I Love this world, eventough there are a lot of sad and difficult things. I like this world very much because I could meet everyone! I know you know how wonderful this world is

“The world that I love, this world that’s everyone tried to protect. That small hope left in your heart! I believe a small hope is in your heart. I believe. I don’t wanna loose you or everyone”

Hmm.. Selain itu, karena kita disini jarang dandan (baca : ga punya make up) jadinya waktu acara seperti ini cukup kelabakan lah. So, kita pake make up seadanya.. just being natural aja, kan cantik luar dalam.. hahahahaha.

Orszag today released details of the final Fiscal Year 2009 budget results. Budget Results for Fiscal Year 2009 A summary of the FY2009 data, released as part of the September 2009 Monthly Treasury Statement of Receipts and Outlays of the United States Government, shows that the federal deficit dropped by $162 billion from a projected $1,580 billion in the August Mid-Session Review (MSR) to the final figure of $1,417 billion.

Fiscal Year 2009 Receipts

Total receipts for FY2009 were $2,105 billion, $31 billion higher than the MSR estimate of $2,074 billion. Higher-than-expected collections of individual income taxes and corporation income taxes accounted for most of the net increase in receipts relative to the MSR. Table 2 displays actual receipts and estimates from the Budget and MSR by source.

Individual income taxes were $915 billion, $12 billion higher than the MSR estimate. Higher-than-estimated non-withheld payments accounted for $5 billion of the increase in individual income taxes relative to the MSR.

Corporation income taxes were $138 billion, $17 billion higher than the MSR estimate. Inaction on the Administration’s proposal to expand net operating loss carrybacks increased corporation income tax payments $28 billion relative to the MSR.

Social insurance and retirement receipts were $891 billion, the same as the MSR estimate, although there were offsetting differences among the sources of this category of receipts. A $2 billion increase in employment and general retirement receipts relative to the MSR was attributable to the lower-than-expected reallocation of withheld tax payments from the Social Security and Medicare Trust Funds to individual income taxes, as described above.

Excise taxes were $62 billion, $3 billion lower than the MSR estimate. This decline was attributable to lower-than-expected demand for taxed goods.

Estate and gift taxes were $23 billion, $3 billion lower than the MSR estimate. This decline was in large part attributable to a decline in the value of taxable estates relative to the MSR estimate.

Customs duties were $22 billion, within $100 million of the MSR estimate.

Miscellaneous receipts were $52 billion, $8 billion higher than the MSR estimate. Higher-than-expected deposits of earnings by the Federal Reserve System, attributable to higher-than-expected returns on its investment portfolio and its foreign currency holdings, accounted for $7 billion of the increase in miscellaneous receipts relative to the MSR estimate.

Total Recovery Act outlays in FY2009 were $113 billion, with the largest components in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to cover increased Medicaid payments, the Department of Labor to provide higher unemployment benefits, and the Department of Education for payments to states from the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund and for increases in Pell grants.

Department of Agriculture — Outlays for the Department of Agriculture were $114 billion, $6.4 billion below the MSR estimate. Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) actual outlays were about $2 billion less than MSR estimates. This occurred because fewer producers than anticipated took out commodity loans and more paid them back before the end of the fiscal year; dairy prices increased late in the fiscal year.

Department of Commerce — Department of Commerce outlays were $11 billion in FY2009, $1.1 billion below the MSR estimate. Over half of this difference ($558 million) related to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, which administers the digital-to-analog converter box coupon program and public safety interoperable communications grants; both programs spent less in FY2009 than anticipated.

Department of Defense — Outlays for the Department of Defense (DOD) were $637 billion, $4.4 billion, or 0.7 percent, less than estimated in the MSR. There is no single explanation for the differences between projected and actual outlays, but several examples illustrate the types of variance seen in accounts. For example, DOD spent $1.5 billion less than projected for the Air Force to purchase.

Department of Education — Outlays for the Department of Education were $53 billion, $3.9 billion higher than the MSR estimate. Spending for the new State Fiscal Stabilization Fund, created by the Recovery Act, was $7.1 billion higher than expected, due to accelerated State drawdowns of this funding.

Department of Energy — Outlays for the Department of Energy were $24 billion, $3.5 billion lower than the MSR estimate. Outlays for the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy account were $1.34 billion below MSR estimates due to slower-than-expected disbursement of Recovery Act funds, particularly for the Weatherization Assistance Program.

Department of Health and Human Services — Outlays for the Department of Health and Human Services were $796 billion, $17.6 billion below the MSR estimate. A little less than half of the total difference was in outlays for Medicaid, which were $7.6 billion (2.9 percent) lower than MSR estimates, due to slower-than-expected growth in State Medicaid spending.

Department of Homeland Security — Outlays for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) were $52 billion in FY2009, $1.8 billion more than the MSR estimate. The difference was attributable primarily to a decrease in fee collections and higher-than-expected outlays from a number of agencies within the Department. DHS fees were below the MSR estimate by approximately $700 million.

Department of Housing and Urban Development — The Department of Housing and Urban Development’s total FY2009 outlays were $61 billion, $1.8 billion below the MSR estimate. Most of this difference ($0.9 billion) was due to receipts generated by Federal Housing Administration (FHA) single-family and Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA) loan guarantee programs with negative subsidy rates. The loan volume of these programs surged as private mortgage insurance largely vacated the housing finance market.

Department of Justice — FY2009 outlays for the Department of Justice (DOJ) were $28 billion, $1.4 billion below the MSR estimate. DOJ’s actual outlays for State and local law enforcement assistance in the Office of Justice Programs were $1.0 billion lower due to slower-than-expected outlays of the Recovery Act grantee funds. The Recovery Act funds have been fully obligated to state and local law enforcement programs, but the grantees are not spending the funds as quickly as had been projected.

Department of Transportation — Outlays for the Department of Transportation were $73 billion, $7.5 billion lower than projected in the MSR. Actual outlays for DOT Recovery Act programs were $4.5 billion less than estimated, with the difference primarily in highway, transit, and rail programs. This was largely because of the time and steps required by project sponsors to start work on a new set of previously unplanned projects.

Department of the Treasury — Outlays for the Department of Treasury totaled $703 billion, $98.4 billion lower than the MSR estimate. Major differences from the MSR estimate include the following:

TARP had net outlays of $153.9 billion for debt, equity, guarantee, and housing programs, $82.3 billion lower than the MSR estimate, most of which was due to the timing of disbursements that were expected to occur in FY2009 but are now assumed to shift to FY2010.

Under the Government Sponsored Enterprise (GSE) Preferred Stock Purchase Agreements program, the Department of the Treasury’s capital payments to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac totaled $95.6 billion in FY2009, $10.3 billion less than estimated in the MSR, due to better-than-expected financial results at the GSEs.

Net outlays for two Treasury accounts related to exchange stabilization were $2.6 billion below the MSR estimate – the Exchange Stabilization Fund, which Treasury uses at times to maintain a stable international financial system, and its child account, the Exchange Stabilization Fund Money Market Mutual Fund Guaranty Facility.

Outlays for refundable tax credits and related programs that are part of the Internal Revenue Code and administered by Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service, such as the child tax credit, were $6.6 billion lower than estimated in the MSR. The largest difference was for a new Recovery Act program of cash assistance to States in lieu of low-income housing credits, which outlayed $3.1 billion less than estimated in the MSR. While these funds were obligated in FY2009, they are now expected to be drawn down and outlayed in FYs 2010 and 2011.

Interest on the public debt, which includes interest paid to government accounts as well as interest paid to the public, was $383.4 billion, $11.1 billion lower than the MSR estimate. Interest paid to government accounts was $14.0 billion lower than projected, due primarily to lower interest rates, including $4.9 billion in lower interest paid to trust funds and $8.0 billion in lower interest paid to the DOD Medicare-Eligible Retiree Health Care Fund.

An additional $14.4 billion of the difference in Treasury outlays was due to intragovernmental interest transactions with credit financing accounts, including $30.1 billion lower-than-projected interest paid to credit financing accounts and $44.6 billion lower-than-anticipated offsetting receipts of interest from credit financing accounts.

Corps of Engineers — Outlays for the Army Corps of Engineers civil works program were $7 billion, $5.8 billion lower than the MSR estimate. Much of the difference was due to changes in construction project schedules made after the MSR and increases in offsetting collections for work that the Corps performed on behalf of other Federal agencies under its reimbursable program.

General Services Administration — GSA’s total outlays were $0.3 billion, $1.1 billion less than what was projected in the MSR. $890 million was associated with the Federal Buildings Fund (FBF) and the Acquisition Services Fund. For the Acquisition Services Fund, actual revenue was $251 million higher than anticipated. For the FBF, actual revenue was more than $200 million higher than anticipated.

Office of Personnel Management — Outlays for the Office of Personnel Management were $72 billion, $4.1 billion higher than the MSR estimate. OPM outlays were higher due to legislative relief provided to the US Postal Service in the 2010 Continuing Resolution, which allowed that agency to make only $1.4 billion of the expected $5.4 billion end-of-year payment for USPS retiree health.

Other Defense Civil Programs — Outlays for Other Defense Civil programs were $57 billion, $8.8 billion more than the MSR estimate. Most of this difference was due to lower-than-projected earnings on investments of the Medicare-Eligible Retiree Health Care Fund (MERHCF), which are offset against gross outlays to calculate net outlays. These lower-than-projected earnings were largely due to a less-than-expected return on the Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) investments in the MERHCF portfolio.

Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation — The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) had net actual outlays of $6.7 billion, $5.3 billion above the MSR estimate. The difference was almost entirely due to greater-than-expected payments related to the resolution of failed banks.

National Credit Union Administration — Outlays for the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) were $16 billion, $1.5 billion lower than the MSR estimate, predominantly due to one unanticipated transaction. The Credit Liquidity Facility transferred $1.75 billion from the U.S. Central Federal Credit Union to the U.S. Treasury, resulting in an unexpected net in-flow of cash in August 2009.

United States Postal Service — The United States Postal Service (USPS) had net actual outlays of $0.4 billion, $3.5 billion lower than the MSR estimate. This difference was almost entirely due to the recent legislated change in the statutorily mandated USPS payment to the Office of Personnel Management for retiree health benefits liabilities.

Undistributed Offsetting Receipts — Undistributed offsetting receipts were $274 billion in FY2009, $3.7 billion lower than the MSR estimate. Interest received by trust funds was $181.6 billion, $4.9 billion lower than the MSR estimate, due primarily to lower-than-estimated interest earnings for the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund.

Indonesia today is a biggest producer of CPO (crude palm oil) in the world and has the largest palm

Indonesia today is a biggest producer of CPO (crude palm oil) in the world and has the largest palm oil plantation in the world. Palm area in Indonesia in 2007, according Dirjenbun, Department of Agriculture, estimated to reach 6.6 million ha and the production of CPO in the year reached 17.3 million tons. The area and production is expected to continue to rise given the current intensively conducted slowly opening new oil, especially in the island of Kalimantan and Papua.

Oil palm plantation and CPO production of Indonesia (Data from Dirjenbun).

Palm oil trees produce palm fruit collected in bunches, therefore, often called as Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB). Adult oil palm tree is already in optimal production can produce FFB weight between 15-30 kg / bunche.

FFBs are then transported to the factory for further processed to produce palm oil. The main product of oil mill is crude palm oil palm (CPO) and palm kernel oil. CPO is extracted from the fiber, which is part bettween shell and skin. Meanwhile, the pulp will produce palm kernel oil. Palm varieties with thick rind are preferred by farmer, because this varieties of palm fruit which has a high oil yield.

Mass balance of processing palm oil at the mill are described by the picture below. From each ton of processed FFB can produce 140 to 200 kg of CPO. In addition to the processing of CPO also generate waste / product side, such as: waste water(POME=Palm Oil Mill Effluent), palm shell, fiber, and palm oil empty fruit bunches.

Liquid waste produced very much, and it ranged between 600 to 700 kg.

Also produced fiber and shells that reach 190 kg.

Fiber and shells usually used as fuel of boiler. Steam produced from boiler used to generate electricity and boiling FFB before further process in the mill.

Abundantly another waste beside paml oil effluent are oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) that can reach 230 kg every ton of processed FFB. Its is very high in volume and mounting in palm oil mill. Previously OPEFB discarded without chopped first. Consider the image below showing the mountain of OPFEB in oil palm mill.

But now some oil palm mill have started to chopping OPEFB. Chopping machine used have large capacity and some in one palm oil mill.

Chopping process can reduce volume of OPEFB and easier to further process.

According to data from Dirjenbun, potential of those OPEFB are very big as showed in picture bellow.

Rupanya susah banget memotret Human Interest.

First of all, vistaprint.com screwed up my order for the “trip certificates” i created.

First of all, vistaprint.com screwed up my order for the “trip certificates” i created. After making myself VERY clear that it was an EXTREME inconvenience, I got my money back and hopefully the certificates will be in the mailbox this afternoon. More and more people have found out about the trip and want a piece of it! I’m happy so many of my mother’s friends are supportive and excited about this. They all say the same thing – “Good for you. She’d never do it for herself. She deserves it.”

Terry calls all the time to update me on buying luggage. Oh yeah, Terry and I are splitting a nice luggage set for mom…. I thought it’d be a nice touch and at least it’s something she can open on her birthday or Christmas. Every time Terry calls I’m with mom… it’s so funny because every time she calls and leaves a message, I make the same mistake- I listen to the message! If any of you know Terry you know she has a very distinct voice… HIIIIIIIIIIII CHRISTIIIIIIIIIIIINAAAA…… So… bla bla bla I’m at Sears I see this set and this set and this set and the deal is better than the deal at Target but I’m not sure what color… Khaki? Navy? Black? Anyway, call me back…

… then two minutes later I get another message… HIIIII CHRISTINAAAAAAAAAa IT’S ME AGAIN! I’m gonna just go buy this stuff… I promise it’s nice.

So my mom is right next to me this entire time and clearly knows Terry’s voice. I wonder what she suspects. The other day she said under her breath.. I can’t believe Terry calls you more than she calls me…. HA!

Anyway, we have been having a great time together. Unemployment has left me with more than enough time for Sue, Noah and even my grandparents. Last week I had my 26th birthday party and Sue and Noah came!!

she’ll probably kill me for posting this pic too…

Anyway, trip certificates should be in the mail soon.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Why has President Yudhoyono not dismissed the head of the Indonesian national police as a response t

Why has President Yudhoyono not dismissed the head of the Indonesian national police as a response to the scandal the confrontation, or turf war, between the National Police and the Corruption Eradication Commission? Why has no leader of any parliamentary party a clear and strong call for such a dismissal?

Perhaps they all remember what happened in May-June, 2001 when President Abdurrahman (Gus Dur) did the same to General Bimantoro, National Police Chief at that time. Perhaps they remember what happened to President Abdurahman soon afterwards. As a reminder of those days< I reprint some newspaper reports at that time.

Rally of security forces sends a `mutiny’ message to Wahid

South China Morning Post – June 6, 2001

Vaudine England, Jakarta — The word being debated among foreign journalists in Jakarta is “mutiny”. The police chief sacked last week by President Abdurrahman Wahid has refused to step down and his stance is being interpreted by the security forces as a reason for defiance of their own.

About 8,000 police and several hundred soldiers and Marines gathered in a central park near the presidential palace yesterday in what they said was a pre-planned ceremony. But in Jakarta’s highly charged political context, the gathering seemed to be yet another show of defiance towards Mr Wahid.

His decision on Friday to make police chief Surojo Bimantoro ”inactive” has provoked a series of meetings by senior police officers, generals and parliamentary faction heads. The message is that Mr Wahid must stop meddling in the institutions of law and order — or else.

The “or else” part has been left tantalisingly vague, but parliamentary leaders are looking for a constitutional excuse to accelerate impeachment moves against Mr Wahid. They say his bid to sack General Bimantoro without their say-so might be it. “We’re not playing politics. We’re professional. But we are not allergic to politics and General Bimantoro is still our leader,” Jakarta police chief Major-General Sofyan Jacoeb said.

He presided over the 10-minute ceremony, which he claimed was held to congratulate police troops for their hard work during a summit of the Group of 15 developing nations last week as well as recent sessions of Parliament.

As well as the presence of men such as Jakarta military chief Major-General Bibit Waluyo, the parade included men from the army strategic reserve command, the marines and the air force, along with armoured vehicles and helicopters. General Bimantoro told the media he had refused to resign for what he said was his refusal to back the President’s efforts to declare emergency rule.

Mr Wahid also might have wanted a more amenable police chief to help prosecute his parliamentary enemies for corruption, in another tactic aimed at stopping impeachment. Some analysts interpreted the surprisingly large gathering of police and troops as a sign from the security apparatus of its possible support for accelerated impeachment.

Mr Wahid replaced General Bimantoro with deputy police chief Chaeruddin Ismail on Saturday. But even this new recruit to power preferred to hug his former boss, General Bimantoro, in public instead of moving at Mr Wahid’s behest to bring the police under presidential control.

Instead of proving Mr Wahid’s claimed control over events, his clumsy steps against the police chief have instead highlighted his weakness.

Despite frequent attempts, he has been unable to impose emergency rule, to scare off Vice-President Megawati Sukarnoputri from a parliamentary confrontation or to deflect Parliament from its impeachment moves. General Bimantoro has insisted that under prevailing laws he remains the police chief until Parliament approves his dismissal.

Two weeks ago the armed forces carried out shows of force a stones’ throw from the palace where Mr Wahid is ensconced. Now the police have joined in what is a new, subtle version of a mutiny by any other name.

Rift among police displayed over dual leadership

Jakarta Post – June 28, 2001Jakarta –

National Police chief Gen. Surojo Bimantoro had reportedly cut short his minor haj pilgrimage and returned to the capital on Tuesday, after receiving news that there had been a near clash among his middle-ranking officers.

The incident reportedly started with two officers arguing about whether Bimantoro, or National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. Chaeruddin Ismail, would lead a police briefing linked to a ceremony in observance of the 55th anniversary of the National Police force on July 1.

Bimantoro had left for the minor haj pilgrimage on June 22 and was due to return a week later. National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Didi Widayadi confirmed on Wednesday that Bimantoro returned after hearing the news about the incident on Monday. He refused to elaborate.

Sources said the incident occurred at the National Police Detachment Division (Denma). “Brig. Gen. Rifai Siregar of the National Police internal affairs had ordered Denma Chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Wagio to announce that Chaeruddin would lead the briefing on the dress rehearsal of the police anniversary ceremony,” a police official who requested anonymity told reporters.

Wagio made the announcement, but a few minutes later, he made another announcement, saying Bimantoro would lead the briefing, he said. “Rifai, who was obviously angry, went up to Wagio and reportedly pulled Wagio by the collar, and was reportedly about to hit Wagio in the face.”

Separately, top officials at the National Police Headquarters said on Wednesday that a rift had always been present between the National Police Academy graduates of year 1970, and 1971. Chaeruddin is a 1971 graduate, while Bimantoro graduated in 1970.

Confusion reigned in the halls of the National Police Headquarters on Wednesday, when Didi and Bimantoro ended up making two differing statements.

Instructions

Didi said that upon arrival at the airport on Tuesday, Bimantoro had reportedly issued two verbal instructions to National Police official Brig. Gen. Logan Siagian. “The first was to formally request the Supreme Court to issue a decree, particularly in connection with the recently issued Presidential Decree No. 77/2001, which reinstates the post of the National Police deputy chief,” Didi said. “Second, to file a lawsuit at the State Administrative Court (PTUN) against three presidential decrees, which concern the dual leadership.”

Didi identified the three decrees as Presidential Decree No. No. 54/2001, which had abolished the post of National Police deputy chief; Presidential Decree No. 40/2001 on the appointment of the National Police deputy chief and Presidential Decree No. 41/2001, on the suspension of the National Police chief.

These statements were however denied, by the National Police chief. “I never gave such instructions … I have spoken to the National Police spokesman about this matter. I just want things to cool down,” Bimantoro said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Didi had said that the National Police is scheduled to formally request the Supreme Court to issue a decree in connection with Presidential Decree No. 77. “This formal request will be made in a few days. The current dual leadership at the National Police, has frankly confused the police force. It is not healthy,” Didi said on Tuesday.

Abdurrahman had recently suspended Bimantoro from his post for defying a presidential order to resign as National Police chief, and had appointed Chaeruddin to take over Bimantoro’s duties.

Indonesia’s Wahid ups pressure on police chief

Reuters – July 7, 2001

Jakarta –

Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid has stepped up pressure on national police chief General Bimantoro, demanding he relinquish all remaining commands of power, the Jakarta Post reported on Saturday.

Wahid ordered Bimantoro — among several senior security officials to publicly object to the president’s threats to stay in power by declaring a state of emergency — to resign more than a month ago.

Bimantoro has previously refused to go unless parliament approved his dismissal, although on Monday he said he was willing to be replaced. That has created some confusion over whether Bimantoro still remained police chief.

The report said Wahid issued a decree on Friday ordering Bimantoro to return the command baton and all command attributes to the President.

“In a normal reshuffle, the outgoing police chief would hand over his baton to his successor. But as the new police chief has yet to be selected, Pak Bimantoro must return his baton to the superior, that is the President,” the Post quoted chief security minister Agum Gumelar as saying.

Indonesia’s parliament has formally warned Wahid over his move to sack the police chief, adding another black mark to the embattled leader’s record only weeks before his impeachment hearing.

The top legislature will open Wahid’s impeachment hearing on August 1 over his stumbling 20 months in power as Indonesia’s first democratically-elected leader. Most analysts give the Muslim cleric little chance of survival. Wahid renewed his threat to declare a state of emergency on Friday, in what has become his key defence ahead of the hearing.

Police chief just an excuse for MPs to confront Gus Dur Straits Times – July 5, 2001Robert Go, Jakarta — If Indonesian police chief General Suroyo Bimantoro makes it into the history books, it will be because of how parliament has turned him into yet another thorn in President Abdurrahman Wahid’s side.

Parliament has so far supported and encouraged Gen Bimantoro’s defiance against Mr Abdurrahman, who suspended him early last month after his undistinguished nine-month term, and finally sacked him last weekend.

Golkar MP Yasril Ananta Baharuddin, chairman of the Defence, Foreign and Political Affairs Committee, told The Straits Times: “Bimantoro is still our police chief.” Yet analysts described his insubordination as the last gasps of a man with nothing to lose — he is scheduled to retire this month.

During his short stint in office, Gen Bimantoro, Mr Abdurrahman’s third police chief in 20 months, did little to push forward Indonesian police’s reform agenda.

Perhaps his most notable feat was to oversee a beefing-up of the police force’s size and weaponry, including the purchase of thousands of Russian assault rifles. That is not much of an achievement when the police and military are heavily scrutinised for alleged human rights violations.

Even his backers in parliament say they do not really care if he stays or goes. PAN legislator Alvin Lie said: “It doesn’t matter who heads the police. Our reasons for insisting he is still police chief have nothing to do with the man himself.” Mr Yasril agreed: “Parliament’s perspective on this is independent of Gen Bimantoro’s qualifications or achievements.” Gen Bimantoro, who once headed the police force of Bali province, has no clear political ties and does not inspire much loyalty or admiration even within his own force.

More than 100 senior generals signed petitions supporting him last month, yet they also sent congratulatory flowers to Commissioner-General Chaeruddin Ismail, Mr Abdurrahman’s new man on the force.

Mr Kusnanto Anggoro of the Centre for Strategic International Studies said: “The sentiment is replacing Bimantoro could be good for the police force’s reform goals.” So why are legislators so riled up with the way Mr Abdurrahman is treating his police chief? He has breached the Constitution and ignored proper procedures, MPs say, by sacking yet another top police official without parliament’s approval.

“We don’t care about the chief of police. We don’t support Bimantoro, but we reject the President’s constitutional breaches,” said Mr Lie. Analysts warn, however, that by welcoming parliament’s help, Gen Bimantoro is endangering the reform process and is keeping the police involved in politics.

The Indonesian Mining Association fears mining investment could fall below $1 billion this year due

The Indonesian Mining Association fears mining investment could fall below $1 billion this year due to uncertainty over the new law, although the government has said investment from mining, including geothermal, could surpass $2 billion.

Excerpt from mydigitalfc.com.

New Mining Law was signed on September by former Mining and Energy minister, Purnomo Yusgiantoro, which limits the use of contract mining to specific tasks. The regulation applies immediately to new mining project while existing mining company shall have three years period for adjustment.

The application of new mining law to existing mining company, IMO, will increase the need for huge, and I mean extra huge, capex especially within these three years period. There will be, at least, requirements of (1) capex to acquire new mining equipments to increase the production, and (2) capex to acquire mining equipments as replacement to contractor’s equipments.

Hiring new people with good competency will also become a great challenge. Other than the increasing of cost, the challenge lies in the organization structure complexity. Imagine moving contractor’s organization into the existing organization of mining companies. This will reduce the organization flexibility to adapt to changes in mining industry. Furthermore, this is somehow out of step with global trends. Mining companies globally are seeking ways to effectively slim down the organization.

How do we overcome the challenges and anticipated to changes?

To this matter, there are several strategic objectives that must be done to anticipate the changes, that will emphasize on (1) improve the organization development and human resources development, (2) enhance online collaboration as IT base function, (3) business process improvement, (4) increase customer delight, and (5) economic value added improvement.

Improve the organization development and human resources development. The elaboration of the organization culture actually lies within the organization vision. However, vision is not enough. Key to the success of organization development is the ability to translate the vision into operational terms through out the organization and act upon it. Along the way of developing the organization, human resources development shall also be developed. At minimum, I propose three stages implementation, which are recruitment and fulfill the organization requirement – from top to bottom, increase competency level and mitigate the effect of competency gap, and retain the best people. One stage can be added during five years to the end of the life of mine project that is selling the expertise of the best people.

Enhance online collaboration as IT base function. I truly believe that the IT key issue in the following years is to enable people to collaborate to manage single task or single project. Cross-function, cross-platform, and different time zone are challenges that people have to deal during the course of the project – this is where a collaboration tools is required and to be managed as the IT base function.

Business process improvement. The strategic initiatives are increase the production volume and reduce the cost.

Increase customer delight. Delight is beyond satisfaction. The key is to be able to predict the need of customers even before they realize that they need something.

Economic value added improvement. Two things only: prudent investment and manage cost and risk.

Last night I went to my final “worship committee” meeting to plan Sunday’s service at our church. It’s the last one where I’ll lead worship.

We’ve already seen our last beautiful colorful breath-taking fall up here.

I’ve *probably* already attended my last Wives’ Small Group meeting – which started in my own 500 sq ft apartment 3 years ago.

When I went to the grocery store, I thought “I may not have to buy this again before we move.”

I hung out with one of my closest seminary friends on Saturday night – and I told myself that would NOT be the last time we hang out.

I know when my last day of work will be.

My last Tuesday of leading worship at our Seminary Chapel service will happen next week.

We’ve already got plans to spend a bit of time with a few of our favorite seminary couples. My calendar shows our last dinner date with them… Ugh.

And, then, there’s the going-away party, which we can’t skip………

The “lasts” are upon us.

So. Help me here. How do you handle moving and packing and stressing and goodbyes? What can I do to get through this?
