When Google Chrome first came out for Windows, people were hacking .dll files to change the theme. Now, with theme support, many still find they can’t reliably switch between installed themes, but have to install them again from the download page. This is certainly true of the Linux version (at least in Ubuntu), as the Extensions page tells you none are installed.

I’ve seen talk from Windows users of finding all the installed themes in an extensions folder, but currently in the Linux version you will not only find that there is no .crx file (the extension of the themes) belonging to this program to be found anywhere, but no file at all with the name/prefix of the installed theme.

When you choose to install a theme, it gets downloaded as usual, but then disappears from your ~/Downloads folder once it is installed.

So the way around this is not to click any Install buttons, but to right-click them and choose “Save Link As“. Then just save each desired theme where you can easily find them all, like a new folder called ~/Downloads/Google Chrome Themes. Note that if you’re at a gallery page with previews of lots of themes, you’ll need to go to each theme’s page and right-click the Install button there (otherwise you’ll be downloading .html web pages, not a .crx themes).

Once you’ve downloaded some, all you need to do is drag one and drop it anywhere on Google Chrome. You will see a confirmation appear at the bottom left, so click the Continue button to proceed with changing the theme.

days site -bulk email marketing script. After the release of IE8 Beta, so diverse people are severe

days site -bulk email marketing script.

After the release of IE8 Beta, so diverse people are severe to download it, install it, see how it performs and what improvements has to beat its rivals and its earlier versions. But, more and more people find it more like a headaache than an real effective pawn because of surfing. Thanks to it, you cannot access online bank account; Many plugins needed for ASP.net programs cannoot be installed properly, etc. So eventually, like to have it removed completely. But you will find it smidgin debatable to uninstall IE8 Beta since it does not appear in the Add/Remove Programs. Forcibly deleeting manually could precipitate unexpected malfunction your system. If you want to correctly uninstall IE8 Beta, appropriate the steps as below:

Make sure the IE8 has been installed in its default directory, check Add/Remove programs list, if you see “Windows Internet Explorer 8″, click and remove it. Unfortunately, people bump into uncover nothing in the list regarding IE8 because what they have installeed is IE8 1, which is commonly installed a behaviour of system update. In this example, ticket the checkbox of “display update” right above the list of “Current installed programs and updates” in Add/Remove Programs, every update minutes about 8, cross out them all. This is by far the perfect way to uninstall IE8 and let your IE “scroll back” to its earlier rendition. Remember to restart your computer, of course.

Click Start->Run, type C:e8puninstpuninst.exe. Run this official uninstall program in Safe Mode if you find errors when applying “vaunt update” uninstall. In most situatiions this character can get IE8 quiet your organization.

Finally, you end up with unsuccessful uninstall, an annoying cue appear saying that you already have a higher version of IE and your system refuses to initiate the establishment of earlier version of IE. To deal with it, is a small ttrick to “deeceive” the system: Reinstall IE8. Click Start->Run, type Regedit to open Reegistry Editor, find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHHINE/SOFTWARRE/Microsoft/Actiive Setup/Installed Components/{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}hard cashexchange the key value of DWOD from isInstalled to 0. Also feel HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/ActiveSetup/Installed Components /{ 44BBA840 -CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}, change the cue value of DWOD from isInstalled to 0. Then trot the IE install program of any version, you may at this very moment proceed.

The creative team at Badec Bros Deco was recently commissioned to manufacture a stainless steel, cascading water feature for a client. Firstly, we created seven Cubedec B pots – troughs – in varying dimensions from grade 304 stainless steel.

The stainless steel sheets were folded and welded together along a single seam line, to create a flawless overall appearance. Once all of the troughs were manufactured, we installed the water feature on site, with the lowest trough being filled with black pebbles.

We can also manufacture this stunning water feature from mild steel and finish it in one of three finishes, namely: a mild steel finish, rusted finish and powder coating finish. There are literally hundreds of different colours to choose from for your powder coating finish and this finish is SABS approved. Our Cubedec water features can be customized to any size and shape. As our CEO, Edrich Badenhorst likes to say; “The sky is not the limit.”

Please feel free to contact us with your ideas and we will be sure to bring them to fruition. We love a creative challenge!

Eight ATVMs to be installed at Thane station
Asadullah Hanfi , TNN 2 October 2009, 05:17am IST
The Central Railway (CR) administration has decided to take some effective steps to meet the ticket purchase related needs of the Thane
commuters. The authorities have decided to provide All time Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) at the station to ease the queues of commuters lined up before the ticket booking offices.

The CR took the decision after a visit to the station premise by officials of the commercial department of the CR last week. The officials inspected the ticket windows as well as other ticket selling systems at the station to come to the conclusion that the existing system of sale of tickets was not as effective as it should be considering the rising number of railway commuters at the station.

The railway officials decided to provide eight ATVMs at the station to ease the woes of commuters in purchasing railway tickets for their destinations. As per the proposal five of the machines are to be installed in the west side of the station and three in the east. The eight state of the art machines would be provided within the next few weeks.

The need for the machines was felt after the 22 ticket selling windows at the station became insufficient to meet the demands of the commuters. The windows have been connected to the Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) under which suburban train tickets as well as season tickets (monthly passes) and tickets of long distance trains are sold at the same counter through computers.

Notably the maximum number of commuters is suburban commuters who want to purchase suburban journey tickets only. As a result commuters wishing to purchase tickets for their journey on the suburban section have to wait for hours in queues to get the tickets due to presence of purchasers of passes and long distance tickets in the queues.

This results in long queues of commuters before each of the ticket selling counters. Only a handful of the commuters use coupons or smart cards to purchase their tickets and their number makes no difference to the queues in front of the booking windows.

The CR administration had provided ten ATVMs at the station in the past. if the eight new machines are provided then the number of ATVMs at the station would go up to 18 and tend to ease the purchase of tickets to some extent.

Even though the CR is thinking of easing the purchase of tickets through the eight ATVMs, the step may not pay off as expected. There is general apprehension amongst the commuters that the ticket selling machines often fail and their money is lost in the transaction. The local CR officials often have to ire of such commuters.

It may be noted that around three to four lakh railway commuters use the station every day including almost 20,000 on the Thane Vashi railway link alone. The station earns revenue of around Rs 40 lakh per day from the sale of tickets, season tickets as well as tickets of long distance trains. Despite the huge daily revenue the CR had been unable to provide more ticket counters thereby prompting angry protests from the commuters.

LUDHIANA: To find alternative sources of energy, everybody is on the lookout for better options. As such, solar power equipments are picking up
fast as apart from several government departments, private institutions are also coming forward for the same.

Joining the list of new entrants are the railway authorities, who have also started installing solar equipments in railway running rooms, hospitals and even at crossings, where solar lamps were being used. This has helped them to get rid of kerosene lamps which were being earlier used.

According to information, the authorities have installed solar geysers in railway running rooms at Amritsar and Jalandhar, whereas the running room at the city station is presently under construction where solar geysers would be installed.

Sources in the railway department revealed that authorities are also planning to install solar lights by replacing the existing streetlights at the station and in railway colonies.

Earlier, it was the duty of the gatekeeper at the railway crossings to light the kerosene lamps, but now the authorities have installed solar lamps which will get charged during the day and provide light during the night hours.

While talking to the TOI, divisional railway manager Satish Chander said, “We had started installing solar geysers on an experimental basis but now we are getting a positive response and have decided to expand it at other places.”

He said they would now install solar lights at railway crossings and city railway station, while the running room for guards and drivers was under construction where they would also install solar geysers like it had been done at Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ferozepur.

Discussing the issue, Rajinder Singh joint director Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) said, “The demand for solar equipments has increased manifold. We have forwarded a demand to the Centre for 500-kilowatt power plants which are being demanded by various private institutions across the state.”

Some users have been asking how to reinstall Fink. This might be necessary when there isn’t an

Some users have been asking how to reinstall Fink. This might be necessary when there isn’t an upgrade path — for instance, there’s no upgrade path from 32-bit Fink to 64-bit Fink, or when trying to replicate a Fink installation from one architecture (e.g. PowerPC, 32-bit Intel) to another (e.g. 64-bit Intel). This text explains how to save the list of installed packages and their configuration files in order to conveniently reinstall them on a clean Fink installation. Bear in mind that packages in one platform may not be available on another. For example, some packages are only available for PowerPC, and 64-bit Fink has (at the moment) fewer packages than on 32-bit Intel, 32-bit Fink.

Note: if you’re not sure how to execute the commands listed below on a terminal window, contact someone that’s more familiar with Unix and shells.

Preamble: Understanding virtual packages

Virtual packages are placeholders for packages or features that are present on your system but haven’t necessarily been installed by Fink itself. Some of them are system virtual packages, representing files that are shipped with the system (e.g. system-java, system-perl), whilst others may represent files installed by either Fink (e.g. pdftex) or the user (e.g. growl). Some of these virtual packages do not actually refer to files on your system. For example, the 64bit-cpu virtual package is just an indication that the system has a 64-bit processor. At any rate, virtual packages are managed by Fink and you can’t run commands fink install or fink remove on them.

Listing installed packages

Fink provides a handy command to list installed packages:

fink list --installed

or

fink list -i

for short. This command outputs a human-readable list of packages that are considered to be installed on your system, including packages you’ve installed yourself, their dependencies, and virtual packages. The following command trims virtual packages off this list:

fink list -i | grep -v " p " | grep -v "\["

We may use the -t flag and the cut command to get a nice list of installed packages that doesn't include virtual packages:

fink list -it | grep -v " p " | grep -v "\[" \
| cut -f2

In order to save this list to a file (e.g. instpkgs.txt) for further reference, use the command

fink list -it | grep -v " p " | grep -v "\[" \
| cut -f2 > instpkgs.txt

Saving configuration files

If you're planning on removing your entire /sw folder then you should consider saving your configuration files. Fink's configuration file is /sw/etc/fink.conf. Packages may also place configuration files under /sw, usually under but not limited to /sw/etc (on my system there are package configuration files under /sw/etc, sw/lib, and /sw/var).

The following command lists the configuration files of every package in instpkgs.txt as created in the previous section, saving the list in conffiles.txt:

cat instpkgs.txt | xargs fink dumpinfo -fconffiles \
| sed "s/^conffiles: //;s/^[ \t]*//" | tr " " "\n" \
| sort | uniq > conffiles.txt

Browse through this list and backup the configuration files you want to keep (don’t forget to write their original location down). Some of them don’t need to be backed up (e.g. /sw/etc/passwd-fink). If you want to know which package installed a certain configuration file (e.g. /sw/etc/pkgconffile.conf), run the following command:

dpkg -S /sw/etc/pkgconffile.conf

Please note that if you’re changing from a 32-bit Fink installation to a 64-bit Fink installation then it is possible that old configuration files won’t work on the new installation. As this is particular to each package there’s no general solution for it. If you’re changing from one OS X version to another, or from 32-bit Fink to 64-bit Fink, it is also possible that your old fink.conf won’t work on the new installation, especially the Distribution and SelfUpdateTrees entries. You’re better off using your old fink.conf as a guide when answering the questions asked by Fink during installation/bootstrapping or when running the

fink configure

command.

Local packages

If you’ve created local packages under /sw/fink/dists/local, don’t forget to backup them up. You probably won’t need to keep the binaries so it should be safe to keep only the package descriptions and patches; those are usually under /sw/fink/dists/local/main/finkinfo.

Removing Fink

Every file installed by Fink is under the /sw folder, so running the following command will wipe out your Fink installation:

sudo rm -rf /sw

Well, not exactly. Fink also places convenient shortcuts under /Applications/Fink for packages that are application bundles (those special folders whose name end with .app). If you use the fink remove command to remove a package that provides an application bundle then the equivalent shortcut is removed. However, if you simply remove the /sw folder, the shortcuts won’t get removed, so you might want to do that yourself.

Depending on how you’ve installed Fink or if you’ve run the pathsetup shell script, you might have a line resembling

test -r /sw/bin/init.sh && . /sw/bin/init.sh

in your $HOME/.profile shell initialisation script (or the equivalent command/file for csh, tcsh). The line above can be left there if you’re planning on reinstalling Fink. It is also harmless to leave if there if Fink is not installed.

Installing Fink

Follow the installation instructions on Fink’s Web site. Recall that at the moment there is no binary installer for OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard, so you need to use the source installation from version 0.29.9 or higher.

Reinstalling the packages

You may use the instpkgs.txt created in the Listing installed packages section. The following shell script reads that file, line by line, and runs Fink’s installation command on each package:

cat instpkgs.txt | while read pkg
do
 fink install $pkg
done

Note that if you’re using sudo then this shell script will ask your password every now and then. You might want to save the whole script to a file (e.g. reinstall.sh) and run it with sudo (e.g. sudo ./reinstall.sh).

As some of the packages in instpkgs.txt are dependencies of other packages it is quite probable that you’ll get some No packages to install warnings which may safely be ignored — they mean that the command above is trying to install a package that’s already been installed. If a package is not available on your new installation, you’ll get Failed: no package found for specification errors.

You may also want to restore the configuration files you’ve saved. Remember that if you’ve changed from one platform to another there might be differences in the configuration files. Whenever possible, use the application itself to enter the configuration, using the old (backed up) configuration file as a guide.

If you’ve backed up your local packages, restore them to /sw/fink/dists/local and run

fink index

so that Fink becomes (once again) aware of them.

So far, Windows XP and Linux have been the only two OSes to be used in a large scale in the netbook

So far, Windows XP and Linux have been the only two OSes to be used in a large scale in the netbook market, with only a few manufacturers foolishly choosing Windows Vista and then getting their efforts rewarded with a slap around the face. It’s nice to hear, then, that from this October, not only will Windows 7 join the battle with Microsoft’s specially-tailored Starter edition, but Moblin Linux could steal a slice of the action too.

A German website, with a name for being accurate, claims that Asus will start shipping Moblin on it’s Eee PC netbooks soon, but isn’t sure whether it’ll be on a new model or an existing one. There was no mention of whether the Eee Top or Eee Box would get a dose of the moblin treatment. But the same article also mentions that Asus have been working very closely with the Google Chrome OS team, currently consisting of 35 members.

You can find a roughly translated version of the German report here.

How to Install Moblin Now

Moblin can already be installed on a netbook, notebook or desktop PC. First of all, what is it? It’s an open source project originally intended to run on Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs). Then Linux and Intel got a hold of some of the code and optimized it for usage on netbooks containing an Intel Atom processor. The second version of this was released earlier this year. Find out more information on the official Moblin website. Alternatively, read the Wikipedia article.

Make sure that your netbook contains an Intel Atom processor, or Mobile might not operate as well as it should.

Download the image for Moblin from the official website or kernel.org.

Download and install an image burning application such as Win32 Disk Imager or ImgBurn.

Burn the Moblin image you downloaded to a blank CD via the image burning application.

Once the Mobile image has been burnt onto the CD, insert the CD and boot from it. To do so, you may have to enter BIOS (Basic Input Output System) and change some boot settings, such as the boot device order.

Moblin, once you’ve got your boot settings in working order, should boot effortlessly. It’s your choice whether you actually install it, and you’ll get a set of options when you boot. To make sure that your netbook will run Moblin in full working order, see this list of tested platforms.

Badec Bros Mosaic recently installed a beautiful, large and colourful mosaic into the swimming pool of a client. We are not talking about the boring and somewhat vulgar dolphin mosaic that we used to see everywhere as children…This gorgeous design resembles the silhouette of a cityscape and adds dimension to the previously dull swimming pool floor.

Mosaic is frequently used with water, both indoors and outdoors. Water features and swimming pools are nearly always decorated with mosaic. Mosaic is both waterproof and durable, which makes it such an ideal medium to use to decorate your water feature or pool. There is also a visual affinity between water and mosaic, which is aesthetically pleasing.

Badec Bros Mosaic has created many beautiful mosaics in water features and swimming pools over the past few years and continues to grow from strength to strength, with trend-setting designs and professional installations.

Should you be interested in having Talita Badenhorst design and quote you on a unique mosaic for your water feature or swimming pool, you can contact her on her e-mail address at talita@badecbros.com

She will gladly arrange an appointment with you to stun you with her creative ideas.
