Je remarque de plus en plus que les groupe de musique, d’artistes solo, labels, et associations prennent leur place sur les réseaux sociaux. Cette situation m’enchante puisque c’est en partie le message qu’on répandait par nos formations à la SOPREF. Un message qui disait : servez-vous du web (myspace, facebook, reverbnation, lastfm, twitter…) pour rejoindre votre public, mais surtout un plus grand public.

Là où je désenchante, c’est quand je vois entre autres des comptes twitter de groupes de musique, artistes solo, labels… Qui ont 6666 suiveux de leurs activités (donc, qui s’intéressent à eux et leurs activités) mais qui suivent eux même ne suivent que 12 voir 60 personnes.

Je m’explique, le web 2.0 mise sur la communication directe entre l’amateur musical et l’artiste. Et bien désolé de vous l’apprendre, mais la communication, ça va dans les 2 sens. Si le suiveux twitter prend la peine de te suivre. Fais donc de même simplement par respect pour lui. Ou simplement pour contrer la barrière qu’il y a entre toi et lui.

Certains diront que ça ne les intéresse pas de savoir la vie des gens qui les suivent. Premièrement, mieux connaître son public n’est jamais mauvais (au contraire!). Deuxièmement, on ne sait jamais le fait de simplement les suivre peut nous apprendre une foule d’informations pertinentes sur d’autres groupes, des concours, des opportunités de dernière minute. Troisièmement, troisièmement rien, s’ils n’ont pas encore compris. Ils ne comprendront juste jamais.

Si vous désirez voir un modèle à suivre, allez jeter un coup d’oeil au compte Indica, Le label est plutôt exemplaire sur le sujet.

P.S. Ce message peut aussi s’adresser aux nombreux journalistes qui sont en train de débarquer dans les réseaux sociaux. Mais qui se balancent complètement de savoir qui s’intéressent à eux…

L’annuncio di una finanziaria blindata, nella legislaura che ha visto approvare solo due provvedimenti di iniziativa parlamentare, ha fatto salire la frustrazione dei peones Pdl oltre il livello di guardia.

E a chi fa notare che ormai tutti i posti sono già occupati, rispondono che a marzo ci sarà un nuovo giro di poltrone, «giusto il tempo di approvare la leggina che sta al Senato».

Posti, come al solito, promessi ad un numero di parlamentari di gran lunga superiore a quelli disponibili, tra Camera e Senato almeno dieci volte di più.

Ma i finiani non paiono intenzionati a cedere nella battaglia per un diverso Pdl e per questo vengono controllati a vista dai più stretti collaboratori del Cavaliere, quelli che da Palazzo Grazioli sempre più spesso si spostano a Montecitorio, soprattutto nei giorni di calma, quando non c’è seduta, per vedere se Fini riceve qualcuno.

They’ve already played with HEALTH and Crystal Castles, but with their latest 7” Indica Ritual are really making huge strides. Currently in the process of recording their first album, the band’s two track single simply raises the weight of expectation upon their long player.

A joint venture by Samizdat and Post Music, this is a curiously eclectic release. What’s most surprising is the band’s location – their sound is one of industrial New York, place that brought us Battles and Liars, two massive influences upon Indica Ritual’s songs. But far from hopping around the lower-east side, they’re trotting around Liverpool and making some of the most exciting math rock you’re ever likely to hear from England’s North-West.

Though the intricate A-side ‘Seamless Ejaculation’ may have the better title and sound a lot like something you could’ve heard on ‘Mirrored’, but it’s ‘Alpha Male’ that really catches the eye. Filled with choice cuts of synth pop and the kind of chanting that Les Savy Fav would be proud of, it’s quirky and brilliant. 2010 is certain to bring bigger and better things for this bizarre quintet.

Strain/Brand: Hawaiian “Da Kine” (“that kind, i.e., ”the one”)

Origin: Sativa

Impression: Classic Hawaiian aroma … tropical fruity smell, with crisp back tones of sativa. Sticky, hairy, covered with crystals. And it tastes like it smells. Brings you back to the islands, trade winds blowing through your hair, hibiscus flowers blooming, pretty girls slicked up with coconut oil … Ahh … “da kine, bruddah, da kine”

Buzz: Easy to smoke … tastes of pure sativa, finishes with mango, hey, pretty mild smoke and then … wa-wa-wa-wipeout on the Banzai Pipeline … whoa, the room is spinning … or is it my head … eyes start flashing and warping at the edges … everything is funny, lots of laughs with this one. Very clear-headed yet buzzing, almost vibrating energetic high. Would be a killer morning/afternoon smoke.

Price: US$60 for an “eighth” (3.5 grams)

Summary: The legendary status of Hawaiian is well-deserved. Perhaps not as powerful as genetically modified super-buds from the labs in Amsterdam but a pure, natural high, especially in this outdoor-grown version. The power of the islands demands your respect but treats you with that aloha spirit. Mahalo!

right now i’m in a kind of english-mood. it’s really boring to write everyday about the same things in german, so i thought, why not trying it in english?

my mother (god bless her) is cooking a nice beef and vegetable soup for me, so i can have tomorrow a nice lunch without getting bothered by my pancreas. i’m still not in the mood of having an operation on friday but what has to be done has to be done.

right now i really enjoy staying at my parent’s and it is so great to be taken care of. i love my independent life, i really do, but sometimes it’s easier (especially when i’m sick) to stay with my family. i have a nice couch with a flat screen in front of me – we’ve still fatscreens at home – and i can use my notebook with wireless lan. that’s a technical improvement!

to lighten up my mood (sometimes i’m really scared about the whole operation thing) i try to drink a hell of a lot of tea, eat dark bread with lowfat quark… i would love to eat some fresh vegetables or fruits, but it isn’t possible at the moment. well, later… and some fish… oh how i long for fish.

and i’m looking for some nice concerts… well, it’s like jinxed: all the finnish bands have a touring-break (nightwish, him, apocalyptica), indica are touring in finnland and the only band korpiklaani is playing really close my hometown and i’d love to see them live… but i have this fucking gall bladder operation. damn genetic material. i’m to young for this.

With this post we want to clarify some of the misconceptions that a lot of people seem to have on skunk.

Firstly, let us point out that Skunk is nothing more then a name for (mostly indica) potent weed. It is NOT some genetically engineered super dangerous new type of weed. (special announcement for the media; did you guys notice the word NOT? )

For your information, the Dutch ska band “Doe maar” made an album called skunk back in 1981! So the term has been around for a while. However, even if it was a new kind of weed.. Will this new super potent weed be somehow more dangerous than the weed smoked 20 years ago? So what if weed is more potent? This only means that you have to smoke less of it.. Isn’t that supposed to be a good thing? And what about hash? Shouldn’t this be even more dangerous? Even in the seventies people smoked hash which is a lot more potent than any skunk you can buy nowadays.

The third argument that the anti-legalization lobby likes to use is that skunk/cannabis use somehow causes schizophrenia? Let’s pretend for a moment that this is proven to be true ( scientists still seem to disagree ) isn’t that all the more reason to have a legal and regulated market for it? What is the worst that can happen? In the Netherlands adults are allowed to buy small amounts of weed and this has worked just fine for the last 20-odd years.

Just to compare the two systems.. 9.7 percent of youngsters (15-24) use cannabis at least once a month in the Netherlands, compared to 15.8 percent in the UK. ( source )

Mais uma rede social que merece destaque, estou falando de uma iniciativa nacional chamada indica. Esta rede social tem como cunho principal auxiliar os usuários na busca de emprego através de indicações que serão realizadas pelos contatos que te conhecem. Nada foi feito além de colocar no mundo virtual o que ocorre nas empresas, pois a grande maioria das contratações são feitas através de indicações.  Existem soluções parecidas desenvolvidas em outros países, como por exemplo o Linkedin. Me cadastrei e gostei da usabilidade, eu indico!

Achei algumas fotos do que a gente pode encontrar no Bazar da Doc Dog, e simplesmente cheguei a conclusão de que eu preciso realmente ir correndo pra lá antes que eu acabe saindo de mãos vazias ou perdendo aqueles 70% porque economia é TUDO.

One of the unfortunate side effects of working absurd hours in office is that I have to take a cab ride home late in the night. And at times these rides are the most entertaining part of going to work. Reason being the ubiquitous cab driver.

These fellas are generally treated with contempt, mostly because of their ridiculously rash driving, and rightly so. Personally, I’m shit scared of sitting in the front seat, especially since I gave up driving two years ago and now realize how incredibly insane other drivers can be. But then there are also some fun observations one can make. For one, they are really good at manipulating traffic. Part of that is because of the fear and respect they command from others on the road, but its also fascinating to see two Indica cabs sparring for that extra inch of road. Its a battle of wits between two drivers, like one of those Western gunfights, to see who blinks first, and eventually gives way. Probably the only way these guys can keep sane is by indulging themselves in this way.

And then there is the other side to the cabbies. The one that is solely reserved for that rarest among rare species in Bangalore – the IT engineer who speaks Kannada in public without apprehension. Ok, so we are not that rare, but you get the drift. The very moment that a cabbie sees his latest customer is also a local fella, and one that isn’t ashamed to speak Kannada, an ethereal glow comes over his face. He automatically assumes I want to engage in a long protracted conversation with him on every damn topic from politics to philosophy. And after spending 12 straight hours in a cubicle, all I want to do is to curl up in a fetal position and wait for some long-awaited sleep to take over my pathetic existence of a life.

Now I don’t mind the odd exchange of small talk with the driver – the cheeky jabber at a fat traffic cop, the odd swearing at a rickshaw driver, its fine. But then there are limits. One sure-fire way to recognize a chatterbox driver is when he makes his opening statement, just after I settle in the back seat, and tell him my destination. There will be a pause of a few minutes while we get out of the office campus and into the highway. And then the 5 words that I am dreadful of hearing;

“Yen saar, kelsa jaasthi naa”. [Too much work ehh..]

I don’t know if there is a worse thing to ask a guy taking a cab home at 11 pm. But human beings are all self-involved and don’t quite consider the obvious stupidity of their statements, and cabbies are no different, so I don’t hold it against him. The bigger problem at this stage is the question above was only a starter. A clear indication that this guy wants to spend the next few hours making inane small talk, while he tries to impress me with his worldly-wise insight. At this juncture, there is actually very little one can do than replying. Can’t pretend to be asleep, cos well, no one can ever sleep in an Indica cab zooming around in the pothole-ridden streets of Bangalore. If I ignore him, he would think I’m being a prude and arrogant. Which by itself is not really a problem, except he’s in control of my life for the duration of the ride. And you don’t want to piss off  a cabbie who is already infamous for his rash driving habits. So in the interest of self-preservation alone, I reply back.

The conversations take some fairly predictable patterns, starting obviously with the state of the roads, or the traffic. Then I would hear the cabbie’s version of his Perfect World, his version of the Kingdom of Heaven, filled with astute vision and acumen to solve almost every single problem mankind faces. Every cabbie will have his own version of the Universal Traffic Problem Solution. Other fascinating insights include The Comprehensive Traffic Cop Elimination Theorem, The 10 Step Guide to eliminating Poverty, Corruption and Illiteracy in modern India. One time I even heard a Comprehensive Global Terrorism Eradication Scheme.

Would I actually give his solutions any thought or feedback ? Hell no, don’t wanna piss him off by being rational or anything like that. I just let him rant on.  Just nod along and give him my special grunt. Yes, a grunt. My grunt is a combination of “Hmm,heh,grrr,phew” and some other expressions. Goes something like “Hmgrmphehew”. Its doesn’t really express any single emotion, just an acknowledgment of the cabbie’s existence. And its all he wants.

However, sometimes,  just on rare occasions, if I’m in a really nasty mood, I assume a false identity and tell him his idea is brilliant and ask him to continue. I let him give full details. I then pretend to think for about 5 minutes by blankly staring out the window.  Then tell him again how brilliant his idea is, promise to take it up with the “concerned people” and keep him in the loop. Yeah, yeah its cruel, and childish, and incredibly petty I know, but hey there are limits to which one can hear about how banning all rickshaws make the roads safer. There is something weirdly satisfying about faking sincerity and convincing another person that your dad is a diplomat in the Indian government and he can really “get all the damn boats to be screened before entering the country”. That was from the Global Terrorism Eradication Scheme if you hadn’t realized already.

And when I get home, I let myself a goofy smile and go to sleep thinking I just made one guy’s life a little better. After all, I just indulged a cab driver’s fantasy for whacked out ideas in social welfare and world peace.  That has to be good right ?

And then, another night, another cab, another story.
