This was followed by repeated prank calls and black faxes, all in an effort to disrupt the Churches normal work. The project then shifted to nonviolent protests calling for the International Revenue Service to review the Church of Scientology’s tax exempt status in the US. It seems that Anonymous had little grounds for the attack and it was uncalled for. They were simply searching for any excuse to bring the religion that they disagreed with into disrepute.

On January 19, 2012, the major file-sharing website, Megaupload, was shut down by the US Department of Justice under copyright infringement laws. Again, Anonymous saw this as a threat to the freedom of the internet, and hit back at the agencies. Within hours, they had launched coordinated DDoS attacks on the Universal Music Group, Department of Justice, FBI, US Copyright Office, Motion Picture Association of America, Recording Industry Association of America, Broadcast Music Inc., and Warner Brothers Music’s websites, all in protest against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). While many supported the hacking, others believed that the actions of Anonymous were counterintuitive and hurting the campaign against SOPA and PIPA. Dwight Silverman wrote in the Houston Chronicle that Anonymous’ actions were counterproductive in that they were ‘…highlighting online lawlessness.’ Although Anonymous’ actions were fighting against what they saw to be controlling the internet, they were not taking into account the companies making huge losses as a result of internet piracy. Regardless of whether shutting down Megaupload could be subjectively viewed as censorship of Anonymous’ beloved internet, internet piracy is against the law, and the federal agencies had every right to take down the website. It is clear that Anonymous is putting their own personal interests before what is legally acceptable.

Anonymous made efforts to uncover the personal details of well known internet villains, for example, the man responsible for the harassment of Amanda Todd and her suicide. The hackers released details of a man who they claimed was the harasser, but whether or not he was who they were looking for is unknown, as it has not been confirmed by authorities. While the notion of tracking down this person was of good intention, it was not handled in any suitable way. Anonymous did not necessarily know the full story nor whether or not this was in fact the man they were looking for, they simply put the details online for the public without caring about the fact that they were quite possibly putting an innocent man’s life in jeopardy. What ever happened to ‘innocent until proven guilty’? But the actions of Anonymous so far have not all been adverse. They have claimed responsibility for many smaller operations that should be easily regarded as internet vigilantism. Anonymous has tracked down many pedophiles through the internet including Chris Forcland, who was tipped off to police by ‘Cyber-Vigilantes’ before he was arrested. Anonymous were responsible for Operation Darknet, designed to take down as many child pornography websites as possible, including some with over 100 gigabytes of material. Anonymous have also taken action in Uganda and Syria, responding to the Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Bill and the attempted silencing of the opposition during the Civil War in Syria.

The question of whether or not Anonymous should be seen as cyber-terrorists has been obscured by the fact that they are dissimilar to conventional terrorists, in that their interests are much the same as those of the general population. It is clear that the members of Anonymous are vastly ranged in terms of the way they operate, but it seems most have the same one-eyed vision of how the world should be and most of the time this directly benefits the members of Anonymous in some way or another. It can be argued that Anonymous do not act in a justified manner, nor do they follow legal guidelines, and should be viewed as internet terrorists. Now that we’ve established that, it’s up to you to judge whether or not you care about what they’re doing or how they’re doing it.

Girne American University have announced news of their program of underwater research designed to protect the seas both now and for future generations in the area of the Mediterranean and local coasts. It is so important to protect the environment and particularly the marine life which could become endangered so this is a vital program to ensure that the future of our seas is protected.

The Mediterranean Underwater Research Centre is established under the GAU Cyprus, Girne Campus, Chancellor’s Office. The Founding Rector and Chancellor of the Board of Administrators, Serhat Akpınar, was interviewed by GAU TV about the GAU Mediterranean Underwater Research Centre’s significant contributions through commencing seabed and home range research programs in the Mediterranean and local coasts and also for the Mediterranean underwater biological varieties science literature.

Akpınar stressed that the GAU Mediterranean Underwater Research Centre has established a vision of “Let Us Save Our Seas And Future”. Akpınar also underlined that the GAU Cyprus-Girne campus houses the Research Office and Laboratories of the Centre while the Implementation Centre is situated at the GAU Social Facilities and Tourism and Hotel Implementation Centre at Camelot Beach Club.

“Underwater Researches will be an International Centre of Attention”

Akpınar stated that, the centre, which will undertake researches for seabed and home range in the Mediterranean and local coasts and also for the Mediterranean underwater biological varieties, sea pollution, underwater archeology and sunken rocks, Monachus Monachus (Mediterranean seals) and Caretta Caretta and Green Turtles significant reproduction areas in Northern Cyprus will be active from 15th of June 2013 and onwards. Akpınar further mentioned that GAU Mediterranean Underwater Research Centre will indeed be an international centre of attention for Northern Cyprus underwater scientific underwater researches.

The caravan,motorhome and campervan, fraternity are a breed unto themselves. They derive great pleasure in leaving their homes and spending time in what to all intents and purposes is a tin box on wheels.

Some prefer to do it in small farmers’ fields in the middle of nowhere, where there is no running water never mind a toilet. Others surround themselves with likeminded people and meet at the growing number of vast purpose built caravan sites around the country.

When it comes to choosing a campervan, motorhome or caravan, as with everything else, people will have their favourites. Some will for instance find that they like one particular manufacturer and will not be persuaded under any circumstances to buy any other.

This dogged commitment and devotion to their chosen brand can transcend loyalty to a whole new level. Once they are signed up as it were, they are in it for the duration, and wild horses could not drag them away to another make.

It may just be that they are the type of people who believe that once you have found something that ticks all of the boxes for you, there is absolutely no point in changing. They would never consider defecting to another manufacturer as they could never be as good as what they have or what their effort was based upon .
