Where do I start? The game takes after Zenonia in a few ways from the interface to the quick gameplay. You can choose from three classes

• The healthy warrior, Ares.
• The powerful mage, Angela.
• The quick assassin, Chris.

The storyline is based around the heroes saving Dream World, each one literally sheltering the desire to be stronger than the next. What’s even more fun about these three classes is that their armor (and of course weapons) are all different; and it’s not all about looking so tough.

Just like the Zenonia series, you are eventually provided with a fairy companion named Ede. As Ede levels up, he gains new skills that seem to be more for utility than for combat. For instance, he will be able to detect hidden paths that contain treasure.

Illusia also contains the roleplay aspect, but with more emphasis on action. The fast action and leveling will have you playing a good hour or two before you put your handheld down. I literally played a little over an hour to get to level 25, which isn’t bad considering I was having fun running errands for the NPC’s. Of course, these are your usual farming requests, but some of these quests will help you gain equips or enhancements for later levels.

Not only that, this game includes multiple challenge modes such as rush mode, mission mode, and pvp (which I will get to in a moment).

As for PvP, it’s not your usual one-on-one, sword swinging type of competition. Both opponents are separated and given their own map that is spammed with mobs. As you defend yourself from the mobs, you wait for special debuffs and pick-ups to attack your opponent. As non-traditional as it is, it does take a moment to get used to. I’ll even admit myself that I didn’t enjoy it much, but of course it’s not required to enjoy the game.

This game is promising to say the least. With a fun storyline that most ages can grasp and an addicting fast-paced gameplay style, Illusia will have you clutching your iPod or Android for hours.

A definite must-play for those who are looking to pass the time.
