Feeling really incompetent.
I just feel really inexperienced still. We have to start getting models soon for assignments, and I just don’t feel ready. I don’t know if I have the confidence yet to bring other people in for a shoot because I feel like what I make won’t be good.

I’ve always had confidence issues, and I’ve always been really hard on myself when it comes to my work. I hope this feeling passes. I think I just really need to practice over winter break or something.

So I took my car to Wal-Mart service center this morning because it was acting funny. When I got there I explained the problem and the technician told me it sounded like I needed to have my tires balanced and rotated. So after taking a look at it the technician confirmed that yes I needed to have the balance and rotation. I told him it was cool and I went inside the store to look around get a snack and wait for the car to be repaired. After about an hour the technician looked in the window of the waiting room and gave me the big thumbs up that everything was cool. I paid the cashier for the service which also included an extra $10.00 for free rotation and balancing for the life of the car. Half way into my drive to work I notice the car was still acting funny so after work I took it back. One of the technicians told me, “oh you need an alignment and oh yeah we don’t do those here.” Excuse me? How are you going to have a tire center and not do alignments? So I politely asked him to tell me why was it that they took my money and did a half service? And the manager admitted to me that some of the guys working there are inexperienced and they are not real mechanics. What??? How are they going to employ incompetent people who know nothing about car repair? This is a hot ass mess!! So I told him look I paid for this and I need someone to look at my car. He then went over and talked with another fucktard and came back to tell me basically they had no need to look at it a second time because they were sure it needed alignment. I told all of them that they were cheating and scamming me out of my money and I told him that I would be sure to call the coporate office and report all of their asses. I got all of their names and I am shutting them down Moday and I am pushing for a refund. Don’t go to Wal-Mart service center unless you want your car screwed up. Dirty Fuckers!

For auctioneers, we deal with oral and written contracts continually. So, no matter the kind, what elements must be present to have a valid contract? There are three:

Competent parties

Mutual assent

Consideration

Competent parties means that both parties to the contract are competent. Competency relates to mental competency meaning that one of the parties isn’t mentally incompetent. As well, common law in the United States suggests that someone must be at least 18 years old to be competent.

Mutual assent means the parties have a “meeting of the minds.” For example, at an auction, during bid calling, if the bidder thinks he is buying a flower frog, and the auctioneer is selling a kitchen cupboard, and says, “Sold!” then there is no contract — clearly no meeting of the minds.

Consideration means “something of value” and can be money, property, services, or a promise to do something or not do something. For example, the auction buyer promises to pay for the item, and remove it within the given terms, while the seller (auctioneer) promises to transfer title.

When do auctioneers enter into contracts? We’ll discuss this in greater detail later, but basically at every turn. Auctioneers enter into contracts with sellers, bidders and buyers throughout their careers.

What happens if we don’t have the three essential ingredients to a contract? Basically, there is no contract, but there are cases where, for example, a minor entered into an auction contract and the court involved ruled that only the minor could void the contract, and otherwise, the auctioneer would have to perform. The concept of “voidable” typically only applies to the party lacking one of the essential ingredients.

my mum didn’t get me the fame monster… sad times. so no review today. new moon review tomorrow though.

yay!

im sooooo addicted to Ugly Betty now its unreal. I need to stop watching american tv before I run out… actually, I say before I run out, but im pretty much out of them now anywho…

so i got some good news earlier. Im getting my allowence doubled after christmas… so exited. the posibilites are endless! means i can shop MOREEEEE! and still use dads amazon account. yay. i hope thats part of my inheritence… dads amazon account. its not like anyone elses uses it more than me. IVE EARNED IT!

its kinda worrying me how close me and my dear, dear mother are at the moment. it seems like its been forever since we argued. we’re even planning to get out the ps1 and play through all the old tomb raiders together. im actually sooooo exited. but realy scared. we’re due an argument. and its been so long. their will probably be murder…

wow it reminds me of the daysss…. i remember when my mum got her first pc and i was like… i dont know… four., and I used to sit with my mum and play tomb raider. yeah, that probably makes her the worst parent of all time! but i disagree. i think it made me the person I am today, and it probably one of my clearest happy memories… and then tomb raider two was around the time my dad came out of hospital, so thats more happy memories.

Im glad my mum was such a bad parents. it technically, in my eyes, made her the best parent EVER! thanks mum! much appreciated!

I get so annoyed with political correctness and protecting children from the horrors that can be found in fairytales. who cares if the big bad wolf is terrifying, and who cares if its baa baa black sheep. does it make it any less offensive its its baa baa rainbow sheep? isnt that just plain in your face homaphobia? or maybe its encouraging kids to be gay?

kids arn’t stupid. they know whats right and whats wrong. if its so wrong to expose children to fairytales, then why on earth do we think its fine to expose them to the monster we call The Night Garden. now, im not being funny, but the things in that absolutely terrify me! id rather be locked in a room with a clown than in a room with them.

And tellytubbies. im sorry, but that was just plane WRONG! how DARE they allow names such as Tinky Winky (little penis) Dipsy (stupid blonde girl) lala (CRAZYYYYY BITCH) Po (Shit) on the screens. for fucks sake they didnt even speak english… hell, they didnt speak. period.

I dont think that me reading stories like Little Red Riding Hood or Enid Blyton’s The Magical Far Away Tree ever effected me. wait. no. take it back. bible bashers will blatently blame my exposure to these sins as the reason for my homosexuality. OH FORGIVE ME FATHER for being ME!

I don’t care. if they’re whats made me such a sin, then fine, I’m glad. I’m happy and proud to be the person I am, and I wouldnt want it any other way!

If anything I think its a sin that the people who are banning and changing these fairytales and other classics are the people who were never exposed to them in the first place. they seriously DON’T know what theyre missing. losers.

its not our fault they were born to competent parents. forgive us for our parents failiure. its not our fault they didnt know the demons hiding behind the pages of Fairytales and the words of Nursary Rhymes. they didnt know the poison Roald Dahl or Enid Blyton wrote.

shame on them!

Robert Priddy (a caustic critic of Sathya Sai Baba and others) deleted a story about his air-signaller training in the R.A.F. in 1955-6 while stationed at Swanton Morley, near Dereham, Norfolk. The reason Priddy deleted this page was probably because he didn’t want everyone to read how he “feigned incompetence” and was dismissed from his 9 year contract to serve in the National Service. Priddy planned on how to “get the chop” and purposely made his logbook into a “glorious hodge-podge of every kind of omission and futile mistake”. Priddy said that he had “a certain guilt in my having feigned incompetence when I was actually about 95% capable”. The end result? Priddy got the “chop” he sought and became a “Z reservist” (the last group to be called in the event of a war). Which was “quite a boon!”, as Priddy blurted.

It is difficult to decide which is greater: Obama’s incoherence or his incompetence.

When it has become obvious to all but the brain-dead that the massive spending and swelling debt are a recipe for economic disaster, Barack Obama is now saying that perhaps massive debt may result in a “double-dip recession“.

“I think it is important, though, to recognize if we keep on adding to the debt, even in the midst of this recovery, that at some point, people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy in a way that could actually lead to a double-dip recession.”

Really Barack? Did you think of that all by yourself or did you need your heros in Socialist China to tell you that your economic policies are failures?

Now Barack Obama says he is considering “tax provisions”, whatever that means, but what is Obama doing?

The ink was literally not even dry on Obama’s first failed Socialist Stimulus and he was already talking about a second one. Now the Socialist/Democrats are following through on a bill for a second dose of disaster.

Furthermore, Obama’s budget for October 2009, the first month of the Federal Government’s new fiscal year, was a $176B deficit, the largest ever and that was only the first month. Obama’s spending for his first year was also a record as was the deficit he created at $1.4T.

There are only two possible explanations

Barack Obama is so incompetent and incoherent that he is making every possible mistake there is to be made

Barack Obama is very focussed and has a well planned agenda to destroy the value of the US$, bringing the US economy and most of the world’s economies down with it, driving every nation towards a single global currency and forcing everyone to live under one government and at the same level of poverty.

Given Barack Obama’s statements, those of his wife and their associations with, socialists and anti-American terrorists it is clear that Obama is an extreme socialist and has no intention of seeing Americans have any form of personal freedom or seeing America succeed economically.

Is Obama incoherent and incompetent? For that to be true one would have to make one assumption: Obama want’s Americans to be free and succeed. That of course is not the case. Obama is neither incoherent or incompetent.

When Obama tells you that his actions are destroying the US and proceeds to redouble those efforts he could not be more transparent about his real intentions.

Barack Obama poses the single greatest threat to Americans, their freedoms, their future and the success of the US.

Does anyone else see the resemblance?

Here are few other similarities:

Scarecrow lives in a house shaped like an ear of corn in the magical land of Oz. Palin lives in a magical house in Wasilla, AK that has a lovely scenic overlook of Russia.

When asked about the role of a vice president, Palin responded that “They’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes.” This blatantly incorrect answer proves that Palin, like Scarecrow, needs a brain.

Scarecrow hangs out with interestingly-named people like Tin Man, Toto, Cowardly Lion, and Dorothy. Palin hangs out with Willow, Trig, Piper, Bristol, and Track.

All satire aside, the bottom line is this: Sarah Palin is too incompetent to serve as an elected official. She has been warped by her rise in notoriety. I don’t care about her politics, I don’t care about her strange family or her book sales. The fact is she is a complete and utter moron. I would rather have someone flat out say they don’t know the definitive role of the vice president than try to bullshit an answer.

Not only that, but I am sick of the argument by conservatives that she “scares liberals” because she has a track record of reform and change. Sarah Palin scares people with any form of thought process simply because we can see what a closed-minded, pandering, corrupt piece of shit politician she is.

Conservatives, you can say whatever you like, but that’s my opinion and you can’t do a damn thing about it, much the same way that nothing I say will dissuade you from your blind following of this woman. However, if you would like to open up your minds and read a book that was not written by a conservative talk show host, a politician, or a God, you will be amazed at what you could learn.

If you agree with me, help me flee the country and before there’s a President Palin.

Alternatively, if you’re a person who supports Palin, your donation will help remove one liberal from the country!

Today, I am honored to publish a guest post written by Evan Hadkins. Evan lives in Canberra, Australia, where he works in the mental health arena. He writes a fabulous blog, Wellbeing and Health, which deals with all aspects of health (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social), with an emphasis on psychology and personal development. In this article, he provides us with a better understanding of why a person commonly thinks and talks obsessively about the abuse during the “emergency stage” of the healing process.

—————————————————–

Learning from Our Obsessions

I think we humans have a need for meaning – to draw conclusions about what we’ve experienced, to reflect on what has happened to us, to learn from past mistakes and successes. I think this is a big part of developing our sense of who we are.

We may leave a tradition that we grew up in and decide to do things differently to the way we were taught; nevertheless, we are usually shaped in some way by the tradition or our up-bringing. It often affects the meaning we attach to our history – and it can have consequences that, in some ways, can look quite funny. For example, because I decided early on that “I am unacceptable because I’m incompetent”, I wanted to do everything well.

Selflessness Forest by Martin Chen

Just like I decided I was incompetent, we all make decisions about who we are based upon the meaning we give our history. If you find that one of your decisions is a problem for you – that it seems inaccurate – you will want to re-decide. When I realized I had a problem with the idea I was incompetent, I decided again.

My temptation is to show that I have done this re-decision well – to show that I know the steps and understand them thoroughly – in short, to show that I did the re-decision competently. Likewise, a perfectionist may learn that perfectionism leads to misery and will try to undo the impact of perfectionism – systematically, thoroughly, and completely (in short, perfectly).

Sometimes we struggle to find meaning in a situation and it affects our ability to make accurate decisions about ourselves. The need to find meaning in that situation is strong. Sometimes we become frustrated with our inability to meet that need; then, our focus turns to our inability to meet the need.

For example, if we are a little thirsty, we get up and get a drink. If we are somewhere where this isn’t possible (a desert or a formal occasion, for instance), we will likely find that more and more of our attention is devoted to our inability to get a drink.

The more important it is to us to have the need met, the more our focus will be on finding a way to meet that need – and the more our focus will be on our frustration at our inability to meet the need. This is illustrated during an emergency when our attention will often focus intensely on doing just one thing – and, if we don’t know what to do during the emergency, our attention will focus on this not knowing.

However, when I am able to find meaning in a situation and my need for meaning is satisfied, a new need emerges: I may need to find ways to deal with the issue – if the issue is important enough to me to require further attention.

Let’s look at a practical application of this concept: Sometimes we struggle to find a cause for our exaggerated reactions to commonplace events. We need to understand the meaning behind the strong emotions that we feel as we are overreacting. If the meaning is not obvious to us, we can become frustrated by our inability to meet our need to understand.

For instance, sometimes I’m surprised or puzzled as to why I react so strongly to something. I have found that it can be helpful to remember what happened just before I had this feeling. It may be a stray remark from someone that I didn’t pay much attention to at the time, or it may be that what happened reminded me of some past trauma (for me, the issue triggered is usually competence).

If it was a stray remark, I may think the other person was just in a bad mood and didn’t mean to upset me – this realization may be enough to resolve the entire issue for me. If I am more upset, it may mean I need to find ways to remind myself that I don’t have to be competent to be acceptable. It may also mean finding ways to nurture myself.

It may also mean that I need to examine the decisions about who I am that I made based upon the historical events in my life. It may mean I need to revisit the meaning I have assigned to that history. Once I arrive at a better understanding of my decisions, I may find I need to re-decide.

Sometimes the process of finding the meaning in reactions, decisions or historical events can be very challenging and very frustrating. When the need for meaning is not being met and our frustration increases, then more and more of our attention may focus on this need. In psychotherapy, this is sometimes called “unfinished business”.

Unfinished business is the collection of events in our past that we find ourselves going back to again and again. We may feel we should have done or said something, anything – or we should have said or done something differently. It might also be that we don’t understand why someone did something. We turn this event over and over in our minds.

The way to finish the unfinished business is to find its meaning for us. This is usually far more than just intellectual understanding. When, through therapy with a very skilled psychotherapist, I discovered that my decision had been, “I’m unacceptable because I’m incompetent”, I went into a kind of shock or hibernation; I barely spoke for three days. (I was fortunate that the situation I was in allowed this, and the people around me were understanding enough to not try to ‘fix me’.)

Gradually, over the following weeks and months, I understood more and more what this decision had meant for me and how I lived my life. (This occurred two decades ago now; to appreciate fully what this decision had meant for me took a couple of years or so.) With this new understanding, I could begin exploring other ways to live, and to find out what interested me and how I really wanted to live. My obsession with competence decreased and rarely bothers me anymore.

The months following the discovery of my early decision were a time of suffering for me – especially the days immediately after the discovery when I was in shock. It was a difficult time. However, the suffering was worthwhile because I came out on the other side with my need for meaning having been met.

This need for meaning is important, I think, even if suffering is part of the process of finding it. Friedrich Nietzsche said that, “If we know the why, we can bear with almost any how”. Viktor Frankl explored the more positive side – noting that what helped prisoners survive prisoner of war camps wasn’t so much youth and fitness as having a meaning to live for. (Frankl wrote a wonderful book about this called “Man’s Search for Meaning”.)

When we have something very traumatic in our past, it can be very difficult to finish that unfinished business. Often, the hardest situations to bring to completeness are those situations in which people who were close to us have hurt us – especially if we were young at the time. In those instances, we often have very intense feelings all mixed up together.

Remembering these events can bring the feelings flooding back – and this is awful. (We learned how to ignore or suppress these feelings for good reason – they were so awful to feel.) We may well feel like a child again, and like a child experiencing trauma (and who wants to feel like that?!)

Because we are not able to find the meaning behind these historical events, and because we are having trouble making decisions about who we are based upon the meaning of our history, we become frustrated. Our focus on our inability to find meaning and to make decisions becomes obsessive.

However, there is hope. We can gradually understand what this child needed and meet these needs now. We can come to understand what the past trauma meant. If we don’t have supportive and understanding people around us then we may need to do this in small steps. Allowing ourselves to feel the full impact of the emotion can feel very scary. It has helped me to know that I can feel a little of the emotion, become comfortable with it, and then feel a little more of it.

Our obsessions give us good information on where our needs aren’t being met. In this sense, our obsessions are entirely healthy. Over time, our need for meaning is met and our obsessive thinking and talking about the abuse will diminish. This allows us to move on to a new way of living.

Do you feel obsessive about some things? Have obsessions been a part of your life? Has your focus been on a person or subject or some area of interest? Was it a happy time? Difficult? Mixed? I’d like to hear about your experience with obsessions.

Chances are you know people who complain of stress, and some of them define their problem more sharply as “burn out,” a new psychiatric term that is growing in popularity. Make no mistake, stress seems very real. People spend billions every year on pills, diets, exercise gimmicks, and medical visits to cure their problems. But drugs, jogging, lifting weights, and talking with medical people don’t cure stress.

The real cure is so simple it goes undetected. Very simply – to cure stress, you must attack its cause. And the cause of stress is performing work you do not find enjoyable, challenging, and beneficial to yourself and others. people who complain of work related stress are misfits. Briefly, they don’t like their work. They feel incompetent, bored, out of place, inadequate, mistreated, threatened, or unappreciated.

I don’t know what motivates them; the get rich quick scheme, famous rappers and producers, lack of an education, myspace who knows. I do know that I’ve listened to my fair share of said rappers and producers and I will have to say that most of them were in fact garbage. Those who breathe, eat, sleep myspace track plays are the ones I’m talking about. Day in and day out there is someone asking me to listen to their music and when I do, I’m always let down. They give me this impression that its something that I “never heard before” when that’s not the case.

What it all dwindles down to is their lyrics and instrumentals sound a like. The lyrics in ones songs is about drugs, money, females, and violence. If I need that in my life, I would download every last piece of shit of music Gucci Mane, Lil’ Wayne and Plies has ever made. I look at these producers when they’re trying to make a buck for their music and its obvious they’re not getting far because its so many of them. If anything they’re not getting rich quick, they’re getting poor quicker. Getting rich by finding the easy way to make money doesn’t work for everyone. When I say everyone, I mean half if not more of Myspace.

I’ve conversed with a lot of these rappers and producers and they sound like they never picked up a book or even stepped inside of a school. They have this “thug” mentality and its astounding how stupid they are. Most sound paranoid as if someone is always out to get them or steal their music. I ask them do they have it patented and they say they don’t know what that mean. I try talking to them on an adult level and they can’t even keep a conversation going without begging me to listen to their latest beat/track. I try giving them constructive criticism and they act like I just shot them in the ass or slap the crap out of their mother.

How can you be a rapper or a producer if you’re dumb as a brick wall and have the mentality of someone below a 1st grader? How can you be a “lyrical genius” if you’re stupid as hell? What example are you setting for children of the future with lyrics about “bitches and ho’s”? That’s why I find most of you music producers and rappers pathetic. You’re trying to follow in your role-model’s footsteps and get rich like them but you haven’t gotten far and you probably won’t. That “if Gucci Mane can do it, I can too” shit shouldn’t apply to you. Its other ways to shine and being a statistic shouldn’t be one of them.

I would list the ones that people should spare their ear-drums and sanity from but I’ll be here all night. I might come back and list them anyway if I don’t have anything else to do later on.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE: The office of the president has actually responded to our letter. The woman who responded apologized for the bad experience, credited our account for a month, and even gave us her direct phone number (which I will not post here) in case we have future problems. So, the customer service department still sucks, as described below, but the corporate office at least does what they can to fix it if you take the time to write. It’s all we can hope for after that experience. — M. Scott 11/17/2009.

And now on to the text of a letter that we sent to the president of Time Warner Cable. All I can say is that if you have any other option for your TV and internet access, take it. I don’t. So I’m stuck with this complete and utter load of crap.

 November 2, 2009

Mr. Glenn A. Britt
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
Time Warner Cable Inc.
60 Columbus Circle, 17th Floor
New York, NY 10023

re: Customer Service

Dear Mr. Britt,

With you and your company advertising that you are working for a company based on customer service, I can only assume that you are completely unaware of the complete customer disservice that you are providing to your customers. Time Warner is behaving as a true monopoly, a company that couldn’t care less about providing decent and reliable service to its customers. I can only hope that you will take action to correct this horrifically bad situation.

On Friday October 30th at around noon, I called customer service to explain that my cable modem was not working properly. First, I went through the automated troubleshooting system, which has never been helpful at solving any issue I’ve ever had, including this one. It did not understand the symptom of the top two lights and no others flashing on the modem. After an interminable wait, I gave up and tried again an hour later to speak to a human.

An hour later the same message is on your system saying that there is an extended wait for a representative. I cannot spend all day on the phone and proceed with my other commitments for the day, assuming that the problem is on your end and will be resolved. At 10pm that night the problem is not resolved and I finally get through to a representative. I am told that a technician needs to come to my apartment, no information as to why, and schedule the first appointment I can for Monday morning. But I am told that if I call back Saturday after 8am when the dispatch office is open I may be able to get an earlier appointment.

On Saturday October 31 at about 8:15am I spoke to a representative who, in addition to telling me that the dispatcher was not in that early, also informed me that my cable modem service has been out since Friday October 30th at 7am because my cable modem was no longer compatible with the new software upgrade you installed. He proceeded to insist that we received a paper notification of the change two months ago when in fact we received no such thing. I am extremely careful with reading my mail and no such notification ever arrived. I am on paperless billing and do not receive paper correspondence from you.

The conclusion then is that with no notice whatsoever, Friday morning our internet cable stopped working due entirely to the disservice provided by you and your company. Since I always pay every bill on time and still often lose my TV service due to its being actively disconnected, I can only conclude that your <s>staff delights in cutting off the service of those who pay their bills regularly for many years.</s> company does not take the responsibility of providing services that a customer has paid for seriously. [ed. note: We toned that down a bit]

During my call on Saturday I was asked to look at our modem and tell him what model number it is. The representative finally tells me that the problem is that the new software on your end no longer works with my modem. He claimed he will try to get me an earlier appointment once the scheduling office opens, now at 9am. He also told me I can bring the modem in myself to be exchanged for a new one to one of your offices, none of which are in a convenient location or at a convenient time for us. He also informed me that he will try to get me an appointment for either late on Saturday or sometime on Sunday and will call me back by 3pm.

Soon after that conversation, my husband realized that we do not need a full appointment but just for one of your technicians in the area to make a quick stop at our building and exchange the modem. We were told on that call that we would receive a call if there was any problem with this arrangement. We left our old modem in a package with our concierge at the front desk in our building and went out for our appointments for the day. We could not really imagine a problem since all of your technicians were clearly busy all day, there must have been one near here at some point. However, we received neither a phone call nor a new modem at our concierge desk. To neither call nor exchange the modem, a very reasonable request in light of the near deliberate problems that your company had created for us, is the height of unprofessional behavior.

At 4pm, no one has been to our building to exchange the modem. We call your technical support line and find out that nothing was done this morning by either of the technicians we spoke with. While there is a note in the system about our call, there is no record of any attempt to even consider exchanging the modem. There is only still the Monday service appointment in the system. The one I spoke with who claimed he will try to get me an earlier appointment and will call by 3pm did neither. The one my husband spoke with who claimed he will try to have a technician stop by just to exchange the modem did nothing to that effect.

Now at 4:15pm my husband has to race to your 23rd street office to get the modem exchanged, or else be without internet for the entire weekend, an unacceptable situation for us as we have important e-mail that needs to be attended to before Monday. Interestingly, at the 23rd Street office, my husband did not even have to give a name or account number. The serial number on the back of the old modem told them everything they needed to know. This means that your computer system had a record of the fact that we had an incompatible modem and that no one had ever bothered to program your internal customer service system it to warn and re-warn your customers that their equipment will cease to function on a particular date.

After my husband returned with the new modem, doing the job of your company in acquiring a replacement, we plugged it in and nothing happened. We still could not connect to the internet. So I call your customer service line once again. The first question I receive from your representative is “Why did you switch the modem?” Needless to say, my husband and I were completely flabbergasted and annoyed beyond belief. What do you mean that the customer dis-service representative had no idea and no information on the fact that we had a modem you no longer support and now have gone to significant trouble to acquire a new modem with no notice and no help from anyone in your company!

After walking me through unplugging and reconnecting the new modem your representative informs me that there is a problem and we need a technician to come in. He further informs me that there are no weekend appointments available and we are stuck until sometime on Monday without internet service. I then spoke with a supervisor and received the same complete lack of cooperation. She informed me that there must be a problem with the line in our apartment even though nothing has changed. And further informed me that “there is no squeezing in” of emergency appointments and we are simply out of luck.

Is this your idea of being customer service oriented?

Well, another ten minutes or so after hanging up with your completely incompetent staff, the modem suddenly started to work. Apparently, all that was required is more time for a brand new modem to initialize and begin normal operation. Why is this a difficult concept to teach your representatives? Why was I not told that I just needed to wait a bit longer and to call back in half an hour if I still had no service? This simple statement would have saved me an enormous amount of stress fearing I was without internet until sometime mid-day on Monday.

So, you performed a software upgrade to your system making our modem unusable. You did not notify us of this impending change. Even if you did send a letter out and it was somehow lost or overlooked, your system should have known that we still have the old unsupported modem. It is your obligation to repeatedly contact us by postal mail and e-mail and phone to notify us of the impending service disconnect.

Furthermore, there were numerous instances when you should have notified us of the problem. When I first called on Friday at noon your automated system should have immediately said that we have an outdated no longer supported modem that needs to be replaced immediately. Your phone technician Friday night should have told me that. And in addition, we call you on a regular basis when you disconnect our TV service and have to get a technician to send a signal to our cable TV box. Those technicians should have had a big red flag to tell us that we still have an outdated modem that will not work as of October 30th.

You have failed to provide any level of service or reliability or accurate information. Your internal software system is completely useless. It does not notify your staff that we have an outdated unsupported piece of equipment. It does not even tell your staff what we actually have in our home; they have to ask us what the model number is. You clearly train your phone technicians to simply say anything to get people off the phone rather than actually provide service and solve a problem.

<s>Perhaps you should consider a new greeting for your customer service call staff, “Thank you for calling customer service where we’re not satisfied ’til you’re not satisfied.”</s> [ed. We removed this as too inflammatory and not likely to further our cause, even though we both like it.]

After being customers for well over a decade, we consider this whole chain of events insulting, infuriating and completely unacceptable. We insist that we receive at least one month of service for free to make up for the terrible inconvenience, hassle of running around and stress due to your lack of planning, system failure and incompetence. You need to seriously look at your internal software system and its lack of information. You need to seriously re-train your customer service staff to actually know something about how your systems and equipment function to provide some level of service rather than dis-service.

 Sincerely,

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! Feel free to share your story of Time Warner Cable incompetence here. And, don’t forget to write to Mr. Britt regarding your own experience.

In sfarsit guvernul cacat s-a dus pulii de suflet. Ca la o incheiere de capitol vreau sa amintesc tu

In sfarsit guvernul cacat s-a dus pulii de suflet.

Parerea mea.

So I had an interesting encounter yesterday with a worker at a liquor store. Yes, I do like a good g

So I had an interesting encounter yesterday with a worker at a liquor store. Yes, I do like a good glass of wine, and in our state, the only place to buy it is in a liquor store. Ridiculous, yes, I know. We should be able to buy in the grocery stores like so many other states, but that’s a different story altogether.

My husband and I are planning a trip to Napa in a couple of weeks, and in doing my research of our destination, I’ve found that there is a winery there that if you visit during harvest, which we are, and they are pressing grapes, you may have the option of stomping grapes, ala Lucy. Really? Oh my gosh, how fun would that be? Now my husband isn’t too keen on the thought, but I think it will be a ball, even if I’m the only one doing it. He can take pictures.

I thought it might be nice to try some wine from this vintner before we go. My husband found it at one local liquor store for $45 a bottle. That’s a little steep for us, so maybe we’ll just wait until we get there. I was passing a liquor store close to our old house and decided to stop in and see if they had it.

I was meandering through the wine aisles when a little old lady with a horrible bleach-job asked if she could help me. I told her the name of the vineyard, Grgich. Odd name for sure. She proceeded to tell me that not every wine makes it into our state. Yes, I’m well aware of that fact. I informed her that my husband had indeed found it at a local store and I was just checking to see if they carried it. when I told her the name, she said she had never heard of it. Then she tells me, ‘well, it’s not going to say that on the label.’ Um, yeeeessss, it will. It’s the name of the vineyard where it’s produced. Again, ‘It’s not going to be on the label.’ What the hell does she think the label is? how else are we supposed to tell Rutherford from Far Niente from Beringer or Grgich? It would all say ‘Cabernet Sauvignon’ or ‘Merlot’. She made some other comment like she was going to go and ask someone, but decided she was really too busy with straightening her register to ask. When I left, she didn’t make any kind of eye contact. Big shock. They actually pay her to be there and tell people that the name of the vineyard won’t be on the label. What a nutcase!

Kuwait University needs to hire competent people who know how to do their jobs. Spare me the old hen

Kuwait University needs to hire competent people who know how to do their jobs. Spare me the old hens who sit around clucking, drinking tea, and eating kanafa. And then complaining about spending a whole hour at their desks because there are too many customers. Hello? That’s, like, your job? You know, where you come in at 8, work, and then leave at 1. Maybe there wouldn’t be so many people in line if you could do your job efficiently and weren’t taking breaks every 6 minutes to get more samboosa. Just a suggestion.

If you are bored enough to laze around gossiping about who’s kids got what grades at which school, then you AREN’T WORKING HARD ENOUGH. I have a solution: if you are that bored, and want to kill some time, how about… oh, I don’t know, do your work? Yea, that’s what I thought, too. But what, your job is dull, you say? Hmm. I think I would understand if, let’s say, you were over-qualified for the work you were doing, and there was no challenge in it, but the fact that you have to hold a conference with your coworkers every time you get stuck on the simplest tasks makes me doubt that is the case. You know what? I think you’re just a dumb fuck, and your boring desk job is the best you can do. So how about you actually do it properly.
