I’ve decided to do a list every week. I’m the kind of person who picks up a magazine and goes straight to the top whatever list. I enjoyed writing last week’s “5 Ways to Get /Ignored,” so bam, a series is born. Since I write a lot, I think I’m sparing everyone by sticking to a list of five.

This week (a little late, thanks to a busy Thanksgiving weekend) we’ll do something a little more positive. Let’s talk about ways to impress your guild. We won’t discuss how many of them I actually do…lol.

5 Ways to Impress Your Guild

1. Be respectful. This one sounds like common sense, but you’d be surprised how often this one gets violated. Granted, once you know your guildies pretty well, you know what lines exist and where it’s safe to cross them. But don’t jump into a guild assuming they’re going to love it when you tell them how awesome you are, how they should run their raids, or how the young female warlock in the guild makes you hot. Especially when you’re new to a guild, I highly recommend sitting back and playing cool for a while. Learn about your guildies, what they talk about, what jokes are funny and which flop, and what makes people pissy. Once you feel like you can jump in without making yourself look foolish, go for it!

2. Contribute. Should you spend 15 minutes in vent talking over the guild leaders explaining how and why they should use your strat? NO, that goes back to number 1. But don’t sit down on your butt, show up for raids, and ignore everyone the rest of the time. If you have a useful profession, donate to the guild bank. If you fish up salmon for yourself, fish up an extra stack and stick it in the bank for Fish Feasts. If you make potions or elixirs or gems or enchanting mats, stick a stack or two of surplus into the bank, or if you don’t have bank access, mail it to an officer. You don’t need to go around trumpeting how much you’ve donated (you’ll look like a big old attention-seeking butthead). Someone in your guild is most likely a banker who watches the log, and they will appreciate your donations and more, your humility.

But contributions go beyond guild banks. Contribute your time and skills as well. You’re a good tank? Cool, watch for a good opportunity to volunteer for a heroic group. You’ve got an offspec healer, or an awesome dps? Take them to that ToC 10-man.

3. Do your job. If you’re in a raiding guild, you were most likely invited in a particular capacity. A lot of raiding guilds have applications just like jobs: you applied, you were probably “interviewed” or tested by an officer, and you were accepted. But it doesn’t end there. You’ll be watched exceptionally closely the first several raids. Every failure you have will be magnified, so do your best to fail as little as possible. You ARE going to have screw ups; even seasoned raiders have moments where they stand in front of Icehowl like a deer in the headlights, and at these times, stay cool. Accept the criticism graciously, apologize for your mistake if appropriate, and do everything you can to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Make sure you know about your class and your role. Know how to gem and enchant; know your rotation, your cooldowns, and how to work them within the encounters. Learn about the boss fights ahead of time. Don’t stand in fire. Know how to wipe. If you’re a druid, find out what you need to know about using your battle rez (is it used at your discretion, or will your raid leader call for you?). If you’re a Moonkin, for Elune’s sake don’t shift out to heal unless it’s appropriate (sometimes things like Faction Champs force the issue). If you’re a holy priest, don’t walk up to Gormok and try to Holy Nova while you heal. Do the job you’ve been “hired” to do, and do it to the best of your ability.

4. If you don’t know something, ASK. It’s okay to admit you don’t know everything. Every once in a while, someone will screw up on something repeatedly, and you’ll find out they didn’t ever understand that Big Boss 5 does X, Y, or Z ability. While whispering your raid leader in the middle of the raid to ask him whether or not you should be using this spell instead of that one probably isn’t the best plan, if you’re struggling with something, ask your class lead or someone you think is trustworthy and really gets it (it’s why guilds usually have hierarchies). I think it’s super classy when someone whispers me and says, “Okay, you really seem to get this fight. What do I do when Y happens?” It means you care enough about the other 24 people in the raid to humble yourself a little and ask for help. That’s win.

5. Know when it’s time to move on (or when it’s not). Sometimes people change. Your priorities in game shift from raiding to alts or PvP, or real life kicks you in the butt with the loss of a job, or your wife is having a baby next month. Sometimes guilds change. They get unfriendly or too friendly, they stop caring or they start being jerks about progression. Sometimes you might get into a guild and realize you just don’t fit in with this crowd and you’re not comfortable.

This could mean a lot of things. In the case of “raiding retirement,” it might mean that you stay in your guild as a bench warmer, or you might choose to find a guild that’s more friendly to casual players. If the guild changes, weigh your investments. Do you have a lot of friends in the guild you still like to talk to? Do you have a legacy in the guild? Do you think the guild will recover, or can you accept the new direction it’s taking? Based on your answers, decide whether or not you’re going to wait it out or move on. If the problem is your comfort level in the guild, don’t force yourself to stay there and be unhappy. It’s quite all right to say, “I appreciate the opportunity, but I just don’t think this guild’s the right fit for me.”

Guilds are the backbone of raiding in World of Warcraft (yes, even with all the puggable content, guilds are still leading progression). Unless you like being a drifter, find a guild you love and then settle in. Hopefully you’ll have a long WoW life with your guild.

Oh, and you automatically get 15 impressive bonus points for reading my blog, so congratulations!

Take one look at SNA548 model from Seiko Watches and you will be taken aback with awe. This men’s Seiko coutura alarm chronograph watch could be a perfect gift for a man this holiday season. Great watch at a great price and great value, it has it all you would ever expect from your watch. It’s style, looks, feature, and functionalities will surely impress you. Seiko SNA548 is unarguably one of the Seiko’s best-selling men’s watches.

The Watch is an exceptional combination of gold and stainless steel. Looking at the bracelet, the dark two-tone stainless steel is a perfect beginning to this timepiece. Along with its gold-tone screws, the Seiko SNA548 gives a look of style and sophistication, not over the top or below the level of style that you would expect from Seiko watches. This Seiko coutura alarm chronograph gold-tone men’s watch fits right in between at the perfect level of elegance and balance.

The real beauty of this watch however, lies in the dial of the watch. A gray-brown dial provides a nice backdrop for the centerpiece of the Seiko coutura collection, and blends well with the two-tone bracelet. All these combined with three black sub dials, gold tone markers and hands make the Seiko SNA548 the watch that no one will be able to take their eyes off of. Just like most of other Seiko watches this watch features an easy to use deployment type clasp with push button where the clasp is opened by pulling the joined hands of the bracelet away from hands.

Aside from its gorgeous looks, this Seiko coutura watch proves there’s more in terms of function and capability as well. The sub dials represent chronograph and alarm functions, with the alarm also having the ability to indicate time in a different time zone. The alarm can be set on a 12-hour basis. Seiko watches have also taken water resistance capabilities into consideration while designing the watch. The watch is water resistant up to 100 meters, which fits within the range of typical daily wear.

“Colonel Yum – please can I have a recipe to impress for an inexperienced cook on a budget?” – E.M

CY’s Chicken Casserole

Ingredients

1 tbs olive oil

25g (1oz) butter

8 chicken thighs

2 onions, peeled and chopped

1 garlic clove, crushed

2 celery sticks, trimmed and chopped

25g (1oz) plain flour

300ml (1/2 pint) dry cider

150ml (1/4 pint) chicken stock

1 tbs Worcestershire Sauce

Salt

Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Bouquet Garni

Preparation time is about 15mins and cooking time is about 1hr15mins. Serves 4 people.

Procedure:

1) Heat the oil and butter together in a flameproof casserole dish (or an ovenproof dish) and fry the chicken pieces until browned all over. Remove from the pan with a slotted spoon and put to one side. Add the onion, garlic and celery to the fat remaining in the pan and fry gently for 4-5 minutes until soft and lightly coloured. Sprinkle the flour into the onions and cook for 1minute, stirring.

2) Remove from the heat and gradually blend in the cider, chicken stock, and Worcestershire Sauce. Return to the heat, bring to the boil and simmer for 1 minute, stirring. Add salt and pepper to taste.

3) Return the chicken to the pan and add the bouquet garni. Cover closely with a lid or foil and cook in a pre-heated oven for 50-60 minutes or until the chicken is very tender. If the sauce looks a little thin, reduce it by gently boiling. Seasoning is everything, little by little – don’t overdo it!

4) Serve with really creamy mash – so, boil Maris Piper potatoes (about 6 large ones) until tender. Bung in about 2oz of butter and unfortunately (to make it taste a million times better) buy a small pot of double cream and throw in half. If you can buy a packet of chives as well, snip them and put them in and put them in after you’ve really mashed the butter and the cream into the potato as well. Season the potatoes properly, taste as you go – cannot emphasize enough, little by little. You choose your veg to serve it with!

Perfect for this weather, really delicious, not wildly expensive. What more can you ask for?! It may not be a ‘trendy’ recipe but it’s bloody good! Any problems get in touch with Colonel Yum. Good luck E.M. – don’t burn down the house!

I’ve certainly been busy since the last time I posted something! Where to begin with what I

I’ve certainly been busy since the last time I posted something! Where to begin with what I’ve been doing?

Well, for starters, I was given the chance to act in a college film. I was there for 8 hours of filming, and I only acted for about 2 hours at most in it. But, it was fun anyway. I learned that my college does not have digital video cameras. We have the 16mm film cameras (the first design to have a zoom button!). I learned that actors need to find a way to keep themselves entertained between scenes. There is a short period of movement and action, accompanied by long moments of nothing.

An interesting note about this filming experience was that I was nearly arrested. Our director had found ‘the perfect spot’ to film the movie. (I will be saying ‘our’ and ‘we’ because there were about 5 or 6 people working on this film every moment I was there.) So, we all crammed into the pack of gum he calls a car and went off to this dirt lot on a fairly busy road next to a liquor store. (Needless to say, my claustrophobe self was more than happy to get out of the car.) Now, the story has a homeless man in it. So, one of our actors set himself up as a homeless man. We were recording for about an hour before the liquor store owner came out. Man, the owner was seriously P.O.ed. He was angry because we were recording a ‘bum around his establishment.’ Our director told him that his store wasn’t on the film. We couldn’t prove it to the owner because we were using the old 16mm film. He said that we had to prove to him his store wasn’t in the film, or he was going to call the police to arrest us. We didn’t want to get into trouble with the police, and we couldn’t prove to him that his store wasn’t in the film, so we had to leave. It really orally evacuated that we had to move. That dirt lot was an awesome place to shoot, and was better than the place we had to go to film the movie.

I saw Celtic Thunder when they came to San Diego! They were only here for one night, but it was a beautiful night. I fell deeper into love, had my heart broken, and fell in love with them all over again. I’m convinced that only a Celtic Man can pull such emotions from me. I had so much fun. I couldn’t hear properly for a day (due to my own screaming), and my throat was a bit sore from the event for about 5 days after they event. I can’t wait for them to come back to San Diego, though. I just hope that I can get better seats next time!

I also had the chance to see The Lion King in the theatre! Alright, I had nosebleed seats (what do you expect for $28?), but I still saw it! I took my aunt with me to the show, as she’s never been in the audience of a theatre, only on stage. She, for some reason, wasn’t as impressed with everything as I was. She was expecting the actors to be in more of an animal-looking costume. We had the chance to go with the Director behind the scenes of The Lion King. I learned so much information from there. Apparently, there is 2 of everything for the traveling show. There were two traveling shows in the USA, and when it became 1 show, that show ended up with both sets of props, costumes, and equipment. The show I saw had the most South Africans then any other Lion King show being played in the world. 6. 6 South Africans in the USA Touring Show. That doesn’t seem like a lot to me, but it appearently takes at least that many to keep everyone in the show on track! There are about 5 differnt African languages spoken in the show, which I found to be fascinating. The one spoken the most is Zulu.

On the school front, I have been working on two group projects, a midterm, and a couple of essays. I think that my group projects are going well. One is going to be a Civic Engagement speech on the Ugandan Children, and the other is 10 minute play for my Theatre class. Our play is going to be a comedy of the LA judge that refused to marry an interracial couple. (If you don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s an article about it on CBN News.) I think that my midterm went well – it was in math. I hope that I passed it! I need all the good grades I can get in that class.

I’ll probably be putting the theatre project and play up onto Youtube when I get a copy of them. I’ll post the links/put the video on here when I get the chance to.

Well, now that I’m done telling you all about my life, I’m off to do some school work. Group projects really take all possibilities of having a life away from you.

Brightest Blessings,

I’m almost embarrased to write about this, how old am I now and I still look for approval outs

I’m almost embarrased to write about this, how old am I now and I still look for approval outside of myself. I know it is a need that we have, I’ve read enough books over the years. We humans a social creatures and week seek approval to be validated and I know it is not a good thing to be seeking it solely outside of ourselves. I know in some areas of my life I feel strong and I do not need it, yet is some I still look to others.

Over the last couple of weeks I keep noticing how I catch myself from saying something that I normally would just to impress someone in some way. I think that a lot of what I have been reading in Fetlife has been influencing my thinking. I find myself asking just before I speak, why am I doing this and I notice that I want to impress someone with what I have learned, am I sharing from my heart and not my head.

I have also noticed and realized that when my feelings are strong and I write something I want to post that I have been stepping back and not posting and giving myself time to consider what I have written until I have had sometime to get centered and calm down.

I am seeing shifts in my behavior and personality, this urge to slow down and be at peace with myself has been showing up a great deal.

I have spent enough time in therapy to understand there is a boy who never got the love he needed at the time and wants to be held, sometimes that feeling still shows up and I can feel the hurt from years long past. And now even that feels different, because when I decided to leave my marriage, I felt a new strength showing up, because I am a learning to value myself first.

I spent the last two years coming to terms with myself that I wanted out of my marriage and I know what I want in my next relationship, but for right now I want to discover who I am, because I lost myself in the marriage.

drawn in completely different ways. Both interesting and dynamic techniques capturing great likenesses. On the left Jack Nicholson and on the right Paul Gasgione. These aren’t new caricatures though; they were taken from the 1993 contact book of illustrators – the heyday of illustration, and a time when illustration hadn’t fallen out of favour to the charms of photoshop. The 90’s and 80’s were a period of real experimentation and development in illustration and many styles and techniques were developed.

Usually you see rather predictable styles when looking on the internet while trying to find a caricaturist today, and when you do come across someone who is different – it is quite refreshing. I suppose the internet is driven by the market. For instance, I doubt many people would commission a caricature in the style of Paul Gascoignes to hang on the wall, it is just too illustrative and editorially biased. I think most people would never hang that above the fireplace to impress. So what makes us make the choices we do? Vanity? Insecurity? or just the in built desire to want to feel good about ourselves when purchasing. Afterall Paul and Jack didn’t commission the caricatures here.

image_path: "~/image_path"
slide:
- bg: "image"
- text: "Quien necesita Powerpoint" x:5 y:10 align:left size:20 font:sans color:coral
- text: "Probando xsw, presentaciones geek" x:50 y:30 align:center size:28 font:mono color:black

Con la orden
slide
se presenta una diapositiva,
bg
y
text

I love Impress! Their newsletters are adorable and full of fun ideas! Check out their new CityScape rubber stamp collection. Who wants to rubber stamp with me this weekend?

Check out their spooktacular (sorry, I had to do it!) Halloween card!

I have never done this before, but I now feel the urge to make some bushy autumn trees. I have problem, I must stop looking at this cuteness.

I have been wanting to make a “What up Boo?” Halloween card, and after seeing all of these fun, fall products, I may have just found my motivating inspiration.

Keeping in touch with your clients is crucial for your business. It can help build up your relation

Keeping in touch with your clients is crucial for your business. It can help build up your relationship with the clients.

A good way to achieve this goal is to impress your clients by sending them individualized greeting cards. This can show your concern and attention to them. You will need a marketing strategy that works to secure an increase in return business. So do it right!

Repeat Business: Tell current clients that you are thankful for their support by sending them greeting cards. If you manage to make them feel respected and valued, this will encourage them to come back for more business. Customer

Loyalty: The loyalty of your clients can also be maintained by sending greeting cards. You can show your appreciation to the clients and let them know that they are precious to the company in the cards.

Referrals: Place some client case studies or testimonials inside your greeting cards. This kind of real life reference can make your clients believe that it is a right decision to choose your company. They will then suggest you to others.

Existing Customers: You would want your clients to think of you as more than just another marketing consultant who cares about nothing but business. Express sincere wishes through your greeting cards to make them feel that they are more than just a customer. This will keep business coming thru the door. Printed greeting cards helps you to impress your clients with their unique designs. Your clients will not miss a single message in the personalized cards. They are printed exclusively for them.

Sending greeting cards can only help you approach a group of target clients. If your target is to approach a wide variety of clients, you should make use of a card campaign which can gain attention from many people at one time with low cost.
