This was one of those bland pop songs that seemed to rule radio when it came out. Even though it was Eric Clapton singing it, it could had been anyone. The blandness seemed to suck the life right out of you.

Now for the Clark Brothers version. OK it still sucked, but it was at least a little interesting due to the dark version. They kept the tempo down and just worked through the song in a bluesy manner. It added a little much needed desperation to the song, but it lost what little hope it had.

It sounded more like an intro to a song, than an actual song.

Now the judge from the Goo Goo Dolls thought it was a unique interpretation. Unique as in wrong and stupid maybe. Kind of like William Shatner’s singing- Just because it’s unique doesn’t mean it’s good. Plus, Shatner has nicer hair.

-UPON further contemplation- I’ll the band kudos for not making it sugary sweet. They took the song into a darker place and I think it made it better in some ways. You know the producers picked this song for them and made them do it. So good for the Clark Brothers for tweaking it a little.

Honestly, I hope they win. As much as I think their performances were dried bat shit this week, I think they are very talented and probably the most commercial of the lot.

Good luck boys.

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” – Charles Darwin

Change is never easy. It disrupts the familiar, breaks the concrete and comfortable routine, and takes time to adjust to. It can come about as the result of a great conflict or upheaval, with heavy tolls that can continue to tax for years, decades, or even centuries.

Perhaps the greatest advantage to change is the potential for change to bring about the greatest common good. For change to effect millions of lives in a positive way; to ensnare the lively spirit and the visionary imagination of the human species – this is the type of change that frees and supplants the engendered and ingrained patterns of the world. To dream of a better world is free – one needs never to stop the dreaming.

With this in mind, Web for Humanity invites the children of the world to submit a dream – or as many as they’d like, to Blogging For Humanity on World AIDS Day, 2007. Parents – it’s time for your kids to break out the crayons and the imagination, and to share the magic with us.

We are calling for you to enter your piece to help us raise money for The Global Fund, an organisation dedicated to allocating the funds needed to combat AIDS, Malaria, and Tuberculosis around the world.

Submissions are open to whatever it is you can dream about. You have permission to dream, as much as possible. There is no limit to the number of submissions you can make to this initiative.

To have yourself stand out more in The Blog Honour Roll, the catalogue for entrants of If I Could Change The World – World Aids Day 2007 event, please submit a short biography of any length up to 500 words, along with a picture of approximately 200 x 200 pixels in size. All identity will be protected…first names and district locations only, please.

Pieces will be selected at random for ultimate inclusion in the inaugural volume of “If I Could Change The World”, to be made available through online publisherLulu.com on December 10, 2007. 100% of all profits from the sale will be donated to The Global Fund.

All submissions must be entered no later than 11pm on Friday, November 30, 2007, for inclusion on the day. We look forward to your submission, and wish you good luck with your entry.
