One of my favourite poets is e.e. cummings. This thought came to me, and I thought I’d try my hand at throwing out my previous notions in terms of poetic conventions. Some say imitation is the best form of flattery. I guess I’m imitating? I thought it could be a cool challenge to pose for myself – writing in his style. Maybe next week, I’ll try a sonnet.

Plus, I can’t sleep. Why not write some poetry?

I can hear the moon shout

out! (exhausted and persuasive

that this is the time of howling wolves

and promiscuous lovers)

or aren’t they one in the same?

the earth shakes explosively (like

cobwebbed children in the schoolyard tomorrow

caught somewhere) between

yesterday and today, and mystery

unsolved and bottled

(I feel up and alive) with a mind floating

under the gun, over

the moon

that shouts out (lovely, loudly

like a hurricane girl who

eats the mist and speaks the sun)

the morning is coming for me soon

As I briefly mentioned in my previous post, my inspiration comes from pretty much everywhere. But as of late, it’s come from a lot of celebrity/socialite sources. My intention is never to copy, but to take some of the things that have worked for them & see how it will apply to myself, & how I can put my own spin on it.

After all, they do say “Imitation Is The Best Form Of Flattery”

It’s not exactly a secret who I got my inspiration from for these ..

That’s right! the one & only Solange Knowles.

Truthfully, box braids have always kinda been my signature, and those that have known me for years can attest to this. It wasn’t until Solange sorta brought them back that I ever considered doing them hip length, and I’m a pretty tall chick !!
