Our trip began with a short flight to Denver then off to Minnesota.  Now, I’ve flown numerous times, probably around 30 times and have never been nervous until this flight.  Unfortunately, we weren’t able to sit next to each other on the flight to Denver but I had the pleasure of sitting next to a woman who was terrified of flying.  We hit a little bit of turbulence and she mentioned how the winds really pick up over the mountain.. I told her “don’t worry we’ll be fine” then it hit us.  It was truly the worst turbulence I have ever felt, several times it felt like the plane was dropping straight down or being slammed side to side… needless to say it was a bumpy landing.

The Mall of America is huge.  I think it was 5 floors in total.  It is so big there is an amusement park in the middle of it.  It wasn’t all just shops there though, there was plenty to see and it was fun to check it out (we don’t go shopping or to the mall very often).

So after walking around the mall for a little while we got hungry and found ourselves at Stir Crazy (www.stircrazy.com / @stircrazyfresh).  It was a nice Asian restaurant.  The service was very friendly and we were promptly seated.  We ordered some edamame to start which was nicely seasoned and a little spicy.  Unfortunately I don’t remember the main course we both had!  But, if your in the Mall of America and looking for some good Asian food be sure to check them out.

Over the next few days we made our way around Minneapolis and St. Paul.  Of course a stop we had to make was to the 5-8 Club (www.5-8club.com / @58club) home of the Juicy Lucy!  If you haven’t had one you are missing out.  The Juicy Lucy is a two patty burger filled with a wide selection of different cheeses.  We wanted to get adventurous but since it was our first time there we both went with the original.  Cheese and burger heaven.  

Being as my girl and I are both Pho lovers we had to find a spot.  A fellow instagram’r mentioned a spot to check out in St. Paul so we headed that way. We arrived at a little spot called Ngon Bistro (www.ngonbistro.com / @ngonbistro) thanks to the recommendation from @gaigaithai (check him out on instagram).  The Pho here was excellent.  The broth and noodles and meat.. all very delicious.  The place is large and comfortable although the music was heavy metal which I thought was an odd choice but the staff changed with the complaint of another family.  I personally didn’t mind the music because it wasn’t overly loud.  Definitely if you love Pho check this place out.

Being from California we don’t have White Castle so of course after seeing them everywhere like McDonald’s we had to check them out.  We got the original burgers.  I think we waited to long because we drove back to our hotel before eating them.  I’m sorry to say White Castle but In & Out has you beat in my books.  The White Castle burgers were good and I liked that they were small (I like the small burgers like the cheeseburgers from McDonalds… I don’t know why!).  I’ll give White Castle another chance if I ever have it again and will take the blame this time for waiting probably 20 mins before actually eating them.  Although they weren’t super fresh by the time we got to our hotel I still enjoyed them and ate all of it! 

We were able to see a ton of stuff in the few days we were in Minnesota and definitely enjoyed our visit.  There’s plenty to see in Minnesota (even if you think there isn’t).  We saw the Mall of America, the Aquarium, a Japanese garden, an underground gangster club and hideout, and so many amazing spots to eat.  If you get the chance don’t rule out Minnesota because it’s not just the Mall of America they have to offer.

Here are some photos from our trip… the last is the best.  Although I haven’t actually popped the question yet it was fun to send it to our parents and tell them that was the real reason we went to Minnesota.. I put myself in some dangerous waters!
