Zeitkapsel is German and means time capsule.

For those of you interested in the development of a musical work over time:
it has been recorded live as a stereo feed (Stella’s vocals, Stella’s Kaossilator, PJ’s guitar plus the backing tracks) at a rehearsal on the island of Ibiza on October 14th 2009.

In my opinion the backing track is way too soft but the whole recording has a nice feel.

Trawling through the rubbish – has it come to that already?

One of our favourite spontaneous pastimes is spotting something interesting lurking discarded by the rubbish bins.  It could be anything; an old rickerty wicker chair, moth eaten clothes, rusty childrens bikes, but to name a few of the items we discovered and left for other foregers.  Our own treasure finds have included a modern oil painting, a large 30’s mirror decorated with ornate brown glass, numerous pictures, a 30’s trolly table and a spiral Ikea type bookshelf!  All free just waiting to be picked up and claimed by new owners to give them another chance of life.

I could open a shop!

This unusual but interesting hobby was passed on to us by a fellow island rubbish trawler, thanks Ana!  We also found a bag full of 30 or so vintage ties all designer label’s; Christian Dior, Valentino etc but the most unusual thing about the discovey was the fact that they were all black!  Maybe the cast offs of a local undertaker or a smartly dressed business man with a penchant for black ties?  After pondering what to do with them – leave them or take them?  We took them, not for us but for a gift, for a new friend who owns Lottie Bogotti vintage shop in San Carlos.  OK they were a little musty smelling and the one Toby chose to keep for himself did have stains on the front but a quick wipe over with warm soapy water and hey presto like new again.  Toby just needs an occasion to wear it…

No two parties are ever the same at Ibiza, and since the promoter of one club can basically be the booker of a specific DJ, you can switch Ibiza clubs and still enjoy a wonderful night wherever you end up. And if you are in a clubbing mood, you can always venture at any of the music bars of Ibiza, which somehow resemble an 80’s disco lounge. A great place to listen to music, chat to friends and dance, without the hectic atmosphere of the most popular Ibiza nightclubs.

One of Ibiza’s most famous nightclubs is the “Privilege”, located half way between Ibiza and San Antonio you will not be able to miss it because it has a big bulky construction, and eye catching lights it definitely is the place to visit when you are in Ibiza, though probably not the only nightclub that you will visit.

One of the most sought after nightclubs in Ibiza is El Divino, due to the very select audience; with a 1500 tourist capacity it is a wonderful place to spend the night in celebration while enjoying the warm sea breeze. El Divino is located right on the harbour making it accessible by boat!

There is no way anyone could depict the incredibly wonderful ambiance that Ibiza has to offer in terms of nightclubs, the only thing to do is to recommend everyone to visit and stay, at the very least, two weeks and experience the sensational ambiance for themselves.

Don’t let the chic bistro vibe fool you. Food here is ridiculously cheap. Huge hunks of lamb, fillets of fish and hearty paellas all for around €6 a plate.

Just off the West End, Jamal’s has a winning combination of classy looks, great food and alluringly low prices. It’s been voted the worker’s favourite restaurant.

Chill Café has internet, printers and a fax machine, making this the perfect spot to sort yourself out if you’re looking for work or want to catch up with folks at home. Great coffee, homemade baked goods, vast bocadillos, quiche and salads.

A clarification.
 
I wasn’t describing people who play computer games as “utter sad twats” in the blog last week – it was aimed at those who queued at midnight when the new ‘Call of Duty’ game was released in the shops.
 
Couldn’t you wait until lunchtime the next day? Or the next week? Or wait to get it as a Christmas present? Did you really have to have it there and then, race home and get playing at 1am in the morning?
 
Well it appears that many people did. I personally find that extremely sad – just my opinion.

So how was Dr Who for you then?
 
I think the ‘Waters of Mars’ special on Sunday was one of the best since the show returned in 2005. They could, perhaps, have trimmed it down to 50 minutes to make it tighter but that would be the only tiny criticism.
 
I was sat on my sofa transfixed by a thrilling plot and cracking dialogue, not knowing how they’d get to the end and set up David Tennant’s final two shows.
 
It was a real shock to the system when The Doctor turned into a megalomaniac which certainly didn’t sit comfortably with how he’d operated before. I thought Adelaide was going to shoot him. Then it twisted back again as she killed herself and Tennant produced a couple of minutes of inspired acting, facing the Ood, fearing his song was going to end there and then.
 
I like Dr Who because it combines drama, comedy, emotion, underlying subtexts, plot arcs which stretch over different series, subtle nods to the past and there is that quintessentially English feel about it.
 
You can probably tell that I’m quite looking forward to the Christmas and New Year episodes…

Thanks to everyone for their feedback about the blog last week especially with regard to ‘The Sperminator’ aka the shag-happy Telford internet love-rat. Most people agreed with my assertion that while he was obviously a reckless twat, the gullible women involved also lacked responsibility.
 
The Princess Diana joke raised an eyebrow or two (come on, it’s 12 years since she died, let’s get over it, none of us knew her personally…) and this was my favourite message: “Bad taste about Diana – but I nearly pissed myself laughing.”

There were a couple of army guys in Cats on Saturday in full military uniform. They’d been to a wedding, I think. One had ginger hair and I pointed him out via the microphone.
 
“Ladies and gentleman, Prince Harry is here.”
 
I probably shouldn’t have followed up with: “How’s your mum? Oh shit, sorry.”

Would you?  I’m really not sure whether many people would swap a big house on a gorgeous gated golf course, fancy cars, luxury travel and champagne parties for a rented apartment, battered old car and very simple lifestyle.  Would you?

Our Big House!

Well we did!  Yes we’ve gone from spending £100,000 a year on wining, dining, expensive clothes and anything we wanted really to spending £10,000 a year travelling Latin America on a budget and now living a very simple life on Ibiza.

Are we happier for it?  The answer is yes.  We get to do what we want when we want.  This isn’t retirement this is a lifestyle choice.

Luxury living with all the stresses and strains of managing a company and all it’s people, the pressures of responsibility, meetings, appointments and deadlines, not to mention the large wedge of time spent working every week like a dog. V’s  A simplistic lifestyle of relaxation, working ( if thats what you call it! ) a few hours a day, a few days a week spending time doing stuff we enjoy, taking time out to walk in the beautiful campo amongst nature or laze on the beach in the sun and enjoy simple home cooked healthy meals.

For us this really isn’t a difficult decision to make.  We have our needs met.  We have a home, we have transport, we have money to live, we have friends but most importantly we have time.  No getting up at 6.30 am every morning.  No alarm!  No sitting in traffic jams on the motorway.  No motorway!  No rushing to get to an appointment or meeting on time.  No rushing at all…this is Ibiza.

I’m now blogging from Ibiza, my home, and feeling spiritually energised from the abundance of quartz that lies at the core of this beautiful island. That means more blogs, more happiness information and more quality.

Living here on this special white isle is a dream fulfilled for hubby and I.  I want to share some of this happiness with you and help you to get on track and fulfill your own dreams too.  I am working on my first online Chasing Happiness programme at the moment, I’m very excited at the content and soooooo eager to get it out there to anyone that wants it for FREE.  So watch this space I should have it uploaded in a few days…
