For Streamyx, I have very bad experience with their customer service. When got problem, I always call to their call center. Their customer used to make me heart attack. But now, the quality of their customer service had improved a lot. Those voice that used to make me heart attack is no longer there anymore, a lot of new voice and with better quality. The most important thing, these new people won’t make you piss off until heart attack.

While for speed and stability, undeniable, it is much more better than P1 Wimax.

Das Internet ist für die meisten heutzutage gleichbedeutend mit WWW oder Web. Das das Web nur einer von vielen hunderten Diensten ist, die über das web abgewickelt werden, ist normalerweise auch für den Normalbenutzer auch nicht so wichtig. Aber interessant ist es zu wissen, warum das web so einen Siegeszug hingelegt hat, es war eigentlich nur ein einziger Grund:

Informationen, die es im Internet schon in Mengen gab, konnten so auf einfache Art miteinander verknüpft werden.
Jedes Dokument im Web wird durch eine eindeutige Adresse, einer URL (wikipedia), angesprochen. Mit Hilfe dieser URLs, die jeder auf einfachste art und Weise setzen kann entsteht einNetz, das bekanntlich das Weltumspannende Spinnennetz WWW (World Wide Web wikipedia) seinen Namen gegeben hat. Nur Seit einigen Jahren werden es immer weniger Links zwischen unterschiedlichen Seiten. Statt dessen wird nur noch innerhalb der eignen Site verwiesen.

Das Netz droht zu zerfallen.

Nur warum ist das so? Zum einen sind es natürlich die, die nicht kapiert haben, wie das web funktioniert. Zur Abwechslung sind es nicht nur die Politiker, die kamen erst später.

Die ersten waren wohl die, die zwar eine Webseite haben erstellen lassen, aber so stolz darauf waren, dass sie nicht wollten, dass man Links darauf setzt.  So dämlich kann mannicht sein, doch man kann:  Gericht: Fremde Links auf eigene Seiten kann man verbieten und einige mehr. Es geht nicht um die sogenannten Deep Links (wikipedia) mit denen man ein anderes Angebot als das eigne verkaufen kann, sondern tatsächlich darum, dass nicht jemand anderes Besucher auf die eigene Seite bringt. Das ist ungefähr so schlimm, wie wenn ich ein Geschäft oder Dienstleistung anbiete und dann Angst vor den Kunden habe.

Danach kamen die Probleme mit Verweisen auf Seiten, die irgendjemanden nicht gepasst haben, seien es radikale Seiten, Seiten mit Urheberrechtsverletzungen, oder auch nur Seiten, die gegen Rechts, die etwa ein durchgestrichenes Hakenkreuz enthielten (SpOn). Inzwischen ist das setzen von links direkt gefährlich geworden, da man sich ja den Inhalt der anderen seiten möglicherweise zu eigen macht. Also kamen die sogenannten Disclaimer, die aber komplett wirkungslos sind: Das Märchen vom Disclaimer, was sich bisher offensichtlich noch nicht rumgesprochen hat, da ein Webmaster von dem anderen abschreibt und insgeheim hofft, dass es doch etwas bringt.

Ich vergleiche die Disclaimer gerne mit Knoblauch aufhängen, oder Weihwasser, das ungefähr den gleichen Effekt hat.

Danach kam Gogole und die SEOs, die behaupten, dass ausgehende Links den Pagerank bei Google herabsetzen, was im gewissen Sinn zwar richtig ist, aber aus vielen anderen Gründen auch nicht so schlimm ist, aber das ist ein anderes Thema.

Gleichzeitig wurde und wird versucht möglichst viele Links von Seiten mit hohen Pagerank auf die eigene Seite zu bekommen. Das wurde so stark übertrieben, dass Foren und Blogs dazu mit unsinnigen Beiträgen, aber einem Link, missbraucht wurden.

Damit man trotzdem Links setzen kann und die Spammer ausbremst wurde das sogenannte nofollow-Attribut zu einem Link hinzugefügt.

Leider ist den Köpfen von vielen Webmastern immer noch drin, dass ausgehende Links etwas böses sind und die Webseite beim Pagerank aussaugt. Und natürlich haben viele auch Angst die wenigen kostbaren Besucher auf andere Seiten aufmerksam zu machen und sie so zu verlieren. Nicht dass die Besucher nicht wüssten, dass es noch andere Seiten gibt.

Leider hat das alles dazu geführt, dass viele Blog-Systeme sogar die Trackbacks auf nofollow setzen und den Grundgdanken des gegenseitig Verlinkens ad absurdum führen. natürlich werden damit die Kommentarspammer abgehalten, aber dafür gibt es sicher bessere Methoden, als das Netz an sich in Frage zu stellen.

Ein anderer wichtiger Punkt sind natürlich so einige Politiker, die zwar nicht wissen, was das Internet ist, dafür aber umso mehr Angst davor haben und mit möglichst schwammigen Gesetzen (wie sollte man auch etwas konkretisieren ohne einen Schimmer davon zu haben, um was es geht) die eigentlich Beurteilung den Richtern zu überlassen, und so eigentlich nur zeigen, dass sie unseren Rechtsstaat weder achten noch erhalten wollen. Aber zum Thema Gewaltenteilung und den Sinn vernünftiger Gesetze werde ich mich jetzt nicht äußern, wenn es auch schwer fällt) Und warum die aktuellen Gesetze mehr schaden und mehr Unsicherheit bringen, eigentlich sogar den rechtsfreien Raum erst erzeugen, ist Stoff für eine andere Abhandlung.

Ein andere Auswirkung der Link-Müdigkeit ist die sogenannte Blogmüdigkeit, wenn es auc nur eine kleinere Ursache dafür sein dürfte.

Hier geht es mir nur konkret darum, an alle zu apellieren und das Web zu retten, indem wieder Links gesetzt werden. Nicht irgendwohin, sondern auf interessante, passende Seiten, die einem selbst und anderen gefallen und weiterbringen. Es macht nur etwas Mühe, man muss isch ein paar Gedanken machen, und auch ein klein wenig aufpassen um in keine juristischen Fallstricke zu landen, aber es lohnt sich.

Mein Vorschlag wäre es, wenn wir das ganze mal zusammen üben und jeder sich vornimmt in seinem Blog mindestens zwei Links pro tag zu setzen. und schon blüht das Web wieder auf (ok, das war zu pathetisch)

Gut, erzählen kann jeder viel, aber zum einen gebe ich mir wirklich Mühe viele Links zu setzen und habe das nicht bereut, im Gegenteil die Besucher nehmen stetig zu. Und zum anderen biete ich mal einfach konkret an: Wer eine Interessante Seite zu diesem Thema hat, der braucht sie mir nur zu schicken und ich baue den link dazu ein. Das habe ich bei den anderen Artikeln zwar immer selbst gemacht und das gefundene aufgelistet, aber warum nicht mal andersherum? Also wer ein passende Seite hat, soll bitte einen Link hierher setzen, ein Kommentar schreiben (den ich auf Wunsch auch nicht veröffentliche) und setze diese Seite als Link hier im folgenden rein. So hat das Web zwei neue links und ich verspreche das es sich lohnen wird. Mit Geld-zurück-Garantie! (was bei kostenlos kein so großes Risiko ist).

Nur wenn der User auf Anhieb versteht, funktioniert die elektronische Kommunikaition optimal. Um das zu gewährleisten setzt man weltweit Piktogramme ein. So wie sich das Netz allerdings Tag für Tag ausbreitet, wächst auch die Anzahl dieser Bildzeichen ins unaufhörliche. Dies wiederum schränkt die angestrebte Allgemeinverständlichkeit erheblich ein.

Melih Bilgil hat sich in seiner Diplomarbeit dieser Problematik angenommen und ein Zeichensatz mit 500 Piktogrammen die universal einsetzbar sind entworfen.

Two music videos I made and posted on Youtube while bored. During the early summer I thought of borrowing a video camera; filming and superimposing a cool song I like and publishing it for the world through the internet. I suppose, it wasn’t a particular bright or original idea in light of youtube being liter with home-made videos. But I wanted to give it try and see whether I could create a meme. A meme -pronounce mi:m and rhymes with cream- is a term first coined by Richard Dawkins in his book “The Selfish Gene” towards the end of the pages. No, I didn’t get this info from Wikipedia but you can confirm it. I read the book years ago, It was interesting how he categorize the world of ideas and information into this one word and gave it the properties of the natural genes. Furthermore, since the time he publish the book, the word has proliferated on the internet; usually, being use to describe contagious media.

A meme is whatever information  spreads through imitation and competes with other memes to become more widely used. For example,  on the internet, the whole Chuck Norris vs. whatever, or a more familiar example of a some years ago, when the phrase ” All your base are belong to us”a bad translation of a Japanese game,  was widely used and joked about on the internet culture are memes. These are particular memes which  apply to the internet, it’s no wonder that they sound like geek dry humor since, probably, the people who first launch and proliferated them were of that inclination. Some other internet terms I like are “Woot” ,”LMAO”  the former being first use, I believe, by Dungeon and Dragon fans when exclaiming” we got the loot” and now use to emphasize something great, the latter simple means”laughing my ass of”. The fact that an eighteen year old girl with no familiarity of massive multiplier games like Dungeon or Watercraft would use “Woot” in a chatroom or Facebook update highlights the main property of a meme: it’s highly contagious regardless of its origin. The contagious meme spreads through imitation but why? Dawkins, like a good scientist mathematician, distill the answer: humans like to imitate, we like to copy whatever the other is doing, as social beings we enjoy parroting each other, it beats the feeling of loneliness.

The idea of a meme is applied mostly to information media because it is there where it holds more power and spreads more quickly. I don’t really want to discuss how memes apply to politics except to say, they work in the same exact way. When politicians repeat the same words “Hope and Change” or whatever, they are attempting to spread an idea-a meme. They hope it will catch on and join the public consciousness.

This is just a quick post on the term meme but you can write pages about this word because it relates to so many examples in today’s world. Although, memes are very popular it does not mean they are positive or negative. The wining ideas do not have to be the right, or the just ones. It spreads through imitation not because each agent evaluated its merits and reasonably thought it was the right choice. We are lazy and checking the merits of an idea or product requires to much brain energy and time. If I see somebody using a particular phrase, video, product,  argument etc, why shouldn’t I use it, heck it’s a lot easier and saves time.

The word meme is also just one of the many new terms use to the describe our information age and its properties. This is why it sound like I am reiterating the ideas of the popularizer of science Malcolm Gladwell,  great writer by way, but actually- memes, networks, information;this subjects interested me because they are being explore, talked and written about by scientist and journalist like Gladwell, Christ Anderson-editor of Wire magazine- and novelist Neil Stephenson- of “Snow Crash” fame. I am so fascinated,  I coined the word neuromeme which basically means the same thing as memes but alludes to brain neurons therefore restricting memes to something created by the human mind. Thus, the name of the web blog. So, yeah, it’s not ME, ME,  as a sign of self-indulgence but meme a scientific term.

Video marketing, It’s what attracts the eye. Presenting yourself on a video may sound ridiculus, but it is THE GROWING TREND of today’s internet craze. But remember, we are talking about internet online marketing here as our main subject. Because being able to focus on your mission, and not take for ganted, or be being taken granted for, can make a hugh difference.
O.K. Now. Capture yourself in the eyes of your audience. Videos allow you to be more presentable and lock in interest in a blink of video. Be a genuine, the internet is giving you the opprtunity today to commercialize yourself and get your message out for virtualy zilch.
The amazing advantage of Video marketing is that it is inexpensive, your able to choriograph your own self from your own home during your own time. Also a chance to be creative and stylish while promoting or sharing products and information to your potentials and how it could better their everyday lives.
YouTube, Facebook, Myspace, And I’m Sure Twitter is going to watch and join soon. The old fahion days of marketing is yet to dissappear and I wlll make sure that the old school that brought us here today will not be forgotten, but the time is now.. for video marketing. So show yourself when showing your product.

El New York Times confirma que eBay vendió Skype a un grupo de inversionistas que incluyen a Marc Andreessen (fundador de Mozilla) por medio de su firma de capital Andreessen Horowitz, Index Ventures y Silver Lake Partners por un monto aproximado a los 2 mil millones de dólares.

En abril de este año, eBay anunció que planeaba separar a Skype y hacerlo una compañía independiente para poder salir a bolsa, este tipo de anuncios se hacen para generar interés en posibles compradores.

Recordemos que en 2005se adquirió Skype por un total de 3.100 millones de dólares, superando ofertas de Google y Yahoo; la compra ahora se la conoce como una de las peores en la industria, sobre todo porque pagaron demasiado por un servicio que nunca lograron integrarlo a sus demás propiedades.

Skype también está en la mitad de un extraño problema legal, los fundadores originales de la empresa, Niklas Zennstrom y Janus Friis están peleando por obtener los derechos intelectuales de tecnología P2P que hace que el servicio funcione.

The same inter-connectivity also allows people from your past to find you. I think this is how MySpace and Facebook blew the fuck up on the Internet as people became virtual headhunters, looking for old classmates, past friends, old ex boy/girlfriends, that chick at the party you went to but forgot her name. It’s all there. It also means others can do the same to you. Yea, that same chick you told you would never leave for anybody and dumped for her best friend… ha, she can find out where you are, where you are going, all that shit playa! She can fuck up your world if you aren’t careful. The last thing you need is a stalker with a good idea on what to do so she can start picking off your interests and showing up unannounced to Metro on Saturday night with all her catty friends where you said you’d be on your Twitter status. I recommend putting your profile on private if that’s the case big pimpin. Fellas can be guilty of bullshit too btw…

Anyways, as a business owner, I separate my business from my Internet presence. I mean, you can find what I do for a living and etc., but for the most part I make no effort whatsoever to introduce my business to my friends, my on line contacts, and people I find. I personally think treading those waters and merging the line between friends and business is often a sure way to create stress in the relationship. I mean, even my ex had some work that I would’ve easily done but instead I paid it no attention. It was brought up once, but after a quick summary of events it was evident it wasn’t that important to her.

I do mention it if asked and if someone has an issue that could use my help than I offer. However, if anything is offered it’s usually from the other side and not mine. I also don’t mind someone who, after we become friends, mentions his/her occupation and makes a subtle offer to aid me if I need something. I think once the relationship is established, then yea, it’s OK to throw it out there. Especially if trust has been established and I don’t feel like I’m being pimped.

No one likes being pimped. I mean, if you’re at a trade show, work as a marketing director, or walk down some street next to a Waffle House in some short skirt dress that is mad out place, you’ll prolly get that feeling. It comes with the enviornment. However, it isn’t all that good at a little meeting to stand up out of nowhere, broadcast your twitter name, talk big SEO game, and then stalk the hallways for people with branded websites. It then turns perverse when the following happens, which is the crux of my post. Is this really accepted or am I right in feeling somewhat pimped?(Note: as noted in my last blog, I’m sticking to using alias’ from the National Hurricane Center…)

Woah buddy! After finding me on a professional social network, I was robbed! I thought homeboy was happy to find me. “Bill” was a somewhat cool guy from school; I mean, the RA position in a dorm can be tenuous. In any case, Brian was pretty helpful and confident guy. In his initial email, I thought it was awesome that he found me and that he lived close by. However, the pitch at the end really robbed me of the satisfaction of meeting an old acquaintance. I think that’s what really irked me. I understand that I introduced the occupation theme in our conversation; for that much i take responsibility. However, I think a much more softer, subtle approach would have worked wonders for me. Perhaps “Hey, that’s great. I work in insurance so keep me in mind, maybe we can work together!” or something. I mean, I would’ve even understood a small pitch to my construction company, but my auto? I mean, come on, we all know I ride dirty (j/k). I mean, fuck, maybe you don’t want to work together and you just want my money; at least maintain some semblance of friendship.

As a counter example, my softball buddy Adam never even told me he was a financial planner. Adam and I were on the the Groundzout softball team (via my fave spot The CoffeeGroundz) and talked and what not. Later, Adam had a financial seminar for anyone willing to come at The Coffee Groundz. I went and enjoyed his low key approach and simple yet smart attitude towards personal responsibility in financial planning. Adam and I talked for awhile afterwards but I never felt pressured. Adam handed me his business card and that was that. I didn’t feel obligated at all or felt that Adam was merely interested in my money. Now that I am starting a new business venture and need some financial planning… well, you know who I’m turning to. Adam made sure to have a personal relationship with me that ensures trust. I feel comfortable with him and didn’t feel pimped out…

I understand that we all want to grow our business and be successful. I know we all intermingle and that business between friends can happen. I can see how one would want to promote his/ her brand to everyone interested. However, there is a natural approach to everything. If you meet me at Home Depot and wanna talk, OK, lets go. If you find me on YouTube and approach me as a friend, well, how you doing? But come on man, don’t find me after 9-10 years and after one email exchange offer your services. Organic growth in your business trumps excessive marketing every time.

The International News reports,

The Cyber Crime Circle of the Federal Investigation (FIA) and police have jointly achieved a unique breakthrough by successfully tracing and arresting a person found involved in using the Internet to disseminate his highly obnoxious and blasphemous thoughts about the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

On the complaint of Ansar Abbasi, Editor Investigations, The News, and following initial investigations held by the IT Wing of the Jang Group, the FIA traced the accused through the obnoxious e-mail and got him arrested for allegedly committing blasphemy. This is the first case of its nature in Pakistan where an accused has been arrested for committing blasphemy through the Internet.
