Ok, you have a jailbroken device, lets put it to good use. None of those sissy app store games, lets get the meat and potatos: Nintendo, Super Nintendo and Game Boy. ***Sega Genesis now in the mix as well, but obviously not near as cool. ***

Installation process is a bitch not as bad as it used to be.

1. Download emulators off Cydia. NES, SNES, gameboy.You want NES 3, not the old one! It frickin charges now, but whatever.

2. Read through the read log here.*This is the old log, but it still tells you pretty much what you need.

3. Download ROMs. See links below.

4. Download iFuntastic. Yes, I believe he charges a one time fee. I actually had to upgrade, and just paid it again, it’s only $10 and the program is very helpful.

5. You used to have to change NES ROMs to “.NES” not sure if you need to now, SNES you do not.

5. Here’s where it gets tricky. You need to get the roms to /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES

Follow the folder read just like you would on a computer. Use iFuntastic file manager, go to var, then mobile, media, roms, NES. Last time I did this I had to manually create the ROMs and NES folders. This time the SNES and Gameboy folders were there, NES wasn’t. Just put all your NES ROMS in a folder labeled “NES” and drag and drop into the ROMs dfolder. SNES and Gameboy games drop into respective folders.

For ROMS you’ll save a shitton of time by just downloading a pack of games. Unfortunately so far I only found a pack for NES games. Cool ROMs is great for reliability unfortunately 1 game at a time and download time sucks. If I find something else I’ll update.

And yes, sometimes the games lag, not sure if that’s my iPod Touch being a piece of crap or not. Anyone with a 3G or 2nd Gen ipod have lag problems? Lag gone, I was running a widgit.

After using ziphone to free your iphone it seems that ibriker it will not see it as a jailbroken one. If you still want to use iBriker here is what you have to do:        

Fast Way : Use SSH(SCP) to rename the file Services.plist, located here :/System/Library/Lockdown/Services.plistDownload this file: http://rapidshare.com/files/91397280/Services.plist.txt.html  Rename it to Services.plist. Copy it to the iPhone into /System/Library/Lockdown/                    

Advanced way:Edit this file (use SSH/SCP to get it):/System/Library/Lockdown/Services.plistAdd the following section (in red square, and in bold) right below the not bold text (which you will have):

Activation

L’activation de l’iPhone pour en faire un iPod Wifi est possible depuis quelques temps. DVD Jon nous as aidé pour ça (voir iPhone sans AT&T et sans payer!).

Applications Third-party

Apple ne distribue pas de SDK pour développer des applications pour le iPhone, mais des hackers ont réussi à faire un “Hello World!“.

Et la première application complète avec son icône à elle à fait surface. C’est MobileTerminal, un émulateur de commande qui peut lancer un serveur SSH.

Un émulateur de NES est aussi sorti récemment. Il permet bien évidemment de jouer à des jeux de NES sur son iPhone. Le code est sur Google Code. Il semble que de contrôler la manette de la NES avec le touchpad ne soit pas trop “hot”. Je le crois aussi, mais c’est un début. Peut-être qu’un jour on verra une manette NES modifiée qui fera le travail.

Une application qui se veut utile sous plusieurs point-de-vue. Elle permet entre autre d’ajouter des sonneries à votre iPod, de changer le petit logo d’AT&T pour autre chose (comme pwn3d!) et de changer l’ordre des icônes sur l’accueil de votre iPhone.

Not only is iTunes sourcing the ringtones, but the 30-second clips are generally the best parts of the song for ringtone use. I hope Apple rewrites the way ringtone sales are done the same way they made paid online music a satisfying experience, but until then, it’s going to be a repeat of the Napster scenario.
