I love TED. We are very close friends. Vox Lumina, a fellow bright sharer of light – also know

I love TED. We are very close friends. Vox Lumina, a fellow bright sharer of light – also known as Brooke Smokelin - is a beautifully luminescent woman who introduced me to TED a few years ago. I have been a loyal fan ever since.

So! Allow me to introduce you – Blog Fans, this is TED … TED, these are my Blog Fans. Now talk amongst yourselves. Here’s a topic -

What is your one wish to change the world?

Maybe before you answer such a BIG question, you would like to listen to a fellow artist and photographer’s wish – I KNOW you will be inspired.

This is JR. Yep, that’s his name … that’s all he goes by. Odd I know – so artsy of him, right? That’s so “French”. Really, he is. He is a French street artist who began as a graffiti artist. When it comes to thinking BIG this guy knows no limits. I consider myself to be a way out of the box thinker and I come up with some pretty crazy ideas so when I watched this TED Talk I was instantly pissed that this wasn’t MY idea! It’s that brilliant. I am so in love with his idea because my photographic genre is Portraiture and JR takes this genre to the ultimate extreme. Meeting this man is definitely on my bucket list.

I find this one of his photographs to be the most moving. Your first reaction is to smile or even laugh. But for me there is a tear jerking reaction of hope and love when you realize what kind of men these are with their faces plastered as murals next to each other … in the middle of a conflicted part of the world.

JR’s Wish

“I wish for you to stand up for what you care about

by participating in a global art project, and together we’ll turn the world…INSIDE OUT.”

Watch his Ted Talk by clicking on the link below.

(Parents, he uses a few off color words in his talk, so you may want to preview it, but I still highly recommend sharing it with your kids. They will connect with his speech and be inspired by his Inside Out Global Art Project.)

First of all, if you are not aware of this unbelievable global art project by French Street Artist,

First of all, if you are not aware of this unbelievable global art project by French Street Artist, JR, then please, do yourself a favor and click HERE to get updated on this epic event!

So, JR has hit New York and he has plastered amazing pictures throughout the city. This time, JR has pasted the faces of local immigrant shopkeepers who work in Brooklyn. The genius part, is that he has placed these posters on the stoops of the Bergen Street brownstones, see below…

The face of a man named Muhammed, from Yemen, who works in a local deli.

Massive posters have also been pasted up in other areas of the city, below are some more images taken throughout New York. I am so in love with this project, it is so creative and the fact that the posters are of real, everyday people makes it so special.

How would you like to see a black and white, billboard-sized print of either your face, your brother

How would you like to see a black and white, billboard-sized print of either your face, your brother’s face, your child’s face or just someone to make you smile? Well the French Street Artist, JR, is bringing all this to a wall near you!

That’s right! JR has launched a project called ‘Inside Out’ which has turned out to be one of the biggest global art projects ever attempted and I am super excited.

So I can hear you asking yourself ‘what’s the dealio!?’ He is asking the general public everywhere to supply him with photos of a face, which he will then blow up to a billboard-sized print and return back to you. He then wants you to paste them up , anywhere, on walls, roofs, across buildings, on fences, basically, anywhere you can, preferably in a place that matters to you. This project has been described as ‘street art, crowd-sourced and super sized!’

This sensational project won JR this year’s TED prize, the prestigious award has previously been given to celebs such as Bono, Bill Clinton and Jamie Oliver. The award involves being given $100,000 and “One Wish to Change The World,” JR’s response to this was: “I wish for you to stand up for what you care about by participating in a global art project and together we’ll turn the world inside out.”

The project has just kicked off in Tunisia, where huge portraits were pasted on billboards, in Sidi Bouziz (the village where the revolution started) on stacked police cars in the center of town, inside and on the facade of the house of the ex-Ben Ali Party, inside and outside of a police station, as well as the center of the city’s capital, Tunis.

Below are some pictures from the first leg of this amazing global art project!
