IMAPSize is a freeware Windows application that allows you to quickly and efficiently manage your IMAP mail accounts. It is not another mail client. The main purpose of IMAPSize is to locate space consuming folders and allow you to manage them, hence putting your storage quota under control. To accomplish this task IMAPSize offers a variety of useful (and some unique) operations.

Bhé provatelo anche voi no?

Today we released 2 major enhancements that will help you pull yourself together with threadsy even

Today we released 2 major enhancements that will help you pull yourself together with threadsy even more.

Additional email address support with IMAP
As of today, you can add any email address that supports IMAP to threadsy. IMAP is the standard protocol for reading your email online from any computer.

So in addition to Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and AOL, you can now check your school, work, and other email addresses directly in threadsy. If you don’t know if your email accounts support IMAP, check with your email provider.

How to add an IMAP account
If you’re an existing threadsy user, go to ‘settings’ and in the email accounts tab, type your full email address and password and click ‘add’.

threadsy will try to add your email address automatically, but if it fails to recognize it, you’ll see this:

Click ‘yes’ and then you’ll see the IMAP settings page. threadsy puts in some default settings for you to try. If these don’t work, you’ll need to type in the proper settings. Ask your email service provider for the right settings.

Twitter Oauth support
As many of you requested, today we added support for twitter’s recommended Oauth access. Oauth is twitter’s secure method of signing into your account that doesn’t require threadsy to store your twitter passwords. An added benefit is improved stability with threadsy – no more annoying login popups like some of you’ve experienced.

Switching to Twitter Oauth (existing users only)
All existing threadsy users will be required to reauthorize their Twitter accounts the next time they log in to threadsy. You must reauthorize each twitter account you previously added to threadsy. If you choose not to reauthorize an account, it will be removed from threadsy. You can always add it back in ’settings’

Also: improved settings
New today, an extensive overhaul to the threadsy settings page to make it much easier to use. Now it’s divided into 3 sections: email accounts, social network accounts (Facebook and Twitter), and general. Note that we’ve moved the sound on/off control to the general tab.

We’ve also rolled out these changes to the sign up, so when you invite your friends to threadsy, it will be even easier for them to ‘pull themselves together.’ And yes, invite friends feature coming soon!

The IMAP server in my office is configured to not simply accept username/password authenticated conn

The IMAP server in my office is configured to not simply accept username/password authenticated connections from the internet. As an additional security measure, it requires the client to present a valid SSL client certificate, issued by the internal CA, resulting in mutual SSL authentication.

The Mail client on the iPhone, on the other hand, does not support SSL client certificates. While it is possible to deploy a client certificate using the iPhone configuration utility, this cert will only be presented to web servers, but not to mail servers.

My workaround is to use stunnel, the universal SSL wrapper, on the iPhone. This, of course, requires the iPhone to be jailbroken. I’ll leave the jailbreak and installation of stunnel as an excercise to you.

I’m running stunnel as the “mobile” user, thus all the required files reside in /var/mobile. The files are:

- The stunnel configuration: /var/mobile/stunnel.conf
- The SSL certificate: /var/mobile/cert.pem
- The key matching the SSL certificate: /var/mobile/key.pem

Stunnel is configured as an SSL client. The commented-out lines may be useful for troubleshooting. I have added 10000 to the regular IMAP and SMTP ports so they are beyond the privileged port range that may only be used by root.

cert=/var/mobile/cert.pem
key=/var/mobile/key.pem
pid = /var/mobile/stunnel.pid
sslVersion = TLSv1
# Resolve server hostname at every reconnect,
# not only on startup (for dyndns!):
delay = yes
#foreground = yes
#debug = 7

[imap]
accept=127.0.0.1:10143
connect=example.dyndns.org:993
client=yes

[smtp]
accept=127.0.0.1:10025
connect=example.dyndns.org:465
client=yes

My key is password protected, thus I start stunnel from Mobile Terminal after bootup:

stunnel stunnel.conf

Having a method for starting stunnel automatically with passphrase-less keys would be nice, but has no priority for me. Using a LaunchDaemons entry for this shouldn’t be a problem anyway.

The mail settings on the iPhone are configured to access IMAP and SMTP on localhost, port 10143 and 10025, respectively. SSL encryption is turned off for both.

This setup is surprisingly robust. The current running stunnel daemon has been started 4 days ago and has already survived a few changes of the dynamic IP address of the mail server. I have not had a single hiccup since I figured out that I need the “delay=yes” option in the configuration file to keep up with DynDNS changes. If your mail server isn’t on a dynamic IP address, all the better.

The iMapFlickr app is one of the most exciting applications for my photography that I’ve come across in ages. I can see just so many uses for this app, from detailing photowalks and tourist ‘must see’ spots for hobbyists, to displaying potential sites in the business world. Obviously it’s the former I am interested in.

I’ve made up one quick map as a demonstration. The image is below. Which is unfortunate. The map can be embedded, but WordPress.com don’t permit strange scripts and VodPod won’t recognize it as a video. So to see it work you’ll have to click here. But I am so excited by this app, that the moment I’ve published this post, I shall be off to a WordPress forum to make a recommendation!

Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com port:993 (SSL)

Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com port: 465 atau 587 (TLS)

User Name: username@clusternirwana.com

Password: password email anda.

an inbox with zero unread e-mails thanks to a nasty bug that marks messages as read even before the user opens them.

Former TechCrunch writer Ouriel Ohayon was one of the first to signal the bug on Twitter – with many of his followers echoing the phenomenon – and a quick search shows other users are seeing the same thing. Some are evidently fearing that their accounts were hacked or at least accessed by someone else.

According to this post, the error stems from a change Google made in how it treats the body of an e-mail through IMAP, although the company has yet to confirm this to us (or publicly).

The author of the post also offers a quick fix:

I then relaxed and searched on Twitter and it appears others were also impacted when Google modified how it handles IMAP GET MESSAGE BODY. Even mails on my iPhone were effected by this.

Anyway, thank you to our first user who pinged us so that we could correct this in real time. And for all of you IMAP Geeks around the world, set the PEEK mode to TRUE if you get an mail’s BODY from Gmail.

Reduce e-mail aggravations by changing your the way you receive your messages by Joe Kissell , Macwo

Reduce e-mail aggravations by changing your the way you receive your messages

by Joe Kissell , Macworld.com

You may know that your e-mail client uses either the Post Office Protocol (POP) or Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) standard to retrieve your messages. But do you know why you should care?

When you retrieve a message using IMAP, your e-mail client makes a local copy, but a copy also remains on the server (until you delete it). Better yet, IMAP saves a lot of information about your message—for example, whether you’ve read, filed, or forwarded it. The result is your inbox looks the same whether you’re looking at it on your iPhone or your Mac. By contrast, when you use POP to retrieve a message, your local copy becomes your only copy. The message is typically deleted from the server. Even if you tell your e-mail client to leave a message on the server after downloading it, the server won’t know whether you’ve read or replied to it.

POP uses bandwidth more efficiently, which is good for people with very slow Internet connections, and it doesn’t impose inbox storage quotas. But IMAP offers a host of other advantages. Here are four big reasons I think you should switch today. (After you’re convinced, learn how to make the switch by reading The IMAP advantage.)

1. Avoid webmail outages

Not long ago, Gmail suffered an outage that affected only users who accessed their e-mail via the Web. Users who connected to their Gmail accounts using IMAP were unaffected, and could continue to retrieve their mail as usual. To be sure, such problems are extremely infrequent, but even so, the moral is that having more than one way to access any given e-mail account can be extremely useful. The vast majority of e-mail providers that offer IMAP access also let you access your mail on the Web, and many (though not all) Webmail providers also let you use IMAP.

—-

Verzeichnis anlegen, grabmail.pl reinkopieren.
in grabmail.pl Emailaccount und SAVEDIR anpassen
Starten.

'SAVEDIR' => { ARGCOUNT => ARGCOUNT_ONE, DEFAULT => "/media/tragbar/wohin/die/mails/sollen" },

Suche danach: http://search.cpan.org/search?query=Mail::IMAPClient

Google’s email service GMAIL seems to have stumbled again within weeks. As reported earlier, this time it happened on Thursday, September 24, a little more than three weeks after Google’s email product went down for hours – stranding businesses individuals who rely on its service.

Experts said this outage once again brought to fourth the unreliable nature of cloud computing. This is especially scary for corporate accounts which are starting to reply more and more on cloud computing for their core business needs. One wonders in such cases, if we are really ready for the cloud yet ?

Thursday’s problems began when users stopped being able to access their contacts, blocking them from their contact manager, the chat application and auto – filling of email addresses.

Gmail was unavailable on some mobile browsers, and some folders would not open. Those who bypass Gmail’s web interface by using IMAP protocol to sync with external mail clients such as Outlook were unaffected (this was the case earlier).

$sudo apt-get install evolution dari terminal.

File -> Import di Evolution

Berikutnya adalah jendela Evolution Import Assistant

Evolution Import Assistant

Klik Forward, akan masuk ke jendela berikutnya :

Jendela Importer Type

$ sudo apt-get remove thunderbird

~~~ Semoga Bermanfaat ~~~
I was bored today and started to play around with this Windows Mobile Messaging application (I think
I was bored today and started to play around with this Windows Mobile Messaging application (I think it’s called Outlook Mobile or sort of thing), and I found out that I was not able to connect to my IMAP mailbox on my root server, though it worked with my Freemail account. So I wanted to see what makes Outlook Mobile bother about my IMAP server.
If you are familiar with Linux (which I suppose you are ), you certainly know netcat. With this little tool, you can talk directly to servers on a byte-oriented basis, and this can be very useful if you have to debug programs which use character-oriented protocols like IMAP, SMTP, IRC and so on.
But I’ve realised that I can not only use netcat to talk to a server myself, but even to build a transparent proxy server that displays all the data that comes over it. After a while — okay, it was about 2 hours — I got the following nice command:
$ mkfifo pipe
$ tty=`tty`; netcat -lp 1234 < pipe | tee $tty | netcat myserver.com 143 | tee pipe
I could now set up Outlook Mobile to talk to port 1234 on my home computer and the bytes went straight to my console and also to port 143 (the IMAP port) on my server.
The first direction was straightforward: the first netcat process listens to the local port and pipes its output first to the console (using tee) and then to a second netcat instance that does the communication with the remote server. Now, the commands from the server have to get back to the client, so I created a named pipe using mkfifo (of course, your filesystem has to support it, so you better not do this on FAT) and used this as the input to the first netcat process that sends it back to the original client.
Of course, I could have used Wireshark, but I hate that it does not allow to copy&paste the contents of a packet so I have only the bytes of the protocol that I need — which can be quite useful if you want to reuse parts of the content, especially in character-oriented protocols. Also, the filter settings in Wireshark can be annoying, there is no simple way to only have packets from one network connection (or I haven’t found it yet).
So, finally I found out that is has something to do with the IMAP capabilities that Outlook Mobile bothers about. I suppose I will write something about it if I have traced the problem back.
Update: Note: You can also rewrite the server and/or client messages using sed, but be sure to use unbuffered output with -u like that:
tty=`tty`; netcat -lp 143 < pipe | tee $tty | netcat myserver.com 143 | sed -u 's/^\* CAPABILITY.*/* CAPABILITY IMAP4 STARTTLS/' | tee pipe
I’m gonna bitch, the only place I know how to bitch. On my blog, which nobody reads.
What the FUCK is up with the “Send Later” button in Thunderbird? Maybe it’s a Beta thing. I don’t know. But whatever it is, it pisses me right the hell off.
I’m offline, but I forget I am. I send someone a quick email (fortunately, only to get them a picture off my camera as an attachment). I’m half-drunk so I click “Send” – or I thought. It really said “Send Later” but I missed the “Later” part. I figure it’ll be saved in my Drafts folder until I send it. Urr, no. It’s not. It’s nowhere. It’s not in Sent, Drafts, or otherwise. I can’t find it anywhere. It’s fucking gone.
I get online right away and get new mail (I use IMAP, which basically means just “go online”). It doesn’t say anything about sending mail. Nope. Nothing. I check my bandwidth, it’s not sending. The mail is completely gone.
What the fuck is Send Later supposed to mean other than “send when available but make it possible to see this email in the meantime”"? Wouldn’t it make functional sense to put it in the Sent folder, where it will be the next time email is sync’d (if all goes as planned)?
May be just beta blues but god damn it’s fucking stupid.
First a couple of screengrabs to show what I am ranting about below
Suddenly all my Google Apps email accounts have started showing additional (and largely redundant) labels (folders on my IMAP), and I have no idea why. I am guessing its because they call Gmail Googlemail in the UK, but then they could just have changed the existing root folder name from Gmail to Googlemail rather than creating an extra root folder called Googlemail under which I see a set of labels (which obviously become folders on IMAP) that are basically redundant – like Sent Mail, Drafts, Spam etc. These labels are redundant because the default labels/folders for sent mails is still set to be [Gmail]/Sent Mail and default for draft emails set to be [Gmail]/Drafts and so on. So these [Google Mail]/Sent Mail, [Google Mail]/Drafts and so on are redundant and annoying really, especially on my Apple Mail. I have of course tried to delete these labels, they can be deleted but they appear again few minutes after, I guess automatically created by the system! The only solution now is to make them ‘hidden’ on IMAP but only the labels/folders are hidden but the root folder [Google Mail] still shows up in Apple Mail’s list of IMAP folders…
