A friend of mine is just starting an agile project and is having discussions with her organisation

A friend of mine is just starting an agile project and is having discussions with her organisation’s top PM about how he believes he needs to begin to address the project’s needs, particularly in relation to staffing.

The approach he was dictating will be rather familiar to a lot of you:

A PM will lead and manage the project

A BA is needed to undertake analysis and design of the solution, perhaps coupled with an enterprise architect or a solutions architect.

A Developer (or three) is needed to produce the software solution. He’ll also work out how long the project will take based during the initiation phase on assessment of the number of use-cases in the requirements documentation

A Test Manager is required to do the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure the solution doesn’t break when introduced to the big wide world.

You might need an IA or user-experience engineer to help with UAT at the end of the project, or if you’re really advanced in your thinking, they might be involved up front to help clarify the project solution and identify the sets of users’ needs from information classification to navigation paradigms.

… add 4 weeks for requirements and 2 weeks up-front for project initiation, 4 weeks for testing (UAT) at the end, and voila! you’ve got your project plan, n’est pas? (… hmmm … maybe not?)

Given her project is expected to last about 12 months, as soon as you put a PM and a BA on the books, even if its only the equivalent of 1 FTE, you’re already looking at $0.25 million or so before you actually deliver something. So, I put the question to her as to whether you start with roles or whether aspects of what users say they require need to be assessed, prioritised, and then look at the skills needed with people who have those skills to then follow.

Some people think it’s a chicken and egg thing. How do you know where to start if a PM doesn’t sit down and plan out the schedule and a BA assess what’s required? Do you need to do this before you establish that you need a PM to manage the project and a BA to do the analysis?

In essence, preparing for an agile project is just a different way of thinking. Gone are the days where I personally just automatically assign a PM and a BA because I just can’t afford the overhead of having someone to intermittently gauge project risks, update gantt charts (note: I now use Kanban instead) and dictate to the team the tasks they should be doing just because the schedule says to do so.

Here’s my top 10 on how I now begin my agile projects:

I write-up a basic project requirement — after all, you’ve got to start with a list of basic user needs and what that might mean in relation to a solution. I know some organisations who will spend about $10K and two weeks doing initial requirements gathering, interviewing users and/or conducting workshops, and producing something simple to communicate what the project needs.

Me? I like to start with a collection of user stories, a few personas, create storyboards for them in a workshop environment with post-its and pens, and discuss what those user stories might mean in relation to features and sets of features. This typically takes me (and some SMEs like an enterprise architect and an experienced senior BA) a few days.

I then group the requirements into logical feature sets and prioritise them based on an initial assessment of value to the end-user. Card sorting with users is a good way to involve users in ascertaining priority.

I then draw a line in the sand that describes the most simple, skinny solution — one that essentially has to be delivered in about 8 weeks.

I ascertain what documentation might be required or activities that need to be undertaken

I assess what skills are required to complete the activities. If in doubt, check what you needed last time to produce a certain widget, document, or feature set. Document and baseline it often enough and this task becomes a breeze. Record how long it took and suddenly you’ll be able to have a better guess as to how long you’ll need to complete the task.

I then source the people with the right skills and note during the iteration of what feature set when they are required. I don’t care if they call themselves a PM, a BA, or an IA. If they have the right skills for the right job then I want them.

To mitigate against loss of knowledge because different people are involved at different times I use virtual teams to baseline and benchmark specific project elements, like the UI, interaction design, systems architecture, etc. In practice, this means gathering together, for example, all the analysts to have their own stand-up meetings about twice a week and have the most experienced among them take a Sensei role. These Sensei’s have their own stand-up meetings with the Roshi to communicate issues with the baseline.

If I’ve got multiple feature sets to produce in the skinny solution I group the feature sets into logical bundles and assign each bundle to a team. Of course this can cause fragmentation of the solution, particularly with respect to the UI and interaction design. Leveraging the Sensei in the virtual teams however mitigates the likelihood of this occurring.

Each team then needs someone to champion user needs and mentor people to make them more capable to deliver what the project needs (now and in the future) — the team’s Sensei. I simply choose the person that has the most experience and willingness to mentor. Some agile practitioners call this the Product Owner, Product Owner Proxy, the Product Manager or even just the Team Lead (I’m quite partial to Japanese terms and titles though, particularly given they don’t carry a lot of role ‘baggage’ with them).

I then choose the most experienced Sensei amongst all the groups to be the Roshi — the person who will champion the project, teach and mentor the team members, be involved in producing aspects of the project, hold morning standups and communicate issues and risks to the Steering Committee. Some call this the Scrum Master, the Project Lead, the Project Director, or the Project Manager. I don’t care about the title overall, I just want them to:

lead

communicate

champion the project,

not be an ‘extra’ or an ‘overhead’. I want them to be part of the solution and intimately familiar with it.

When I suggested this to a group of PMs in a government department recently someone asked me whether this essentially meant that PMs needed to go out and learn new skills. I simply responded by saying that this was an opportunity for PMs to adapt and learn in order to add greater value to a project.

Working this way to sort out how to begin your agile project isn’t hard. Importantly, it emphasises that from the outset of the project that adding value to users is important and your roles are subservient to that cause.

Siddha Gauranga Das Babaji Maharaj entered nitya lila on Mokshada Ekadashi (Gita Jayanti) of the yea

Siddha Gauranga Das Babaji Maharaj entered nitya lila on Mokshada Ekadashi (Gita Jayanti) of the year 1953. This weekend his festival was held at his ashram, Radharaman Nivas, in Vrindavan. We celebrated with a Nam-Yajna including Gauranga Das Babaji´s suchak kirtan, and sadhu seva for more than 1,500 sadhu-vaishnavs.

Siddha Gauranga Das Babaji was born in an aristocratic brahmin family of Bengal. He was highly educated and uncommonly intelligent. But despite his auspicious home life he always had vairagya in his heart. For his parents´ happiness he finished his degree, but his heart was always set on finding Sri Guru and dedicating his life to spirituality. Influenced by the association of Sister Nivedita, he approached Swami Brahmananda of Belur Math for initiation. Swami Bramhananda blessed him, but said, ¨I am not your Guru. Your Gurudev will be a jewel of Vaishnavas, a maha-siddha. You will meet him at the appropriate time.¨

While still in college he received the merciful glance of Sripad Ramadas Babaji Maharaj who was performing sankirtan in the streets. Babaji Maharaj found in him a strong and worthy vessel for his kripa. He gave him diksha. After diksha it became difficult for him to go to college. Instead of attending school he would sit at the feet of Babaji Maharaj and listen to Hari katha and heart-melting kirtan. Nevertheless, he passed his University exams with high marks. Upon attaining his MA, he left home and joined Babaji Maharaj. After a period of instruction, Babaji Maharaj sent him to Puri, then to Navadvip where he received advanced bhajan siksha from Lalita Sakhi Ma. But when his father came for him in Navadvip to drag him back home, Sakhi Ma instructed him to go to Braja.

In Braja, Gauranga Das Babaji did bhajan under the guidance of Siddha Ramakrishna Das Babaji (Pandit Baba), Siddha Advaita Das Babaji, Siddha Jagdish Das Babaji and other great mahatmas. He fashioned clothing from old jute sacks and wandered around Braja Mandal calling out the name of Sri Radhika, “O Pyari Ji! O Pyari Ji!” During his initial stay in Vraja, Baba lived amongst the trees and creepers deep in the forest of Vrindavan. He had only his cloth, water pot and mala for posessions. To keep his body in this world he did madhukari.

His relationship with the trees of Vrindavan was deep. He used to read to them every evening from Radha-Rasa-Sudhanidhi and other granthas. One evening Baba returned late from madhukari, so he did not read as he usually did. As Baba lay down to sleep under the big barun tree (three-leaved caper), he heard the tree speaking,

“Baba! Won´t you read to us today?”

Baba replied sorrowfully, “Maharaj! I am a vairagi. I have not even a lamp or a match to light it with. How can I read in the dark?”

The tree replied in an affectionate voice, “Just see what I brought for you.” In the knot-hole of the tree, Baba found a big candle and a box of matches. So he sat down to read, and the tree was quite satisfied.

Later, noticing his wonderful devotional characteristics, his kaka guru Sripad Sital Das Babaji asked him to stay in his ashram at Raman Reti and do bhajan there. Whenever any devotee came from Braja to Bengal, Ramadas Babaji would immediately inquire about the welfare of his dear disciples living there. Upon hearing about the bhajan of Gauranga Das Babaji tears of joy would roll down his cheeks. The devotion of Gauranga Das Babaji was so great that Pyari Ji Herself gave him darshan and fed him payasam with Her own lotus hand.

As time went on Sripad Ramadas Babaji Maharaj left this world. When the news reached the ears of Gauranga Das Babaji he proclaimed, “Everything is gone for me! I will not stay here anymore!” Saying this, he entered his bhajan kutir and closed the door. He refused to eat or drink. He did not even touch a single drop of water. Thirteen days after the departure of his beloved Sri Gurudev, he departed from this world to join him in the nitya-lila.

The Departure of Kalpataru Maharaj

The tree that offered a candle for Siddha Gauranga Das Babaji to read by was located in a bagicha not far from Vrindavan Research Institute. This year on the day of Siddha Baba´s disappearance day, that very tree went to join him in the nitya lila. Judging the size of its trunk and number of rings, the tree was over 200 years old. All the disciples of Gauranga Baba’s ashram were heartbroken to find the tree in pieces on Ekadashi morning. Manalika didi from Jaipur commented, “If we had known beforehand they were going to cut the tree, we disciples would have at least tried to purchase the property. All the trees in Vrindavan are kalpatarus, but this tree was really special. Gurudev (Dinahari Das Babaji Maharaj) always tells us to take darshan of the tree whenever we come to see him.”

A few years back I remember watching the PBS special on Marcus Garvey called Inherit the Whirlwind.

A few years back I remember watching the PBS special on Marcus Garvey called Inherit the Whirlwind. One particular turning point in Garvey’s life has always stayed with me because it seems, clear as day to me, to be a trace (could one call it an “African cultural survival“?) of an initiatory rite of passage into manhood. Whether intended as such or not, I believe it had that effect.

Here is the account (with, what I think is some relevant preface) from the transcript of the documentary:

NARRATOR: Volatile and secretive, yet charismatic and visionary, Marcus Garvey changed forever the way black Americans looked at themselves and the world.

ROBERT HILL: He started something that became bigger than Garvey himself. He, more than any other figure in the twentieth century, symbolizes the turning of the perception of Black people into something positive.

ROBERT HILL: Garvey’s father was a mason, a professional mason, and among the things that he did was to, ah, create tombs for people in the St. Anne’s Bay graveyard. He took Garvey with him to the grave yard one day and they were digging this grave and his father had Garvey go down inside the grave, but then he pulled the ladder up and left the child in the bottom of the grave.

ROBERT HILL: Garvey said that he cried out and his father wouldn’t let him get back up out of the grave. He wanted to teach him a lesson.

NARRATOR: Alone in the grave, young Marcus Garvey learned that he could rely on no one but himself. It was a lesson he would carry for the rest of his life.

Indeed. That is the kind of thing that would stay with you, right? Your father digs a grave, puts you in and leaves you there, just in time for puberty, when all those hormones are racing around and you’re ripe to learn all the right or wrong things or a mixture of the two. When you come out, you are Marcus Garvey, the leader of the first international civil rights movement of the modern era, one thousand times scarier to the The Rulers (whoever They are) than Martin Luther King would be decades later.

Aside of this event in Garvey’s life bearing the markers of an initiatory rite, it has always stayed with me for another reason. If a father, well-meaning enough, in this modern day and age were to aim to emulate what Garvey’s father did, with a well-meaning heart and all, it would most definitely be considered abuse by his neighbors, any passersby and the local authorities. Of course, if child having undergone such an experience were to mention it to a teacher, that teacher, in hir capacity as an agent of the State, would be obligated to report it.

The question is, would it be abuse? And was what Garvey’s father did to him that one night long ago, also abuse? What matters more in these circumstances, the perceptions of the actors in the drama–father and son–or of the outside observer? Could the father be deluded and dangerous in committing such an action? Does the context of the rite and the outcome, a positive transformation of the child’s psyche, matter or not? Somehow the Garvey incident seems a far cry from tales, true or mythical, of Satanic Ritual Abuse, parents allegedly forcing their children to sacrifice animals or who knows what to the Old Horny-Eyed Master of Evil (trademark pending). Aside from the devil-stuff, animal sacrifice, in and of itself, is not necessarily traumatizing (to the individual, I mean, not the animal) or nefarious, imho, so again there seems to be some importance to context and intent, “set and setting.” The interpretation and reaction of the one acted-upon seem s a vital determinent, nevertheless, of whether something is abuse or not.

Then, there’s the cultural question: because, hey, inducing intense fear or panic states is one of the oldest and most reliable roads to creating open states of consciousness and loosening up previous conditioning. It’s the not-so-secret-secret that is used by everyone from horror movie directors to Freemasons, to Operating Thetans, to government wars on abstract concepts and inanimate objects, to evangelical preachers screaming hellfire and the Kingdom of Heaven for six hours before pulling in the soon-to-be faithful for a Bible and a hug. It can be used for good, for bad, for superficial or sublime purposes and anything and everything in between.

Cheap thrills, religious conversions and initiations run along a continuum of things utilizing the same technique: trial by fear. It is in no ways a fail-proof, 100% assured method of inducing a change in someone’s consciousness, whether they will it or not. You only need look at how often Born-Agains slip back into bullshit behavior and have to go back to get another “scare-the-shit-out-of-you” sermon. However, in the right (or wrong) person, at the right (wrong) time and place, with the exact context necessary for that individual, the trial by fear can lead to a permanent change of self-and-other perception. You can make heroes or madman.

No wonder the trial by fear is ripe for abuse, but that’s not the only possibility. Traditional African religions, the ancient mysteries of the Mediterranean and Near East, the rebirth visions of Siberian shamans ripped apart by wild animals and then put back together again: these things are also trials by fear and in their proper context, could not and should not be mistaken for abuse–right?–or could they?

Am I being naive?

***

One more thing: Does the age of the person undergoing a ritual/initiatory act determine whether it is abuse or not? What about if ritual scarification/cutting is involved? What’s the difference between a rabbi circumcising an unwilling baby and a priest of an Afro-Cuban religion cutting a seven year old? (Try to get past the sensationalist presentation and racist suggestions of “evil black magic” religion in this link, if you dare.)

Discuss.

After the incredible and the forces of destruction sank the mainland of Atlantis some 800 hundred th

After the incredible and the forces of destruction sank the mainland of Atlantis some 800 hundred thousand years ago ,The Great one fled to higher ground and found their way to the mountain ranges of Tibet,The Rocky’s,The Urals, the Andes, and as well as some places that are underground. It was from these retreats that they have been overseeing the human evolution ,from behind the scene for many 10’s of thousands and are awaiting the time age after age until humanity has come to the realization that we are all brothers and sisters of one humanity, and that we all have been born together as one human family learning the laws of right human relationships.

In most cases the Master will come into contact with the person through 1 the dream state,2 during some form of deep meditation,3Through direct contact in the flesh, and this is very rare. There are many all over the world who are being groomed to be overshadowed by the Christ and with other Masters as well. There have been teams of investigators who have gone into the Himalaya’s to seek out these Masters and to document their lives and to see how they live from day to day.One such group was a team under Baird T Spalding who wrote about the miraculous things they would perform on behalf another. These Masters at that time did not want their real identity known to all ,a least for now. Many of the scientists that were there and witnessed the Masters do incredible things such as walking on water, and causing a seed to come forth into full flower in just a matter of minutes and the many healing acts were genuine beyond belief.

We can not contact the Masters ,as the law is that they will contact us ,and only if we have some way to serve the hierarchy, such as some skill or gift that could be used to help humanity in some way.It is more likely that the Masters will come into contact with those who are advanced enough to undertake the work that is needed ,and those would be people who have no marriage,or children, and who are well versed in the occult and who have a lot of time on their hands to be able to do this kind of work, and these will include those who have taken the first initiation 1.0 or at least coming up to that point who may be standing at about 0.7-0.9.There are at this time about 40 Masters of Wisdom who are now coming into the world ,and one of the reasons that they are here is that they have heard the evocative cry for help coming from the human kingdom

The Master D>K has stated that one of the greatest forms of service that we all can give to each

The Master D>K has stated that one of the greatest forms of service that we all can give to each other is the mastery over the astral-emotional body ,for it is one of the most difficult aspects of the human nature .96% of the human race are still very astrally polarized as it has taken over 12 millions of years to develop, and that was during the Atlantean root race.So well we have perfected this vehicle that the majority of today’s humanity are still Atlantean in consciousness ,and will be for a very long time to come.

The next stage of evolution is the development of the mental planes and body which will take a very long time and will include two rounds of evolutionary effort, and will take many millions of years and many incarnations to achieve, for we are the ‘Sons of Mind’who have issued forth from the heart of Brahman ,and hence the name ”Mind Born Sons of Brahma”.Each and everyone of us is at this time engaged in the evolutionary journey of self discovery and are rising higher with each and every eon that passes by.Each and everyone of us must learn to master the forces and the elementals which go into the make up of our body, such as the fire elementals who go into the make up of our lower passions and the animal herd instinct which keeps so many ego’s earthbound and unable to rise above the lower astral planes which are very dark and more miserable than that which we find right here on earth.

The control and mastery over the astral planes are of the most difficult to achieve, hence making the second initiation the most difficult task due to the fact that man is at this time polarized in his emotion-astral body, and is making effort to wrestling his way into the clear light of the soul where all is revealed as the glamour no longer distorts his outlook on life, just as mist dissolves in the light of day and thus see our way ahead. It is after the first initiation that we begin to enter the battlefield upon the astral planes and can take 6-7 lives to go from the first to the second initiation which is a long journey in itself.

Only those who have a sound mind and who are not obsessed by any disembodied human being who are always trying to get into contact with with those who are still incarnated within a earthly body. The astral plane is ,as I have said before,is the major battlefield for those who have taken the first initiation and will continue for several incarnation which usually about 6-7 lives ,or incarnations.Once the second initiation has been taken then the processes of spiritual evolution is speed ed up with incredible energy. After the second initiation the whole thing is then positive and the initiate begins to work upon the astral planes with ease, and then comes the ability to read the akashic records which is to be found on the highest astral and mental planes. The initiate as well has the power to look from above to see the whole picture as to what really happend by reading the akashic records and can help people in this way..

There are at this time many very highly advanced ego’s that are now coming into incarnation who will [when they get older]have major roles to play, for some of them have at least taken the first and second initiation and therefore have many gifts that can be put to use in the construction of the coming new world civilization and will have much to do with the beautifying of our great cities of the world.

I am.
The pillar of fire; the That which is and all men fear to be.
I am.
From the depths of the Universe,
All that there is.
Bring me. Feel me. See me.
I am the fear that is in me.
I am power.
I am force.
I am all that is held.
Be me.

I have been that pillar of fire.
I have laid my hand upon men as they look into death.
I have compelled.
I have driven.
I have been and will always be.

To shake a mans heart at the touch of brow, to compel, to fear; to fear and be compelled.
Strike down! Man!
Strike down.
I have been that inferno, that despair, that treachery.

That within. That without that is within. Within me, be me.

For every guide there is a told, for every told there is a lie. To lie and to tell the truth. Lie, and tell the truth!

Red coats dance at the gates over a fire of golden hues (he) dances to the monks and tells the lie that is upon their tattered pates. An event. A plate. To treat, to divine.

All went through their hearts, it is my treason they wish upon hearts of those men when I touch their brow.

Initiation: It’s one of the undisputed & one of the most memorable highlights of sorority

Initiation: It’s one of the undisputed & one of the most memorable highlights of sorority life. At the same time, it’s also the beginning of another chapter in a book with no ending.

Initiation is the beginning of life as a bonafide member of the organization of whom you are a part/represent, the beginning of life as a full-fledged member of a sorority/fraternity. It’s a wonderful experience unlike any other, a chance to take the lessons that you learned during your new membership programming & put them to powerful use as an active.

Truth be told, Initiation is not about “having arrived.” It has always been so much more than this. Initiation is just another beginning of your journey in sisterhood: you’ll still have more lessons to learn, more experiences to shape & build your character along the way, more work cut out for you to make your experience as a sister still count as something relevant & of high value. From here on out, nothing will be quite the same – this much is for certain.

Initiation is the start of a brand new day & the start of a whole new chapter in one’s life as a member of the Greek community. No doubt, it’s where your journey in sisterhood really begins from here on out.

I’m writing this post because so many well-meaning, conscious, spiritual people are missing so

I’m writing this post because so many well-meaning, conscious, spiritual people are missing some significant information and tools when it comes to Law of Attraction and being a conscious cocreator of your life with Spirit.

One of my wonderful Facebook friends recently wrote a post:

“If you examine your history, you cannot help but repeat it! Law of Attraction says it is so:

‘Whatever I am looking at, I am including in my vibration.’ — Abraham”

This sparked a controversy with 19 people weighing in, many fully agreeing and many others, myself included, objecting to this as an oversimplification and stating that, even though it is true that our focus does permeate our vibration and thus create, it is actually NECESSARY to understand and heal our past in order to learn what we need to from it and be able to truly free ourselves from its hold on us and move on into something even better.

We have to put our attention on our intention BUT if we are not aligned strongly and consistently enough with our intention, if we are trying really hard to make it happen but it’s just not working, that’s a sure sign we need to do some inner healing work before we do any more manifesting and attracting and creating. It’s inner, not, outer time, first.

I feel so strongly that so many New Age, metaphysical folks are so hyped up about positive thinking and “just focus on what you want,” they are missing something vital:

For most people, with most long-term issues, simply striving to be positive and focus on their intentions is NOT enough to bring about the desired results. We need to learn from our past, and use that wisdom to create our best future, while living in and enjoying the present.

So here I go on my soap box again.

The Abraham work and all the other good Law of Attraction stuff out there is not intended to be interpreted as “Ladeeda, we can just be positive 100% of the time and only good things will come to us. All that yucky stuff from the past – I’m done with that now and all I have to do is think good thoughts and I will attract all my desires. Abracadabra!”

So allow me to bust that myth and empower you with a much more in-depth and practical approach:

1- Our past is important. Just as our current emotions are indicators of the distance between where we are at and where we want to be, our past is one of our teachers as well. We can – and indeed need to – turn our wounds into wisdom. Some of our life experiences we may label “good” or “positive,” we feel we were successful and these we can apply to continue to utilize and build upon what worked for us, while the so-called “negative” experiences or failures are also useful in several ways.

For one thing, we can clarify more clearly what, exactly we DO want by contrasting it with what we do NOT want anymore. This applies equally well to health and lifestyle choices, work, home, community, as well as relationships.

Secondly, we can learn psychologically and spiritually: What was my lesson in this?

Thirdly,we can discover, with proper reflection, which may include prayer, meditation, journaling, counseling, or even insightful conversations, that there was truly a silver lining, a gift in every experience we have had. Sometimes we don’t see it at the time, it feels horrible, we may even be devastated that that relationship or career didn’t work out, that we had that disability or lost our house, but ultimately, when we see through the eyes of Spirit and Love, we will always find that everything happened for a reason and we can find something to be grateful for, even if it’s just the ability to make a different choice next time.

2- Until we learn our lessons from the past, we are going to UNCONSCIOUSLY repeat them. This is true of humanity when we look at larger societal choices as well as on the personal level. Ignoring our past and zapping it like it didn’t even happen is not the solution. In fact, ignoring our past and stuffing it over there, oh, that’s too messy, I don’t want to deal with that right now, does not free us from it, it actually dooms us to repeat it.

3- The Abraham work says that our DOMINANT thought is the one that runs the show, and I agree with this. The catch is: Our dominant thought is seldom a conscious thought, so we cannot expect to simply push a button and “There, I’m only going to think good thoughts, feel good feelings and make good choices from now on.”

We have to heal all those billions of subconscious beliefs that we are carrying around which arose out – what? Our past experiences and programming, of course.

I do agree that many people spend far too much time simply repeating their “story,” which actually keeps them stuck in it and keeps giving it energy. There is a big difference between looping an old version of a reality we no longer want, whining about it, being a drama king/queen, vs. actually being willing to visit the past (with support if necessary) with the intention of looking in the mirror, releasing what no longer serves, with forgiveness, finding the lesson and gift in it, and moving confidently forward into a better life we are creating for ourselves, from the inside out.

Do we need to look at our past? Absolutely.Do we need to keep telling it over and over? Absolutely not.

4- We need to process stuck emotions. Sometimes we need to move some rage. Shake off some old energy. Sometimes we need to express ourselves to someone, forgive, be forgiven, and it doesn’t matter if they’re alive or dead or whether their human self is willing to hear a word we are saying. We just talk to their Higher Self, soul to soul. We look in the mirror and show them a mirror as well. I have an extensive guided meditation and energy healing journey that I guide people through called the Healing Past Relationships Journey (soon to be available as a CD/MP3 audio) which facilitates this soul-to-soul communication, energy exchange, forgiveness and healing. Or you may be able to do it for yourself, perhaps by writing a letter or through ceremony. We need to visit our past just enough to learn from it and to heal it, not rehash it or keep talking about it for decades.

We also need to forgive ourselves. And forgive God!

The work I do as an energy healer, intuitive, hypnotherapist and life coach focuses on identifying the current condition of your Body, Mind, Heart and Soul and creating a complete, intuitively guided healing program that empowers you to remember who you really are, to love and heal yourself completely, and to clarify your vision and reawaken your passion, power and life purpose — to create the life and love of your dreams. I am a Law of Attraction coach, and people often begin working with me when they realize (see with Real Eyes) that they are working so dang hard on themselves, have been for years, yet something is still stuck. They are willing, finally, to do what it takes to really succeed, so we go places, often in the first session, that completely amazes them.

5- We need to heal core issues and heal on all levels.

For example, some of my recent clients have improved their relationships, found lasting love, launched their heart-centered business, created more harmony in their parenting or other family relationships…..In every case, we needed to do some deep CORE ISSUE healing at the level of the SOUL and the ENERGY FIELD, the kind of healing that is more difficult to do by one’s self when we are emotionally caught up in our “stuff,” scared, frustrated and depleted.

I do sometimes have clients who try to turn the sessions into talk therapy and keep going on and on about their problems. They are stuck in their story. So I ask them, “Do you want to talk about it or do you want to heal it?” If they keep wanting to talk about it, they are not ready for the kind of healing I do. If they want to heal it, I can help them heal themselves but we have to go much deeper than just talking. Deep omnidimensional energy healing at the soul level i.e. soul retrieval, regression, rebirthing, hypnotherapy/NLP, ceremony, forgiveness work, can be extremely helpful, especially if a person is unable to break free of an old belief/energy. We shift the energy & belief at the original cause and core. I channel empowering self-healing techniques they can do on their own to continue the healing and keep building the positive energy.

We don’t ever have to be 100% healed, nor is that even possible so long as we are human. But we need to be healed enough to be free to focus on what we do want, move forward and create from an aligned, clear, positive state of being and love.

6- ALIGN, ATTRACT, ACT.

People so caught up in the Law of Attraction who simply read a few books, go to a few workshops, watch a couple of movies, often fail to understand that trying to get into ACTION mode before you are ALIGNED does not work. Law of Attraction works – once we are aligned with our desires. If some part of our subconscious mind or energy field is still playing the tape of a limiting, negative belief, we are not going to be able to just attract what we want, no matter how many affirmations we say or vision boards we make!

7 – I want to make one more point about the past and this concept of time. We can only live in one time: the present. We need to heal and learn from our past and draw upon its power, we need to envision and align with our best future, and yet we can only live right here, right now. All times exist in this moment of choice: now.

I personally feel we need to spend MOST of our attention right here, where we live. In this body. On this planet. Enjoying this life to the fullest. Mindful. Heartful. Soulful. Bodyful. Beautiful! When we work with the concept of time as fluid and simultaneous and quantum rather than linear, we find that every moment is a portal home.

We can also change our past shamanically, redream it. This helps us create our best future as well. This can be done through shamanic trance healing and/or conscious dreaming.

We each have the power to facilitate miraculous healing and success beyond our wildest imagination. We don’t have to spend years healing the past. We can heal it in an instant, or it may take several months or longer, but if we go deep enough and work at the level of the soul, core beliefs and original causes, the quantum and cosmic fields and on all levels, if we do this work with a vibration of love for ourselves and all beings, we will grow into being who we came here to be.

I love the Abraham work but sometimes a phrase taken by itself does not present the complexities of the spiritual nature of the Universe. True healing and conscious creation of our lives will always involve navigating the territory of our past with loving kindness and forgivness, with an open mind and a willingness to learn and grow so we can create an even better future. And we can do this today.

Healers or Therapists sometimes do absorb the negative influences of their patients.

Make me sweet again fragrant and fresh and wild and thankful for any small event. - Rumi This month

Make me sweet again

fragrant and fresh and wild

and thankful for any small event.

- Rumi

This month we all come together with loved ones and devote our awareness for a few hours to thankfulness. Perhaps your family, like mine, will join hands and take turns sharing what each one is grateful for, today and over the past year. And whether you have a formal or informal practice of expressing gratitude at your Thanksgiving table, I’m sure you feel the energy of gratitude throughout your celebration.

But why do we reserve a mere one day a year for this? I propose we make every day a day of giving thanks. Oh, we don’t have to stuff ourselves with stuffing and gobble down turkey…Somehow I think the original intention of the holiday, gratitude for the Earth’s bounty, for peaceful, harmonious coexistence, for life itself, has gotten lost in all the gluttony and football games.

Let’s remember the true spirit of Thanksgiving, not only on the holiday, but throughout our lives. To be full of greatness, we must be grateful.

We must laugh and

We must sing.

We are blest by everything.

Everything we look upon is blest.

- William Butler Yeats

So why should we practice gratitude more often? Here are 5 good reasons:

1. You will feel happier.

When we focus on how full our cups already are, we experience life in a much more positive way. Most of us in this country do not have cups that are half full, half empty, as the saying goes. Our cups are 90% full! Look around you. Look within you. How full is your cup? The Universe is showering blessings upon you each and every day, each and every moment, and we can choose to see and appreciate these gifts or remain unconscious, cranky and unfulfilled. Enough cvetching already! Do you want to be (more) happy? Gratitude is the fastest, most effective way to increase your personal sense of joy about the life you are already living.

2. Gratitude facilitates more harmony in relationships.

Expressing gratitude and appreciation to the people in our lives, of course in a sincere way, from the heart, improves our relationships. As a relationship coach, I have seen that the simple practice of focusing on the positive and expressing true appreciation can dramatically improve marriages, friendships and even work relationships.

This doesn’t mean you have to “suck it up” and put up with being disrespected or abused. If your relationship brings you more pain than joy, you will need in-depth counseling and much more than just a “focus on the positive” bandaid. But for most generally healthy relationships, sprinkling more “Thank you so much for doing that!”s and “I really appreciate…”s, expressing the love in your heart can do wonders.

Many of us take so much for granted, particularly from the people we love the most. Everyone needs to feel seen, heard and valued and this enhances intimacy and emotional safety, bringing you closer.

3. God/The Universe will bestow more blessings upon you. I don’t claim to be in charge of the Universe, but it is a universal spiritual law that the more thankful we are, the more blessings we receive! It’s as if remembering to say “Thank you!” opens the faucet of life’s blessings. I truly have noticed that it’s more than just being more aware of what is already present; there is, over time, an actual increase in things to be thankful FOR.

What you think about, and thank about, you bring about. – Dr. John Demartini

Perhaps our Creator appreciates being appreciated, just as we do, and is more inclined to give more of the good stuff to us when we really appreciate what we get. As Neal Donald Walsch, author of Conversations with God, says, the correct prayer is one of gratitude.

There is an old Jewish proverb that goes like this. Two men, equally poor (or equally rich, depending on your perspective) meet in the village. The first man says, “So how is it going with you?”

The second man replies, “Oy! Life is terrible. My wife is sick, my cow won’t give milk, and business is lousy.”

God, hearing his response, thinks “Why you ingrate! I just gave you a new house, healed your ulcer, and found the best husband for your daughter. So you think things are bad now? I’ll give you something to complain about!”

Finally, the second man stops his kvetching and asks the other fellow, “What about you?”

“Well, I tell you, life is so good. We fixed the leak in my pipes so now my house is dry again. I had a nice Sabbath with my wife and children, a humble meal, but we are together. My horse, well, his leg is still broken but he’s such a good friend to me, and I know business will pick up soon,” his neighbor replies.

God smiles and thinks, “So you think things are good now? I’ll give you something to be thankful for!”

So whether you think of the source of blessings as God, the Universe, or your own intention, gratitude is an essential key to loving your life, and it opens the door to greater and greater blessings, creating a positive spiral that continues to build.

Here is a wonderful message I channeled for you from Archangel Michael:

G O D = Gratitude Opening Doors!

As William Blake said, “The thankful receiver bears a plentiful harvest.”

4. You will also receive more of what you want from the people in your life.

Of course, this applies on the human level as well as the spiritual level. Have you ever had a friend of family member that you gave gifts to, but who never remembered to thank you? Didn’t you feel after a while, “Hey, why should I bother giving them anything? They never even appreciate it.” And after a while, you feel resentful and stop giving them gifts, am I right? I thought so. Therefore, when we appreciate what we receive, whether tangible or intangible, from others, we actually receive more because we are give-to-able. We receive with an open heart and open hands, with a smile. People love to give, and there is a great gift in being a giver, but only when we sense that the gift is truly received and appreciated.

It’s important to receive graciously, compliments and favors as well as physical presents.

How well you receive compliments symbolizes how well you receive love.

Practice being a wide receiver. – Alan Cohen

If you tend to argue or inwardly doubt it when people praise you, you have some deep self-love work to do. If you have been a “giveaholic” your whole life, or if you have a hard time believing in your own worthiness,or just feel disconnected from your joy, I suggest you get The Radical Self-Love Workbook, a complete course in deepening unconditional self-love, deservingness and creating the life of your dreams, from the inside out! (It also makes a wonderful holiday gift for someone you love who needs to love themselves and their lives more.)

http://www.loveandspirit.org/book1.html

5. It’s just plain polite. Courtesy. Etiquette. Manners. It’s the right thing to do. It also sets a good example for others, of all ages. ‘Nuf said.

So join me this month and always in cocreating a more positive life experience for yourself and our community by making every day thanks-giving!

Welcome to my Sage’s Wisdom Pages blog! This site is dedicated to sharing inspirational and transformational resources to help you become a more powerful manifester of the life you desire.

I am a woman with a mission! I am 100% committed to helping people live lives that are more conscious, abundantly prosperous, personally fulfilling, creative, spiritually awakened, Earth-honoring and above all, full of love.

I have served as a professional spiritual counselor, workshop facilitator, keynote speaker, energy healer, hypnotherapist, meditation teacher, relationship and success life coach for over 15 years and am also the author of The Radical Self-Love Workbook, and many hypnomeditation audios including Aligning with Abundance and many more.

By using the empowering, holistic tools and practices for healing Body, Mind, Heart & Spirit that I will share with you, I have changed my life so magnificently, I am a living example of the power of these techniques. In my 20s, I was chronically ill with a serious lung disease called sarcoid, along with carpal tunnel syndrome so disabling I had to quit my career as a journalist. I also had a third disability in my spine and had to walk with a brace and cane for 4 months. I was told I would never run, dance or jump ever again and would be lucky to be able to walk without a cane. This at the age of 25! I was married to a depressed man who eventually became abusive. Fortunately, I had the self-respect to walk away the moment my life was endangered, and recreated myself. I was poor, sick, and depressed myself, despite doing everything I knew how to do to “pick myself up by my bootstraps” and think positively. I prayed, meditated, saw numerous healers of every variety, and still I was struggling and suffering.

But I kept faith and never gave up. In 1994, over a three-month period, I began having visions and dreams so powerful and frightening, they were more than just a dream. I felt a tingling energy building in my body and felt a sense of great excitement, as if something momentous was about to happen. Indeed, in one life-changing 18-hour period in the Baja Desert of Mexico, with a Cherokee soul sister friend, I went through three Near-Death Experiences that changed my life forever. My friend and I both were seeing and hearing signs and spiritual messages continuously. (The fact that we were both seeing and hearing these other-worldly things at the same time helped us not think we were losing our minds, and I’m grateful for that!)

The story of that experience, which turned out to be a shamanic initiation, is so intense and rich, it deserves, and someday will be, its own book. For now, I will say that, ever since, I have been blessed to feel a connection with Spirit so continous, so joyous and so clear, I received my calling to be a healer, spiritual teacher and messenger of Love. I have written numerous books, articles, literally hundreds of poems and songs, and have been thankful to create a life I love, living and fulfilling my divine purpose and making a difference in the lives of thousands of people.

I am now completely healed of the back, sarcoid and carpal tunnel disabilities and enjoy a full, healthy, prosperous life with an energy of love in my household and heart that are unparalleled. Perhaps because of all that I have been through, I have a deep sense of gratitude for each and every day of living, for the ability to just walk and breathe and dance and sing – and live. People tell me I have a very old soul yet a youthful spirit and seldom guess my age correctly. (How old do you think I am? Write me a comment.)

I recently presented The Radical Self-Love Experience to 930 people at T. Harv Eker’s “All Your Relations” seminar in San Diego, where I launched my first book, The Radical Self-Love Workbook, 14 years in the making. I cannot tell you how joyful my heart felt to touch the lives of all those beautiful people, sharing love and helping them remember who they really are! They gave me a 10-minute standing ovation and bought hundreds of my books, which are now in six countries. I work with clients all over the world to break free from old, unconscious limiting beliefs, negative self-talk and fear, and to align with their heart’s desire and life purpose in a way that is happy, healthy, prosperous and heart-centered.

You deserve to have it all. You do not have to keep struggling and suffering. Positive change is not easy, but with the right resources, both inner and outer, you can and will create the life you came here to live. The key is to address your unconscious beliefs and energy field, because as long as you are trying to change just by willpower, guess what? It becomes won’t power pretty quickly, doesn’t it? This is why 80% of dieters gain back all the weight and smokers light up that cigarette again, within 1 year of trying to change. And body care is, in some ways, easier to change than thoughts, feelings, work and relationship choices, which can be much more complex.

I will be sharing tips and techniques herein that draw from Eastern and Western wisdom traditions, advanced Law of Attraction, spirituality, holistic and mind-body healing and much more. So I invite you to subscribe to this blog and visit often. Blessings!

The moment of choice, the moment of change, is now.
