HEALTH CARE PROTEST - WASHINGTON DC - NOVEMBER 2009 - KILL THE BILL

“Now it’s America’s turn, and this will not be a short debate,” Sen. Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, warned after Majority Leader Harry Reid unveiled long-awaited legislation Wednesday night to extend coverage to 30 million more Americans and force insurance companies to take all comers.

“Higher premiums, tax increases and Medicare cuts to pay for more government. The American people know that is not reform,” McConnell said.

Yes, according to The Fund for Personal Liberty. The organization is backing a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of mandatory Medicare enrollment, and says it will do the same against a national individual mandate, should such a directive be a result of health care reform legislation.

“Any mandate to purchase health insurance is an invalid exercise of the powers granted to Congress by Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution of the United States,” says Kent Masterson Brown, lead counsel for the TFPL, adding that the fund “will promptly challenge the constitutionality of any mandate to purchase health insurance.”

TFPL currently is underwriting and providing legal counsel in Hall v. Sebelius, an October 2008 lawsuit in which five senior citizens are challenging HHS and Social Security Administration policies forcing American citizens to participate in Medicare, Part A, the hospital insurance benefit program, or lose their Social Security benefits.

Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Vice Presidential Candidate-elect Sarah Palin aired November 16, 2009.  From the beginning, Oprah sets the record straight telling audiences she never “snubbed” Governor Palin during the 2008 Presidential election campaign.

For the first time in her career, as a private citizen, Oprah publicly supported a Presidential candidate (Pres. Obama).  With that in mind, Oprah made the decision not to have any candidates on her show.

Oprah did remind her audience that she said she would like to invite Vice President-elect Palin on her show after the campaign.  Oprah made good on her word November 16, 2009, one day before Sarah’s tell-all Going Rogue: An American Life seven-week #1 pre-sale best-seller release.

The interview with Palin was fascinating.  Palin appeared calm, confident and focused on what is good, right and true in her world – and in our world – the United States of America.

Oprah asked very candid questions and the Vice-President-elect gave very candid, unscripted answers.  We can be sure that this show will be one of Oprah’s viewership record-breakers.

Palin discussed the double-standard that was placed on her family in terms of the media circus surrounding her and Todd Palin’s children.  President-elect Obama made it clear that his children were off limits to media scrutiny and the media world honored (and continues to honor) his request.  Not so with the Palin children and now grandchild.

Palin discussed her teen-age daughter’s embarrassment as her untimely pregnancy was broadcast globally.  Sarah, knowing that their situation would most-likely be made known tried to present a positive Pro-Life and pro-protection light on the situation.  The McCain campaign rejected the Palin plan thus subjecting Palin’s daughter to media and late night comedian fodder.

This conversation, of course, led to the baby’s father Levi Johnston, who, Palin reports, now wants to be addressed as Ricky Hollywood.  Sarah understandably rejects his recent antics in the adult world of pornography and rebuttals the lies he is spreading about the Palin family.

There was, however, compassion in her voice for Levi and – when pressed by Oprah – an invitation was extended by Sarah to Levi for him to join the Palin’s and his newborn son at Thanksgiving dinner.

On Todd and Sarah’s down-syndrome baby, Sarah shared a touching and vulnerable private moment between her and husband Todd.  Sarah said to Todd, “Are you thinking, God – why us?”  Todd replied, “Why not us God?”

When asked by Oprah if a woman could hold a high-ranking office while having five children to care for, Sarah pointed to Todd and to her extended family who have always been there to support with the raising of the children.  Sarah also stated that even though she and Todd are sometimes separated for long periods of time due to Todd’s career, their marriage is very strong and Sarah is very thankful for Todd.

Sarah stated that today’s American women can have it all, but some things may need to take the back burner.  She made it clear that she was not promoting that women try to do what she is doing without strong family support.

On leaving the Alaska Governorship, Sarah simply states that once she returned to Alaska after the 2008 Presidential campaign, Alaska was not the same due to the spotlight on her life.  Media and Obama-ites were turning Alaska up-side-down looking for dirt on the Governor and her family.  Thus, upon returning, the Governor decided to stepped-down to prevent her State from being hampered further by her presence there.   Her father stated that, “Sarah is not retreating, but reloading.”

When asked about running for President in 2012, Sarah says she is focused on [supporting Conservative candidates in] 2010.  She drifted away about 2012 stating that her youngest son would be heading to kindergarten in that year.

One of the best moments made by Sarah Palin during the “Are you running for President in 2012” segment was that “…you do not need a title to make a difference.”  (Reader remember this as it applies to all of our lives.)

Oprah started to close the interview by mentioning that she heard Sarah might be landing a spot as a talk show host.  Oprah asked, “Should I be worried?”  Sarah laughed, did not deny the question and replied that Oprah has nothing to worry about because Oprah is “the queen of talk shows.”

Oprah asked if there was anything else that she wanted to say.  Sarah replied crediting God and Todd as her strength.

Oprah closed the interview stating that Sarah’s new book, Going Rogue: An American Life, is “A fascinating read.”

Kudos to Oprah for presenting this great American woman back to the public spotlight with kindness and sanity.  May the integrity, graciousness and conservative Christian values that are Todd and Sarah Palin be clearly seen by the entire world.

Do I want Sarah to run for President in 2012?  Honestly, I am not sure yet.  I will, however, continue to support this incredible woman and her family.

Women should be PROUD of the progress that Sarah Palin (and Hillary Clinton) bring to the political table.  My hope is that young ladies all over the world will look to Sarah for inspiration as to how a woman – who commits her ways to the Lord – can be lifted up into the public spotlight making a difference in the lives of millions.

President Obama said Nov. 9, 2009 that he hopes to see the House health care bill’s restrictions on federal funding of abortion changed so that it pleases both sides [of the heated abortion issue].

Obama made his comments to ABC News two days after the House passed a health care bill that included a pro-life amendment by DEMOCRAT Bart Stupak (Mich.) AND REPUBLICAN Joe Pitts (Pa.).

The amendment prevents a government-run public option from covering abortion and prohibits federal subsidies given to lower-income people from paying for insurance plans that cover abortion.

…Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee, said in a statement. “The phoniness of Obama’s claim that he has been trying to preserve the ’status quo’ on abortion policy should be evident to any observer by now.

In reality, the White House and top Democratic congressional leaders have been working hard to create a national federal government health plan that would fund abortion on demand, just as Obama promised Planned Parenthood.”

In a released statement after the health-care bill passed the House, [Professional Abortion Group] Planned Parenthood urged its constituents to contact the White House: “President Obama campaigned on a promise to put reproductive health care at the center of his reform plan.”

“Supporters of women’s health voted for him and contributed to his campaign in record numbers — and now it’s time for the president to reaffirm his commitment to women’s health, and demand that Congress reject any bill that leaves women worse off under health care reform than they are today.”

“Despite his rhetoric, there is just simply no room for compromise when human life is at stake. Either you fund abortion or you don’t.”

Yes the House passed a health care bill that included a pro-life amendment by Democrat Bart Stupak  AND Republican Joe Pitts.  The amendment — passed 240-194, with 64 Democrats voting in the affirmative.  Praise God on these bi-partisan numbers!

PELOSI HEALTH CARE PROTEST - WASHINGTON DC - NOVEMBER KILL THE BILL IN THE SENATE

WASHINGTON – The glow from a health care triumph faded quickly for President Barack Obama on Sunday as Democrats realized the bill they fought so hard to pass in the House has nowhere to go in the Senate.

Speaking from the Rose Garden about 14 hours after the late Saturday vote, Obama urged senators to be like runners on a relay team and “take the baton and bring this effort to the finish line on behalf of the American people.”

The problem is that the Senate won’t run with it. The government health insurance plan included in the House bill is unacceptable to a few Democratic moderates who hold the balance of power in the Senate.

If a government plan is part of the deal, “as a matter of conscience, I will not allow this bill to come to a final vote,” said Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Connecticut independent whose vote Democrats need to overcome GOP filibusters.

“The House bill is dead on arrival in the Senate,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said dismissively.

Democrats did not line up to challenge him. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has yet to schedule floor debate and hinted last week that senators may not be able to finish health care this year.

The health care bill passing through Congress November 7, 2009 is another step towards removing American rights and freedoms that SHOULD have been protected by the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Update 6:45 pm:  Madame Speaker Nancy Pelosi just finished an eloquent speech.  Please, with all due respect to Madame Speaker of the House Pelosi, DO NOT BELIEVE THE SPIN.  This plan is froth with peril, for you, for your family, for the unborn, for the elderly.

Friday, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail.  The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

In response to the JCT letter, Camp said:  “This is the ultimate example of the Democrats’ command-and-control style of governing – buy what we tell you or go to jail.  It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.”

Could this health-scare bill be another distraction to slip more Anti-American Progressive Party plans into our society?

Washington should be focused on soldiers, the economy and jobs – yet instead they PUSH, PUSH, PUSH to “transform” our nation using Chicago-gangsta-style politics and puppeteering Nancy Pelosi to levels of national embarrassment.

Some would say that their desire is to turn the United States of America into a socialist neo-Nazi society – a green utopia dependant on government with mandatory approval in all aspects of life.

Real American’s reject this view — as evidenced November 3, 2009, when seven-million people voted across two states flipping back “progressive” time to a more conservative mind-set.
