Siguiendo con la línea del curso, otro de los temas tratados fueron las plataformas de la web 2.0. En este contexto elegimos 3 plataformas, de las cuales debimos investigar y presentar vía powerpoint frente al curso.

Las plataformas fueron Flickr, imageshack y wordpress. Flickr es un sitio que permite almacenar, ordenar, buscar y compartir fotografias y videos online que nace, en febrero del 2004, como parte de un videojuego multiusuario; WordPress, es un sistema de gestión de contenido enfocado a la creación de blogs; e ImageShack, es un sitio de alojamiento gratuito de imagenes.

We all are born photographers arent we? Anyway, these days the trouble doesnt end there, you have to upload the photo somewhere to share it with others. There are loads of image uploading sites on the web. Some of them are really popular and some popular but useless. So, here’s my take on some of them.

Flickr happens to be perhaps the most popular image uploading site. However it does have an uploading limit. So, basically its useful for posting private/family photos, but not for using it as a source for pics on your blog. And of course as with all yahoo services, you need to register to start uploading.

I learnt about a really cool image uploading site today called Imgur, which lets you do a whole lot of stuff apart from letting you upload your pics and it has a really cool interface. No registration is needed to upload. But the problem with it is, your images get deleted if they dont receive a ‘hit’ in 3 months. So basically if you have a huge blog which isnt very popular and you dont go through your really old posts at least once in 3 months, your images get deleted.

Photobucket is good, great options etc. but way too many ads for my liking. I dont feel like using it even for my family pics! You also require a registration to upload.

Finally, Imageshack. I’m sure most of you have used at some point in time, but fact is imageshack is the best we have! You dont need to register to upload images, your images get deleted only when they dont receive a hit at least once in 1 year (pretty reasonable), and if you register, your images dont get deleted at all! Plus, there are loads and loads of options (more for registered users). Registration, as with all these services, is free.

Back in January ImageShack.us paid an undisclosed sum to Steven Baxt to aquire the domain name ImageShack.com. Ownership of the domain name changed hands on the 20th of that month. ImageShack attempted to obtain the domain via WIPO in 2005 but  were denied. At the time of the transaction the domain had 35,000 unique visitors a month. We wrote an article that described an unamed start-up that was attempting to enter a market where they’re fighting multiple eight hundred pound gorillas with an obscure company name and a .us domain extension. It’s not necessary to have a category killing domain, but it certainly helps. I would say that in most cases you should secure the .com (or at least the .net) extension of your company name. 95% of the time if your company takes off you’re going to end up paying for it anyway. Most likely it will be a much higher premium.

ImageShack continues to use the .us extension as their url address.

Found a nice little script on mroddball.wordpress.com. It uses curl to upload images to ImageShack:

You can use grep to parse the image link from the xml file:

Salve a tutti!

A grande richiesta, ecco a voi un facile tutorial per caricare un’immagine dal vostro PC direttamente su Internet utilizzando il sito di uploading gratuito IMAGESHACK.
Cercheremo qui di spiegare che cos’è la fantomatica URL di un’immagine ( quella che dovrete spedire nel caso a The B Experiment) e come ricavarla dalle immagini appena caricate sul sito.

Vi premetto che questa procedura è davvero molto semplice e sbrigativa, e che passata l’incertezza iniziale la svolgerete in modo del tutto automatico.
Beh cominciamo:

1. Sito ImageShack:  http://imageshack.us/

Ci rechiamo sul sito di ImageShack seguendo il link qui sopra. I primi passi di questo tutorial riguarderanno la creazione di un account, quindi se siete già registrati potete proseguire direttamente al punto n. 5.

2. Clicchiamo su SIGN UP ( ovvero la REGISTRAZIONE ) e compiliamo i seguenti campi:

• - e-mail ( necessariamente reale,vedremo poi perchè)
• - conferma e-mail
• - nickname ( il nome utente che utilizzeremo su Imageshack)
• - sesso
• - data di nascita.

Insomma tutto.

Ora clicchiamo su REGISTER ( la registrazione è assolutamente gratuita).

3. Riceveremo ora una MAIL DI CONFERMA di questo tipo.

Clicchiamo su “Your registration link” e annotiamo la PASSWORD ( che potremo successivamente cambiare)

4 . Bene, a questo punto abbiamo un account su Imageshack!

5. Accediamo tramite il tasto LOGIN e compiliamo i campi USERNAME e PASSWORD con i dati in nostro possesso.

6. Ci troviamo ora nel nostro PROFILO privato, contenente le immagini che abbiamo caricato fino a questo momento.

7. Per CARICARE un’immagine clicchiamo sul tasto UPLOAD IMAGE. In alternativa possiamo utilizzare UPLOAD MULTIPLE IMAGES per caricare più files contemporaneamente.

8. Tramite il tasto SFOGLIA cerchiamo il file nel nostro PC.
Una volta reperitolo clicchiamo su UPLOAD per caricare l’immagine su Internet. ImageShack lo inserirà automaticamente fra le altre immagini.

9. Quello che ci serve ora per completare la nostra procedura è la URL dell’immagine.
Che cos’è? Semplicemente l’indirizzo di quella immagine su Internet ( esatto, non solo i siti web hanno un indirizzo eh già..)

10. Per rintracciare la URL ci sono a questo punto moltissimi modi. Ve ne illustro uno per tutti.
Fra le immaginette lungo il lato destro della nostra immagine troviamo ( seconda in ordine discendente)  IMAGE DETAILS.

11. Nella pagina che si aprirà troveremo la URL nella casella DIRECT LINK . Possiamo ora copiarla e incollarla dove vogliamo.

Ecco quindi spiegato il processo di upload, oramai alquanto comune e alla portata di molti. Aggiungo in conclusione che ImageShack offre un programma per il caricamento di immagini dal vostro PC senza dover effettuare l’accesso dal browser ( Internet Explorer,Firefox, ecc.) chiamato ImageShack Uploader (assolutamente gratuito) che potrebbe rivelarsi utile per coloro che, come me, si trovano a dover caricare frequentemente contenuti sul Web.

Ecco qui. Abbiamo finito. Vorrei pregare quelli di voi che sono veramente poco abituati all’uso di Internet (escludendo Facebook ed MSN) di non farsi spaventare dall’apparente intrico di nomi e procedure. Questo genere di operazioni rientra veramente nell’ABC dell’utente medio e non richiede alcuna particolare conoscenza informatica.

E’ alla portata di tutti.

Ci tengo a sottolineare che questo tutorial è riferito ad ImageShack, ma Internet è strabordante di siti gratuiti che svolgono la stessa funzione, quindi non esimetevi dall’andare a cercare quello più adatto ai vostri bisogni!

Yet again I had to upload some photos, but having so many of them I thought imageshack would be better and cheaper option than to host them on my site. The only problem was, how to upload that many files without using zip file option, which (afaik) has a limit, or uploading each photo separately. After some time I found python/perl/php scripts that used curl, but those scripts were imo way too long and sometimes overcomplicated. I looked up output of some curl lines and put one of them in bash script.

Output of this command is pure XML, you should really check it out. The script is here pastebin. Easiest way of using it is just to ./up2imgshack picture.jpg, but since I had many files the line for me was

With this little tool you can very easily upload pictures to www.tinypic.com, www.imageshack.us and www.messyshare.com without having to go through their website. You can enable shell link integration and simply Right-click the file and select “Send to TinyPic/Imageshack/MessyShare“ or drag the file to the app. window and it will automatically start uploading.

Consiste en un script para nautilus empaquetado en .deb que nos facilita la tarea de subir las imágenes a nuestro servidor favorito (Imageshack), después de instalarlo lo único que tenemos que hacer para subir una imagen es dar click izquierdo, seleccionar la opción y listo el script se encargará de todo

Amatör bir fotoğrafçı olarak çektiğim kareleri online olarak bir yerde saklama ve paylaşma fikri, 2004 yılında yeni aldığım digital fotoğraf makinam ile çektiğim – yaklaşık 2 aylık -  fotoğrafların bilgisayarımın sabit diskinin bozulması ile kaybolması sonrası ortaya çıktı. Tabii gerek fotoğrafları depolayacağım online alanın sınırlı olması gerekse gizlilik nedeniyle çektiğim tüm fotoğrafları online olarak saklamak mümkün olmasa da, beğendiğim kareleri bir araya getirmek istedim. Bu yolla; hem bu kareleri disk yada depolama birimi arızası gibi nedenlerle kaybetme riskini ortadan kaldırıyor hem de bu fotoğrafları paylaşabiliyorum.

Fotoğrafları online depolama hizmeti sunan pekçok site var. Picasa, Flickr, PhotoBucket, SmugMug vb… Ben bu amaçla Google’ın Picasa Web Albümleri‘ni kullanıyorum.

Picasa Web Albümleri’nin önemli artılarından biri kendi sahip olduğu yazılım: Picasa.

Picasa hakkında detaylara web sitesinde bulabilirsiniz; bence fotoğrafçılıkla amatör olarak uğraşan ama Photoshop benzeri gelişmiş yazılımları öğrenmek için zaman ayıramayanlar için sahip olunması gereken yazılımlardan biri.

Com certeza a melhor qualidade do Twitter é a rapidez com que ele é capaz de alcançar sejam amigos (uso pessoal), possíveis consumidores (uso empresarial), fãs (uso por celebridades em geral e marcas), como meio de promoção e publicidade(seja pessoal ou empresarial) e como divulgador de notícias (sejam por pessoas ou por rede de noticias).

O Twitter

O site é de fácil acesso só é necessário fazer seu cadastro (login/senha/você precisa ter um e-mail).

Ao entrar você deve criar o seu perfil e decidir coisas básicas que vão de plano de fundo do seu microblog até sobre a sua privacidade.

E você já pode usufruir desse novo mundo. Por tratar-se de um microblog, toda a mensagem deve ter no máximo 140 caracteres, eu recomendo 130 no máximo pois isso facilita os RT (Re-Tweets), isto é quando alguém encaminhar dentro do seu próprio Twitter algo que você enviou como mensagem.

Ao entrar no Twitter você deve procurar no Search pessoas, empresas e assuntos de seu interesse. A partir daí você começa a receber as atualizações desses que você segue (following) e proporciona visibilidade a você o que cria também seguidores seus (followers).

A princípio você pode achar estranho e se sentir limitado, contudo com o tempo você vai descobrir que existem muitas ferramentas que tornam o Twitter mais interessante a cada dia.

As ferramentas e o ecossistema criado em seu entorno

O Twitter possui ferramentas que possibilitam o não somente o envio de mensagens (Tweets) mas também o encaminhamento de imagens e links reduzidos, possui também a possibilidade de atualização pelo celular através de SMS e programas que facilitam e otimizam sua utilização.

Eu utilizo o TweetDeck , que é um dos programas que facilitam a utilização do site. No TweetDeck é possível saber quem fez citação ao seu Twitter, mensagens diretas, as mensagens de quem você segue (follow) e postar a mesma mensagem do Twitter automaticamente no seu Facebook, no entanto ele é grande e tem muitos que não gostam. Existem outras opções como Twitterfox , que é um addons para quem utiliza o Firefox como navegador, já o Twhirl é pequeno e muito bonito visualmente e possui versão para IPhone.

Existe também site que servem para criar outras funções para o Twitter, como:

Esse site serve para você checar a sua popularidade dentro do Twitter, possui opções de saber quem te segue e não é seguido por você e vice e versa, o que é bem útil já que essa é uma das dificuldades para quem acessa o Twitter da página do mesmo. E o passarinho dançando Moonwalker enquanto se abre o site é lindo^^.

Este site serve para você criar um novo layout para o seu Microblog de maneira fácil e rápida se você optar por fazer tudo enquanto logado no site e ao final da operação será possível fazer a atualização da sua página não só do plano de fundo como também a personalização das cores do seu Twitter (fontes/links/caixas de texto).

Por falar em @rosana, ela é  uma ótima pessoa para se seguir, já que ela posta novidades relevantes a todo momento e parece ser uma pessoa apaixonada pelo que faz.

Empresas

O número de empresas no Twitter tanto nos US e no Brasil vem aumentando a cada dia, com a descoberta das possibilidades de ações de marketing dentro do mesmo. Em julho foi lançado pelo Twitter um site que dá dicas as empresas sobre como melhor utilizá-lo de modo coorporativo, o Twitter 101 , o site é em inglês.

A algum tempo as empresas vem percebendo como as redes sociais (mídias sociais) em geral vem sendo um canal bem eficaz para a comunicação com seus consumidores e o Twitter possui uma grande vantagem no quesito velocidade. Para se divulgar uma promoção ou comunicar alguma novidade da empresa não há local mais adequado para se propagar essa ação ou notícia. Em minutos essa mensagem terá corrido e passado pelo conhecimento de milhares de pessoas de for postada e colocada do jeito correto.

O Twitter não deve ser utilizado apenas como meio para divulgar, mas para interagir. O contato direto com consumidor deve ser freqüente e respeitoso. Assim a empresa (marca) se torna algo simpático ao seu público alvo. A meu ver as promoções com base em RT (Re-Tweets) devem ser bem dosadas a fim de não ficarem parecendo algo imposto e chato. A divulgação deve ser feita de maneira simpática e efetiva e não obsessiva .

Em caso de reclamação de algum consumidor este deve ser respondido de maneira clara ou convidado a acionar o canal competente a fim de solucionar rapidamente o seu problema. Não enrole, não abuse da inteligência do mesmo e se possível responda já dando a solução da questão apontada.

Publicidade

De acordo com a primeira pesquisa realizada pelo Bullet, em maio de 2009: 54% maioria do usúrarios do Twitter acha interessante a publicidade desde que essa seja segmentada, 6% não se incomodam de jeito algum e 15% acha boa qualquer publicidade. Apenas 25%, doe entrevistados  se enquadram nos que não gostam e apenas toleram.

Dentre todos os que participaram da pesquisa, 69% já seguiram empresas, eventos ou camapnha publicitárias ocorridas no microblog.

O perfil do usuário brasileiro do Twitter

Os microblogueiros daqui, são considerado de Heavy Users, isto significa quase 50 horas por semana conectados.E é formado principalmente por:

Homens – 61%

21 a 30 anos – 65,51%

Solteiros – 82,8%

Morador do Estado de SP – 46%

Ensino Superior em Curso – 37,6%

Ensino Superior Concluído – 31,7%

For the past three days I have been maintaining my blog, switching image host site from ImageShack to Photobucket.

I use to use Photobucket but I switch it to ImageShack about half a year ago due to banned account.   ( I didn’t know they have the PG13 rule -__-)

The reason for why I’m switching it back is because ImageShack’s server crash too often.  They also lose your images when their server crashes, which is a pain for blogger like me to try to find which images got deleted, and re uploading them.

PS-  I got sick on the second day of the maintenance, and couldn’t even get out of my bed since my head feel like it’s gonna explode. That is why the whole thing took me three days.  I’m all better now though, I’m a quick sicker and a quick…curer? LOL

They decided to hack imageshack to bring attention to some security flaw which they allege was allowed to exist by security software providers fully disclosing the weakness. I do know the word “Script Kiddies” means inexperienced punks who often literally copy/paste code–IE the opposite of a true hacker who knows how a system works to find a weakness. I guess these guys are saying even some amateurs could do serious damage.
