La jumătatea lunii noiembrie, echipa JMS Performance s-a deplasat în Italia la Parma, pe pista “Autodromo di Franciacorta”, unde tînărul pilot ploieştean Daniel Nicolescu, proaspăt campion al Europei de Sud-Est la karting, a avut primul contact cu un monopost de Formula Gloria.
Monopostul a fost pus la dispoziţia echipei române de către team-ul VFCA. Daniel a avut ocazia să efectueze teste timp de două zile. Prima zi a fost de acomodare, rulînd singur pe pista, iar a doua zi a rulat alături de alţi piloţi din Formula Gloria, Formula Renault, Formula 3, precum şi maşini din cadrul campionatului FIA GT.
Încă de la prima sesiune de vineri Daniel a dat dovadă de maturitate, acomodîndu-se imediat cu comenzile maşinii, iar timpii devenind din ce în ce mai buni la fiecare ieşire pe pistă. A doua zi a fost cu adevărat deosebită pentru pilotul ploieştean, acesta reuşind să fie extrem de rapid, spre surprinderea tuturor în condiţiile în care românul se afla pentru prima dată la volanul unui monopost. Venit direct de pe kart, Daniel a reuşit un timp cu doar jumătate de secundă mai slab decît recordul pistei pentru această categorie.
Team-managerul JMS Performance, Ionuţ Iancu, s-a declarat foarte mulţumit de test. “A fost o experienţă unică, monopostul este extrem de rapid, e altceva decît un kart, în primul rînd frînările la peste 200 km/h oferă senzaţii unice. Maşina este foarte bine echilibrată, iar cutia de viteze este perfect etajată. Sînt foarte mulţumit de evoluţia lui Daniel. S-a acomodat imediat cu maşina şi a impresionat asistenţa, fiind aplaudat la fiecare revenire la boxe de către piloţii şi team-managerii altor echipe“, a declarat Iancu.
Echipa va continua testele, urmînd ca la începutul anului să se ia decizia către ce campionat se va orienta.
Si o parere proprie, sunt chiar uimit pentru ca la o varsta relativ mica, de 15 ani baiatu asta a ajuns sa conduca un monopost de Formula Gloria. Asta inseamna ca in cativa ani poate ajunge, daca da randament maxim, in Formula 1, dar pana aici trebuie muncit. Oricum sa-i uram succes micului pilot !!

Please know you have profoundly helped me grow to who I am today (I hope that’s not a bad thing!). I apologize off the bat for the bad grammar. This is a very stream of consciousness letter. I am thankful for so many people this is going to sound like an acceptance speech. If only I had an award to go with it!For some reason, I feel more thankful than ever. Going through a transformation of sorts puts everything in perspective. When I lost my job this past June, I would have never guessed I would have felt more alive and have met some of the most amazing people. I never dreamed I would be on television/radio and also have a blog, which has had to date over 15,000 hits. I am grateful for EVERYONE who visits day after day!

My Old Tappan friends, it’s been a while but let me know when you’re around the NYC/NJ area. For me to see us all grown up seems a little freaky! It was only yesterday we were singing to Mr. Boscia’s music, seeing Mr. Rossi throw a desk, cutting class, going to the prom. Now some of you have your own families. Keep me in your heart, as I do with you.

Wagner College gave me amazing inspiration to find myself and meet professors and life-long friends who inspire me daily. There are many ways you can gain an education as I learned in my years at Wager!

Clearly, strategic planning is no panacea. Strategic planning is simply a set of concepts, procedures, and tools designed to help leaders, managers, and planners think and act strategically. Used in wise and skillful ways by a “coalition of the willing,” strategic planning can help organizations focus on producing effective decisions and actions that further the organization’s mission, meet in mandates, and satisfy key stakeholders. But strategic planning is not a substitute for strategic thinking and acting. Only caring and committed people can do that. And when used thoughtlessly, strategic planning can actually drive out precisely the kind of strategic thought and action it is supposed to promote.

Furthermore, strategic planning is not a substitute for leadership. There is simply no substitute for leadership when it comes to using strategic planning to enhance organizational performance. At least some key decision makers and process champions must be committed to the strategic planning process, or any attempts to use it are bound to fail.

In addition, strategic planning is not synonymous with creating an organizational strategy. Organizational strategies have numerous sources, both planned and unplanned. Strategic planning is likely to result in statement of organizational intentions, but what is realized in practice will be some combination of what is intended and what emerges along the way. Strategic planning can help organizations develop and implement effective strategies, but they should also remain open to unforeseen opportunities. Too much attention to strategic planning and excessive reverence for strategic plans can build organizations to other unplanned and unexpected—yet incredibly useful—sources of information, insight, and action.

The discipline necessary for strategic planning can be of two sorts. The first harkens back to Latin root of the word “discipline,” emphasizing instruction, training, education, and learning. The second embodies later interpretations of the word, emphasizing order, control, and punishment. Emphasis should be placed on education and learning, although there clearly are occasions when imposing order, taking control, and enforcing appropriate sanctions are appropriate. Certainly, key leaders, managers, and planners can best use strategic planning as an educational and learning tool, to help them figure out what is really important and what should be done about it. Sometimes this means following a particular sequence of steps and preparing formal strategic plans, but not necessarily. The ultimate goal of strategic planning should not be a rigid adherence to a particular process or an instance on the production of plans. Instead, strategic planning should promote wise strategic thought and action on behalf of an organization and its key stakeholders. What steps to follow, in what sequence, and whether or not to prepare formal plans are subsidiary concerns.
