This insanity plea isn’t too far from the truth.  Islam is the contrivance of a schizophrenic, megalomaniacal, pedophile, so it’s logical that those dumb enough to follow it suffer from a form of  psychosis (a mental disorder characterized by symptoms, such as delusions or hallucinations, that indicate impaired contact with reality).

Psychotic people are a danger to society, and must be rendered harmless.  What steps must be taken to render them harmless depend on the depth of their psychosis.  What do you do to make sure a psychotic doesn’t hurt you?  First you have to keep an eye on them all the time.  If they do anything dangerous, you lock them up.  If they try to hurt you or others, you defend the innocent and shoot the nut.

Are all muslims dangerous psychotics?  Probably not, but there is always the possibility.  I have witnessed muslims, whom our side thought could be trusted, for one reason or another turn on us with deadly results.  I was there when an American patrol training Iraqi security teams came back with 3 dead soldiers because one of the Iraqis they trusted turned out to be al-Qaeda, shot three of our soldiers, and ran away.  I have witnessed the dishonesty and deceit in their culture.  I’ve read enough of their satanic verses to know that a fervent follower believes that I am an infidel, a kafir, and must be killed. How can I trust someone who professes a religion that makes us sworn enemies?

More importantly, why should our military or government trust them and allow them to infiltrate the ranks of our institutions? The truth? They shouldn’t.

Alleged Fort Hood shooter might plead insanity

The attorney for the alleged Fort Hood shooter, Maj. Nidal Hasan, says his client may cop an insanity plea.

Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, will not plead guilty to killing 13 people at the Texas Army post on Nov. 5th, his attorney, retired Army Col. John Galligan has told the media over the past two days.

During an interview on “Good Morning America,” however, Galligan said that an insanity plea is possible.

Hasan’s first court hearing was Saturday in his hospital room at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, where Hasan is recovering from gunshot wounds received in the incident.

Galligan, whose private practice is in nearby Belton, Texas, met with Hasan for the first time Nov. 9. He has asked that his security clearance be reinstated so that he can review all the evidence against Hasan.

Been wandering the web aimlessly lately. I don’t want to get into it now except to say for every murderous muslim cocksucker there appears to be a gang of apologists and appeasers to justify–there’s no more apt word–to JUSTIFY the evil of the death-cult killers. These fools could just have easily ended up in the crosshairs as the next infidel, and yet here they are, defending the shitbirds.

You can be the most vile piece of shit and commit heinous acts, but those deemed insensitive or politically incorrect are treated even more harshly.

For no particular reason I watched the 12-part youtube docu about mafia killer-for-hire Richard Kuklinski, “The Iceman”, an equal-opportunity murderer. It was not uplifting. Then I watched a docu about Richard Ramirez, The “Night Stalker”, a craven piece of shit the fucking cops whisked away from mob justice. I’ve been an atheist (and now a tepid monotheist) but with these horrible serial killer bastards running around I understand why anyone would doubt the existence of any god, at least a caring one.

My own life is in the shitter. Not really, but it is. Too much shit left untied, unsaid, while other shit is done sloppily. The past weighs like an anvil on my scrotum. I just hate people and can’t seem to shake the feeling that I’m right. I can’t even get the fucking lesbian at work to come eat tacos (ha ha) with me. And no, I don’t want to fuck her, that’s why I can talk to her.

I don’t know if there is such a thing, but there appears to be a dread balance to the world. Things steadily improve but the horrors that counterweigh the good grow heavier and heavier. Smallpox is eradicated, here comes the AIDS. A dictator dies and he’s got 8 bastard sons to take his place. On the rare occasions Good triumphs it’s quickly buried and forgotten so that the next round of fools must needlessly live the same nightmares. I’m so very fucking annoyed with this planet. And there’s work tomorrow, I won’t have another day off till Monday. Work is hell, all work is, but being out of a job is worse (except for the first 20 minutes of waking up).

On many days I simply don’t give a shit. And by “days” I mean “years”.

According to the Washington Post, Maj. Nidal M. Hasan warned a group of senior Army physicians that they should allow Muslim soldiers to resign as “conscientious objectors” if they want to avoid “adverse events.”

Maj. Nidal M. Hasan said that for certain Muslims, fighting against other Muslims would bring them to a level of internal conflict that could not be overcome.  He also had notes in his power point presentation (obtained by the WaPo) that used terms like “infidel” and “jihad” liberally.

It is not clear if Maj. Nidal M. Hasan himself requested a release from his obligation due to his objections to fighting against fellow Muslims in Afghanistan.

American culture is predicated upon the freedom of  religious practice and the pursuit of happiness. It is a country driven by secular dreams where the practice of religion is just part or not of every day life.

Muslim culture is predicated upon the Muslim religion  and all its tenets first. Freedom of thought is not an option. Modesty and  submission are the norm of daily life. A good Muslim  is a person that lives by the Laws of the Koran. Anyone else is an infidel .

What Americans need to do is familiarize  and educate themselves on what it means to be a Muslim.  There are about 7 million Muslims living  in the United Sates. They know all there is know about us. I would venture to say that more than 85% of Americans know nothing about Muslims, even though there are so many in this country.

The USA represents exactly what Muslims oppose. Freedom of expression, freedom to choose whatever lifestyle we want for ourselves.  These freedoms are an anathema to the average Muslim living anywhere in the world, even to those living here in America.  They do enjoy equality here, something not known in most Muslim countries.  Muslims here are blessed like any other immigrant in having the freedom to prosper and live in peace.  But to the Muslim, such concepts short wire their fuse – even to those that live here and enjoy these very benefits.  The Muslims believe they will witness our demise and see their ascendency to world supremacy and domination.  They are not too far from that goal; 1 in every 5 humans on this earth, is a Muslim.

Muslims world-wide  are united by the Koran and the practice of its tenets.  A  good Muslim lives his life, as a Muslim first , and then as a man.  It is a people driven  and ominously directed by the  pursuits of zealot adherents.  They see Americans as spoiled, naive, hypocritical, and yes, uneducated and unrefined.  We are the Infidels living in the twilight.  They are simply offended by our permissive  lifestyle.  Speak to any Muslim and you will walk away feeling their disdain.  It is what it is.  No right, no wrong.  It just is.

It has happened AGAIN today.  A mUSLIM convert in the U.S. Army opened fire on soldiers at Ft. Hood, Texas who were getting ready to deploy to the middle east.  This mUSLIM killed 12 and wounded 31 in what was described as a calm, calculated attack.  Sadly, the swine testicle is still alive.

I overheard comments from a liberal blogger who was whining that “this wasn’t an act of terrorism.  Terrorism targets innocent civilians, while this attack, the attack on the USS Cole, the attack on the Beirut barracks, and the shooting of two soldiers walking out of a Little Rock recruiting center were attacks on military targets.“  You don’t even know how right you are, you liberal, anti-American, piece of human excrement.  This is more than terrorism, it is ANOTHER act of WAR.

The koran, quran, or whatever these evil people call the collection of satanic verses that direct them to HATE and KILL ME just because I am not one of them, directs muslims to befriend infidels (of which I am a proud one), and convert them to islam or kill them if they will not convert.  (m)uslims first allegiance is to their religion, not to their country.  Do you trust or want to be a part of a religion that teaches you to hate and kill, or one that teaches you to love and seek peace?  Do you trust people who will strap bombs to their women and children and march them into market places full of innocent people to kill as many as possible?  Golda Meir was right.  Until they love their children more than they hate us, there can never be peace.  Before you uninformed idiots out there start trying to misquote the Bible in an effort to use this argument against me, don’t bother.  We have turned the other cheek.  Look at the list below.  We have turned the other cheek more times that we should have.  It’s passed time to say “no more.”

It was muslims who attempted to blow up the World Trade Center the first time, and it was muslims who finally brought it down killing 3,000 some odd people.  It was muslims who highjacked the other airplanes, successfully flying one into the Pentagon.  It was muslims who were plotting to attack Ft. Dix, NJ and kill American soldiers.  It was (Iranian) muslims led by their current president who took over our embassy in Tehran and held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days.  It was muslims who attacked the USS Cole.  It was muslims that blew up the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut.  It was muslims who blew up Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland killing 243 innocent people.  The list is endless.  Anywhere there is violence in the world today, muslims are at the center of it.  Have muslims who are supposedly not “radical” spoken out against any of this?  Not a peep.  In fact, the first reaction after one of these cowardly murderous attacks is for the various muslim organizations to preemptively complain about how muslims will be discriminated against.  You don’t want me to distrust you and “discriminate” against you?  Then stand beside me, loudly denounce islam, and help me defeat the enemy who is trying to kill me and my children.  Until then, I don’t trust you.  You write on your blogs about how “heroic” these evil swine-bred-with-female-dogs are (http://forums.islamicawakening.com, mujahid_moonsighter – “reports now are saying that the shooter was a convert(revert) to Islam, a Major(officer) in the army Allahu akbar insha Allah he be shaheed, what a brave mujahid; omar247 – “One who defends the honour of his brother, Allah keeps the fire of hell away from his face on the Day of Judgment.”).  In your muslim neighborhoods (which are muslim because you will not assimilate with Americans or the citizens of any other country that you infest) and muslim stores, and on your muslim radio and television stations RIGHT HERE IN AMERICA, you cheer when events like this take place.  You are despicable.  You are pork excrement for condoning the murder of innocent people.

Following the shooting today, Octobama wrapped his tentacles around the teleprompter long enough to issue condolences to those involved in the shooting.  Mr. Obama, whether or not you are legally the president, you do currently occupy the office.  The job title is “Commander-in-Chief,” which is a military title.  You are not simply the consoler-in-chief, and you are supposed to be more than the campaigner-in-chief.  You have a duty to America to quit sympathizing with our enemies and PROTECT THIS NATION.  But I doubt that will EVER happen.

Whether or not our muslim-sympathizing comrade-in-chief, or our spineless congress have the courage to admit that we are indeed at war with islam, the fact remains that a state of war exists.  All patriotic Americans will defend this nation against this threat with or without the help of our muslim president, or our impotent government.  (i)slam is incompatible with America and the rest of the world.

Today is the 5th anniversary of the death of Theo van Gogh. He was a Dutch film director who worked with Ayaan Hirsi Ali on the film Submission.

The short film investigates violence against women in some Muslim societies. The script was written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali who was involved in social work amongst abused Muslim women in Europe.

After the film’s screening van Gogh and Hirsi Ali received death threats. On November 2, 2004, Van Gogh was murdered by Mohammed Bouyeri. Bouyeri shot him eight times, cut his throat, nearly decapitating him, and stabbed him in the chest. A five-page note threatening Western governments, Jews and Ayaan Hirsi Ali was attached to Van Gogh’s chest with a knife.

Since that time Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been under constant guard, and moved to the USA for some time. Bouyeri is currently serving a life sentence.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali wrote the book Infidel – I can highly recommend it. Brought up a Muslim she is now an atheist. Currently she is writing a fictional book where Mohamed is confronted by some well known Western enlightenment intellectuals. Should be good.

Religion should always be a choice. Given the current variety of religions in the world today, as well as the many religions that have come and gone throughout history, we know beyond a doubt, that even if one of those religions is the true belief system, it cannot force everyone to believe. People must decide for themselves at some point. Of course, there’s always an exception.

There are also cultures that teach their religious beliefs to their children from birth. Those cultures don’t tolerate non-believers, so in some sense, there really seems to be no choice at all. But history shows that even in the most strict religious cultures, there are infidels. Many of them are punished severely, even killed for their infidelity. So where does choice come in?

From the stories I have heard in my limited exposure and lifetime, religious decisions come at almost any age, and in every culture. Many modern humans are exposed to the myriad cultures, religions, ideologies, and beliefs due to so much immigration between countries around the world. This mixing is a veritable melting pot of views and beliefs that each person is exposed to in some way on almost a daily basis. In the United States, we are taught at an early age to be considerate of the beliefs and customs of different cultures. This has also resulted in what I call a cross-pollination of religions between people of different cultures. In other words, a Muslim can decide to become a Christian.

For many believers, the thought of no religion at all is not really an option. They seem to believe that any religion is better than none, even when that religion competes directly with their own. But one of the choices for many people is to become non-religious, and even atheist. Atheism is on a fast rise in the western world at the moment, and some people believe it is caused by the growing body of scientific knowledge and discovery that appears to replace what religion used to teach without question. Science, to be clear, is not a choice, it is knowledge. One can choose to understand, and even refute the knowledge gained by science, but it is not a belief system.

Many major religions today are competing for followers. They are engaging in nothing short of marketing campaigns, just like major companies who look for new customers! Is this a sign that religion, like businesses, are struggling a little to survive? Maybe it is. Either way, it seems apparent that people do choose their churches, and even the major religion that appeals to them. For some, there seems to be only one choice from the day they are born, for others, the choices of religions are indeed many. And for others still, the choice to follow no religion at all is just as valid, and deserving of the same tolerance afforded to believers of all gods and religions available.

God commanded Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply (Gen. 1:28). However, that command in no way obviated the need for intelligent planning and birth control. The Bible does not condemn family planning.

By focusing attention on the population explosion, there is a need to get across the seriousness of the overpopulation dilemma — and resulting famine — facing mankind. However, I am not necessarily espousing human solutions that others may advance. Rather, I mean to show that man cannot effectively solve the problem as long as he is largely motivated by selfishness, greed and vanity.

Children are a heritage of God (Ps. 127:3). All married couples should intelligently plan — unless there are extenuating circumstances — to have children. However, it is also plain that God never intended man to procreate like a mindless animal.

Man’s mind is patterned after the mind of God Himself — in whose physical and mental image man was created. Man’s mind should be exercised toward the intelligent direction in every facet of life.

The cost of caring for children also enters the picture. Paul told Timothy: “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel” (I Tim. 5:8). And, “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children [grandchildren] …” (Prov. 13:22).

If a married couple has more children than the family head can comfortably support, the children may never reach their full potential in later life.

There is free toleration in this country to everything—permit me to say—toleration to everything but Christ. You will discover that the persecuting spirit is now as much abroad as ever. There are still men at whom it is most fashionable to sneer. We never scoff at Christians nowadays; we do not sneer at that respectable title, lest we should lose our own honour; we do not nowadays talk against the followers of Jesus under that name. No; but we have found out a way of doing it more safely.

There is a pretty word of modern invention—a very pretty word—the word “Sectarian.” Do you know what it means? A sectarian means a true Christian; a man who can afford to keep a conscience, and does not mind suffering for it; a man who, whatever he finds to be in that old Book, believes it, and acts upon it, and is zealous for it.

I believe that the men aimed at under the term, “sectarians,” are the true followers of Christ, and that the sneers and jeers and all the nonsense that you are always reading and hearing, are really aimed at the Christian, the true Christian, only he is disguised and nicknamed by the word “sectarian.” I would give not a farthing for your religion unless you sometimes win that title. If God’s Word be true, every atom of it, then we should act upon it; and whatsoever the Lord commandeth, we should diligently keep and obey, remembering that our Master tells us if we break one of the least of His commandments, and teach men so, we shall be least in His kingdom. We ought to be very jealous, very precise, very anxious, that even in the minutiae of our Saviour’s laws, we may obey, having our eyes up to Him as the eyes of servants are to their mistresses. But if you do this, you will find you are not tolerated, and you will get the cold shoulder in society.

A zealous Christian will find as truly a cross to carry nowadays as in the days of Simon the Cyrenian. If you will hold your tongue, if you will leave sinners to perish, if you will never endeavour to propagate your faith, if you will silence all witnessing for truth, if, in fact, you will renounce all the attributes of a Christian, if you will cease to be what a Christian must be, then the world will say, “Ah! that is right; that is the religion we like.” But if you will believe, believe firmly, and if you will let your belief actuate your life, and if your belief is so precious that you feel compelled to spread it, then at once you will find that there is no room for Christ even in public sentiment, where everything else is received. Be an infidel, and none will therefore treat you contemptuously; but be a true Christian, and many will despise you.

The are several sings of unfaithfulness, particularly if you know your better half quite well. One of these signs is active interaction with members of the opposite gender. Such display of friendly affection may take off as passionless but as time goes by, special treatment to each other may build up. When this case occurs, the couple should discuss the friendship that is growing and its bounds and limits.

Social interaction draws in a vital role in commitment between a couple. If one growsin avenue where dishonesty is nothing unusual or even taken as a mark of manhood or adulthood, having an illicit affair is not a big issue.

In addition one may not be meeting another partner’s social or emotional needs, if the relationship is strained or is shaky this could lead to an affair. Staying closely with your partner in tought times is essential for strenthening the relationship.

Failure to spend quality time could also be a bad indicator. In cases wherein one favors more time for work there’s a strain in the relationship and much suspicion even if your partner makes an effort to phone you, your trust on your partner could be in question since you are not physically with each other. This can be responded to by allocating more time for each other.It also works if you earmark time for recreational activities since such develop better intimacy. Deficiency in this aspect could lead one to find somebody to fill the gap. Usually partners are swayed to cheat when they are deprived of sexual attention and when sexual needs remain unfullfilled. Usually husbands and wives take their respective spouses for granted and they begin to let themselves go. This yieds issues in their sexual intimacy leading one partner to stray.

One more area to be wary is communication on the phone. Most males contact their illicit lovers using the house phone or their cell phone. Secret phone talks that take an unusual twist when you sneak into the room imply that there is indeed something wrong. Nurturing habits also take some turn to reflect those of your partner’s lover; these cannot be hidden and are not voluntary.

The above are possible signs of an affair. But if you want to prove adultery, you may need more tools to help you out.

September 30, 2009, will mark, for many freethinkers, the first international Blasphemy Day. The new holiday–or unholyday–is being promoted by the Center for Free Inquiry (CFI). It will be inaugurated by an art exhibit in Washington DC, a soap-box style “speaker’s corner” in Toronto, and a Blasphemy-Fest! film-viewing in LA, all held at CFI centers.

The date September 30 was chosen to commemorate the controversial 2005 publication of cartoon images of the prophet Muhammad in the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten. Though intentionally provocative and probably offensive to many, the event’s purpose is not, organizers insist, meant to promote hate or violence, nor is it “about getting enjoyment out of ridiculing and insulting others.” Rather, CFI organizers argue, it is about promoting and defending free speech. “The event was created,” CFI’s website explains, “as a reaction against those who would seek to take away the right to satirize and criticize a particular set of beliefs given a privileged status over other beliefs. Criticism and dissent towards opposing views is the only way in which any nation with any modicum of freedom can exist.” More specifically, it is a reaction to recent UN resolutions that condemn defamation of religion.

Washington, D.C. – On September 25th there will be a national prayer gathering of Muslims on the west front of the U.S… Capitol Building. They are expecting at least 50,000 to attend from mosques all across America. They will gather to pray from 4:00 AM until 7:00 PM. The gathering will take place by the site where U.S. Presidents have been inaugurated since 1981. The organizers say that it was Obama’s inauguration speech in January and his speech broadcast from Egypt in June that gave them the idea for this prayer gathering on Capitol Hill.

 I did not post on this when I saw it last week because I have no problem with folks praying. I took no issue with it whether it was Muslims, Christian, Jews ……………. pet rock owners. But when I got a gander at islamoncapitolhill.com, I  posted it as an update to the “Interfaith day of Service” on 911. But it is clearly in need of its own post, especially when one looks  at the two leading the thousands of Muslims in prayer: Sheik Muhammad Jebril and  Sheik Ahmed Dewidar, two Egyptians (home base to the Muslim Brotherhood), and prayer organizer Hassen Abdellah.
First, let’s take a close look  at Dewidar.Dr. Ahmad Dwidar is imam of the Islamic Center in New York. MEMRI captured an interview he did with the Middle East  Broadcasting Centre:

Dwidar: In 1995 I heard some sermons, saying that Muslims should march on the White House from some of the mosques.

Host: What do you mean by “march on the White House”?

Dwidar: One cleric said in his sermon: “We are going to the White House, so that Islam will be victorious, Allah willing, and the White House will become into the Muslim house.”

 Host: How? I don’t understand.

 Dwidar: This is simply a slogan. I’m only saying this to…

 Host: Are they going to occupy the White House or what?

 Dwidar: No, they say that through the domination of Islam and its ideas, the White House will change.

 Host: This will happen one day, but not this way. Islam will be victorious, no doubt, but not this way………….Also while speaking to the Web site of the Muslim Brotherhood, he denounced President Bush’s policy in the Middle East, claiming it was dictated by Natan Sharansky: “This Jew has despicable goals, and we see their effects today in America’s actions in the region, imposing its opinion and its outlook on democracy, education, and political involvement on our countries.”

Fidelitatea. Un subiect care niciodata nu se va epuiza. Un cititor mi-a propus sa scriu despre aceasta deoarece ar fi curios sa afle parerea mea in legatura cu aceasta. Parerea mea in legatura cu a fi fidel si de acolo a se ajunge la…a fi luat de fraier.

In primul rand incep prin a spune ca aceasta e GRESIT. Fidelitatea este cel mai incredibil lucru pe care il poti oferi persoanei iubite. Bine, pe langa iubire, intelegere, comunicare. Fidelitatea este un devotament total, care trebuie sa fie existent in orice relatie sanatoasa. Si nu ma refer la cele de doi bani. La relatiile acelea care sunt doar de umplutura, de dragul de a le avea.  Fidelitatea, daca stim sa o folosim in avantajul nostru… este extraordinara. Daca suntem fideli, in primul rand dam motive de gelozie mai putine partenerului.

Femeia devine frumoasa cand stie ca este iubita. Asistam de multe ori la aceasta transfigurare. Daca este rupta de radacina iubirii, respinsa, daca nimeni nu este interesat de ea, femeia se ofileste ca o floare uitata neudata.  Dar aceeasi femeie, pe care toti o credeau stearsa, lipsita de frumusete, devine incantatoare si imbietoare o data ce este “curtata”. Inima ei se trezeste la viata, iese la lumina si intreaga ei infatisare straluceste. Deci automat, o data ce nu ii esti fidel, nu stiu ce mai astepti sa-ti placa. Ea saraca stie, se simte indepartata. Se simte inlaturata si isi pierde din farmecul pe care l avea atunci cand erai numai pentru ea.

Barbatul de asemenea, atunci cand este iubit, cand este dorit are mai multa incredere in el. Atunci simte ca poate sa faca mai multe si e increzator in propriile forte. Atunci el DOMINA lumea. Cand stie ca cineva e pentru el. Cineva il asteapta. Si o femeie atat de gingasa precum femeia..exista pentru el. Dar atunci cand incetezi sa-i fii fidela, trezesti fiara din el. Ori devine obsesiv de gelos si s-ar putea sa sfarsesti chiar si lovita, ori…devine indiferent si poti sa-ti iei adio draga:)

Si nu gandi ca daca esti prea fidel si tii prea mult la ea, s-ar putea sa fii luat peste picior. Daca gandesti asta inseamna ca nu esti pregatit pentru o relatie serioasa si adevarata, ori nu esti in relatia potrivita. Relatia potrivita este atunci cand nici macar nu-ti pui astfel de intrebari. Ar fi de ajuns ca sa stiti ca va iubiti si celelalte lucruri sa asteptati sa vina de la sine.

O relatie trebuie sa fie locul unde te simti ca intr-o gradina, o pajiste sau o plaja linistita. Aici gasesti ragaz pentru suflet, iar sufletul tau infloreste. Respiri din nou. Te poti odihni. Este foarte bine. Asa te simti in apropierea unei iubiri adevarate. Esti liber sa fii tu insuti, ceea ce reprezinta unul dintre cele mai frumoase daruri ale vietii.

Fidelitatea? Da, e importanta. Si NU, nu vei fi luat de fraier daca vedeti amandoi viata in acelasi mod. Dar daca totusi nu va intelegeti asupra acestui lucru sau ea abuzeaza de faptul ca ii esti fidel…renunta la ea. Va veni o alta. Si, crede-ma…muuulttt, cu muuultt peste asteptarile tale:)

Si ….arata cat poti tu de bine, cine a zis ca Dragostea e oarba? Fii… FIDEL INTR-O LUME INFIDELA. Intr-o lume care nu isi mai cunoaste valorile morale si etice, TU fii diferenta!

So…here we are.  I just forced myself to go back and read my last entry so I could really feel at the height of my foolishness whilst writing this one.  After all the gusto and enthusiasm (and in my defence also a few glasses of wine) of my last post I’ve managed to not write another thing at all.  Brilliant.  I also managed to totally confuse the posting date and timing by editing the default post wordpress put in when I started this website in January so nothing really makes sense at all.  I suppose it’s neither here nor there as no one is reading this yet but really, it’s not starting out all that well.  I’ve finally figured out why…and also what the hell this blog is supposed to be about…So first: WHY? Why haven’t I written?  Basically I knew I wanted to be a Social Commentator more than I really wanted to be a writer.  I’m not the creative writing type, I don’t have ideas in this field. Nor do I really have an interest in it.  I love reading stories and literature and I’m happy to continue to do this and never be a world famous fiction author.  I want to write well enough to make my commentary interesting and accessible but that is really secondary to the subject matter. The problem is that when you say you want to be a writer people expect you to have a desire to write the next great Australian novel and well, quite frankly, I felt a bit blocked because that wasn’t what I wanted at all.  I’m over that. My recent visit to the Byron Bay Writers Festival sorted that out good and proper.  There I saw a bunch of Social Commentators; truly inspiring people in their fields. At one of the talks early in the festival someone referred to one of these speakers as “a leading public mind” and I thought WOW I want to be one of those.  So I wrote it in my notebook: I want to be a leading public mind. Good.  We got that out of the way.

So that’s all well and good really but I continued to procrastinate about starting.  I started to get a bit panicked about it all to be honest.  (As an aside, anyone not amused by the way we spell panicked?). I thought back to last year and how easy it was to write the travel blog and finally I had the lightbulb moment.  Of course it was easy to write last year.  I was writing a travel blog while traveling.  There is inspiration at every turn.  And given it was all in third world countries, plenty of fodder for a bit of social commentary.  So in the end I just decided to wait.  Figured something would float my boat sooner or later. That happened this week and we are even in the same month as the Writers Festival so really, not bad going.

What got me going? The memoir Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali. I’ve always had a bit of an interest in Islam and it’s role in modern society since I did a subject on it during my uni studies.  I won’t go into it too much here as I’m going to do a number of posts on the topic but suffice to say Ayaan’s memoir lit a fire in my belly like I haven’t felt for quite some time.  I would highly recommend reading her story.

This is long now and perhaps highly uninteresting to anyone except me so I will wrap up. I will just point out one final thing… The title of this blog is Random Musings so it stands to reason that it will also include me musing randomly about whatever takes my attention at the time. It won’t all be social commentary.  A lot of it will be crap.  It is a blog after all and with a title like that I hardly feel I am constrained to stick to a topic. So now I’m going to toddle off and do a few more random posts to get this show on the road.
