AMRAVATI: A police sub inspector, presently posted at Akola Control Room, shot himself with his service revolver in the wee hours of Thursday at Amravati.

According to information from the police department, the deceased PSI has been identified as Amol Datir (42), a resident of Jagriti Colony in Amravati. He had been posted to Akola Control Room some time back. PSI Datir was an intelligent officer, his fellow officers have said. He had completed his MSc and then passed the MPSC exam in the first attempt in 1995.

On Wednesday night, at around 1.50am, Datir shot himself with his service revolver and died on the spot. Sources said that he had a dispute with his wife, who had lodged a complaint against him in 2006 at Akola police station. After this complaint, offences had been registered against PSI Datir under 498 section of IPC. It is also learnt that his wife had filed a case against him and demanded alimony from him. The hearing in this case was scheduled on Thursday.

Datir had been under tremendous tension after his wife lodged the complaint against him, as she had also levelled allegations against Datir’s family members also. Sources also said that Datir had been suffering from peptic ulcer since many days and had been on leave for the last three months. It is conjectured that Datir took the extreme step due to tremendous pressure on him.

Gadge Nagar police have registered offences under relevant sections of IPC and are probing the matter further.

When the time for a final walkthrough inspection of the home you’re purchasing arrives, most will welcome assistance! This inspection should not be confused with an engineer home inspection which is conducted right after offer acceptance. Below is a checklist of items to be checked by you and your Westchester County Buyers Agent.

General

1) Have all agreed upon repairs been completed?
2) Have the sellers removed any items that are supposed to stay in the home?
3) Is the home clean and/or broom swept?
4) Are there any signs of new damage to walls, floors, etc?
5) Do all light fixtures work?
6) If an agreed upon fixture was removed is there at least a “contractor grade” replacement?
7) Does every outlet have power? Are there any leaking pipes, faucets, or toilets?
9) Do all The toilets flush?
10) Does the garage door opener work?
11) Do the locks work?
12) Do all the appliances work?
13) If new construction, are all the agreed upon finishing touches in?

HVAC

1) Test the furnace and air conditioning system…please note that a central air compressor cannot be tested in the freezing cold weather. Please consult an HVAC expert for more info.
2) Check to make sure vents aren’t blocked?

The final walkthrough process is a fairly casual one and should be conducted the night before or hours before the closing. If there are any issues that need to be addressed your Buyers Agent can approach the Listing Agent and arrange to have the items either credited or negotiated. In my experience everything can be worked out as long as both parties are open minded. Now enjoy the Real Estate you have purchased and will now call home!

Once a buyer and seller are under contract for the purchase of a home, there is an inspection period

Once a buyer and seller are under contract for the purchase of a home, there is an inspection period in which the buyer has the right to either go through the property themselves or hire an inspector to look at the property, although I would always advise a client to hire an inspector because they are the professionals when it comes to home inspections and this is probably the single largest investment of anyone’s lives.

The purpose of an inspection is to determine the condition of the property, educate and look for:

Serious Deficiencies

Replacement or Repair Items

Age and Life Expectancy of Major Components

Maintenance and Safety Information

Positive Aspects of the Home

So what about the furnace? This is a major system in the house and should be taken seriously, especially when buying a used home.

When the inspector gets to the furnace, he’ll look for items such as gas connections, exhaust venting, any leaks, electrical wiring, the age, the blower motor, check the filter, look at the flame, and run the furnace to make sure it operates correctly. A general rule of thumb is 15 years for the life expectancy for a furnace. Regardless of the age here’s where my word of CAUTION occurs. Make sure your inspector will not only inspect the furnace, but CERTIFY the condition of the furnace and if they won’t, find an inspector who will or have a licensed HVAC company certify the furnace. A lot of inspectors don’t want the liability of certifying the furnace and some just don’t know how.

There is one major component to be aware of in a furnace and that is the HEAT EXCHANGER. The heat exchanger is basically a metal plate that is heated up with the flames and once it gets to a certain temperature the blower starts and moves the air past the plate which warms the air and thus heats your house. The air movement and flames are on different sides of this plate. That plate is continuously heated and cooled which stresses it over time. What can happen is cracks can develop and this can pass carbon monoxide into the house. These cracks can be hard to see, but you must determine this! It can mean replacing the furnace. For the buyer, if this isn’t noticed they might find themselves replacing the furnace the first winter and for the seller, this may mean the difference between making or losing the sale.

Don’t get caught in the furnace trap; certify that everything works properly and don’t leave anything unknown.

The inspector decides to give Tom a pop quiz, asking: “What would you do if you realized that two trains were heading towards each other on the same track?”

Tom says: “I would switch one train to another track.”

“What if the lever broke?” asks the inspector.

“Then I’d run down to the tracks and use the manual lever down there”, answers Tom.

“What if that had been struck by lightning?” challenges the inspector.

“Then,” Tom continued, “I’d run back up here and use the phone to call the next signal box.”

“What if the phone was busy?”

“In that case,” Tom argued, “I’d run to the street level and use the public phone near the station”.

“What if that had been vandalized?”

“Oh well,” said Tom, “in that case I would run into town and get my Uncle Leo”.

This puzzled the inspector, so he asked, “Why would you do that?”

“Because he’s never seen a train crash.”

It was really a shock. My brother missing!
I was in Dubai, where I was working for a multinational company, who refused to extend my visa. I was actually contemplating returning to my home in Keralam; so I hurried home by the first available flight.
We have a fairly big farm in the forest near Kottayam, which was bought by my brother long ago, when I was a mere child. He is some fifteen years elder to me, and was more like a father to me. I was somewhat uneasy in his presence. We have a maid of my age. This Bhagy was my play mate and whenever I needed anything, I would tell her. She is quite mature for her years and my brother listened to her positively; I think he admired her.
Our estate was one third rubber, another half rice fields and the remaining portion a cow farm. I won’t call it a dairy farm, because it was just a cow shed. My brother who loved cows, planted coconut trees in this area, where cows could graze freely and fertilise the soil. I knew nothing about the estate or its management, as I was interested only in my studies.
Our mother died when I was four years old. Bhagy later told me she was suffering from cancer.
As soon as I entered the estate, Jose, our senior manager, told me about it. They saw him last on the evening of Chrismus, when my brother had enjoyed a few pegs with them. He was quite sober and well when he left, carrying his torch as was his habit. The torch was found near well by the church, but there was no trace of my brother, even though the workers, numbering around fifty, searched far and wide.
Bhagy started crying when she saw me. I felt embarassed, as she was a vivaciou child, ready to laugh without any cause. Now she is no more a child, looked handsome even, with her big eyes, full of tears. I enjoyed her laugh, not this serious face. Of course, the matter is grave.
She brought idli and coconut chatney, which I liked very much. I was hungry like a wolf and ate whatever she had brought.
Some more?, she enquired and her old brightness reappeared. I was pleased.
Jose came and started explaining about the affairs of the estate. I cut him short: I like to see the accounts. Jose threw up his hands. I just manage the estate, don’t know anything about accounts. My brother never went to a school. Bhagy, who had studied up to ninth standard, showed me a fat note book, recording money transactions, a cash book. When I asked about our debtors and creditors, she blinked. What are they?
I dismissed both and went to my room.
My brother did not like spending money on house or furniture. We had a very old mud house and nothing to sit on. Jose had managed to make an improvised bed for me, with some planks fixed on supports of bricks. For a chair, there was a small stool (that is what we call here). I noted down the items requiring immediate attention, now that the responsibility rests on my shoulders.
I had brought enough money, as I was not asked to send any money home. My service for the last ten years was enough for building a terrace house and starting a real dairy farm, based on modern concept. I intended to have a fish farm as well.
At night, when I was about to sleep I heard a rustling noise. Bhagy now? I called aloud, as it was quite dark. The sound was heard again. I could smell something like the sweaty body of my brother, but did not feel any fear. Bhagy slept in a far corner of the house. My brother did not marry.
I dozed off. When I woke up, I saw a dark shadow, darker than the night, a denser, solidified darkness; who is it? No reply. As the shadow moved, I followed, as if hypnotised. We reached a well near the church, when I could hear the distinct sound of the shadow jumping into the well, and I lost cosciousness.
I was sitting, at the same spot, surrounded by people who had come, searching for me. I COULD NOT ANSWER THEIR QUESTIONS.
When I was alone, I told Bhagy. She listened attentively, without any comment. Suddenly, she started crying and fell on my shoulder. I patted her back and tried to console her. After some time she regained her composure, wiped her eyes and returned to her work.
I noticed this change in her and wanted to help her.
The next night, the shadow reappeared, stood very near to me and told me to search the well. Bhagy is carrying my child, you should adopt her as your wife: this meesage was transmitted to me, as if by a super power.
When it became day, I told Bhagy everything about the well, but nothing about her pregnancy. She agreed that there is nothing wrong in searching the well.
So Jose and myself, accompanied by a handful of work men, went and examined the well by inserting a rope weighed by a stone, as they were afraid to go into the well. After some time, the rope struck some stone or other hard substance. A brave fellow, after enough pegs of a strong stuff, entered the well and brought a body which began to decompose. The police was informed and they filed an FIR. IT WAS MY BROTHER.
I told the police inspector, that I want a proper investigation of the case, come what may.
At home, both Jose and Bhagy continued to manage the estate as before, but I started keeping the acconts of the estate, separate from the house hold expenses. In my laptop I maintained a profit and loss account, though I did not know much about these things.
Bhagy rarely came to me. She was too busy, like an experienced matron. I was used to seeing her only as a carefree, boyish child, ready to pull my tails and make fun of me. In a way, I think, I didn’t like the change in her.
One or two months passed. The workmen started digging the foundation of my house, for which I had engaged a qualified Civil Engineer, as I will not be able to pay atention to it, as I was busy with my estate.
Bhagy came to me and told that she wants to go home. Go where? I shouted. She started crying. I was sorry. I went to her and pulled her towards me.
Bhagy, do you think I will be able to manage without you? How this home came, after all these years? Where is it?
She kept mum, looking the other way, avoiding my gaze.
I am not well, she told, at last.
Ok. Today itself we go to see the Doctor. A lady doctor, she corrected.
After examintion, the doctor came out smiling; I didn’t know you are married. Congratulations!
I suddenly remembered what I heard from the “ghost”, my brother. I said, thank you doctor.
On our way home, Bhagy started crying. I did not stop her. I allowed her to cry and lighten her heart.
She began: It was that Chrismas party. When he came, he was fully drunk. Pulled my cloths off and pinned my legs with his powerful knees……..
I stopped her, covering her mouth, with my hand.
You are innocent. This child in your womb is innocent. Our love is unshakable. We will get married in a week. Only our staff will be invited.

She looked at me in disbelief.
How can I say what the ghost had told me ?

As a property investor, property purchases are likely less emotional and more logical than they are

As a property investor, property purchases are likely less emotional and more logical than they are for the average real estate buyer. Even if you’re looking at property investment from a business-minded point of view, though, it’s still possible to overlook some critical factors when it comes to making property investment decisions. With that in mind, below you’ll find some tips for making sure you take care of due diligence before purchasing your next investment property.

For the most part, due diligence can be summed up in one word: Inspection. Nothing stands to save you as much money and headache down the line as contracting a professional inspector to come in and look over a property before escrow closes. Your real estate agent will almost surely have inspector recommendations, but you may also want to check the American Society of Home Inspectors. This organization provides a built-in system of checks and balances since all members must pass exams and meet basic standards. Of course, you’ll still want to call a reference or two—after all, a bad inspection can potentially cost you thousands of dollars down the line.

Have the inspection done after you’ve made an offer and make sure your agent builds in a contingency to let you off the hook should an inspection turn up any troubling information. While you can have an inspection done prior to making an offer, remember that you will have to pay for an inspector, so it may not be the most financially desirable decision.

Prior to the inspection, request a disclosure from the seller. This is meant to alert you to any forthcoming problems that may not yet be detectable through a basic inspection. Try to obtain this information prior to the inspection so that your inspector can carefully examine areas that may pose potential hazards or issues in the near future. Remember, however, that disclosures are not foolproof as sellers may not even be aware of some looming issues.

Now that it’s time for the actual inspection, make sure that your general inspector thoroughly completes all of the following:

Check for structural issues (this includes the roof, plumbing, foundation, and pest damage).

Check for any heating or electricity issues.

Check drainage.

Some inspectors check for pest issues, while others do not. If you choose an inspector that does not check for pest control, you would be wise to have a second contractor in to take a look. You will want this inspector to not only look for pests and termites, but also fungus and dry rot.

Also keep in mind, you may not be done after just one inspection; other specialized inspectors may be necessary as well. For example, if the general inspector finds roof hazards, consider bringing a roof specialist in to let you know exactly what you’re looking at. Additionally, to avoid environmental hazards that could potentially cost you big time down the line, bring in an environmental health hazard specialist to check for things like mold, lead, and asbestos.

When all is said and done, ideally you will not find any major problems, let alone a deal-breaker. If your inspection does turn up problems that will need to be addressed, you can negotiate with the seller, who may agree to make certain repairs or lower the property’s selling price. And if you do find a deal breaker, as unfortunate as it may seem at the time, rest assured that the price you’ve paid on inspections has likely saved you thousands down the line.

So, it’s getting very close to Halloween, and Sarah Buckley and I have been trying to decide on costumes to wear… I’m going to dress up as something really spooky, like a zombie, or a vampire, or maybe that inspector that showed up at our school the other day…

Ok, I know inspectors are supposed to be scary and all, but this one took the biscuit! She came into class looking like someone from the Matrix movies, wearing shades even though it’s dark at like, four o’clock these days. AND she had this freaky crow tattoo on her hand – you don’t have to tell me twice that this is definitely another clue in the mystery! So I googled “What do crow tattoos mean?” and LOOK what I found!

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_do_crow_tattoos_mean

On this one it means “Transporters of souls”, but on the next page I checked, it says it means “Revival, and God’s messenger”:

http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:ttsX6KtAXGQJ:www.articlealley.com/article_65426_34.html+crow+tattoo+meaning&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ie

What am I supposed to believe? I need someone to help me decide!

And that’s not even the spookiest part - as soon as the inspector arrived in the class, Jamie Crowe vanished!

Poof!

Gone!

Not even a goodbye or a cloud of smoke left behind – he was just … gone. I can hardly sleep tonight, that’s why I’m writing to you secret diary. I can’t wait for school tomorrow to see if he will be in.

So, this week is “National Tidy Schools Week” at St.Ferdia’s. Mr.Rhatigan has picked out poor Hollie Fitch to go to school on Saturday to do weeding( Hmph…that’s what they call “volunteering” these days?) Now, I’m not Hollie’s biggest fan, but the thought of someone on their own in that school all weekend has got me thinking…

What if anything strange happens there and no-one’s around? I hope Mr.Rhatigan will be there with Hollie. But, in fairness we all know how ditzy he can be – what if he goes to get coffee – gets distracted by something shiny and wanders off for ages(believe me, it happens a lot )?

Think about it, Hollie Fitch, all on her own in spooky St.Ferdia’s. If anything strange is going to happen it’s bound to happen then…

I’ll have to go warn Hollie, tell her everything I’ve seen, before it’s too late! Who knows, she could disappear like Jamie Crowe did!!!

I wish someone would tell me what’s going on???
