La semana pasada, uno de nuestros lectores nos preguntó cuándo volvería nuestro país a formar parte de la ICCO, la Organización Internacional del Cacao y Chocolate.  Desde hace varias semanas, APPCACAO está realizando una serie de gestiones  para lograr  esta reincorporación, y así fortalecer nuestra competitividad en otros mercados. Zara Saavedra,  responsable de Calidad de APPCACAO, tiene los detalles de estas negociaciones.

Una de las actividades que se realiza paralelamente a la reincorporación del Perú a la ICCO, es la constitución del Consejo nacional del Cacao y Chocolate. La próxima semana, más detalles sobre este nuevo organismo. Y si tiene preguntas, sugerencias o críticas, deje sus comentarios. Pronto le responderemos.

In early 2007, ICCO and partners in its alliance launched an ambitious project to encourage communication and knowledge sharing to enhance learning and development effectiveness. The project has grown into its own identity – ComPart, or ‘communication with partners.’ The project aims to blend a set of communication tools with ongoing organizational changes, engaging partners across and Alliance and in the South in open learning environments.

There I was, as I am, with my true name. I ordered, I said my name. I was asked how to spell it, I spelt it, and three letters latter I was asked whether they can put my order onto a friend’s list. What is the point of asking for peoples’ name which as I discovered many are reluctant to give if they cannot spell or pronounce 85% of them? Whey don’t they just assign people random three-digit numbers?

I suppose this would just be too hard for an average brain to remember.

The words knowledge, learning and networking are used on nearly every page in the ICCO Alliance new business plan. The plan envisages a renewed and transformed ICCO in which the organization and other partners become a global alliance with decentralized operations across the world. It is expected that many activities will be designed and managed through regional ‘councils’ in developing regions and that some activities now managed in the Netherlands will be based in the South. This change poses a series of significant information, knowledge-sharing and communication challenges to the alliance, particularly to enhance internal and ‘network’ capacities in these areas.
