I love that black STi standing out amongst a sea of white and grey.

I’m constantly going back and forth on whether or not I like the 04/05 body style for the STi. This car makes me love it, especially slammed, flush, and wingless. The white RPF1’s and front-mount make this STi look so aggressive.

How many of you would have loved to have seen this waiting under your trees this morning? I’d never need another Christmas present again! The RCM Gobstopper means business, even when it’s on holiday.

For those of you following tino’s Australian STi build, the motor is in the beast. One of the cleanest Subaru engine bays in existence, by far. For as functional and unique as this build is, I almost miss being able to see the turbo in the engine bay, it looks so empty now. On the other hand, it totally looks like a race car now.

I can write a little tid bit for you but at this point, this guy needs no introduction. Here is what Ken Block’s been doing with his infamous STi.

So I had a little run in with a snow bank the other weekend, and normally that would not be a bad thing but this snow bank decided it wanted to hide a curb under it.

Just the front bumper of my 25rs hit breaking the bumper skin on the lower half. So like a true drifter I bought 100 multi coloured zip ties and put it back together.

One of the biggest complaints I hear about Subarus are their huge steering wheels. My bugeye WRX has an enormous OEM steering wheel. It’s supposedly designed by MOMO but I have my doubts that they just stuck the sticker on there to give it a sportier look. The easy fix is to install an aftermarket steering wheel, but lets be honest, unless you’re running a 5-point harness it’s just plain dangerous to rock an aftermarket wheel. So then the question remains, safety or better steering response?

The guys over at K2 Gear have come up with a solution. This replacement wheel for the GRB STi is the perfect compromise for safety, driver convenience, and size. The wheel shaves off about 20mm around providing for sharper turning response. It also keeps the factory airbags and car controls, which you typically loose going aftermarket.

If K2 Gear isn’t your thing, then check out this other option from Prova. The circumference of this wheel has also been decreased for response and reupholstered with bits of alcantara. Eventually I’d like to go aftermarket when I get a seat and harness but these are some great options for GRB owners desiring a more OEM-inspired look.

Quick snap of tino’s engine bay before the new turbo setup. I think this is the one and only Corsa Veloce intake manifold at the moment, although I’ve heard they’re going into production. It’s beautiful as with the rest of the engine bay on this STi. The interior is undergoing a full S203 swap with all the dash, door, and ceiling trim wrapped in alcantara. Time for everyone to step their game up, the bar has been set.

So it’s been quite a while since Montreal has seen some dry road and some clean cars. Just like every other car on the road our STi was dirty but it was uniquely dirty. This car attracts dirt, slush and grime so much we just wanted to wrap in a car cover every time we parked it but what would be the fun in that? After all it is a rally inspired beastly STi that let’s be honest here looks sexy squeeky clean or full of filth.

So for days and days we drove around proud of our filthy ride until today. Today showed promise. The roads had dried up, the weather was relatively clear and the cars in front of you weren’t spitting dirt off their winter tires on to the car. So we thought today was the perfect today to go to our favorite car wash, Details and give Rambo (STi – Awesome nickname right?) a thorough cleaning. So I stood in the waiting area of the car wash as I watched over Rambo like a hawk. I almost forgot what it looked like all clean and spiffy! I paid the man and got back in to the car. The garage door began to lift open as I began to advance towards the opening.

Now between the time that I got into the car wash and the time I got out, it had begun to snow. Luckily the car wash is about a 3 minute drive away from the office! I thought how dirty can Rambo get on a 3 minute drive! Hell it will probably still be clean as a whistle other than some pretty white snow flakes on it’s curvy body!

Things didn’t quite turn out how I’d hoped. The minute I got out of the car and saw my wasted car wash money, I pulled out my iPhone and took a few pictures for you. I apologize if the photos seem shaky. It’s -27 Celsius with the wind!

The video, car, and driver (Colin McRae) are all amazing on so many levels. Why don’t all Imprezas come with anti-lag standard?!

I’m pretty bummed that I missed the annual Southern California Impreza Club meet in Costa Mesa a couple weeks ago. I really need to start checking out the local forums more on NASIOC so I can stay up to date. Anyway, The Perfect Exposure was on hand to provide some dope coverage of the meet. I must say I’m super impressed with some of the Subarus I’m seeing these days. There was a period of a couple years where I just wanted to sell mine and get out of the community but it’s recent resurgence has got me all pumped about Subarus again (as you can see from reading A Class).

My only hang up is why they had the meet in such a small parking lot. Forman Performance sponsored the meet but next year they may want to consider moving it to a larger venue.

Kenny’s car seems to wow the crowed at every meet from HellaFlush III to the SCIC.

The Varis diffuser so insane-looking even compared to the Voltex. I love how the sides protrude so far outside of the rear bumper. I’m not the biggest fan of Work XD-9’s but white on black is such a great combo.

More Varis insanity above. I’ve seen this car around, but I don’t know much about it. I think it’s privately-owned. Definitely some top shelf parts on this thing, love it. I’d have the same kit if I drove an 04/05 model. Check out The Perfect Exposure for more coverage and pictures from the meet.

I’ve seen only a handful of Imprezas with this much stretch on the tires. I think it looks great on imhellaslow’s car. That dual-tip bosozoku-inspired exhaust is pretty clean too.

L-Schlegs’ GRB STi looking fierce.

I know WRB (world rally blue) is a really played out color for Subarus, but to own a proper Subaru it kind of has to be WRB. It’s like driving a white Ferrari, you have to go with red. For me the best color combination for paint and wheels on the Impreza is WRB and black/gunmetal. No other combination compares, it just looks so good. Here is an example of a well executed setup (even if he is running fake ass Rotas).

Super Lap Battle at Tsukuba has got me searching up all sorts of track cars. The bugeye STi in this terrible picture looks pretty mean, from what I can see. The exposure on the front end is so blown out it’s tough to tell what it even looks like. From what I can gather, it appears this STi has a V1 front lip and some sort of under tray and canards. The white on white color combo is clean as always.

As promised I have taken some more pictures of a day in the still very snowy Montreal! I think you’ll like these images better since it is all of my STi!

I’m admiring this shot by Anthony Furlong. Kenny’s WRX never ceases to impress me. I need to see this car in person one of these days. I’m sure it’s not the fastest Subaru ever built, but there’s such a uniqueness to this car. Choice parts, subtle style, I’m totally sold on Kenny’s vision.

Dope GC8 rocking a Chargespeed body kit and Voltex wing. Owner said he’s going to do the wheels in white, I think that’s a good idea, especially with a teal car. Only thing I’d lose is that nasty yellow film on the headlights, kinda ricer. This car would totally look like the Team Orange GC8 with a paint job (that’s a good thing).
