I live in the centre of the UK, which means the sea is a good trek in any one direction. Fortunately

I live in the centre of the UK, which means the sea is a good trek in any one direction. Fortunately the metaverse allows for a breath of ocean air, and with plentiful shopping opportunities along the cliffsides I didn’t even need to concern myself with walking across a shingled beach.

Let’s start with the hair (largely because I’ll burst if I don’t rave immediately): I was incredibly impressed with this weather-worn style from Exile, which has everything from a great shape to glorious textures. The style works from a side parting, the hair blown heavy across the right side of the face, wisps flying free while the main body of hair holds reasonably firm to frame the face. I am besotted with the expert use of flexi-prims to the front, which give a bouncy movement that finishes the style perfectly. Kavar Cleanslate certainly understands the nuances of creating funky but realistic styles, including the use of great textures. The darker shades really don’t do his hairs justice – I recommend medium or lighter tones for a real ‘wow’ factor.

I’m also itching to tell you about Tuli’s new skin line, Bella. I often have to tweak my shape to get the most from a skin, and there was no exception in this instance, but it really was worth the effort. The face is quite enchanting – I preferred the red brows with my choice of hair colour and also to compliment the makeup, but you will also find brown and light brow options included. The features are very realistic, highlights and lowlights well defined and tiny blemishes here and there giving a real depth. I especially like the subtle lines to either side of the mouth, offering more than a suggestion of expression. I did find the shading under the lower lip a little dark at first, giving rise to a fear of the lips bleeding, but in honesty the more I look the more I love every aspect.

I paired with eyes from PixelDolls. I only picked these up a few days ago, but they go perfectly with a realistic skin because of the vein marbling on the eye whites. It’s not at all overdone and compliments the shiny pupils which have just enough of a reflection on them to really draw attention.

When I finally got used to the idea of getting dressed (Tuli does a lovely body, so if you’re not going to share then you should at least spend some time admiring it yourself), I picked out some unseasonal but beautiful pieces that seemed to fit the base look. The bolero is from an outfit by MichaMi and is done in a closely woven tweed, cropped to the front and back with a double button fastening below the throat. This is the sort of piece that suits an all-season wardrobe – pair with long sleeves for winter or pop on over a summer top to keep the chill off.

The shirt is from Mischief, a crossover wrap design with a closed back. While I do love this shirt and think the front is convincing, be warned that the side seams are stark (I believe this is an older design). The sheer material demanded I protect my modesty, so I chose one of my many pieces of Insolence lingerie to compliment. Delores is a soft cup triangle style made in a delicate lace that is just as beautiful when glimpsed through clothing. I am a devotee to Camilla Yosuke’s underwear, and even though usually I may be the only one who knows I have it on, I still think it’s an elegant luxury every woman should afford herself.

The skirt is something I picked out from Nyte’N'Day. I was rather taken with the floral pattern as I’m very much of the opinion that there really aren’t enough print items inworld. This is designed in a tiered style, the layered effect working well with movement – it’s scripted so that you can position it to lay nicely when your avatar is seated, although you can wear a non-script version if you prefer. I dressed the waist with a simple buckle belt from the MNK store – this was a group gift a little while back, and doesn’t seem to be available in store, but can easily be swapped out for something similar.

I accessorised with a pretty neckerchief from Decoy. It’s got a great shape to it, the material laying wide to the right and pinching to a knot at the left, with short loose ends. I did tint to match the bracelet and shoes I’m wearing.

The bracelet is one I’ve previously blogged for Lookr. Siyu Suen’s creations always grab my attention, and Orinthia is in my opinion one of her best pieces of jewellery to date. The bangle tapers back from a cabochon gemstone, the metal twisted into delicate swirls throughout. It’s ornate enough to be interesting without any pretention, and the metal and stone colour change feature gives you countless options to make it excellent value for money.

I finished with shoes are from Shiny Things: fittingly I chose the Tuli pumps, which are simple round-toe heels decorated with a large bow to the front that gives an indulgently girlie feel. The shape is excellent with heels locking solidly to the back, with a lovely leather texture that shimmers with highlights to the toes and heels.

I have a dog. He’s pretty damned old. And I mean that. Like, goddamned old. Of an age that man

I have a dog. He’s pretty damned old. And I mean that. Like, goddamned old. Of an age that many a younger, healthier, better dog than he has died from merely contemplating. As of April, he will be about 20 years old. And in dog years, that’s what’s professionally known as “f*cking old”.

He should, by all rights, be dead. He’s blind, arthritic, increasingly deaf, nearly toothless, and is working his hardest to embody the very definition of “insolent old arse” (for more on the douche baggery of my puppy, see here. He’s largely incontinent, although it is generally understood in my family that this is less of a medical condition and more a side effect of the “insolent old arse” condition. He’s always been a big fan of using the gifts god gave him – specifically, his bodily functions – to demonstrate annoyance, anger, sadness, loneliness, or plain ol’ douche baggery. We are of the mind that he has simply now adopted an attitude of “yeah, I shat myself, right here on the carpet. I’m f*cking old. What are you gonna do, you cowardly little shit? That’s right, you’re gonna get right down on your hands and knees and clean that turd up, because I’m f*cking old.”

It’s surprisingly effective – to my knowledge, in every instance we have done just that. But the fact of the matter is that as old, thin, toothless, blind, incontinent, and cantankerous my jerk-faced dog might be, he’s also remarkably healthy for a dog of his age. He seems to be looking the Guinness Book of Records in the face, not death. But what is the secret to his long life? We’ve not fed him special food, we don’t medicate him every time he vomits on the carpet, we’ve never put him in any kind of clothes except for our own entertainment (nothing is funnier than putting an arsehole dog with a superiority complex into a XXL tie-dye hoodie you picked up at the Sally Ann and watching his frantic, snooty thrashings as he attempts to both get out of the sweater and retain his dignity in the process. It’s a damned good evening).

It’s long been our family mantra that he’s being kept alive “purely by spite”, but after seeing him for the first time in a year and a half this summer, I began to develop a different theory.

What a sweetheart; what a cock.

I think he is a zombie operative, put into place to monitor my doings.

Which, if it is the case, would have to be an epic fail on the part of the Zombie Intelligence Agency, since I now live a continent and a half away from home. But that isn’t the point. The point is, I think my belligerent dog is now one of the undead.

Now, to be fair, most of my conjectures are based on the overwhelming stench of death that seems to be emanating from his animated, corpse-like body (particularly the mouth area), indicating that he is in fact rotting away. This decay would be concealed by the massive amount of fur this dude manages to produce – seriously, without frequent shavings he rapidly turns into the three-foot, canine equivalent of a pom-pom.

However, this smell, folks, is damned intense. Trying to give this dog a cuddle is, I imagine, exactly what it would be like to cuddle up to the undead – and not just in terms of odour. He’s liable to try and tear your innards out, too.

My heart stirs...

… On second thought, though, lookit that little face. He may be a zombie dog, but he’s my zombie dog, and it’s going to take a lot to get me to chop his head off with a shovel. He’s going to have to have a poo on my clean, ironed, folded laundry… again. Or, you know, piss on my foot… a couple more times… before I start to head to the tool shed.

And that, I am told, is the definition of true love…

Nardya Rousselot is one of the hottest new designers in SL. With a store in La Fortuna 1, Nardya offers to Costa Ricans unparalleled elegance with her evening and day wear.

Take, for example, this gorgeous dress from Nardya. With its lace, off-the-shoulder bodice with rouched textures, its slim, three attachment skirt, and its sexy undergarments, it’s quite a value. You can get several looks out of one folder.

Nardya includes two shorter skirts with the dress for a different look. And she has some sexy lingerie inside (including a baby doll top I don’t show in the photos).

Who would not feel beautiful knowing she is dressed so sexily underneath?

I dressed this up with a beautiful skin from Lorac Farella and cleavage enhancing jewelry from Alienbear Gupte. The flowers she has made for the pendant and earrings are exquisite. Sky Everett’s hair–what can I say? It’s the fantasy of everyone woman in SL to have hair like this. This style makes a romantic outfit complete.

Costa Rica Sims Productions will be hosting a fashion show for Nardcotix on Saturday, October 24, at 12 noon at with an after-party with DJ Azu. Come see more of Nardya’s beautiful work then.

There are some days that I like getting dressed out of my inventory as though it were a closet, pulling out pants, tops, etc vs just opening a folder and slapping everything ON.

Don’t get me wrong, the latter is EASIER, but I like wearing things together that were not intended as such – sometimes I have a lot more fun with it. Such as this outfit I wore roaming around the grid the other night.

This is one of my favotire casual short hair styles, from Diversity Hair, and I was feeing daffy so chose this whimsical color. The top is also from Diversity – from the MEN’S gift back from the Hair Fair. GIRLS – ALWAYS get the Men’s Gift bags! They almost always have cute short hair at the hair fair, and this time there were clothes!

This skin is another great example of why Frick will always be in the top 10 of my list of favorite skinners. Such fun and drama in the makeup while maintaining a very femme look. I think a lot of it is the delicate shading she does on the cheeks – no hooker streaks of blush here. SUCH a delicate hand at coloring – I love Frick’s variations of makeups.

I’m also sporting some new eyes and you guys know what a big deal that is to me. I AM DOGMATIC ABOUT MY EYES – and only Hart Larsson could persuade me out of my Poetic Color eyes to try out his new GLOW EYES. I’m wearing the color FATE. Hart – they are gorgeous!

posted by Gidge Uriza I shot so much when doing the shoot for this dress from Sascha’s Designs

posted by Gidge Uriza

I shot so much when doing the shoot for this dress from Sascha’s Designs – that I forgot what it was I was highlighting. The dress? The hair? The skin?

I couldn’t decide – there fore this post must be about them all.

The gorgeous ballgown is yet another brilliant offering from Sascha’s Designs, replete with a host of skirt options, shawl, jacket and top options that make purchasing just one color of this dress an outfit for several nights over. I chose to show you this beautiful peach because I was in a fall mood – but it comes in a rainbow of jewel tones that I can’t say enough about. They’re like candy.

As always the ballgown skirt option from Sascha has gorgeous movement – those of you who love the ballroom scene know how annoying it is to get a great big old gorgeous skirt that doesn’t move worth a damn- obviously no issue here!

For a more conservative look, yet no less elegant, you can add the jacket over a slimmer skirt. This seems more like an art gallery event, or live performance sort of attire. Very formal but just a bit more reserved than the gaiety of ballgown – don’t you think?

Skin -Elizabeth by Blowpop - Tone D - Graphite, Hair - Southern Belle by Exile

I want to rave a moment about this skin. Annyka Bekkers BLOWPOP skins are some of the most beautiful hand drawn skin on the grid. It’s a very adult and sultry look – classically beautiful and a very human countenance.

If you have not been to BLOWPOP or have not been lately, I insist you go and try on some Demos. Her work is absolutely lovely.

And the hair – seriously, you SEE the hair right? Run. Exile. Miss Southern Belle. I’m wearing Chimera.

Half way through a seminar on communication, I wondered what the speaker’s main argument was about c

Half way through a seminar on communication, I wondered what the speaker’s main argument was about communication between parents with their children and teachers with their students given their diversities in terms of religion, social classes, political beliefs etc. She mentioned, at one point, that teachers were in control in the classroom but that what goes beyond the classroom was beyond their control – something like force majeure. Then she went on to explain that parents, on the other hand, when they communicate with their children only remember their slips and blunders, but never, say, their good scholastic achievements. Meanwhile, the second speaker spoke on the power of negative language, which, I think, typing up the loose threads of the thesis statement of the seminar, invokes certain responses from people. Picking up snatches of her lecture with the help of the first speaker who translated bits and pieces of it in English, speaker number two gave five situations where the power of negativity spurred students to follow teachers. They are

• Conforming through the reward-punishment system

• Conforming through fear

• Conforming by thinking that teachers know better than they do

• Conforming because of a feeling of hopelessness

• Consistency

Like the first speaker, I wondered what her main argument was. Are the five situations good responses from the students? Or are they to be deconstructed? I never found out because the English translation of that part of her lecture never ensued. I – actually all of the teachers – found out her marital status. She’s single. [Aside: It’s an Indonesian thing to ask and announce one’s marital status. I talked about that in my earlier blog post “It’s a Cultural Thing”.]

I’ve always looked forward to seminars and conferences, encouraged by the thought I’d be walking away with new nuggets of wisdom, a widening of knowledge of the world from another viewpoint. It’s exasperating when I’m besieged by thoughts of reading, going for a foot reflexology and what to have for lunch and dinner almost halfway through the talk. I could have gotten up and left, but I didn’t want to be impolite.

*******************************************************************************************

Politeness is a strong trait of the Indonesians, which I’ve observed and have been told countless of times by people. So it’s truly a very disconcerting dilemma when I’m confronted by insolence. Shall I put that inconsequential person in her shoes and give her an earful? Or do I follow the dictates of being a guest of Indonesia? My friend made the decision for me and filliped her verbally a wee bit, which, thankfully, silenced her moronic babbling.

It happened one late afternoon at our regular DVD store at CyberPark shopping center. I was looking for a DVD of Troy; the owner of the store told me to come back after a week when the stocks would have come in by then. After handing me the DVD, she started talking in Bahasa Indonesia, which my scanty knowledge of the language couldn’t decipher. Sadly for her, my friend understood every word. Apparently, as translated to me, she was asking why we three were there; why we didn’t speak in Bahasa Indonesia; why were we always buying DVDs and why was I wanting to buy a DVD of Troy, which she pointed out condescendingly, couldn’t be understood by my students since it was in English.

“We are not Indonesians,” said my friend in an uncharacteristic low and serious tone. “We buy DVDs because we like to buy them. She’s an English teacher and her students will understand Troy because they understand English and they’re smart kids.”

She was quiet but her face belied a look of irritation. Petulant child was what came to mind and petulance and impudence in my book negate the ethics of being a guest in a foreign country. The next time I come I know better than to be polite.

****************************************************************************************

Walking barefoot is something I’ve never been comfortable with unless I’m on some beach in Bali. After all, the sand is as closest as one can get to natural exfoliation. The other one is when I’m practicing yoga. Naturally, I wear boots and heels to work; flats, trainers or sneakers on the weekends; and slippers inside the house. The practice of removing shoes when visiting friends and relatives is not widely observed in the Philippines unlike in Singapore. We simply wipe our shoes on the mat outside the house before entering. In Singapore, you literally leave your shoes at the entrance and walk around the house barefoot, a custom never grew on me because the floors are cold but, out of politeness, I followed the rules.

In Indonesia, shoes are left at the open shoe cabinet when you’re entering the library and when you’re entering the meeting room. However, shoes are worn at all times in all other places of the school. I learnt that it’s less a custom than the library and the meeting room being carpeted. Still, out of politeness, I follow the rules.

However, it’s the reverse with students when they enter my classroom (am not sure if they do it in other classes and are allowed to do it). My reactions have vacillated between annoyance and astonishment and back, but never tolerance of such coarse behavior. Some don’t wear their shoes properly, slipping them on like regular flip flops even though they’re trainers. They proceed to take them off in class, cooling their socked feet under their deskswith the air conditioner. They seem annoyed at being told to wear their shoes; they slip them on for show and then take them off again when they think I’m not looking.

In my book of civility, your shoes remain on your feet unless you’re in your own home.

****************************************************************************************

Wet markets are not lacking in Bekasi, Indonesia. The first one I normally frequented is as fragrant as any wet market, smelling of fish and brine. In this “new” market I explored one time, the air was redolent with putrid garbage yet no one was covering their noses. The vendors were not bothered by the smell and looked completely inured to the smell wafting through the night air. Luckily, it’s an outdoor night market and so the smell was dissipated with the occasional night breeze. Still, unlike the vendors, I was not far from pinching my nose to stay the disgusting odor. But, guided by the dictates of civility, I bore it until it was time to leave.

Being polite is really difficult work.

First, let me say that this is a rare unfreckled skin feature. Shocking, I know, but I was lured by the sultry beauty of Siren. This girl is seriously smoulderingly hot.

Siren is part of Adam n Eve’s new generation of skins, and she’s truly stunning. While Portia focused on the lighter skin tone range, the new Siren shows us sultrier darker tones. Like all Adam n Eve skins, Siren is available in four skin tones, pictured below, from a not-quite-light-skinned shade through caramels to a rich mocha shade.

The shading of the face has a certain exotic quality to it. While I’m wearing a modified version of my usual shape with slightly plumper lips here, you can imagine how well the skin would lend itself to more ethnic shapes and looks.

The Siren skin shares the same body shading as her sister skin Portia, though of course the highlights and shadows have been adjusted to flatter each skin tone particularly, as you can see above. The collarbones, breasts, elbows, spine, buttocks, and knees are all flawless, and the overall shading of the body really helps to lend three-dimensionality to the figure.

Now, a few words about the makeups. Each purchase includes two makeup shades — above you can see the Natural/Natural sheen set and the Berry/Cherry set, both shown in tone 3. In addition, each makeup includes a bald skin and a hair base skin; I’m wearing the latter in the picture above. A total of 16 different makeup sets are available.

I also went out and took several on-location shots of Siren, and totally thought about covering the feeds with lots of giant pics, but I decided to take it easy on you and just show mini versions, above. Please feel free to click through to Flickr for the larger versions.

I’m wearing Madsy’s lovely Peplum skirt (creator Kimberlee Miles), which has a really awesome use of the system skirt with the black halter vest from fri.day (tinted slightly darker to match the skirt). With that I’m wearing the white Dietrich shirt and tie from Lelutka (of which I honestly don’t know if they are still available) and Insolence’s Lea fishnet stockings (from the cat suit set). The rose earrings are from LaGyo. and the wide waist belt is from fri.day (seriously, belts like that are fatpack material, you can combine it with every outfit, so getting all the colours is worth the investment). The walking cane (and pose) comes with Anamations Cane A.O

I’m wearing Dutch Touch Cleo Cream Pip2, Chai’s pretty brown eyes and Atomic’s Gwen hair.

It has been well established that my love of lingerie knows no bounds, so it should not come as a shock to learn how excited I get when I see an offline inventory offer from Camilla Yosuke of Insolence. It is one of the few times I feel like I am in a rush to get home and log in so I can see the wonderful newness she has created. The newest set, Isabel, does not disappoint. In fact, I will go so far as to say I think this is one of her best pieces.

Isabel can be worn two different ways: as a long camisole or as a simple bra and panty set.

I prefer the long camisole; it has such a soft feminity to it that’s hard to resist. The texture is gorgeous and, according to the notecard that came with the review copies, was inspired by the coming colors of Fall with a tinge of longing for the summer that has just passed. Hand painted flowers embroider the sheerest black tulle that Camilla works with so well. It’s obvious she put a lot of time and love into this creation. It comes in several color options, all of them rich and vibrant. I’m wearing red here, but I have to say that the Amber and Violet versions are also absolutely lovely. I love the back of this set as well– more sensual than sexy I think.

I chose the Jenelle hair by Dernier Cri for this look and colored it a vibrant red to match the embroidery of the lingerie. It just felt like it needed a longer hairstyle, and this is probably one of the longest I own. I also love the way it shapes my face. The skin and eyes are from ::Exodi::, as always, and the eyelashes are from Beauty Avatar. I still don’t have them fit completely right, but I begin to wonder if that is even possible. Time will tell as I drive myself crazy moving them around constantly.

Oh, and we must not forget THE shoes. The shoes are from Maitreya Gold, of course. I can’t take these Shanti shoes off, so for this set I chose the Cherry, and I think it worked well. For jewelry, I wanted something sparkly but not too formal, so I went with the Tiffany set from ~flirt~. It sports diamonds and rubies but is not so formal as to be heavy. I think it matched this set perfectly.

I shot these photos in the loft above our studio, and that wonderful red modern puff I’m resting on in the last photo is from Lost Angel. I love that series of pose props because they come in several colors, and each one has a ton of different poses in it. Very versatile piece of furniture.

If you’re in the market for new lingerie, and really why would you not be, check out the newest release from Insolence. Isabel is a gorgeous set and comes in several Fall inspired colors. I can’t think of a better way to welcome the new season.

When you believe sun will stay forever, sun goes away. We had such a rain I have had to put everything back inside..including myself. Temperature dropped so much I even lighted the fireplace several days.
So I found myself again in my beloved sofa’s arms, wrapped in a wide english blanket, trying to think what we will wear when fall really installs.

Inspired by the fire colors of the trees outside, but still nostalgic of the blossom times, I imaginated this new set, mixing rich fall tones flowers embroidry, with that sweetest sheer tulle I always loved to work with.

This turned out in a delicate, intricated and elegant lingerie ensemble, that kind of set you don’t want to wear as underwear, but as a light night dress, to reveal your body under a caress of seduction, pride and nostalgy.

The Isabel ensembles includes a long open tulle camisole, a simple rigged bra, matching panties and seamed stockings, all of which share the same delicate flower pattern, embroided in the richest tones for the coming fall :

Lets begin by the most symbolic tone, Amber, this was the first that came to me, watching the trees outside:

Amethyst for the emotive minded (Top left)
Royal in Aquamarine (Top right)
Forestal in Emerald (Bottom left)
Hot as Lava in Ruby (Bottom right)

And for those who can’t wait for an icy feeling, in Silver

Maybe I will repeat myself, but all these come with every layers possible, so that you can proudly wear it above your tattoos, or mix it with day clothes if you dare
Talking about this, there is still a little glitch in SL that makes that if you wear this kind of clothing as underpants/undershirt, or as pants/shirt, there is a tiny line of texture missing in the hip sides region. This is not due to my texturing , but to the SL viewer way to draw textures on avatars. As a workaround, I included a Jacket version of the long camisole, on which the problem does not appear. Think about this if you want perfect appearence or if you shoot pictures !

With this set I tried to keep alive the great pleasure of working with high quality in mind, chasing all details and enjoying every moment of hand painting flowers, for your best pleasure and satisfaction, I hope you will feel the sincere love I put in these pieces.

The Isabel Sets are now available at the INSOLENCE store on LE LOOK! sim.

With all my thanks for your continued support and wonderful feedback,

Kind regards,
