The Lonely Island is a comedy troupe consisting of filmmakers Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and Andy Samberg (aka The Dudes), and they are hilarious. (For more information their names are links to their individual The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) profiles).

I first fell in love with their comedy after watching “J*zz In My Pants” YouTube. I then continued to watch other videos and skits/shows they had made. Their humor is like a drug to me and I have become addicted. Join me, Life is meant to be full of laughter!

These two videos are currently my favourite videos. 1 because I think they are funny, and 2 they are brilliant music videos – well written, directed, filmed and edited.

Last Friday was a weird and laid back day for everybody at the office. We arrived at the office with no power, so we were told to just wait until the power comes back up.

We all went out to hang out someplace outside the office. By around lunchtime, we were all called back because the power was back up. Unfortunately, the Internet didn’t go back on so we didn’t have much to do.

Good news was that one of my officemates had a copy of the leaked X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. We propped it up on the big screen computer and watched it with all the office lights turned off. Felt kinda like watching in a movie house.

So, anyway, news that the leaked version was incomplete is totally untrue. It was complete, up to the end credits, just that the editing for the special effects weren’t finished yet.

The comic geek in the group explained that it was different from the actual Wolverine origin story. But when I watched it with friends outside the office, they said that part of if came from the alternate origin storyline for Wolverine.

The leaked copy was really a rough copy, you’ll still be able to see harness cables, unpolished green screen background insertion, and the 3D graphics are still in grey.

Let’s talk about the cast.

• Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas is in the movie playing John Wraith, a mutant with the ability to teleport.
• Agent Zero was played by Korean actor, Henry Kim. He played the doctor/boyfriend of the main actor’s ex-girlfriend in the original Kim Sam Soon tv series.
• Ryan Reynolds plays Deadpool. To most of my comic geek friends’ dismay, the movie’s take on Deadpool was rather far from the comic book character.
• Weapon XI, who we all thought was Deadpool after he got experimented on and injected with other mutant abilities was actually played by a different actor, Scott Adkins.
• Kevin Durand plays The Blob, who, in the movie, started out as someone normal-sized, and ended up putting on weight and looking like a blob.
• Dominic Monaghan (Lost, LoTR) plays Bolt, a mutant with the ability to power electrical devices with his mind. I really can’t take his role as Merry from LoTR off my mind. Haha.
• Taylor Kitsch (Covenant) played Gambit in the movie. For me, it’s just not as Gambit enough as what I’ve grown up watching in The Uncanny X-Men. Not as suave, and not as rugged-looking. But I guess that’s his take on Gambit.

Aside from these characters, Scott Summers and Emma Frost make an appearance in the movie. But I guess because Scott’s eyes were covered with a patch, they never really saw each other, so it’s not a problem that they didn’t notice each other when Logan got into Xavier’s School for the Gifted.

Emma frost was… errr.. just… fail! She was trying to protect other mutants from being hit by bullets by turning her skin to diamonds and blocking the bullets, but all she ended up looking like was a retard dancing “the robot”. Ugh!

Professor X made a brief appearance at the end of the movie. However, one question comes to mind though. Why was he standing up outside the helicopter that came to fetch the mutants from Striker’s hidden lab? He couldn’t walk, right?

Of course Hugh Jackmann plays Wolverine in the movie. I don’t think they’ll be getting someone else. Hehehe. But what really got me hooked was Sabertooth.

Liev Schreiber played the hero/anti-hero Sabertooth. The prosthetics fangs and facial (if the sideburns were fake) hair were great, not to mention his take on the rage-filled Sabertooth was flawless.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, we did watch the bootleg copy, but we’re still planning to see the movie version of the movie. It would be fun to see what the actual effects would look like after they’re done. I wouldn’t really mind spending on the movie again.

C’est connu, les êtres humains possèdent une fascination et une curiosité pour le morbide.  En effet, c’est ce qui explique que chacun ralentit afin de voir les dégâts d’un accident de la route ou que des milliers de spectateurs syntonisent TQS pour regarder Loft Story: 6: All Stars: La Revanche: La saison finale parce que la station va mal.

Donc, en me promenant sur Cyberpresse.ca afin d’étancher ma soif d’information, je suis tombé sur une nouvelle au titre plutôt macabre, à laquelle je n’ai pas pu résister à cliquer. Quelle erreur.  Elle raconte le procès d’un couple accusé du meurtre d’un jeune garçon avant de  découper son corps en morceaux.  Malgré le caractère atroce de cette nouvelle digne de l’oeuvre de Stephen King (ne pas confondre avec Stephane Roy, le frère à Patrick), ce qui m’a le plus surpris est le nom du présumé meurtrier: Michel Côté.  Sans faire de recherches plus approfondies (car je SAIS que j’ai raison), il ne fait aucun doute qu’il s’agit de l’acteur de renom à qui on doit Broue, C.R.A.Z.Y., Cruising Bar 1 & 2, Omerta et…La Fille du Maquignon, selon imdb.com.

Je viens à peine de ramasser ma mâchoire qui venait de s’écrouler sur mon tapis à l’annonce de cette nouvelle.  Quelle est la motivation derrière ce geste?  Selon moi, il a eu un rôle de trop dont le nom de son personnage commencait par le son J et il a pété les plombs.  (Gilbert, Jean-Jacques, Gérard, Jean-Louis, Jacques, Gilles, Gervais, Germain et Jacques encore dans son prochain film De père en flic.)  Nous verrons comment cela va affecter sa cote de popularité auprès des Québécois.

Mais il ne s’agit pas du seul cas où un artiste québécois s’est retrouvé devant la justice pour meurtre.  En effet, plus tôt dans l’année, l’humoriste Cathy Gauthier et son sourire de 82 dents a été elle aussi accusée d’avoir enlevé la vie.  Encore une fois, je ne prend pas la peine de vérifier mes sources, puisque je suis convaincu de mes dires.  Mon esthéticienne me l’a dit!

En conclusion, est-ce que le crime est la nouvelle tendance in des artistes?  Verrons-nous Gilbert Sicotte dans une affaire de trafic humain? Véronique Cloutier accusée de pyromanie?  Janine Sutto à la tête d’un réseau de prostitution?  Je vous le demande.

Don’t know what this building used to function as but it is in my neighborhood in Almaty. Perhaps an old church, maybe some prominent families cemetery plot? In any case, people continue living even after the mighty have fallen. We all need heroes and I just finished watching a superb movie titled Pope John Paul II, he was a hero to millions and died only four years ago. He was born in Poland in 1920 and saw much in his years on earth. The following is from the imdb.com (Internet Movie Database) website which gives a summary of this man’s life played by both Cary Elwes and then Jon Voight. Excellent acting, highly recommend this movie if you want to find out how Pope John Paul II helped fell communism.

Following the premature death of his mother, Karol Wojtyla is brought up by his father in the Polish city of Krakow during the first half of the 20th century. An outstanding student with a magnetic personality, he dreams of becoming an actor. When his homeland is invaded by the Nazis in 1939, he and his friends secretly oppose the systematic persecution of their Polish culture. But, with the death of his father and the lacerating solitude which accompanies this loss, Karol’s personal “resistance” takes on a new form and he decides to follow a priestly vocation. At the end of the war, Poland falls into the grip of Soviet totalitarianism. The newly ordained Karol is constantly surrounded by young people whom he teaches to safeguard and defend human dignity. He could be considered a serious threat to the regime, but the Communist authorities merely see him as an innocuous intellectual and even encourage his nomination for the position of bishop. So I broke down a couple weeks back. Turns out a friend of mine in radio made the final push and I cracked. I signed up for twitter. That’s right. I signed up to let everyone know what I was doing every second of the day. (Or every second I had a device capable of accessing the internet.)

I held off for as long as possible seeing as how I thought no one cared what I did minute after minute. I mean, in any given day whilst being unemployed I could give you the rundown of what I do right here.

That is my entire day almost in it’s entirety.

I mentioned before that I have been watching a lot of TV on Hulu.com. It’s just a website that hosts tons and tons of TV shows and movies in one convenient location. Did you miss Lazy Sunday or Dick in a Box from SNL? Maybe you’re too old, and you missed all of Doogie Howser M.D. or Charles in Charge? They’re all here. Some in all of their 80’s glory.

When Scott Baio of Charles in Charge drops his “L’s” when talking to the Chinese food delivery guy. In the 80’s racism was still funny. (Of course as I’ve noted before, all of this changed when 90210 aired, and let all of us who were raised by the TV set know, that it was in fact NOT ok to be racist. Thanks 90210.)

What about when Hot Hot Hot Chelsea Noble, Doogie’s former babysitter, came back to visit Dr. Howser and wanted to make out with him??? Don’t remember? Neither did I, until I watched the episode and did an extensive IMDB search to find who she was…

That’s right, I think Kirk Cameron is a douche. And it was only after watching the E! True Hollywood Story that I came to this conclusion. It’s widely known that Kirk himself was at the downfall of Growing Pains. One of my favorite tv shows EVER! Apparently, Kirk found God and didn’t think that playing Mike Seaver was very respectful… blah blah blah… YOU TOOK GROWING PAINS FROM ME!!!

However, congrats on the salvation thing and great success on your movies.

As one may be able to tell, I watch a lot of tv, now and in the past. Television these days is great. I love it. I have a lot of show I follow on a consistent basis. But there is one thing I miss. Some of my younger readers may not know exactly what I’m about to talk about, but I really miss “A Very Special Episode.” The 80’s made valiant attempts to teach younger viewers and their parents the dangers and pitfalls of real life. Most of life was not lived with a supplied laugh track. And when real life problems were broached in the 80’s, producers made sure that those at home were to know it was coming. And it always went a little something like this….

Probably the most famous of all “Very Special Episodes” was from Diff’rent Strokes and the child molester. I contemplated putting in some video but decided, not only was it really creepy, but it was entirely too long. If you really feel the need to see what I’m talking about, feel free to hit up YouTube and search “Diff’rent Strokes and Bicycle Man.” While that officially creeped me out I’ll leave you with this gem from Diff’rent Strokes.

I think the closest we ever had to “A Very Special Episode in the 90’s was Saved By The Bell’s Jessie’s Song in 1990. I truly believe that had this show every rocked some primetime, we would have heard…

“Join us Monday night for A Very Special Episode of Saved By The Bell, where Jessie turns to drugs while trying to get by in school.” And this would have been the promo…

So awesome. So, so awesome.

Of course, taking caffeine pills wasn’t the biggest of Jessie Spano’s worries. Not being a gigantic whore in Las Vegas was.

You can’t go wrong with a vampire movie staring Lucy Liu! This is a brilliant horror story told in an appealing way that keeps you wanting more. Flash backs were used in an effective way to inform the audience of what had happened to “Sadie Blake” and what had led her to eventually going on a vampire killing spree. Sadie laughs at Buffy and it’s B vampire slaying effort.

If you’re into vampire movies and don’t mind a whole lot of blood, violence and nudity then you have to check this movie out. Lucy Liu, James D’Arcy and Michael Chiklis are brilliant in this movie.

Last night my grandma rented the movie “Bedtime Stories” with Adam Sandler and the movie is very ery berry good!

Some names you might know are Adam Sandler (Skeeter Bronson) , Courtney Cox (Wendy) , Carmen Electra , Rob Schneider (Indian Chief) , Russell Brand (Mickey).Russell Brand also hosted the MTV Awards this year I believe,British guy with curly brown hair.

Here is a summary on the movie -> 
Marty Bronson (Jonathan Pryce) who raises his son and daughter on his own has to sell his homey motel to clever Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths) who promises to make Marty’s son manager, when he’s grown up and has proven himself. Nottingham pulls down the motel to raise a pricey hotel. Although grown up, Marty’s son Skeeter Bronson (Adam Sandler) works as a janitor and general servant, but unlikely as it seems, he still dreams of becoming the manager. When Nottingham announces a brand-new gigantic hotel project, he makes his future son-in-law, base Kendall (Guy Pierce), manager, shattering Skeeter’s dream. At the same time Skeeter’s sister Wendy (Courtney Cox) has to leave town for a job interview and asks him to alternate looking after her two children Patrick (Jonathan Morgan Heit) and Bobbi (Laura Ann Kesling) with Wendy’s responsible-minded colleague Jill (Keri Russell). He doesn’t get along with either Jill or the children, but his easy-goingness loosens them all up and once he starts telling his bedtime stories, the children grow fond of him and begin to bring in their ideas about how the stories should go. When the stories turn out to become true in real life, Skeeter tries to manoeuver the stories into a direction which will make his dream come true, too.

The main tagline for the movie is: Whatever they dream up… he has to survive.

My new friend Karen introduced me to a new word: * twitterpated *.  We were discussing flutterbys vs. butterflies and somehow twitterpated was suddenly in context for the conversation.  I don’t know how I went through four decades and never heard of this charming word.  Urban Dictionary has 17 definitions for twitterpated;  my favorite is “that happy, jumpy feeling you get that causes you to smile uncontrollably.”

Hooray! Some more filming going on in Gastown this morning. Up on Cambie Street in front of the Afro Canadian market. Apparently it’s for a pilot called Human Target. I tried doing an IMDB.com search for it, but no luck.
I might head up there a bit late on, if the rain lets up, and snap some pics.
Nice to see the film crews back in Gastown again. It’s a good sign that at least the film industry here in Vancouver is going strong.

So I am SO excited about this year’s movies (I am also excited about some for the following years too but they are still too far away). I wanted to give you a peek at the up and coming movies for 2009 that I am awaiting! The ones that are highlighted in RED are my MUST SEES!! *Remember this list is not a list of EVERY movie being released in 2009 just ones that I have my eye on.

Coraline – Feb 6th. Looks pretty good. Kinda dark and for a movie posing to be a children’s movie. It seems to be a bit like A Nightmare Before Christmas/A Corpse Bride style work but darker. Even though it is an animation movie it does not look like it would be one to take young children to. *Rated PG for thematic elements, scary images, some language and suggestive humor.

He’s Just Not That Into You - Feb 6th. I think this movie looks super good. The cast looks awesome. The trailers look fantastic. It is based on a book (I’ve never read it) apparently it is by the author of Sex and the City. The film is set in Baltimore, which is cool because that is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from me.. sadly, I did not know when it was happening to actually hop, skip, or jump on over there… Oh well, I guess I will go watch it in the theater!  *Rated PG-13 for sexual content and brief strong language.

Push - Feb 6th. How can you go wrong with a Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Thriller involving a shadowy government agency, genetic transformations, murders, and telekinetic powers? I do not think you can. *Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, brief strong language, smoking and a scene of teen drinking … (seriously can we get any more detailed).

Confessions of a shopaholic – Feb 13th. Looks like one of those cutesy movies that you go to see with your girlfriend.. and by that I mean you BFF… but then again since it does release the day before Valentines it could be your Valentine’s Day Present to her (or him.. if that is what he is into). *Rated PG for some mild language and thematic elements.

Friday the 13th – If the title didn’t give it away.. it will be released on Friday Feb 13th :). Remake of an old classic. It seems to be the new trend. Since technology and budgets always seem to get better I like watch the remakes to see the difference especially since I was raised watching the originals.* Rated R

*Did you know A Nightmare on Elm Street is also being re-done? Yeah, and Billy Bob Thorton is playing Freddy. I do not know how I feel about that right now.. Only time will tell I guess. I am still terrified of Freddy. Which reminds me… NEVER let your 4 year old watch A Nightmare on Elm Street!

Race to Witch Mountain – March 13th. Also a re-make of an old Disney classic. I have never seen the original but my husband swears it was great. “The Rock” (Dwayne Johnson) Stars in it.. I do not know how I feel about that. It looks like it will an be interesting family movie for kids 6+ if nothing else. *Rated PG for sequences of action and violence, frightening and dangerous situations, and some thematic elements.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li – Feb 27th. Could be a renter but then again could be really good.. I am still pretty unsure of this one but I was a huge fan of the video game and I liked Chun Li’s Character alot .. Though E. Honda and Blanka were my #1 and my #2 favorites. *Not Yet Rated (I’m guessing it will be PG-13).

Watchmen – March 6th. The trailers for this movie haven’t done anything for the movie… and I usually LOVE super hero/comic book (“graphic novel”) type movies. The only real reason I was attracted to this movie is because it was done by the same person who directed 300 (which is one of my favorite movies). *Rated R for strong graphic violence, sexuality, nudity and language.

Duplicity - March 20th. Julia Roberts + Clive Owen + Spy Movie = Intriguing! I just do not know if it is will be a must see in theaters.. No doubt I will eventually see it though! *Rated PG-13 for language and some sexual content.

I Love You, Man – March 20th. This one is sure to have some good laughs. I am just not sure if the laughs are going to start turning into the kind of laughs that Will Farrell’s movies have given me as of late…We will see and hope for the best!  *Rated R for pervasive language, including crude and sexual references.

The Accidental Husband - March 27th. This movie is sure to be the usual romantic comedy type of movie. A few laughs, maybe even a few tears (if you are like me). End the end some one ends up happy. I like those type of movies because it is not often in life that things usually turn out that way. It stars Uma Thurman, Colin Firth and Jeffery Dean Morgan *Rated PG-13 for some sexual content and brief strong language.

Monsters vs. Aliens - March 27th. The trailers for this movie  have looked  very cute. It is by Dreamworks Animation Studio, the same people to bring you Shrek. I think it will be one the whole family will be able to enjoy! *Not Yet Rated (I am guessing either G or PG).

Fast and Furious - April 3rd. I was SO excited to see the trailer for this movie. It has the original cast.. not some spin off with Paul Walker (2 Fast 2 Furious) or Vin Diesel (Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) but both of them back together the way it should be.. and both of the leading ladies too! YAY. *Not Yet Rated (Probably PG-13).

Observe and Report - April 10th. A dark comedy starring Anna Farris (who all too often is type casted) and Seth Rogan (who is going down the same path as Anna). I think the movie might have some good laughs and some one liners but probably not one to see in the theaters. *Rated R for pervasive language, graphic nudity, drug use, sexual content and violence.

State of Play - April 17th.  Has a strong cast and was filmed like 10 minutes away from my house.. wth, why did I not know about this earlier.. I always miss out on watching them shoot movies. darn. The movie is a crime/drama/thriller. *Not Yet Rated (I think it will be either PG-13 or R).

The Soloist - April 24th. This movie looks very good but it also looks very sad. It is a DRAMA and I believe it is based on a real person. It pairs Jamie Foxx and Robert Downey Jr. together for I am sure a stellar performance! Remember to bring the tissues. *Rated PG-13 for thematic elements, some drug use and language.

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past - May 1st. Yet again Matthew McConaughey is back playing in a romantic comedy (another case of type casting??) but he does do it well so… yea. This time around it seems the story is a bit different. It seems he is visited by the ghosts of his past girlfriends who show him the past, present, and future… it is kind of a play on Charles Dicken’s The Christmas Story. *Rated PG-13 for sexual content throughout, some language and a drug reference.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine - May 1st. Wolverine is my favorite X-Men Character. I have high hopes for this movie! My only issue is I hear they added Cyclops as a teenager into the story.. If they can pull it off/explain it then I will be ok with it. *Not Yet Rated (I am going to say PG-13).

Star Trek - May 8th. Before you say it, no I am not a trekkie. I never watched the original Star Trek (the one with Capt Spock) ok I think I might have caught a re-run or two growing up. I think I might have watched a handful of the other one (the one with Capt Kirk). I did watch one or two of the movies when I was in middle school. I think they were the Enterprise ones.. What were they the Next Generation right? They weren’t bad (as I remember it). So I saw the trailers for this one and I am liking it a lot. I think too it is because of 2 things.. one, I love sci-fi stuff now and two, J.J. Abrams directed it (you probably know him from Lost – I do not watch Lost but I LOVE Fringe).  *Not Yet Rated (Probably PG or PG-13)

Angels and Demons - May 15th. Let me start by saying that even though I own The Da Vinci Code (I bought it without viewing it). I think it sucked had I not read the book I do not know if I would feel the same way. I am going to give this movie.. well, Ron Howard and Tom Hanks a second chance to do Dan Brown’s work some justice. This movie is the harder of the two to pull off, so we will see.  *Not Yet Rated (this movie better be at least PG-13.. one could hope for an R).

Terminator Salvation - May 22nd. I love me some Terminator! The first one was good the second one was my favorite, the third wasn’t bad either considering I have seen some trilogys get f-ed up. I think they have done pretty well with the legacy.. Even the Sarah Connor t.v. series isn’t that bad. I am thinking number 4 will be quite good. Oh and if you heard the crud about Christian Bale and his screaming fit.. yadda yadda… don’t let that stop you from seeing a movie.. Just like the Tom Cruise thing.. Remember the person as a person has nothing to do with their acting skills. *Not Yet Rated (PG-13 or R??).

UP - May 29th. All I have to say is one word: Pixar! But then again you know me, like I could just say one word! This movie looks awesome. I cannot wait to see it. The trailer had me laughing so much. My kids were also dying! We cannot wait to see it! *Rated G.

The Proposal – June 12th. Another Romantic Comedy the plot seems a little different than usual and this one stars Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds both of whom are great actors. *Not Yet Rated (… PG-13?)

The Taking of Pelham 123 - June 12th. A thriller about a subway hijacking in NYC, starring Denzel Washington, John Travolta, and James Gandolfini. *Rated R for violence and pervasive language.

The Year One – June 19th. If you read what I said about the movies “Observe and Report” and “I Love You, Man”, this movie will probably follow those lines. It is an action/comedy though and it has Jack Black in it. We shall see. I will probably wait to see it unless someone I know sees it first and says I have to see it in the theaters. *Not Yet Rated (I am going to go out on a limb here and say R).

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen – June 26th. Of course I will be seeing this movie in theaters!!! The first one was bad a$$ so I am sure this one will be just as good, well it better be or I will be super mad. *Not Yet Rated (PG-13 most likely).

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs - July 1st. I own both of the first two Ice Age movies. I must admit the first I liked much more than the second, I think a lot of it had to do with Queen Latifah’s character.. with her it is either hit or miss. I am hoping this third installment is better (than the second and as good if not better than the first even though Q.L. character is still in it). *Not Yet Rated (PG or G).

Public Enemies - July 1st. A crime/drama dealing with gangsters, staring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale.. I truly do not think I need to say more. *Not Yet Rated (almost definitely an R).

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – July 17th. Is there anyone who doesn’t see these in the theater? I might even see it more than once! This is by far my MOST anticipated movie of 2009! *Rated PG for scary images, some violence, language and mild sensuality. (I am a little bummed to see a PG rating … sigh I was hoping for PG-13 for this one and an R for the final two installments – The last movie pt1&2 that is hmm oh well that is not going to keep me from going.)

All Good Things - July 24th. A drama/mystery, staring Kirsten Dunst and Ryan Gosling. Right now it seems like it will be watchable I just do not know if it is theater worthy. * Not Yet Rated (once again – Probably PG-13 or R).

G-Force - July 24th. I don’t know how good this movie will actually be but it is by Jerry Bruckheimer Films so it scores points there. The trailer looks cute which it is a good thing because since it is an animated movie my kids will beg me to go anyway. *Not Yet Rated (PG or G).

Orphan – July 24th. This movie looks creepy. The little girl in it gives me the kind of vibe the little girl from The Ring gives me. I have found I do not like watching scary movies as much anymore. They use to be my favorite. I will probably see it but I will probably skip seeing it on the BIG screen. *Not Yet Rated (Either PG-13 or R).

The Ugly Truth - July 24th. Another Romantic Comedy, this one has Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. The plot sounds similar to “The Accidental Wife“. I thought it funny since I am a Grey’s Anatomy watcher that Katherine Heigl is in this movie and her former Beu in Grey’s is in The Accidental Wife… I think they should have been in this movie together and Gerard should have been in The Accidental Wife instead! *Rated R for sexual content and language.

Funny People – July 31st. Do not be fooled.. I am pretty sure that even though this is a Judd Apatow film it is not going to be like his other films. It is going to be a comedy/drama. He is going for a more serious movie with a bitter-sweetness to it. It could be good or bad due to the fact that Adam Sandler has a hard time doing serious acting. *Not Yet Rated (PG-13 or R).

G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra - Aug 7th. This looks neat. I use to watch the cartoon. I think they might have even made previous movies about G.I. Joe (I did not see them though). The trailers look good. I am excited to see this. I think all who grew up in the 80s are/should be. *Not Yet Rated (PG-R).

9 - Sept 9th. Another animation movie but this one looks like it will be more geared for teens and up. Its plot is: “a post-apocalyptic nightmare in which all of humanity is threatened” (taken from imdb.com). *Not Yet Rated (PG or PG-13).

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - Sept 18th. Yet another animation movie. This was a book I read when I was younger. It was an ok book I guess, I have no grand memories of it. This one stars Anna Farris’ voice (along with some others). The plot of this movie is: “A scientist trying to solve world hunger encounters a problem of global proportions, as food begins to fall from the sky.” (taken from imdb.com). This movie seems like it might be a dud.. but it is another movie to take the kids to and since there is not much else to do with them at their age I figure why not. *Not Yet Rated (G-PG).

The Informant – Sept 18th. This Comedy/Crime/Drama/Thriller is directed by Steven Soderbergh and stars Matt Damon so it could be really good. *Not Yet Rated (PG-13 or R).

The Surrogates - Sept 25th.  This movie looks very interesting. It is a sci-fi/thriller and it is set in the future… and there are Robots (but I do not think these ones are nice). Bruce Willis stars in it. *Not Yet Rated (Probably PG-13).

The Stepfather - Oct 16th. A horror/thriller. It looks viewable but more like a redbox rental. This movie is a re-make of an old movie. The lead guy “the stepfather” I guess marries a wife (who already has a kid) and they do not measure up to his liking so he tries (or possibly succeeds in) killing them. *Not Yet Rated (R probably but maybe PG-13).

Where the Wild Things Are - Oct 16th. SUPER DUPER EXCITED about this movie.. don’t ask me why. I think it is just because it was one of my favorite books when I was a kid and now that I have children it is something that I will get to share with them. Spike Jonze directs the movie so I have faith that it will turn out wonderfully! *Not Yet Rated (most likely PG).

Amelia - Oct 23rd. I am not usually one to like biographies and dramas are ok at times but I usually steer away from them BUT I am actually semi-interested in this movie. I have always wondered about the life of Amelia Earhart and all that took place in it … so maybe that is why I am intrigued by this movie. *Not Yet Rated (could be from PG to an R).

A Christmas Carol – Nov 6th. I have always been a fan of the Charles Dickens novel and I have liked a lot of the movies they have made from it. I am thinking this movie will be pretty good. It will be animated. When I first found out about it, it actually made me think of The Polar Express, which was a book then an animated movie in which Tom Hanks played almost all the parts. This one is similar except a lot of the parts will be played by Jim Carrey… and let us hope this one will be better than T.P.E. *Not Yet Rated (either G or PG).

The Wolf Man – Nov 6th. I have not seen a good werewolf movie in a long time.. Well, minus Underworld which has werewolves/vampires. Hopefully this movie doesn’t let me down. It has good actors in it, so that is promising. *Not Yet Rated (I am hoping it will be an R but it might be PG-13).

2012 - Nov 13th.  So right before I found out about this movie my husband and I were having a discussion about the world ending in on December 21, 2012.. like when the Mayan calendar stopped.. and then I saw this movie was coming out and I was STOKED. I hope this movie doesn’t let me down. Sherlock Holmes - Nov 13th. Who doesn’t like Sherlock Holmes? I am sure someone doesn’t of course lol but I really like detective/mystery/crime/thriller movies. It brings me back to the days of playing the game Clue? Fun stuff! *Not Yet Rated (PG-13 probably).

New Moon – Nov 20th. The second installment in the Twilight saga promises to be much better than the first movie.. with a new director, a bigger budget, and the rumor of Dakota Fanning joining the cast as Jane this movie is sure to be another hit. I will probably be dragged by my MIL or one of my girlfriends to see it but it is NOT one of my must sees. I was dragged to see the first. I thought it was only worthy of 2ish or 3 stars max. I do not understand all the hype or the comparison to the Harry Potter franchise… There is no comparing in my book. *Not Yet Rated (probably PG-13).

Planet 51 - Nov 20th. This movie caught my attention because it was a little different.. kind of backwards if you will. An astronaut from Earth arrives on a planet called 51. The inhabitants of the planet are living in fear of being invaded by aliens. It is a bit goofy but I love it! *Not Yet Rated (G or PG).

The Princess and the Frog - Dec 25th. This one is on my must see list ONLY because it is an animated movie. The one preview I have seen did not spark my interest BUT I have been proven wrong before so we shall see.. Plus it has Oprah in it so it should be good, right? *Not Yet Rated (G-PG).

from David’s party.  I was so sorry I couldn’t go to Laura’s, but the idea of taking possibly 3 buses to get down there by 4pm, especially when I knew my dad was showing up soon, was too much.  So despite the fact that Laura has refused, I owe her dinner.

Dad showed up and we went to sushi at that place Cutter recommended.  It was just about the right amount of food.

Dad and I talked.  A lot.

I also just remembered that mom gave me a teensy bit of information about You.  I won’t go into it now, but rest assured, once the memorial is over, it’s fuckin’ gloves off.

When dad and I heard from David that we had at least half an hour, we drove (or rather he drove me) around the hills on Mulholland.  It was such a lovely view it almost inspired me to never give up/fill in the blank with whatever Sesame Street lingo you’d like.

Then dad droped me off at David’s.  Though I was a touch early, there were already people there.  I stayed a good long time.  Some highlights:

•I almost hit on Jeannie.  No, not REALLY hit on, but I saw her from behind and wondered, who is that hot woman and is she married?  Yes, I’m taking my arrangement with Cutter seriously, but I still have a pulse.  I was close to introducing myself when I saw David next to her and I soon heard my name.  I announced that I was standing right behind them and saw the lady was Jeannie.  I told her about this.  Heh.

•I met Dustin Nguyen.  If you don’t recognize the name, look him up on imdb.com.  Little Fish with Cate Blanchett, 21 Jump Street with my boy Depp, and VIP with Pamela Anderson.  Among others.  I immediately recognized him and actually said, I’m star-struck.  He smiled and we had a good converstion.  I didn’t do anything stupid except for the time that I told him that Agaarn had introduced me to JF Lawton, creator of VIP.

•I told Jeannie about He’s Just Not That Into You which, going solely by the trailer, I think is similar in tone to Sean’s Brother.  I pitched her the idea of contacting the producers.  And now that it’s public record, Jeannie, you gotta do it!

After the second toast of the night, I headed home.  Or rather to Bob’s home.  And I forgot to mention that Jeff called to tell me he’ll be at the memorial.  Quite a few so far.

Oh and I also talked for a little while with Friend-to-you.  I miss her and somewhat regret my decision to move here.  Maybe regret is too strong a word.  I think it was right for me to come, but I think I will eventually have to go back.  Assuming I survive long enough.

Ah, and one last thing.  Upon my return I saw a reply to my message to the Geeks of GeeksOn.com from Peter.  That was a very nice thing.

Zach Helm on the set of Mr. Magoriums

I just finished watching Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. I found it an amazing movie that took you on an emotional roller coaster that is good for the soul and imagination. Everything about the film was thought out, right down to the very detail. Perfection is hard to achieve, but this movie comes close.

Zach Helm has become one of my favourite Directors (and writers). I love what he did in this movie and look forward to seeing more of his work. This is the first film he has directed. He is currently working on ‘The DisAssociate’, a movie which will be written and directed by Zach.

I have read a few articles and listened to an interview and found them all very interesting.

So I’m working on gathering information for a project at the office and using IMBD.com as a resource for some of the data.  On Emily VanCamp’s overview/bio page toward the bottom they’ve listed the following celebrated if not illustrious credit:

In the late 90’s I wrote, directed and starred in a Feature Film entitled, “EVICTED.” Since it’s release on DVD in 2004 the reviews have been scathing and consistent. “Worst Movie Ever!” being a consistent comment on sites such as imdb.com, amazon.com and netflix.com.

While I wouldn’t say I tried to make the worst movie ever, I’m starting to think I accomplished something in doing so.

Why do people hate “EVICTED” so much? What was it like making the “Worst Movie Ever?”

I rest my case

One of my many pleasueres in life since Freshman year of college has been to check the imdb both for daily news and to look people up.  And movies of course.  Every time I see a film, I look it up for all its stats like bo, creative figures, trivia.  Since I’ve been doing it so long, I’ve amassed a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of quite a number of films and their key figures.  I could almost always correct Rachel on stuff.  This was of course fun because she often, very often, insisted she was right on just about everything.  But that’s not why I’m writing this.  See, around the time that Rachel got REALLY sick and died, I stopped checking the imdb.  I hadn’t made a decision, i simply stopped.

Well, I’m back.  I checked it last night and I think a couple nights before that.  Surprisingly, the world hadn’t stopped turning.  Writers are still getting the shaft and everyone else is doing what they’re doing.  There’s even a possible SAG strike coming up.  I guess my features won’t lens quite as soon as I’d hoped.

Thanks for keeping it real, imdb.
