Soko

SoKo est une jeune artiste que je trimbale depuis pas mal de temps maintenant dans mon jolie petit ipod. Elle m’accompagne un peu partout où je vais, c’est un vrai régale d’ambiancer les scènes de notre vie quotidienne avec cette musique. Impossible d’imaginer qu’elle ne puisse plus faire partie de ma playlist Pop/Folk cela serai inconcevable pour moi. Vu que je suis très partageur et super généreux, je ne pouvais m’empêcher de vous la présenter. Je l’ai découvert avec le titre “I’ll kill her“, sans doute le plus connu d’ailleurs, morceau racontant l’histoire d’une jeune fille qui se monte un délire paranoïaque à propos de son mec qui devait l’appeler et que finalement non. Alors elle s’imagine le pire : que ce n’est pas quelqu’un de fidèle. Blondasse, jalousie, et haine sont aux rendez-vous. Paru en 2007, Not Sokute est son premier album à son actif. Je vous conseille vivement et chaudement d’écouter les morceaux suivants : I’ll kill her, Shitty Day et Take My Heart.

SoKo – I’ll kill her

Me impresiona la capacidad que tiene algunas personas para crear animaciones, en este caso Joerg Barton utilizó Cinema 4D, 3D animation y After Effects para llegar a la increíble animación que ven al principio. Hace mucho tiempo que no veía un trabajo que me maravillara tanto como este además la canción se taladró en mi cerebro y no la puedo dejar de escuchar.

She has the sweetest and most beautiful voice I have ever heard. Plus, she has a filthy mind and a lovely face.

I missed her on a UK tour supporting MIA in 2007 :’(
But she has done a few festivals, including the Sunset Sounds festival this year, so maybe there is a chance I will get to see her beautiful face. Maybe I will ask her if I can touch it and she can teach me some french and we will become friends and make music, together..

• Elle est Francaise, elle est actrice et elle chante merveilleusement bien. Ses chansons sont en anglais et pourtant ce sont les seules que j’arrive a comprendre! Soko est suprenante et attachante.

• Elle a pour l’instant sortit qu’un Ep auto-produit en 2007 nommé Not Sokute. Dans ses titres on ressent tres vite ce coté cinematique, theatrale qu’elle veut nous faire vivre. I’ll Kill Her le demontre parfaitement avec un scenario tourné vers la Jalousie, l’Amour, la Vengeance qui flote autour des histoires de couples. Malgre son talent, Soko avait prevu de sortir un Album mais semble prendre une pause dans le monde de la musique.

El artista Joerg Barton hizo su propia version del video clip y la verdad que le quedo muy buena.

This makes me giggle every single time. Love it!

Är helt besatt av Soko just nu. Hon är aningen galen, quirky och söt som socker.

Soko of “I’ll kill her” fame quits her music career and starts acting.

She also moved to LA. and is a vegan.

Eigentlich nicht mehr wirklich ein Newcomer, wobei bis jetzt noch kein Album erschienen ist. Soko ist eine Künsterlin die ihre Wurzeln in Frankreich hat, sie zog aber letztes Jahr nach LA, um da auf eigene Faust ein Album zu produzieren. Auf ihrer MySpace Seite heisst es neuerding im Namen “Soko is dead” wobei ich das nicht wirklich glauben kann da sie unter diesem Namen wohl auch Konzerte spielt. Man wird sehen wie es weiter geht.

Hier mal meine Anspieltips für alle an denen Soko bis jetzt vorbei gelaufen ist.

J’ai découvert SoKo il y a quelques mois sur TRACKS, émission un peu inquiétante sur Arte où l’on peut toute fois dénicher quelques perles. Je dis inquiétante parce que juste avant SoKo il y avait un reportage sur un groupe de Punk nudistes.

Je ne me suis pas tout de suite rendue compte que je connaissais déjà mademoiselle Sokolinski pour l’avoir aperçue sur l’affiche de quelques films français (pas excellents, bon). D’ailleurs ses délires sur le trac, le fait d’avoir peur d’être reconnue dans la rue m’ont laissée perplexe. Mais que diable fout une fille qui tient autant à passer inaperçue dans le monde de la musique et du cinéma ?
Et puis ils ont diffusé un live avec sur scène elle, ses magic boots et son ukulélé, et je me suis tout de suite foutue de toutes ces ambiguïtés.
Elle a une jolie voix, sans doute pas exceptionnelle mais agréable à écouter. Petit univers confortable pour se blottir et écouter des textes drôles et saugrenus. On dirait la bande son de la vie de Miss tout le monde.
Certaines chansons traitent encore de complexes (Shitty Day, I think I’m Pregnant) mais qu’est ce qu’elle a l’air décomplexée en les  psalmodiant! Il y en a des joyeuses, des un peu folles…Mes préférées restent I Will Never Love You More et The Dandy Cowboys qui me refilent toujours le sourire.

Ceux qui ne connaissent que son single le plus médiatisé I’ll Kill Her, il serait temps d’écouter le reste de sa discographie. Ce sera malheureusement vite fait car elle n’a enregistré que très peu de chansons pour ensuite se retirer du bisness…C’est dommage d’être privé d’un talent aussi évident mais voyons le bon côté des choses : elle au moins a opté pour une solution moins radicale que Kurt Cobain.

Ah, je crois que c’est l’une des rares chanteuses dont je comprends absolument l’accent anglais, et pourtant elle n’est pas anglaise.

Soko – a girl who’s dangerously cute, is a new folk pop French singer and actress (born Stéphanie Sokolinski). She has appeared in several French movies and got her start as a singer after she asked the director if she could sing on screen. Her style is quite fun and the lyrics are full of imperfections, but her french accent and raspy but girly vocal charm makes up for any shortcomings. She’s really like a french Kate Nash.

She sings about wanting to kill a bitch who stole her boyfriend, about her hair being greasy, about hats and boots getting along together. And she makes it sound so… real. She’s expressing emotions of a girl who’s a bit crazy, but really no different from any other girl. Cute.
