’s really hard to explain but lets just say when you think someone is your true friend and always there for you, they turn your back with a blink of an eye and they start bashing on your photos on facebook, this guy called me fat, insecure, etc etc i was pretty hurt im not gonna lie but none of that is true maybe insecure a little bit but who at my age isn’t ? he thinks he’s the shit..sorry you really aren’t nobody really likes you, i hear shit about you all the time but i was dumb enough to even defend you. all you want is to just get into my pants you dont really love me at all you never really did. i know you talked crap about me behind my back to my own boyfriend like he’s not gonna tell me :S right. i know you want me but your not gonna have me simple enough said im done with your shit.

anyways moving along. im pretty excited for tonight im going bowling with a bunch of my good friends that i love and care about the most. it’s gonna be a good night that’s for sure and nothing is going to bring me down not at this rate. i mean you cant break a already somewhat broken heartt. Chris<3 puts the pieces of my broken heart back together. I find it really rude what __ said about how i can do better. Reality check, Chris is a really good guy for me your just jealous because you can't have me. I can see it all over your face, you cant really hide your emotions from me you may deny it and try and hide it really well but you really cant. Chris is definatly a good guy he makes me the happiest girl i have ever been in my life and i'm so glad i've found that. i deserve it. I am a good person i dont throw around the word "love" loosely i make sure i actually feel it before i say it. whats the point in saying those 3 big words if you dont even mean it that totally bites and i would never do that.
Chris i love you so much, this passed month you've been here for me through everything you've seen me through my worst states of moods and your still sitting here with me today telling me how much you adore me and how you care for me. I really appreciate everything you've done for me and i'm sorry i haven't really gave it my all like i should. you deserve me your everything to me. I have a hard time expressing how i feel it will come in time. we're great for each other we have everything in common and i love it =) i couldn't of asked for anything better. Everybody loves you. your the guy for me and i hope we last a very long time because i need you in my life just as much as you need me. and dont forget chris im always here for you whenever you need me just ask.

Why does EVERYONE sais EVERYTHING his theirs ?! I have 3 video’s on Youtube (Go to my channel for more info…), and They all got rejected due to some copyright-issues ! WHY does Youtube let people upload video’s when they will disable the damn thing for sure ?! I had to change the audio on 3 of my video’s (For now though…) by using the AudioSwap-function on Youtube. You should think the songs they uploaded in the AudioSwap would be great, and you could choose every song you want, BUT NO ! It really sucks ! First, it needs to load for ages, and after that, you can choose some crappy songs (I guess they could get them for free…), replace it with your audio, and after that, wait for about 3-4 hours so Youtube can proces your video. And this is all due to the damn copyright-stuff !

And ofcourse, when you change audio, everyone who watches your video leaves a comment with things like “fuck you!!!”, “this r wrong song morans !!!!1ONE!” and things like that… I had to change audio at 3 video’s, one of them was a video I made with some pictures found on Google, called “Extremely Funny Pictures“. Another one was Green Day – Holiday … And another one Green Day – Boulevard of Broken Dreams.

So now you’ll ask, who was this bitch ? It was WMG

The Bravery, self-titled

Most people know The Bravery from the airplay their song “Believe” received. Now don’t get me wrong: I like that song just as much as anyone else (in a very “I Walk Alone” is my teen anthem kinda way), but I think it’s time to take a little deeper look at the band (ie. listen to a different song).

One of my personal favorites is the very Killers-esque (or so my boyfriend tells me) “Honest Mistake.” Every time it plays in my car, I absolutely have to dance in my seat (or my mind, depending who’s in the car).

A song I play when I am feeling particularly stagnant is “Give In.” If the lines “All I want is everything/everything that I’ll ever be/all I want is everything/everything that’s coming for me/nothing happens and everything is changed/all I want is everything to stay the same” don’t get ya, you’re not a human.

Another song with simple yet poignant lyrics is “Unconditional.” With the chorus “I just want, I just want love,” it’s completely relatable (admit it, if love came to your doorstep today, you wouldn’t deny it..that’s right).

Finally, one of my favorite Bravery songs during my stay in France: “Swollen Summer.” Don’t ask questions, just rock out with me.

All in all, a very satisfying electronica-rock band. Check them out.

El martes pasado fuimos varios amigos a ver a Nightwish en la sala Santana27, en Bilbao.

El concierto de Nightwish estaba precedido por el grupo PAIN, y a los que conocemos a Nightwish desde sus comienzos, ese concierto nos supo a poco, siempre faltaba esa voz que lo cubría todo, y ahora hay que conformarse con la voz de Annette Olzon, que no es mala, pero no es para los registros de los anteriores discos de la banda, y se nota que no llega nunca, aparte de tener un tono mucho más agudo, que no vale para muchas de las canciones que antes cantaba Tarja Turunen, y que al haber estudiado canto domina su voz, pudiendo hacer con ella casi lo que quiere. Por esto, y por su presencia en el escenario, Annette nos sabe a poco y nos entristece.

A la nueva cantante le faltan tablas para llevar bien al público, tener porte sobre las tablas, y no parecer que estamos en un concierto de pop, en vez de uno de metal. Le falta garra, algo de mala leche e ingenio a la hora de dirigirse hacia el público.

Esperemos que con los años la chica se ponga al nivel del resto de los miembros de la banda.

Bueno pasemos a lo que nos importa.

Tarja comenzó el pasado año una pequeña gira de preparación (se llamaba Warm Up, que como los aficionados a las carreras saben, es calentamiento) de la gira mundial. Uno de estos conciertos fue grabado y subidas las grabaciones a youtube. Las canciones del show “Warm Up Concerts 2007” fueron grabadas el 8 de diciembre en Kuusankoski, Finlandia.

La formación que la acompañó (y acompañará en la gira mundial) se conoció en estos conciertos del año pasado, contando con instrumentistas variados de todos los estilos, pero mucho peso, destacar esa batería con Terrana a las baquetas y el cello de Max:

• Guitarras: Alex Scholpp (ex-Farmer Boys)

La banda finesa Passionworks [su MySpace] se unirá a Tarja en esta gira en un gran número de conciertos.

Aun no hay fechas fijadas para tocar por estos lares, pero seguiremos atentos a la espera de estas tan deseadas fechas. Esperemos que nos brinde con su presencia por el norte, para poder ir a verla sin muchas complicaciones.

Estos son los vídeos de las canciones que se grabaron en el concierto anteriormente mencionado. Entre paréntesis indico en algunas canciones (Nightwish), no es por que sean de ellos, sino por que ella ya las cantaba con el grupo, ya que eran versiones de canciones compuestas por otras personas, por eso ella las canta, no creo que Nightwish este por ahora en la labor de dejarle cantar sus canciones, pero seguro que los seguidores y fans lo agradecíamos.

 Lange musste ich auf diesen Tag warten ! 

 Seit gestern ist endlich das erste Soloalbum von Tarja Turunen erhältlich.
Es heisst “My Winterstorm” und wie immer habe ich mir die Edition gegönnt, und es auch wirklich nicht bereut. Prallgefüllt mit 21 Songs und einer randvollen DVD befindet sich die beiden Scheiben in einem wunderschönen Pappeinband. Ein dickes Booklet mit vielen tollen Fotos liegt der CD auch bei.

 
Kommen wir aber zum wichtigsten Punkt bei einem Album – zur Musik
Tarja sagt selbst, dass dieses Album sehr persönlich ist. Das merkt man sofort. Viele Songs berühren den Hörer schon beim ersten reinhören. Gefühlvolle orchestrale Sounds, gepaart mit Tarjas aussergewöhnlichen Stimme, erinnern an mystische Orte und magische Persönlichkeiten.  Besonders gefallen mir die “härteren” Songs auf dem Album, Tarja wirkt bei diesen so kraftvoll, als ob ihre Power keine Grenzen kennt. Die E-Gitarren wummern nur so durch den Song und das kraftvolle Orchester betont die rasanten Züge der Songs zusätzlich, über allem herrscht Tarja. Sie dominiert die Musik, sie ist der Songs.. grandios Die Bonus DVD ist auch wirklich eine Bonus DVD und nicht nur ein Vermarktungs-Gag.Auf der DVD befinden sich 2 Videoversionen der ersten Singleauskopplung ” I Walk Alone”, ein Making of the Video, und ein Making of the Album.Die Making Ofs sind super geschnitten und mit Musik von dem Album untermalt. Tarja wirkt sehr ausgeglichen und wie immer sympathisch.Das Album ist eine WUCHT; Tarja ist alleine besser als je zuvor mit Nightwish
