Absolutely loving everything in this.

Excluding the normal distractions, here are my top 5 distractions this week, as to why I haven’t got much of my Dissertation done.

5. Buying an Ice-Cream Maker.

Buying an icecream maker when it’s literally 9ºC outside isn’t one of my clever ideas. However, I have made some pretty awesome ices, including: Sour Lemon Sorbet. Still, I’m considering getting into the business.

4. Dance Dance Revolution X2.

I’m a DDR Addict, Seriously. and have the insentive to unlock everything and play them all properly. However, X2 seems pretty tight with that and I find it’s Dice-Unlock shenanigans more of a timewaster.

3. Working like a maniac.

It keeps you off the streets and puts food on the table, But typically working 8 hours to me, has never involved doing very much. Enjoy.

2. Bargain Hunt!

Not the tacky BBC program, the TK Maxx Homeware store, leaving college early last Tuesday and getting on with work at home, doesn’t work. Instead, me and a friend thought we’d hit the most expensive shops in Romford. I splashed out and bought this stylish wooden rack, typically seen on pub tables overflowing with napkins and sauces. It’s a must for my new place, regardless of how tacky it is.

1.  IIDX 16 -Empress-.

This makes the top distraction of the week.

I’m not the sort of person to gaze into a TV screen but Bemani Music games make this expection, IIDX just managed to consume my time, trying to progress and beat old scores and with such a huge library.

Eee. At this rate, I can see my word count at 3,173 forever.

beatmania IIDX EMPRESS, la última versión de la saga de juegos de simulación para DJs beatmania IIDX irá las videoconsolas japonesas (probablemente  para PS2).

El anuncio se da a una semana de que el Original Soundtrack de la versión arcade de EMPRESS fuera puesto a la venta.

Lo que sorprende realmente en todo ésto es que el Score Data Collection (evento en la versión arcade de donde se seleccionarán las canciones que irán a las consolas), es que se enlista un gran número de revivals -canciones de versiones previas de IIDX-, que sumadas a las 54 nuevas de EMPRESS hacen un total de 180 (wow! un buen numero considerando que normalmente las listas de los lanzamientos para PS2 no suele superar el número 100 de tracks).

El ‘Score Data Collection’ irá del 13 al 31 de mayo, y hasta entonces solo podremos contar con las canciones que se aprecian en el listado (todas originarias de arcades IIDX, mas no de versiones caseras); aun si es que no se incluyeran todas el número será considerable  y hace pensar que el juego podría ser vendido en formato DVD 9 (Dual Layer disc) para compensar el mayor uso del espacio en el disco. La posibilidad de que EMPRESS vaya a otras videoconsolas del medio como PS3, va quedando descartada teniendo en cuenta que haría que los controles IIDX para PS2 sean inservibles (KONAMI advirtió que en el PS3 pueden no funcionar adecuadamente), y que en tiempos no tan buenos para la economía de Japón sería arriesgado para la empresa aventurarse con ésta propuesta que implicaría la adquisición de nuevo hardware (algo a lo que muchos fans nos resistimos aun).

Bien, al menos con éste anuncio ya sabemos que IIDX no solo estará en las arcades; aunque debo admitir mi preocupación ya que puede que mi PS2 no admita juegos importados aun con mod chip (es algo que aun tengo que investigar puesto que mi PS2 es de los más antiguos que hay).

Por ahora, disfrutemos de lo que vendrá en EMPRESS CS

Con el anuncio, y luego con el estreno de 07-GHOST (TV) supimos del regreso, ya con fuerza, de la carrera musical de Noria Shiraishi (ex-miembro del grupo BeForU, famoso por sus canciones en juegos de BEMANI como DanceDanceRevolution, beatmania IIDX, pop’n music, GuitarFreaks & DrumMania. Su tema 瞳のこたえ (Hitomi no Kotae) recuerda a otras cancione en la que antes ha demostrado su gran potencial como cantante (si han oido TEARS o Glorious Days, me entenderán).

Pero fue con のカケラ (Aka no Kakera), el tema de 07-GHOST interpretado por Yuki Suzuki (ex-miembro de “Yellow Generation”, famosas por el 2º ED de FMA, “Tobira no Muko e”) que supe de algo que los fans de BEMANI no habíamos apreciado desde mucho tiempo atrás. Resulta que la canción fue producida y compuesta por Noria, en conjunto con “Kana” (a quien no conozco) y NAOKI MAEDA….

¿Y qué tiene de especial el que NAOKI & Noria trabajen juntos??

Pues es que Naoki fue el productor musical del grupo BeForU que lanzó a Noria Shiraishi como cantante (junto a Riyu Kosaka, que también ya ha tenido temas para animes como Claymore y películas como Kamen Rider: THE NEXT); aparte, Noria ya ha hecho trabajos en solo producidos por NAOKI en juegos de BEMANI… la verdad, a Noria no se le veia trabajar junto a un artista de la conocida división musical de KONAMI desde que se separó del grupo BeForU. La verdad es que ésta canción les ha quedado genial (me recuerda a los múltiples trabajos que ha hecho NAOKI en KONAMI, y en éspecial a Kimochi de DDR UNIVERSE 3 -Xbox360, US- (Noten el parecido).

Otra cosa en la que estoy pensando es en la posibilidad de que a causa de que la cantante y el compositor estén juntos de nuevo, haya influido en la desición de no remover ciertas canciones de beatmania IIDX EMPRESS. Varias de las canciones de BeForU fueron removidas, pero los trabajos en solitario de Noria, no (Glorious Days, Silvia Drive, Baby Love, and Melody Life todavía están ahi, y considerando ésta situación pues ya no sería tan extraña que sigan)

Con respecto a 07-GHOST, pues debo dejar en claro que posiblemente la dropee (la deje de ver) ya que no me parecer tan atractiva como otras series de la temporada -aunque no parecer ser el peor trabajo del estudio DEEN, por ahora-. Pero me alegra, como fan de BEMANI, que Noria & NAOKI sigan manteniendo nexos aun fuera de la compañía que los hizo conocidos.

Fuu, hace tiempo que no estoy posteando por aqui…veamos un resumen rapido:

Estas semanas pasadas, estube con parciales al igual que ahora. Tambien, logre algo que creia bastante imposible en internet: Entrar a un Sows (sows son lugares donde se podria decir que se suben torrents privados, de los mas raros, pero hay que seguir determinadas reglas para estar en ellos.) En mi caso, fue Bemaniso.ws, una web que se podria decir que tiene todo lo que decees de Bemani (Bemani es la division de Konami Computer Entertainment que se dedica a hacer juegos de Ritmo, musica y otros, como ejemplo la serie de Dance Dance Revolution y Beatmania IIDX)

Alli, pude encontrar los mejores y mas impresionantes releases, tanto como HDs de Arcades, hasta OSTs, pero me decidi a bajar una version “Custom” de Beatmania IIDX DJ Troopers, la ultima version de Beatmania que hasta ahora ha salido, con canciones de los eventos denominados BMS of Fighters.

Asi, corriendo el HD de la Arcade, me he pegado unos vicios de aquellos. Sin embargo pienso bajar el IIDX Happy Sky en algun momento que tenga libre, pero para eso tendre que esperar al menos 1 mes ^^

Tambien comento, que para fin de mes, voy a adquirir un hermoso Core 2 Quad Q6600 y una MSI Geforce 9800GT, asi que se imaginarian mi alegria de locos ^^

Mmm Tambien no deberia olvidar destacar algunas cosas, como un juego Indie (De un desarrollador independiente), llamado World of Goo:

World of Goo es un juego de 2dboy.com, donde tienes que lograr determinados objetivos, uniendo unos seres llamados “Goo”, algo bizarro, pero es una version completa de un prototipo llamado “Tower of goo”, donde actuaba la fisica mas que nada. La musica es de la mejor que podriamos escuchar y la direccion artistica nos recuerda a Tim Burton, con un estilo de Nightmare before chrismas que haria sonreir a muchos. Se lo recomiendo a cualquiera que desee pasar un muy buen rato con un juego que demuestra que no se necesitan graficos del Crysis, ni un equipo de personas de 300 para hacer un juego realmente una obra de arte.

Y Por cierto, si piensan conseguirlo, no lo descarguen ilegal. Los desarrolladores indies, se merecen mucho por su arduo laburo, y 20 dolares no es nada para algunos pero mucho para ellos.

Tras muchas especulaciones sobre el título del nuevo IIDX, se supo en 2ch que el nombre sería “beatmania IIDX EMPRESS”. Recientemente, KONAMI confirmo que el título del nuevo beatmaniaIIDX es el que sel filtró en .

beatmaniaIIDX EMPRESS. La versión AC nº 16 de la serie.

KONAMI inició tests en los días 26 y 27 de junio, en donde se vio lo que escribo a continuación.

Como habrán notado al ver la primera imagen de IIDX EMPRESS, este juego un skin completamente rosa.
Y en el BG también se puede ver la mariposa del logo (¡qué hermosa!. por cierto).

Claro, hay quienes les disguta esta elección por parte de KONAMI.
Por los nuevos personajes introducidos, el logo y el skin (sobre a todo a este). Califican al juego de ser hecho para chicas (para atraer más al publico femenino).
Veamos algunos calificativos: “GIRLY THEME”, “too pink”, “IIDX LOLI” -este me gusta-, y hasta llamarlo “gay” (nada más lejos de la realidad).

Sota Fujimori lanzará su primer album llamado “SYNTETHIZED”will release his 1st album on 29/08/08.

Realmente, deseaba que se diera este anuncio. Aunque ha sido más pronto de lo qeu esperaba, lo que sorprendió.

Gusto de la música de Sota Fujimori desde hace algunos años, y hasta ahora no he quedado decepcionado de su producción. De hecho, es uno de mis artistas preferidos. El como mezcla los sintetizadores que usa es fascinante.

and why the fuckhole is beatmania still such an expensive game? i dont get it…. why dont sell it for just 30 bucks? is it too expensive to program that game?! this is plain insane… i mean imagine pulling out more that 25games within 10years of ONE GAMESERIES! and they still sell it well…

its been a while i know, but please be nice, i had to do a lot of stuff for school like writing something for my class and my tutors and so on.

well my attention was grabbed this time by a game named beatmania IIDX Gold. i thought, if i should buy it, but that soundtrack sucks beyond good and evil. and i dont know why!?!

Distorted was such a fine OST and style… i dont like gold…

The school season is here once again, and within the course of the summer vacation, I have not managed to write a single substantial entry. Shame on me.

On the other hand, this would be a really good time to look back at the previous spring season’s offerings, as well as anything else of interest.

For starters, let’s have a look at the shows from the spring ‘08 season, plus whatever else I’ve watched recently:

To-LOVE Ru
Another of those fanservice-filled shows that caters to titillate to many a lonely otaku, this show started mediocre, and as of writing, probably still is. It suffers from a rather boring plot – girl from outer space falls in love with guy, hijinks ensue – though I guess it’s enough of a premise to shove breasts in the viewers face. While the animation quality was generally acceptable (I have low standards), the lack of substance in the show itself had me turn away from it after just the first viewing. Assuming it follows the manga, I doubt it will have any significant change in anything else. Perhaps it was just boredom that led me to reading the manga, but now that it’s past, I find no real point in watching this show other than having it as a “filler” of sorts.

Quite a good show, this one is. I can’t really pinpoint the main draw of the series. Be it the above-average production values with generally consistent animation quality (though as LianYL pointed out, Murasaki seems to constantly change height), the intriguing story, the voice acting (yes, Murasaki’s voice in unbearably grating, but let’s ignore that for now), or any combination of the above-mentioned factors. One thing about the series that keeps me going is how the show decides to do the exposition within episodes. It ever so slowly gives hints on the Kuhouins, on the pasts of the each of the characters (though a certain glasses-wearing girl seems to have been shafted in this area), and all sorts of other things that have to be taken and dissected by the viewer in order to get a fuller understanding of the world they live in. Another draw would be how the show just keeps you watching – you start to sympathize with the characters, and the more you do, the more you need to keep on going – to find out what happens to each of them; “Will Murasaki ever be able to live freely as she wants? What will happen, now that she’s been taken back? What COA will each of the characters take?” These sorts of things go through your mind as every episode ends, and sometimes even past that. It’s this sort of thought-invoking stuff that makes me keep wanting to watch the show, despite its flaws.

The Tower of Druaga – The Aegis of Uruk
I never actually got past the second episode of this show. I’m guessing what a lot of people liked in the first episode was how GONZO was actually able to deliver some really good parodies and humor with a fantasy RPG setting. However, as the show went on, it delved back into typical GONZO stuff. The first episode, while entertaining, was unfortunately not followed through with subsequent episodes. The second showing was pretty boring, as far as anything went, and even had the main character (whose name I forgot) get framed for killing the king – how cliché. Right now, I’ve not a clue on what’s going on in the show (I don’t read episode summaries) so I can’t say much on the plot. However, given that the second episode was already enough motivation to get me to drop the series, I doubt it could get any better – this is GONZO after all. On the other hand, scenes like this get me to change my mind.

Kanokon
Softcore porn. That’s really the best way to describe this show. Rather than taking the roundabout route that To-LOVE Ru chose, the studio decided to just throw as many naked and risqué scenes as possible. Like To-LOVE Ru, I read the Kanokon manga out of boredom. When the drive I had for the manga disappeared, so did the drive I had for the show, leading me to drop it around episode 2 or 3, if I’m not mistaken. Plot? Action? Cast all pretense to the curb, because really, there is no other reason to watch this show other than the fanservice. That being said, if you like that stuff, then go for it. Unfortunately, I am not. Being already busy with all sorts of stuff (like school, IIDX, trying to get better at drawing, and so on. plus anime), I doubt I’ll ever find the time to watch this show again.

Nabari no Ou
One of the most promising shows this season, but unfortunately, I was let down. The show started off well, with lots of ninja action. The premise itself was actually interesting, with ninja clans fighting over control over someone who has the ability to gain infinite wisdom and all that. This clearly set the stage
for lots of awesome fight scenes, but unfortunately degraded into exposition-filled episodes and whiny emo kid crap. Still currently pondering as to whether I should keep going, seeing as I’m already halfway through, or if I should just drop it altogether.

Zettai Karen Children
“PENIS BEAMS FUCK YEAH” were the thoughts I was able to gather from the first episode, but unfortunately, other villains have yet to top this power as of late. The first episode was enough to get my interest, which unfortunately waned away at around the fourth episode or some (whichever had the girls move in with Minamoto). Because this show’s pretty low priority, I haven’t watched enough right now to form any half-baked thoughts on the series, but given the motivation, I’ll get back to watching it.

BLASSREITER
Quickly dropped at the second or third episode, if I’m not mistaken. A lot of factors led me to this decision, but there were two prominent ones: (a) GONZO CG and (b) lack of any subs.
(b) is rather glaringly obvious. If one were to search “BLASSREITER” in a certain torrent directory, one would clearly notice the lack of English-subtitled releases beyond the third episode.
(a) is rather self-explanatory too, with GONZO constantly using CG in everything – the cars, trucks, motorcycles, whatever those things were, and Hermann, which irked me because of the inconsistency with the hand-drawn animation. In other words, they didn’t blend in well.
Thanks to the above-mentioned factors, actively following BLASSREITER pretty much became an impossibility (mostly thanks to [b], of course).

Kyouran Kazoku Nikki
What I loved about this series was how it was so much like SHAFT productions without actually having been touched by SHAFT. The insane pace at which the show goes is pretty fun and while not as insane as say, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, it does have a more coherent plot, rather than just randomness. Like with most other shows, I have yet to watch the more recent shows out of lack of motivation. Sometimes, you just can’t get the energy to watch anime, weird as it may sound. On the other hand, it seems it gets more and more out of hand when compared to previous episodes, so I’m very much looking forward to it.

Soul Eater
A decent action show, but there are still, of course, flaws to be found. Firstly, while background art is incredibly well-done, lush, and detailed, the foreground – the main area of focus – is rather lacking in visual detail. It doesn’t bother me, given my low standards for quality, but it may be an issue for some. Maka’s voice acting is still flat as ever, but I think I’ve gotten used to it, for the most part. However, the biggest problem I have with the show is how it handles itself. Is it more of an action show, or comedy? In just about every single fight scene there is, there seems to be some sort of slapstick between the characters which disrupts the flow of what could be a good, well, fight. Still, it’s entertaining enough for something to watch, say, on a Sunday morning (which unfortunately is not an option for me because I have to fulfill Christian obligations or something like that).

Sky Girls TV
Yes, I know, slowpoke.tif, etc. but believe me, I have several days of anime burned onto DVDs which I will probably never touch again – it was on a friend’s recommendation that I fished it out of storage and watched it. So far, I’ve gotten to the halfway point in the series, and as a friend of a friend of mine said, “it’s a good anime, but it has serious pacing issues.” Right now, it feels that a lot of the things that happened could have been omitted or sped-up so the animators could squeeze in more content or something. Still the inclusion of the Vic Viper was a really funny reference that any idiot could get. If there is some sort of IIDX reference in there, I will seriously laugh. Hard.
Hopefully, the show can pick up the pace and do some plot twists or something. Also, Eika is moe and love.

Monochrome Factor
The gay crap was enough to put me off.
That said, it’s not too bad, but.. ugh.

Wagaya no Oinari-sama
The show drags on forever and nothing happens.

Vampire Knight

And now, for stuff I bought:

I actually got the manga a few days ago, with the Byousoku 5cm DVD around 2 Sundays ago, but I never got to writing about it until now. Negima!, as I’m sure everyone knows about, isn’t much to write about, considering everyone’s probably tens of chapters ahead already anyway (at chapter 213, to be exact). I was actually surprised at how ARIA and AQUA the manga are different from the show. A lot of chapters are in completely different areas, with some characters being present, other absent, and of course, the actual order in which they are presented. Of course, this sense of familiarity, yet unfamiliarity (dare I liken it to a Venn Diagram?) gives me incentive to experience the manga and the anime separately. And.. I guess that’s it for now.

Given that I’m not very good with putting thoughts into words (this post alone took three days of on-and-off writing), I really can’t think of anything else to say now. Of course, that could be because I’ve been listening to みさおマニア mixes the entire time, but hopefully, I’ll find something in school to relate with anime. Or perhaps get some inspiration from said school, or something. Whatever.

Finally got a copy after around 2 days of waiting. I totally suck compared to everyone else, but at least I’ve already passed 8th dan, despite my inability to on the arcade. Candy Galy [h], 革命 [a], 電人、暁に斃れる [h], and Get on Beat [a] were rough though.

I must say, it is fucking awesome. I can’t describe it any better right now. I stayed up until 3 4 in the morning just playing. If you’ll excuse me now, I will leave.
