<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Navegando por YouTube, me encontre este trailer de la próxima secuela del juego para celulares publicado por <em>EA mobile</em>, <strong>Doom RPG</strong>. Este juego trata de revivir la fórmula del Doom original, sólo que el modo de juego es por turnos pero sigue la misma esencia.</p>
<p>Esta nueva secuela utilizará los mismos gráficos que manejo el <em>Wolfenstein RPG</em>, o sea enemigos en 2D pero mundos completamente en 3D. El juego, verdaderamente se ve espectacular.</p>
<p>El juego no ha sido liberado oficialmente (solamente había sido presentada la propuesta en el pasado <strong>Quakecon</strong>) pero según comentarios, este video fue subido por uno de los colaboradores de EA sin previa autorización&#8230;así que aquí se los dejó:<br />

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Hace pocos años, Id Software revolucionó el desarrollo de los videojuegos, especialmente los FPS o First Person Shooters, con su &#8220;remake&#8221; del el padre los videojuegos de pistolitas, DooM 3, un replanteamiento de sus anteriores entregas, Doom, Final Doom, Ultimate Doom y Doom II. Este ancestro, creado por John Carmack, fue el puntapié inicial para una serie de videojuegos que &#8220;literalmente&#8221; se basan en el marine que se dirige a marte en una misión de ¿rescate?, donde en realidad tu unico objetivo es salir vivo de la estación, por diferentes niveles, y donde al final terminas en el mismo infierno. Doom fue un juego bastante sencillo, la historia la misma cuestión, tu eres un soldado, con un arsenal de armas a tus disposición, desde una sierra electrica, hasta un lanzacohetes, y la archiconocida BFG9000 (traducida como Big Fucking Gun o Big Force Gun o Bio Force Gun, por lo que he leido). Tenias que buscar las tipicas tarjetas de colores para abrir ciertas puertas, empujar las paredes para ver si habian habitaciones secretas, matar a zombies con escopetas, etc. En fin, Doom fue la revolucion es los noventas, un nuevo concepto en videojuegos.</p>
<p>Pasados los años, Id Software se propuso denuevo cambiar el concepto de los videojuegos FPS, esta vez, con el mismo producto, el más exitoso, transformarlo totalmente pero sin perder la esencia original. asi el 3 de agosto de 2004 nace <strong>DooM 3</strong>, la nueva revolución de los videojuegos.</p>
<p>Doom 3 fue un juegazo, aunque para Id, no cumplió las expectativas esperadas, el game engine id Tech 4 sirvió para otras entregas, como Quake 4 y Prey. El juego recibió criticas por su lentitud, el modo multiplayer cooperativo que solo venia en la version Xbox y no la de PC, movimientos limitados, entre otras cosillas, pero para mí, es un juego genial, donde en muchas ocaciones me asuste demasiado, incluso con la demo.</p>
<p>Ahora, Id Software prepara su nueva entrega, Doom 4, que no pretende ser otra reinvención de la saga ni una continuación de Doom 3, la verdad es que ha sido poca la información que ha visto la luz, salvo esta imagen:</p>

The first-person shooter and racing game is still undated, though a 2010 release seems likely (it was announced in 2007).</p>
<p>When id Software, creators of seminal PC shooters, decide that dedicated servers are a thing of the past, it seems as though the industry may continue to move in that direction. <em>Modern Warfare 2</em> <a title="BHGamer - Modern Warfare 2 PC lacks dedicated servers, no delay - but backlash begins" href="http://bhgamer.wordpress.com/2009/10/18/modern-warfare-2-pc-lacks-dedicated-servers-no-delay-but-backlash-begins/" target="_blank">notoriously</a> lacks the option, which Carmack has claimed to be a relief, as id &#8220;won&#8217;t have to be a pioneer on that&#8221;.</p>

<title><![CDATA["Quake II" Demo Impressions]]></title>

<p><em>Quake II</em>? As in the one that came out in 1997? You&#8217;d better believe it. People probably aren&#8217;t buying <em>Quake II</em> anymore, but I still want to put my impressions of the demo up&#8230; just because.</p>
<p>So, first off, why did I bother to play the <em>Quake II</em> PC demo? Well, I saw it on Steam today and thought I&#8217;d give it a look. I&#8217;ve been reading a book lately about id Software, and the <em>Quake</em> series is one of the things they are most famous for. <a href="http://www.quakelive.com/"><em>Quake Live</em></a>, the free-to-play, multiplayer-only browser adaptation of the series is the only <em>Quake </em>game I had played, and I wanted to change that with this demo.</p>
<p>My immediate impressions were, &#8220;Seriously? <em>These</em> are the graphics?&#8221; Everything had a very pixelated look, even though all the environments and characters were in total 3D. The next thing I noticed were the controls&#8230; specifically how the arrow keys were used to move and W, A, S, and D did nothing. At first I couldn&#8217;t find a way to look up or down, so I assumed <em>Quake II</em> would be like <em>Doom</em>, where your shots hit enemies as long as you directly face them, regardless of their elevation. That thought got thrown out the window as soon as some demented looking thing started shooting at me from below a staircase, and my shots aimed towards it but not directly at it did nothing. So, messing around in the options menu, I turned on the &#8220;free aim&#8221; (why exactly would that not always be on?) and changed the button configuration to match my preference &#8211; specifically, using W and S to move and A and D to strafe.</p>
<p>Now that I could finally navigate the game, I could actually focus on the action at hand. The demo consisted of only one level (not counting the multiplayer portion; I tried to find a server to log on to, but of course I didn&#8217;t find one) split up into a few different sections. The location was standard id affair &#8211; a base on some distant planet overrun with demonic, heavily armed bad guys. I couldn&#8217;t tell exactly what the story was despite a staticy radio voice buzzing in my ear the whole time, but I did appreciate the atmosphere the ambient noises created. I never felt scared or anything like that, but there was a sense of being in only a small part of a larger conflict, as distant explosions could be heard in the background.</p>
<p>The guns were cool, but some felt a little overpowered. At the beginning each enemy posed a threat because I had nothing but a pistol, but once I started finding things like the chaingun and the super shotgun, everybody took just one or two hits before exploding into bloody, 1997-quality gibs. Even the boss at the very end went down easily, so I can&#8217;t help but wonder whether all the weapons in the demo were put there just so people could see what was available in the real game, or if they are really supposed to be there. If the latter is true, then <em>Quake II</em>&#8217;s main challenge comes from simply trying to find out where to go next. I had a couple times where I was confused, but ultimately I was able to find the right path, so in the demo at least, navigation isn&#8217;t too much of an issue for <em>Quake II</em>.</p>
<p>When I reached the end after about 20 minutes, I immediately uninstalled the demo. It wasn&#8217;t bad, but it was dated. I certainly wasn&#8217;t going to go back to it time and time again, anyway. If you&#8217;re interested in retro 3D shooters as I am at the moment, go ahead and download the demo from Steam or some other place on the internet. For those wishing to stick to a better version of <em>Quake</em>, I say go play <a href="http://www.quakelive.com/"><em>Quake Live</em>.</a></p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="text-align:justify;">Rok po tym kiedy tysiące graczy zawzięcie eliminowało ss&#8217;mańskie szwadrony w Wolfenstein 3D twórcy tej gry, firma id Software z Johnem Romero na czele, ogłosiła premierę gry niesłychanie do Wolfa podobnej. Tyle, że tym razem zamiast przemierzać nazistowskie komnaty przyszło nam poruszać się w kosmicznej scenerii, a naszym celem nie byli uzbrojeni po zęby aryjczycy, a potworki  wprost z najniższego poziomu piekieł. Oto Doom.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><strong>Marine bez dowodu osobistego</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Niestety jądrem fabuły Dooma, przynajmniej w jej długim wstępie, nie jest &#8211; tak jak to było w Wolfenstenie 3D &#8211; nasz bohater. To <img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-475" title="Whuaa... zobacz jaki jestem niedobry" src="http://retrokadabra.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/whuaa-zobacz-jaki-jestem-niedobry.png?w=300" alt="Whuaa... zobacz jaki jestem niedobry" width="300" height="225" />tylko mały trybik w wielkiej korporacyjnej maszynie Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC), który jest tak mało ważny, że w rzeczywistości nie posiada nawet imienia (fani ochrzcili go jako Doomguy).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Cała historia ma miejsce w trudnej do zidentyfikowania przyszłości. Bez wątpienia jest to okres wielkich odkryć bowiem przebiegła rasa ziemian zdążyła już okiełznać Marsa, a nawet utworzyć dla niego dwa sztuczne księżyce: Phobos i Deimos. Naturalnie jakiekolwiek działania UAC są zaprzeczeniem idei &#8220;pro publico bono&#8221;. Wszak jest to firma wzorowana choćby na tej z czasów pierwszego Obcego, a więc z wyrachowanym szefostwem, które w imię najdziwniejszych eksperymentów i największych poświęceń chcę osiągać swoje cele.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">We właściwiej historii pierwszego Dooma UAC otrzymało zlecenie od ścisłego kierownictwa wojska, polegające na zbadaniu możliwości tzw. wrót międzywymiarowych. Rezolutni panowie w doktorskich fatałaszkach przystąpili do swojego celu, a funkcjonalność rzeczonych wrót postanowili sprawdzać przenosząc różne drobiazgi pomiędzy Phobos i Deimos.<!--more--></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Niestety eksperyment w pewnym momencie załamał się. Za pośrednictwem wrót pomiędzy Phobos, a Deimos nie wędrowały już przedmioty wrzucane przez sieć naukową UAC, a&#8230; kreatury z piekła rodem. Ich pochodzenie nie zostało zidentyfikowane, bo owe bestyje natychmiast opanowały Phobos nie tyle mordując personel, co zamieniając go w zombie.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Dopiero w tym momencie wkracza gracz, międzyplanetarny marine, słynny&#8230; doomguy <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> .</p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><strong>Z piłą łańcuchową pod ręką</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Marine będący pod naszą kontrolą wyruszył na trudną misję mającą na celu penetrację Phobos i ewentualną eksterminację jej niespodziewanych mieszkańców. O jego przeszłości wiadomo tyle, że służył kiedyś w elitarnej jednostce komandosów, ale w pewnym momencie jego kariera załamała się i został wysłany na Marsa. Nie bez powodu, bo w ramach kary za niewykonanie rozkazu swojego zwierzchnika i wytłumaczenie mu ręcznie czemu nie chciał tego zrobić. Świadczy to o dobrym charakterze naszego bohatera bowiem rozkaz polegał na pacyfikacji niewinnych ludzi.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Niemniej wcale niewinnie nie wygląda nasz arsenał. Doomguy do dyspozycji będzie miał ośiem rodzajów broni, no dobrze&#8230; siedem rodzajów broni i wysoką umiejętność w posługiwaniu się pięścią. Właśnie łomot spuszczany ręcznie to podstawowa &#8220;broń&#8221; Doomguy&#8217;a, ale poza tym w jego ekwipunku znajdą się jeszcze piła łańcuchowa (miazga!), podręczny pistolet, klasyczny otwieracz <img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-476" title="Lecę na premierę nowej Piły!" src="http://retrokadabra.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/lece-na-premiere-nowej-pily.jpg?w=300" alt="Lecę na premierę nowej Piły!" width="300" height="225" />drzwi do stodoły czyli dubeltówka, bardzo efektywny karabin maszynowy, wyrzutnia rakiet, pistolet plazmowy i&#8230; BFG w wersji 9000 (czyt. Zajebiście Duża Broń) skuteczna przede wszystkim przeciw molom i owadom (możliwe, że dobra też na wszy i gnidy).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Pełen wachlarz naszego uzbrojenia będziemy mogli wykorzystać na trzech dużych etapach: Knee-Deep in the Dead, The Shores of Hell i Inferno. Każdy z nich zawiera po ośiem poziomów (plus po jednym dodatkowym do odkrycia), a na końcu każdego z  nich przyjdzie nam stanąć oko w oko z napakowanymi bossami, odpowiednio z: baronami piekieł, cyberdemonem i dalekim krewnym Spider-Mana czyli Spiderdemonem.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Jednak aby dojść do każdego z nich, po drodze będziemy musieli rozprawić się z naszymi dawnymi sojusznikami przemienionymi w zombie oraz z całkiem pokaźną świtą stworzeń z piekła rodem. Pierwsza grupa nie stanowi większego problemu, najsilniejsi z nich wyposażeni są w dubeltówki, ale w pojedynczych starciach padają jak muchy. Trudniej jest gdy przyjdzie nam stanąć oko w oko z chochlikami, demonami, widmami, sympatycznymi kłębiastymi demonami <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  i zagubionymi duszyczkami. Ich poziom zaangażowania w walkę i wyjątkowej upierdliwości jest naprawdę wysoki.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Ułatwieniem do rozgrywki będą liczne &#8220;przypadkowo&#8221; porozrzucane przedmioty, jak to w FPS-ach bywa: apteczki, pancerze, broń, amunicja, klucze, itd. Zaś  samą rozgrywkę będziemy mogli rozpocząć na jednym spośród pięciu poziomów trudności: &#8220;I&#8217;m too young to die&#8221;, &#8220;Hey, not too rough&#8221;, &#8220;Hurt me plenty&#8221;, &#8220;Ultra-violence&#8221; i &#8220;Nightmare&#8221;. Do wyboru, do koloru.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><strong>Heavy metalowe tło </strong></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Wartość wizualna pierwszego Dooma (zresztą drugiego też <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> ) została przyjęta całkiem gorąco, szczególnie w odniesieniu do wspominanego we wstępie Wolfensteina 3D. Oko gracza porównując te dwie gry być może dostrzeże większą ilość dynamicznych animacji i bogatszą paletę kolorów, ale według mnie nie są to jakieś diametralne różnice.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Za muzykę do gry odpowiedzialny jest Robert Prince aka Bobby Prince. Ten sam, który napisał muzykę do Wolfensteina 3d. <img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-477" title="Masakra na czerwonej planecie" src="http://retrokadabra.wordpress.com/files/2009/10/czerwonka.png?w=300" alt="Masakra na czerwonej planecie" width="300" height="225" />Znamienne jest, że to właśnie muzyka do Dooma przyniosła mu dużą popularność, ale nie powinno to dziwić gdyż soundtrack do Dooma inspirowany jest twórczością takich zespołów jak Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer czy Pantera, a więc musi być mięsisty i dynamiczny. Dodatkowo na jego plus przemawia fakt, że w grze zapisany jest w lepszej wersji formatu MIDI, tak zwanym MUS.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Doom jako klasyk gatunku spod ręki Johna Romero nie wymaga specjalnej rekomendacji. Tytuł ten powinien zachwycić przede wszystkim fanów kosmicznych wojaży, ale i po tę pozycję powinni sięgnąć też pasjonaci Wolfensteina 3d, Blooda, Duke Nukem 3d czy Shadow Warrior, a więc kwintesencji FPS-ów z lat 90-tych (dużo strzelania, dużo krwi, dużo broni, dużo przeciwników).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Gra doczekała się jeszcze kontyunacji pod postacią drugiej części z 1994 roku i trzeciej części z 2004 roku, wielu modyfikacji i dodatków. Myślę, że aby zacząć przygodę z tym klimatem odpowiednie jest sięgnięcie po pierwszą częśc.</p>

Eίχε κυκλοφορήσει το 1992 και κατάφερε να εθίσει την πλειοψηφία των PC users για τα χρόνια που ακολούθησαν. Το 2001, βγήκε στην αγορά ένα remake στο οποίο η id Software είχε απλά ρόλο επόπτη, μιας και το project ανέλαβε η <a class="zem_slink" title="Gray Matter Interactive" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_Matter_Interactive">Gray Matter Interactive</a>. <p><strong>DOOM</strong> dürfte wohl jeder kennen, auch wenn er nie im Besitz eines PCs war.  <strong><a href="http://www.silvergames.com/game/doom/">DOOM I</a></strong> wurde 1993 von <strong><a href="http://www.idsoftware.com/">id Software</a></strong> entwickelt und löste einen gewaltigen Sprung in der Entwicklung von Spielen aus. Plötzlich waren nicht nur 2-dimensionale Perspektiven möglich, wie sie in diversen Jump-N-Run und anderen Shootern üblich waren. Nein, nun kam die 3. Dimension dazu und forderte die damals meist unterforderten Prozessoren plötzlich gewaltig.</p>
<p>Tagelange Netzwerk-Sessions waren plötzlich an der Tagesordnung und der ein oder andere verlor sich noch viel länger in den weitläufigen Leveln von <strong>DOOM II</strong>.</p>
<p>Auch heute hat DOOM wenig von seiner Aura eingebüßt, was eine Reihe von Flashgames beweist, die das Spiel in irgendeiner Weise als Inspiration genutzt haben.  <strong><a href="http://www.silvergames.com/game/flash-doom-2d/">Flash DOOM</a> </strong>2D z.B. downgradet  den Shooter zurück in die 2-Dimensionalität und mit <strong><a href="http://www.silvergames.com/game/doom-triple-pack/">DOOM Triple Pack</a></strong> kommen neben Version 1 des beliebten Endzeitspiels zusätzlich die Veteranen  Hexen und Heretic zurück.</p>

<p>Is this even close to being realistic? No, because of multiple reasons.</p>
<p>You can check out the list of impact risks maintained by NASA <a href="http://neo.jpl.nasa.gov/risk/">here</a>.</p>
<p>Apophis is zero on the Torino scale. The Torino scale is a balanced impact risk number, from zero to ten. There&#8217;s one one on the list at the time of writing. Apophis also has a 270 meter estimated diameter and not a very high velocity, 6 km/s.</p>
<p>We can use the impact effects calculator <a href="http://www.lpl.arizona.edu/impacteffects/">here</a> for some gauging of what would happen. Even if we assumed it to be dense rock and the impact velocity to be 17 km/s, there wouldn&#8217;t be that huge effects (although they could be big locally).</p>
<p>Assuming it hits the ground, at 300 km distance from the impact site you would get a mild earthquake, and a sound as loud as heavy traffic. At 100 km you&#8217;d get a stronger earthquake, 6.7 on the Richer scale, and the fireball would be 4 times as bright as the sun. (Still probably no direct skin burns). You would get some sparse gravel ejecta at 100 km which means you wouldn&#8217;t want to be outside, but only very little dust ejecta at 300 km.</p>
<p>The main takeaway message is that since the asteroid is so small, the damage would not be widespread. You could not really destroy even two large cities with one. Hence no apocalypse.</p>
<p>If it hit the sea (likely), it could create a tsunami, and that could generate more damage to humans, depending on where it struck (this I don&#8217;t know very well), but the Atlantic, Indian Ocean and China Sea are probably very bad. The 2004 Tsunamis triggered by an undersea earthquake killed over 200,000 people.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s still very much worth observing and developing technology to prevent large asteroid strikes. It&#8217;s just that the public doesn&#8217;t seem to have any handle on what the effects are like.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">El juego cumple adecuadamente, pero me ha dado la sensación de que podría haberse mejorado bastante más y llegar a ser uno de los exponentes del género (exponente dentro de los posibles juegos a combatir a los &#8216;big boss&#8217; de la tabla, véase CoD: MW).</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">En un punto y aparte destacar la faceta online, pero no para bien, sino para mal. El juego, tras probar 17 partidas, no me ha dejado jugar una sola sin lag (en la versión para PS3; la de PC sin problemas). Es una pena porque tenía ganas de ver el multijugador de Wolfenstein, ya que aunque contase con los modos tradicionales, siempre queda la curiosidad de cómo es usar los poderes en el modo multijugador.</p>

<p>Nos últimos tempos, a industria dos games está gostando mesmo de debater, e o principal assunto é a publicidade dentro de videogames, mas um estudo abalou todas as opiniões, não a minha. Um grupo de investigadores da <strong><span style="color:#99cc00;">Europa e América </span></strong>chegaram a uma conclusão que pra mim é até lógica, a conclusão deles foram de que os jogadores, nós no caso, se lembram muito mais da publicidade de jogos violentos do que de jogos sem qualquer violência. Mas tenho que admitir que as vezes isso é superado, um exemplo <strong><span style="color:#99cc00;">Little Big Planet</span></strong>, veja o sucesso que ele faz sem qualquer violência.</p>
<p>Para chegarem a estes resultados, vários investigadores da <strong><span style="color:#99cc00;">Universidade de Luxemburgo</span></strong> criaram um jogo chamado <strong><span style="color:#99cc00;">AdRacer</span> </strong>que colocava os jogadores para atingirem letreiros publicitários. Existia uma versão violenta desse mesmo jogo onde os jogadores atropelavam peões enquanto o vidro do carro ficava coberto de sangue. Assim que terminavam, os jogadores lembravam-se melhor das publicidades da versão violenta do jogo, ou seja, todo mundo saia de lá com a mente um pouco pertubada.</p>

<p>Contudo, um dos investigadores lançou o aviso de que a introdução de publicidade em jogos violentos pode ter um efeito contrário ao desejado.</p>
<p>Para se ter uma idéia, mesmo que com lucros da publicidade em jogos ultrapasse os <strong><span style="color:#99cc00;">600 milhões</span></strong> de dólares em 2013, a <strong><span style="color:#99cc00;">id Software</span></strong> já anunciou que a publicidade em jogo não vai conseguir manter <strong><span style="color:#99cc00;">Quake Live</span></strong>, então para salva-lo só um milagre, e isso prova que as vezes essa publicidade pode não ser tão vantajosa, mas que em pelo menos 92% ela é isso eu garanto viu.</p>
