Buzz ito sa blog ngayon, kung gaano ka-witty at ka-OA (overacting) ang telenobelang Iisa Pa Lamang. Golddigger, bitch, demonyo, loka-loka ang mga babae. Ang kakatwa rito, kung babasahin lang ang mga dialog, parang iisang tinig lang ang nagsasalita. At ito rin ang problematiko sa balon ng tinig na pinagmumulan ng iba’t ibang karakter: na binubura ang kaibahan, at ang nirerehistro ay ang kaisahan. Ito ang camp bilang be-all and end-all ng laro. Pati ang tinig ng lalake ay nanggagaling rin sa isang boses na ito.

At ito ang ideolohikal na projection ng telenobelang camp: bading ang orihinaryo ng lahat ng camp at ginagamit ito para bigyan-definisyon (porma, laman, kalidad at substansya) ang babae at pagkababae, maging ang fantasya ng ideal ng lalake at pagkalalake. Ang substansasyon ay problematiko dahil nagmimistulan itong appropriation ng female desire ng mga bading na tunay namang invisible, kundi man stereotipikal sa telebisyon at media. Ang kasalukuyang atake ng telenobelang camp ay ang ekonomiyang kontradiksyon sa hanay ng mayayamang o nag-aastang mayayamang babae. Na ang resulta ng negasyon sa negasyon ay gawing isang positibo ang sukdulang yaman bilang batayan ng kapangyarihan sa kapwa babae. OK maging mayaman dahil makakapandaot ka ng kabaro, ang sinasaad ng telenobela. At tulad naman ng inaasahan sa genre ng romantikong melodrama, ang pinag-aawayan lang naman talaga ay ang atensyon at pag-ibig ng lalake. Dito papasok, a bit, ang moral na kabutihan ng babae, ang magpapaigpaw sa isa laban sa maraming nakakapanghatak sa moral na nararapat na babae.

Scarlet: Excited? Alam mo bang mas excited pa akong agpunta sa dentista at magpa-root anal kesa makaharap ka?

Isadora: Ikaw naman, nagapaka-funny. Kung ang lahat ng bulok na ngipin ay kasing ganda ko, o di wala nang bibili ng toothpaste. I’m so witty.

Catherine: Ano ba talaga ang pakay mo? I’m sure hindi naan angkapakanan ng dental industry ang pinunta mo dito, bi da? Business? Monkey business?

Isadora:Oo, at napakadisenteng moneky business. Politics.

Tanging itong huli ang may edgy na kalidad sa parody dahil may irony sa pagpapantay ng di magkakapantay na mga isyu: business: monkey business: politics. At mayroong disjuncture na nagaganap dahil may transisyon tungo sa pagtutumbas ng negosyo at politika. Kumpara sa pagtatangkang maging swabe sa iba at nakararaming dialog, iisa ang rehistro, iisa ang tinig na sumisikil sa irony. Tunghayan na lamang ang dami ng exclamation point sa dialog. Parang nakikipagsindakan parati ang mga karakter na babae. At kung pare-pareho ang sindak, hindi na ito nakakasindak. Tumatawa ang manonood na walang self-reflexivity sa wit kahit binabanggit pa ito sa mismong dialog.

Catherine: I’ll see you there! Hahahaha.

Hindi orihinal ang panggogoya ng Iisa Pa Lamang, kahit pa komiko ang epekto ng deadpan delivery ng lines. Precisely kaya ito comic ay dahil ang kapantayan ay sa rehistro ng aktwal na pagsasambit ng linya at ang konteksto na hindi ito nagaganap sa pang-araw-araw na buhay. Tunay na reafirmasyon ng plebisito sa fantasmagorya kay Gloria Arroyo: na seryosong pagsambit sa nakatatawang bigkas ng datos at estado ng pag-unlad ng bansa. Ang isinasaad ay kung paano naitatago ng pangde-deadma ang tunay na kapaitan ng kaganapang pambansa, na ang pinakamarahas na kondisyon ng di pag-akibat ay panunumbas sa panlalaglag sa mayoryang mamamayan. Hindi na nakakatawa ito.

Wazak! Wazak!

IISA PA LAMANG characters have a way of making light what should be an otherwise dramatic and emotional situation.

Take for example the conversation between the “back from the dead” Isadora and her daughter Sophia who just recently discovered her mom was alive.

Sophia: I’m glad you’re ok.
Isadora: Di ako naniniwala sa iyo. Pina-plastic mo lang ako…
Sophia: Ma, na-depress ako nung nawala ka.
Isadora: Totoo ba yan? Umiyak ka ba talaga nung nalunod ako sa kumunoy?

Ayos di ba?

Excited na talaga ako sa ending nito. Ito ang second highly anticipated event ko for the week, next only to the US presidential elections. hehe. At least sa US elections, may idea na tayo kung paano ang ending. Sa IPL, no idea pa rin kung paano matetepok si Isadora.

We can now safely say….the awesomeness is back!

From the moment we read Scarlet’s note to Isadora, (Manigas ka, Bitch!), we knew that the awesomeness of IISA PA LAMANG has been restored. We had to sit through two weeks of lame and boring episodes before the story picked up again.

Last Friday, there was the Isadora and Scarlet confrontation:

Scarlet: Every inmate has a bitch. Then you will be mine.

Tonight we witnessed a lot of gun-pointing and some shooting. Almost all the major characters had guns. Miguel, Isadora, Catherine, Vernon. And while there was a lot of gun-pointing, there was also a lot of talking. Makes you wonder why is it that these characters take their time explaining things at gun-point. So we come to the confrontation between Isadora, Catherine and Sophia.

Sophia: Ma, she’s my sister.
Isadora (in a mocking tone): “She’s my sister…”

Isadora confesses to all the evil things she did, the murders, frame-ups and so on. Which drives Catherine into a murderous rage. Which prompts Isadora to shoot Catherine, only to end up shooting her own daughter Sophia.

Then we see Rafael Torralba (Gabby Concepcion) arrive with his congressional posse’ who were all armed. We then wonder at the scene where Rafael single-handedly confronts an armed Vernon. Why would a congressman with a dozen bodyguards, go after the armed villain on his own. What is even more ridiculous is after Rafael subdues Vernon, he turns his back on the latter and calls on his bodyguards on his cellphone. At this point, Vernon gets up and whacks Rafael from behind. WTF??!!

But the best scene tonight? An amazing twist happened.

While being pursued by Catherine, Isadora accidentally falls into…. QUICKSAND! Holy cow, there was quicksand in Hacienda Amadesto! Kala ko sa gubat lang yun. The quicksand did what it usually does, “swallow” its victim. Catherine now has a moral dilemma, to save Isadora or just let her sink to a much-deserved horrible muddy death. Of course Catherine does the noble thing, and that is to help Isadora by extending a tree branch she can grab.

But Isadora has a practical dilemma of her own. Does she let go of the bag full of money and jewels, her loot bag and last chance at wealth, so she can grab the tree branch that could save her life. Isadora, as expected holds on to her loot. Catherine, not knowing what to do, decides to run for help and leaves Isadora. When they got back, ISADORA WAS NO LONGER THERE!?

Holy crap, Isadora’s gone!? Swallowed by the earth!

It was Sophia who pointed out the irony of it all. That Isadora would meet her end at the hacienda which was the focal point of the conflicts between the characters. The hacienda she sought to control would be the hacienda that would be the end of her.

So to our avid viewers, the question on all our minds is, IS ISADORA REALLY GONE?

As Abigail Ho correctly pointed out, Scarlet has used colors to describe her arch nemesis Catherine. We have heard the “merry widow in black”, the “gold-digger in red” and the slightly weird “dirty mistress in DIRTY brown”. Scarlet’s name is itself a reference to color.

During the court hearing, the prosecutor asked Scarlet to identify the person who shot Estelle.

Scarlet (pointing to Catherine): That’s the murderess in yellow

Later that episode, there’s the obligatory conversations between Miguel and Scarlet who perpetually disagree on everything especially when it comes to Catherine.

Scarlet: She deserves to rot in jail. And the best part is, ako ang susi na kakandado sa selda nya.

Other than these two semi-interesting quotes, there were no fireworks in tonight’s episode. My head hurts from the latest developments. People keep getting shot/killed, thrown in jail, and haled to court. Now we have more and more scenes shot at the detention facility and the court room.

In the opening sequence, we see Katherine and Scarlet face off at the corridor, exchanging the usual barbs that make this such an interesting series to watch.

Scarlet: Social climber ka talaga. Pauwi na lang, nakuha mo pang mag-change costume. You look a bit overdressed para sa uuwian mong squatters area.

Then Miguel enters the scene, to the dismay of Scarlet. She thus addresses Katherine…

Scarlet: You look like a dirty whore who’s just about to do her job…

Catherine: Coming from you, I should be flattered…. (si) Miguel, excited.

(Nato: medyo confusing itong last exchange na ito.)

After receiving their respective nominations for president of Dela Rhea Foods, the two give their parting shots.

Scarlet: Good luck bitch.

Katherine: May the best bitch win.

Each nominee is given time to make their argument before the board.

Scarlet: Dear board members, mula pagkabata ko, mulat na ako sa kumpanyang ito. Walang ibang bukambibig ang tatay ko kundi DLR foods. This is my birthright…. Yung iba sa inyo dito, nanggaling sa wala…pero tiniyaga kayong i-train blah blah ng tatay ko… tignan nyo naman may inabot na kayo. Siguro naman dapat lang tumanaw ng utang na loob sa tatay ko. Let’s keep DLR a family corporation….

Scarlet: (After all), blood is always thicker… than canal water.

(Ang lupet, di ba?)

When her turn came, Katherine delivers an Obama-esque speech on why she must be voted president of DLR Foods.

Katherine: DLR Foods is indeed a family corporation… naging bahagi din ako ng pamilya nyo…blah blah. Nakita nyo naman kung paano ang pamamalakd at pagpatakbo ko. Karamihan sa inyo nakaranas ng pamumuno ni scarlet. Let the figures speak for itself. Well, nasa sa inyo yan, kung gusto ninyo na by the end of the year, ga-singko lang ang dividend na mauuwi nyo, vote for Scarlet…

Pero kung ako ang iboboto nyo, tinitiyak ko, lahat tayo, lalangoy sa pera.

Blood may be thicker than water, pero sino ba naman ang may gusto ng infected blood. Kung si Scarlet ang iboboto nyo, na parang infected ng HIV virus, para rin ninyong tinaningan ang kumpanyang ito.

In a desperate attempt to swing votes in her favor, Scarlet invokes the age old tenet of LOYALTY.

But Katherine invokes an even better age-old tenet, that of HARD WORK, to quote Katherine, “sipag at tiyaga” na “hindi lang basta minana”.

Katherine: Ako ang iboto nyo at wag ang spoiled brat na anak na si Scarlet.

Predictably, Katherine wins the vote thanks to her Obama-esque speech about failed leadership and the change we can all believe in (Read: lahat tayo lalangoy sa pera). This gives rise to the next exchange.

Scarlet: Mga wala kayong utang na loob!

Katherine: Di ka rin pala spoiled brat. Loser ka rin.

Scarlet: Tandaan mo, magtutuos pa tayong dalawa.

Katherin: Ok, bye. Tsupi. Alis.

Meanwhile, in a detention facility not far away…

Sophia: San ka ba makakita ng nanay na tinitiis makulong ang anak nya…

Isadora: Sige na, sige na, peace na tayo….

Katherine, after buying the majority shares of Dela Rhea Foods, drops by Scarlett’s house to tell her the good/bad news. Katherine is now big boss of the company.

Katherine: Sa umaga pag punta ko sa opisina, gusto ko ipagtimpla mo ako ng kape… black, VERY BLACK. Kasing pait ng buhay na ipalalasap ko sa iyo!

Scarlett: Go to hell! Go to hell!
Katherine: I’ll see you there… (as she flashes that maniacal smile)

The two again had an unpleasant encounter at the Dela Rhea boardroom.

Katherine: Nalusutan na naman kita, through the backdoor.
Scarlett: Backdoor, backstabbing, backbiting….dyan ka naman magaling.
Katherine: Umalis ka na sa trono ko… dahil nagbalik na ang tunay na reyna. (saka tinapon ang mamahaling purse/bag ni Scarlett mula sa mesa na parang gamit na tissue. astig.)

Nato: Medyo dumadami na ang mga isyu sa tele-serye na ito. May namamatay, nakukulong, corporate take-over, backstabbing, frame up etc.. mahirap yung andaming sub-plots. Nawawalan ng focus, focus sa mga matitinding dialogue at awesome quotes. =)

The Amadesto Land Dispute:

Isadora (Cherry Pie): Di pwedeng mawala sa akin ang (hacienda) Amadesto. Di pwedeng mapunta yun kay Aura (Susan Roces). Anong gagawin nya dun? Home for the aged?

Isadora: Hoy ikaw, talaga lang bang nahihibang ka, o sadyang ulyanin ka? Bakit mo ipinamimigay ang Hacienda Amadesto?

Aura: At bakit hindi? Ilang henerasyong nang nagtatrabaho sa lupa ang mga yan (magsasaka)

Isadora: Wala silang karapatan….

Aura: Napakaramot mo talaga…

Isadora: Aura, tandaan mo ang Hacienda Amadesto ay isang negosyo, hindi kawang-gawa. Ano ba talaga balak mo, palitan si Rosa Rosal?

Sophia (Melissa Ricks): Ma’ what’s a piece of land? … They deserve it!

Isadora (in a mocking tone): They deserve it…. Isa ka pa! Gusto mong pag-untugin ko ulo nyo para magka-isip kayo ng tama? Eh napakaliit na nga nga Hacienda Amadesto para sa atin, mandadamay pa kayo? Ano ba talaga tingin nyo sa lugar na ito, NGO?

On house chores:

After Isadora thrashes her house (na minimalist na ang style dahil naghihirap na sila) because of her outrage at the court decision to award Hacienda Amadesto jointly to her and Aura (Susan Roces), we hear her daughter give this crisp remark:

Ok, I’ll make this short. Tonight’s episode of IISA PA LAMANG has more to do with revelations and incidents rather than awesome dialogues between insane characters.

As I had been telling my friend Gerry this morning, Aura is going to die but she had the foresight of fixing all the papers for Katherine to be the rightful heir of half of Hacienda Amadesto. Remember Aura talked to her lawyers during last week’s episodes. And as our friend Thea is predicting, Katherine will use her inheritance so gain control of Dela Rhea Foods.

Katherine is lucky considering there are those in the Philippines who still go to court and get entangled in nasty legal battles just to claim their inheritance.

Then there’s the frame up of Estelle for the murder of Aura.

From this point on, Isadora has been responsible for the deaths of her former lover (Mang Rolando, father of Sophia) and now Aura. Isadora was also responsible for the kidnapping and illegal detention of Katherine at the beginning of the series.

With such an evil track record, we wonder how the writers are of I.P.L. will exact sweet revenge on Isadora at the end of the series. What could be a fitting end to her career as evil landlord and tormentor? How will they kill her off in the end? Any guesses?

Scarlet and Miguel gets into a heated argument. He wants her to stop defending him from everyone. But it all went down to Scarlet telling him that up until now he cant appreciate what she is doing for him and this is because he still loves Katherine (she still doesn’t not know that Kate and the Katherine that Miguel loves is the same). But he just told her not to interfere with what he does and to let him run his own life.

Miguel confronts Katherine but she just told him that she did not know that a simple table would be a great deal so she already made arrangements for his office to be done with the renovations and added that she was sorry. Just as she was leaving, she tripped and Miguel carried her to the sofa to massage her sprained foot. Maggie came to show her doll to her dad and as if he was electrocuted, he carried his daughter and left Katherine without a single glance.

Apparently, Rafael saw everything. How Miguel carried and massaged Katherine’s foot. He was supposed to approach her to ask her to talk to her father as he is with him. But he just left without telling her. Rafael confessed to Mang Rolando that he loves Katherine. She knows that he love her but in the way things are turning out, he told Mang Rolando that maybe it will be better if he just forget his love for her.

Toby and Sophia keeps on bickering again. Toby and Jenna are trying to review while Sophia keeps on talking to Jonas on the phone. Toby told her to stop because he and Jenna cant concentrate in studying. Jenna stood up and left the two but before that she told them to stop their jealousy acts. Both became speechless.

Katherine told Miguel that his office is now ready and that she promoted him to Senior Vice President for Dela Rhea Foods. When Miguel is about to leave her office, Rafael came and she told him the happy news where he congratulated Miguel.

Jenna is extremely sad when Sophia approached her. Sophia guessed that maybe it is because of the thing about the jealousy between her and Toby. Jenna thinks that Toby likes Sophia. But she reassured her that it was nothing. And that whom she likes is Jonas and if Jenna wants, she can have Toby. She even added that Jonas already told her that he loves her. (Hey girls, Toby is not a toy, that you can give away.

Katherine talks to Rafael and told him that Miguel deserves the position. He agreed to her and told her that he deserves it because he is very hardworking. But she added that yes he deserves if even if he did not do well in their US branch, but still he is family. He is Martin’s stepson and Scarlet’s husband so its more proper to the position. (Kate, make up your mind. Does he deserve it or not?)

Scarlet and Isadora are talking to each other on how well Scarlet handled Kate. If not, Miguel will not get promoted. She also told Isadora that she feels that Kate has evil plans in stored for Miguel and she is worried. But told her not to worry, whats important is that Miguel is now has a high position. The hospital also called to ask her to get her fathers belongings that they left there.

Katherine does everything so that she can come to Davao with Miguel for a conference meeting with clients. Hmmm… she is brewing something.

Toby asked his brother, Rafael, why is it that when you someone likes you, you don’t like her but the person you love, loves someone else, its abnormal. Rafael told him that it is the question he cant answer as he is suffering the same dilemma. Maybe he just have to forget about that person and find someone else. But Toby told him that its is easily said than done, feeling hurt when you see her with someone else and you cant do anything about it. And making yourself like a fool. Then both just decided to drink than think about it. Lets drink to that! Guys, im with you, im also asking the same questions. Anyone want to give us answers? LOL ;}

Sophia is crying over the things that her father left. She already retrieved Martin’s things from the hospital.

Miguel is packing his things for his Davao trip, Scarlet asked if he wants them to accompany him there but he declined. Scarlet’s jealousy attacked again and even mentioned that its ok because Katherine will not be there because Davao is too far from Amadesto. He told her to stop her nagging because he have never cheated her. She asked if it is because she is enough for him but he told her that it is all because of Maggie, she does not want her to hate him if he cheated on her.

Rafael found out that Miguel and Katherine went to Davao together and alone.

Miguel was surprised to know that there will only be him and Katherine alone in Davao for the conference but can do nothing about it. Miguel always feel distracted whenever Katherine is with her. And in the end, Miguel gave in to Katherine… (You already know what happened…)

Miguel almost gave in to Catherine’s flirting and almost kissed her. Scarlet suddenly called him, its just right in time or something might have happened. Miguel came back to reality and told her, “You’re living in too much illusion.” Then left.

Miguel is drinking while thinking about Catherine. He still believes that she is not a good person but cant help but remember all the good times that they shared, and even admits to himself that he cant stop what he is feeling for her.

Catherine thinks about the hospital that she burned. Luella asks if she regrets burning it down but she just told her that she don’t because its the place where she encountered a lot of hardships and where her child died. Luella told her to be careful because there are a lot of people who thinks she might get charged with arson but Katherine just disregarded it telling her that money is what works in Amadesto. She adds that they dumped her case before, now everyone will know who is more influential between her and Isadora. And incidentally, its her, they dumped Isadora’s case against her.

Sophia and Toby’s story is cute! Toby asked if there is food, but Sophia told him that they have just eaten and maybe he has a parasite in his stomach. He said that, yes he does! A dinosaur! (Well you’ve got to give it to this guy, he is still a growing boy! hehehe) He even said “Grrrr!”, even if he doesnt look like one! Anyways, Sophia thinks hes not funny. While Jenna thinks its good, she told Sophia that she is KJ (tagalog meaning uncool). Toby told them that Sophia is an old maid and even made a bet with Jenna that he will already have 3 children but Sophia will still be single. Sophia retorts that it is better to be an old maid than to have an immature husband like him then asked for Jenna’s opinion but she told her that she dont mind having one like that, then told Toby that she’ll cook for him and asked what he wants and tells him that she cooks well (Hmmm… is she flirting with him? Whoah! She likes him!)

When Jenna left, Toby asks for Sophia’s escort during her birthday, and told her that maybe he is not interested in her because he never communicated with her after that event. But, guess what! Someone is here, Jonas aka the escort! And he has the favorite bacon flavored pizza with him. Is my eyes deceiving me? But Toby looks jealous! She shows him inside and Toby left them.

Luella told Katherine that the hospital asked for her to pickup Martin’s things there but she is reluctant because she will just get sad if she sees it. She told Luella that she will be going to the mall to get things for Maggie. But Luella told her that she knows what she is doing. Katherine wants Maggie to get close to her and for the child to loose affection for her parents. Katherine agrees and told her that she’s correct! She is doing it because before, Miguel took everything from her, now she is going to take everything that belongs to him.

While Toby and Jenna are playing cards, Jonas and Sophia came. They spend time in Sophia’s room that got Toby irritated. Both Jenna and Toby went to spy on the two. Jonas told Sophia that he likes her and supposed to kiss her when the other two came barging in to prevent it. Toby then told everyone that he lost his wallet.

Scarlet and Isadora are discussing about Katherine and if she can still do something about his fathers will. But was advised by their family lawyer that there is nothing she can do about it. Isadora told her that whatever her plans are, she is always on her side to help her. Scarlet told Isadora that maybe the thing that her father and Kate are arguing that night might help to change the will. With this, Isadora told her that the reason Katherine and Martin is arguing is because of the transfer that they had made from Winnie, her fathers secretary. It got Scarlet thinking and started to cry. She told Isadora that maybe if they did not do that, her father might not have had a heart attack and passed away. But Isadora brainwashed her telling her that it is not her fault but Katherine’s.

Toby, Sophia and Jenna are searching their rooms for Toby’s lost wallet which has Php20,000 in it for his tuition, when Jenna left to look for his wallet downstairs, Toby nagged Sophia. Toby told Sophia that maybe the reason Sophia is angry is because they caught her and Jonas about to kiss. He told her that from now on, they will have a house rule that opposite sex are banned in their respective rooms. But Sophia disagreed so Toby told her that she will tell her brother and mom of the kiss. Then, Jenna came with Toby’s bag, she told him that she found his wallet inside and there is no money inside. (Ooops! Caught in his madeup lie!) Sophia just stared at him angrily and suspiciously.

Toby tried to call MIguel, Katherine answered the phone before he can tell her about the incident with the kiss Sophia was able to stop him.

Sophia and Toby are still having a row with each other, Mang Rolando told them that it may lead to love but they both said, “No way!”.

Katherine came and saw Mang Rolando. She was surprised to see him and asked what he is doing there. Sophia answered her and told her he was their handyman. Sophia angrily told Katherine to leave as she is not fit to hear anything that concerns her when Toby tried to tell her about the incidental kiss. With this she just left. Katherine drives home crying.

Sophia inquires Mang Rolando why Katherine’s reaction is like that. He told her that she is his daughter and told them that he worked with them to be able to see her. He left Amadesto because he is ashamed of himself when her wife died of heart attack after her bypass operation and left Katherine. He told them his story. He was imprisoned because of robbery, he wants to pay all his debt that is why he was sentenced. He also told them that he does not expect Katherine to forgive him.

Katherine told Rafael that she saw his father. She was surprised when he admitted that he knows that her father is here and that her father has been to prison. He did not tell her because she seems to take no importance to his father when she thinks she saw him in the restaurant when they were together. She told him that whatever happens, she cannot forgive him.

Mang Rolando approached Katherine and told her that he wants to talk and tell her why he disappeared. She told him not to call her daughter. She told him that she is very angry with him because her mother died because of him. And when he was left them, people are saying that he left because of another woman which caused her mothers death. But he told her that its not true, he loves her mother and he never loved another woman. And added that he lover her too. She told him that if she loved her, he would not have left her. She asked him if is it really because he loves her or because she is now very rich. She was so angry that she cant help but cry.

She took money from her wallet and throw them all to his father. And while crying, hurriedly left him.

Mang Rolando showed up at Lola Auria’s door, asking for forgiveness. But she blamed him for her daughters death, being thrown out of her own home and for what happened to Katherine. She angrily told him, that if he can correct all the wrong that he did, get back all things that was lost and erased all the pain that they received, maybe then, she can forgive him.

Scarlet came to look for Miguel in the office with food with her so that they can eat together. But was surprised to see him that his table is outside and Miguel told that it is his work area that got Scarlet angry with Katherine. He told her not to be bothered about it.

Scarlet to confront Katherine and angrily asked her why she put Miguel in that corner as a work area. Katherine told her that Miguel’s office is being renovated. Scarlet told her that the building has 15 floors and what if she was the one to dump Kate on a small area, what will she feel? But Katherine reminded her that she owns the company and that she is the president so she has no right to do that to question her. Scarlet told her that she has every right with it because she is a Dela Rhea and so is her husband.

Miguel became mad of all the bickering that he shouted to Scarlet to shut up. And then left both of them.

Iisa Pa Lamang Episode 20 Summary

After arguing with Katherine, Isadora finds out that Miguel’s desk is out of his office which angered her. He reasoned that his office is being repaired. And Isadora told him that he should not let Katherine manipulate him and have her way.

Mang Rolando kept going back to Sophia’s place and even asked if he could work there.  Sophia found out that he is and ex-convict which frightened her. Mang Rolando found out that Toby is Rafael’s brother,

The hospital was evacuated according to Katherine’s command and was completely burned. Before this she went inside and recalled the time when she was imprisoned in the said building. Isadora found out that it was all Katherine’s doing.

Katherine talks to Martin’s tomb about what she did with the hospital, trying to justify it why she did it. While Lola Aura believes that after her revenge, her heart will be filled with hatred and anger, burning her own soul.

Sophia is taking all measurements to ensure their safety, even having their door padlocked to make sure that they will be protected from Mang Rolando. But Toby told her not to bother too much because if his Kuya Rafael defended Mang Rolando in court, there is a great posibility that he is a good person. Which i think, Sophia believed him.

Miguel was so angry when he found out what Catherine did to the hospital but she just flirted with him and made him more angry, he just stepped back and left her.

Isadora rushed to see Catherine and confronted her why she burned down the hospital. She told her that she had no right to do that. Catherine told her ,” What will you do, sue me? How is that? How will you sue someone who owns the hospital? Because 90% of it is owned by Martin, which is now mine. What will your 10% do? Oh, the parking lot is still intact, im giving it to you.” Isadora went berserk, she wants to hurt her but one of her staff hastily went inside with two guards with him. She told them that there is nothing to worry and to leave. When they left, she told Isadora,”The situation is different now, I have so much money and i can buy anything, even you! How much are you?!”. Isadora replied, “You b%$#h! You cant buy me and can never buy me!”. Catherine retorted, “Anyway, i dont want you, your cheap! But your child, will you sell her? Come on, promise, i wont bargain. Even if its used goods, its ok. Think about it…” Isadora left her.

While dining with Rafael, Catherine thinks she saw her father but was not so sure about it. It is later revealed that she is angry with her father for not making her promise to comeback for her after her mother died.

Meanwhile, Sophia became close to Mang Rolando. Where he found out that she is Isadora’s daughter. Scarlet is crying over her father and telling him on her own that she loves her father so much. Catherine found out that Lola Aura still does not want to eat the food that she is buying for them. While talking to Luella, Catherine told her that she thinks she saw her father then doubted it because why would he comeback now. Luella told them that maybe the reason is because he found out that she is already rich. They tried to ask Lola Aura why her father left but she just shrugged it off and told them not to bother with useless things.

At the office, Luella asked Katherine to use private investigators to find her father but she told her that there is no need to do that because he has never been a father to her.

Mang Rolando asked for Isadora’s whereabouts to Rafael. But he told him not to look for her because she and Katherine are now enemies. He told him specifically that Isadora threw them out of their house because of Mang Rolando’s debt when Catherine’s mother was hospitalized. Mang Rolando felt that he cant face Catherine anymore because he was the reason why her daughter’s life was ruined.

Catherine bought a gift for Maggie, the little girl was thankful but Scarlet came in and dragged her daughter out. Catherine tried to follw Scarlet and told her not to involve the kid with their fight and that she just bought her a gift. But Scarlet told her that her daughter has many of those then left her.

Miguel confronted Catherine and told her not to involve his daughter in their fight. But she told him that no matter what happens Maggie is her grandchild, and if he doesnt want to accept it then to leave the house. He told her that she knows that Scarlet will never leave the place. But Catherine just asked, ” Is it the reason? How bout you, what is your reason?,” and tried to touch his face.

Iisa Pa Lamang Episode 19 Summary

The family lawyer read Martin’s will. In the will, he left Scarlet with a trust fund while Kate is given his shares of Hacienda Amadesto, all his properties valuing over a billion pesos, and the Dela Rhea Foods is given to her. That made Scarlet so mad. She cannot believe that her father left everything to Katherine.

Isadora confronted Katherine and told her how she is all so happy with the recent developments but not be too confident because she is still there and very much alive.

Martin was buried. Isadora even asked the lawyer if there is a chance that the last will was not legal if in case Martin wanted to change it but did not have a chance because he died, and added that she saw Katherine and Martin arguing before they left the party. But to her dismay, the lawyer told her that even if that is the case, event if the intention is there but the changes were not executed, what is written in the paper is what is valid and binding.  After that, she told Scarlet that everything is not yet finished and that they will get everthing back from Katherine.

Meanwhile, Katherine is grieving in her loss. She was thankful to Martin and told him at his tomb that she never wanted to hurt him.

As Katherine and Rafael are already in good terms, she asked him to be her personal lawyer.

Luella told Lola Aura about the funeral and told her how lucky Katherine is but she just retorted, ‘But is she happy?’. Katherine is shown, she is crying and very miserable.

In the company, she starts with a company meeting and told everyone that nothing will change and she will continue what her husband started. Alone, she is wondering what new chapter in life she is going to face and that if she can do all the responsibilities left to her. In the end, she told herself that she can do it.

Rafael finds out that Scarlet is having a background check on Katherine and wants to see if there are loopholes in her fathers last will and testament. On the other hand, Rafael is sad that Katherine is now very rich and because of this he cannot reach him anymore. And with all the money that she has, he cannot help but to admit that she does not need him anymore.

Scarlet confronts Katherine and told her that she will get everything back from her but she told her, “Ok, lets play, tug-of-war of wealth! But if i were you, i will be fearful, because i am used to being poor, but how about you?…” Server her right! Hehehe

Miguel talks to Scarlet and told her that they should go back to America but Scarlet does not want to go back even if it was their previously plan. She told Miguel that she still needs time to grieve.

In the meeting, Katherine inquires about the earnings of Hacienda Amadesto. And as even when Martin was still alive, Hacienda Amadesto declares questionable earnings and expences by Isadora, she told them to investigate the matter.

Isadora confronts Katherine about the people that she sent to audit and observe the Hacienda, and told her not to bother it. But Katherine reminded her she has the right because Martin owned half of it, and adds that he has many shares in all her properties: the house she is living in, the copra plantation, and even the horses. And also the Castillejos Memorial Hospital where Isadora locked her up! She told her that if Isadora wants, they could easily make a partition using a string in all their properties. Isadora was so angry and told her that she is greedy. She told her that it is a very heavy word and told her, “But yes, its true. Yes, i am greedy, and i want you not to have anything even a cent! So you should start shaking in fear, because i will exhause all the ground that you are standing.” This left Isadora speachless and well, i think, shaking in fear.

This is the start of her revenge!

Iisa Pa Lamang Episode 18 Summary

Just an info, something that i made mistake of, Maxim isn’t owned by ABS-CBN. ABS-CBN is just a publisher for Maxim Philippines. Hope this clear things out.

FYI (For your information) I’m not selling sex here! Never will be!

If you don’t get this, it means you’re missing out on what’s on Filipino TV. Yes, there’s currently a new trend going on soap operas/telenovelas. The trend is what I call “sex-on-filipino-family-tv”!

Again, I will be referring to ABS-CBN  tv series because I only have TFC (The Filipino Channel).

Did any one even notice the trend? I bet some of you didn’t. Because some of you are a fool for this kind (dramas) of tv series. ABS-CBN have currently been airing tv series that incorporates sex on some episodes. From what I can remember these are Ligaw na Bulaklak & Maligno, & now Iisa Pa Lamang & soon coming, Eva Fonda. Even their news program, TV Patrol, also promotes sex. And they proudly promote it.

I admit it, I’m not wholesome. But the topic here is not me, it’s ABS-CBN & it’s tv series. ABS-CBN used to be the leading broadcaster of wholesome tv shows, but because of their new culture, I guess ABS-CBN is now a promoter of sex. They even have their own men’s magazine, Maxim.

Let’s start off with Maligno. I was shocked when I saw the first trailer that was shown on TFC & started asking my self, is it now allowed to show naked actors & having sex? The worst part is, Maligno was meant to be a family oriented tv series. And yes they did show it on during family time viewing of tv. Oh, what was the scene on Maligno like? Doggy-style! *barking*

Ligaw na Bulaklak is a show starred by Roxanne Guinoo, from the Star Circle Quest fame. The tv series incorporates in their story about women working in a night club. There are also some conversations talks about sex. I was even shocked on one episode. This was the part, Lea’s (Roxanne) dad was asking the guy managing the club that if ever a girl named Jennifer was to apply, he should inform him about it. I can’t really remember the actual conversation that was going but it was something on the line like, “Oy! Do you have sexual fantasies with a girl named Jennifer?”. If you watch Ligaw na Bulaklak again, you’ll find that scene. There was no sex in those line, what are you talking about? Ah-ha, those lines are not the kind of lines that you would normally say to a child, right? And you that it sounds explicit, right? Yes this show is also aired during family time.

Because ABS-CBN owns TV Patrol & Maxim, they use their news program to promote their men’s magazine. This is also on the time that everyone, yes everyone including the kids, is tuning on the news. What is shown on the news? Semi-naked ladies & basically using explicit language that is inappropriate for a news program to say. It is also inappropriate for a news program to promote sex magazines.

Iisa Pa Lamang is also a tv series that promotes sex. Not? Watch their ads again, you’ll see what I mean. I don’t know what it is that every time it’s Cluadine Barreto starring on it, sex is always there. Even her movies have sex scenes. Whay don’t she just be a “bold star” (as Filipinos call it; sex star)? At her age, it’s not too late to break into adult industry. Rica Peralejo did good, I think she will be better.

Though Eva Fonda hasn’t been shown yet. It is understandable that, yes sex is also part of it. I mean, who wouldn’t think that sex isn’t part of it if Christine Reyes is starring it?

I guess with this “sex-on-filipino-family-tv” trend working so well, the days of close-your-eyes-when-there’s-a-kissing-scene is now fading. I remember growing up always being told to close my eyes even if it’s only a kissing scene.

Tv series that contains sex scenes can be excused in Filipino tv if it is aired responsibly. The broadcasters should think of what is the right time to air them. When kids are already on their bed.

MTRCB (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board) should act on this. They should also rewrite their classifications. Shows that contains sex is still classified PG. Even horror shows are classified PG.

Touted as former matinee idol Gabby Concepcion’s teleserye debut, the Ruel Bayani-Manny Palo megged drama series Iisa Pa Lamang will air its pilot episode this Monday, July 14. It boasts of a powerhouse cast, which includes Claudine Barretto, Diether Ocampo, Susan Roces, Cherry Pie Picache, Joel Torre, Angelica Panganiban, and Laurice Guillen.

“More than the casting, it’s really the overall story and its elements that made all of us fall in love,” said Direk Ruel about their new project during the July 8 press conference at the Plaza Ibarra restaurant in Quezon City.

LOVE AND TRAGEDY. In the story, Catherine Ramirez (Claudine) is a provincial lass loved by two men—Miguel Castillejos (Diether) and Raphael Torralba (Gabby). The three childhood friends remain close even as they live different lives. But because of an evil plan concocted by Miguel’s mother Isadora (Cherry Pie Picache), Catherine’s beautiful and peaceful life will be shattered. She will fall into an abyss of lies, deceit, and betrayal.

After marrying a rich haciendero, Isadora is the most powerful woman in Amadesto, Batangas. She always has to have her way especially when it comes to Catherine and her loving grandmother Aura (Ms. Susan Roces), who serves as Catherine’s inspiration and source of strength. In the midst of the problems and challenges they face, the two continue to hope and fight for what is rightfully theirs.

Due to his mother’s insistence, Miguel weds the wealthy Scarlet dela Rhea (Angelica Panganiban) without Catherine’s knowledge. Catherine is overcome by hatred and wants to seek revenge. Even so, Raphael continues to be there for her. His love for Catherine is pure, even if his mother Estelle (Laurice Guillen), who happens to be Isadora’s friend, disapproves of his choice.

Catherine will try her utmost best to recover from her painful past while weighing her feelings for both Miguel and Raphael.

EVERYTHING’S REAL. Joining the cast of Iisa Pa Lamang are Jaime Fabregas, Bembol Roco and the young love team of Matt Evans and Melissa Ricks.

Gabby complimented the writers—Arlene Tamayo and Headwriter Ma. Regina Amigo—for doing a good job with the script of Iisa Pa Lamang. “Ang buhay naman po talaga ng pelikula o kahit na anong palabas ay ang mga writers. Dahil kung wala po sila, hindi po mabubuo ang ganitong kaganda na palabas,” said the comebacking actor.

Much has been, of course, about the dramatic scenes of the series, which according to Cherry Pie were all “totoo.” The physical and emotional demands, particularly on the lead actors, were also enormous.

Talking about her kissing scenes, Claudine revealed that she and Diether drank a bit of wine first to ease their nerves. “Para na kasi kaming magkapatid, we grew up together, kaya siguro may ilang,” she explained. She even added that she’s more comfortable with Gabby simply because she does not share any personal relationship with him.

“Pero siyempre meron pa din [uneasiness] pero hindi ganun katulad kay Diether,” she added with a smile.

While “Iisa Pa Lamang” will be aired at ABS-CBN, “Codename: Asero” will also be airing at GMA. Both at their pilot episodes. We still don’t know what is the exact time these two will be aired. Or both were to be aired at the same time to be rivals at primetime. One, full of drama while the other is full of action. Which do you prefer? Drama or Sci-fi action? Which will reign supreme?
