I picked up this book, WISDOM last week – it is filled with 365 beautiful pages of wise words from Indian masters, and the most beautifully captivating images of India and the sheer naturalness of their people. The Indian culture is so interesting, the colours, the celebrations – are stunning.

For Ivy’s first birthday party we had brunch for just a handful of close friends. It was perfect.

The night before we were up till the wee hours making pom poms.

I made my mum’s banana loaf and a beautifully light white chocolate gateau.

I thought this would be a great piece as a coffee table, all I needed to do was chop the legs off.  Unlike most things this little project actually went according to plan with no hiccups- literally that never normally happens! After sanding it down I dyed the wood which really brought out the flame in the wood and had a nice warm look.  With a layer of oil to finish it off and a lick of paint inside the desk, here is the final piece:

I was a little over zealous whilst prepping these flowers, hence the unintended casualty above but it did make me realize how good a splash of primary red looks with a good strong blue. Perfect for taking the edge off the traditional boys bedroom.

I LOVE the texture and colour in this image. According to pantone, green is THE colour of the moment and if you happen to have decorated with green why not add a touch of bright yellow? Interestingly, especially in the UK, yellow is making somewhat of a comeback. It started with simple accessories  but recently I have seen it graduating to walls. I wouldn’t recommend one this bright on all 4 walls though as research has proven it can be unsettling!

If you’re a purist at heart, stick to white like these orchids but add a rich succulent green to soften it.

While sofas with clean lines and minimal silhouettes look crisp and flawless, it is the low, lounge settees that I find most inviting. A great example is the Togo, which is unpretentious, slightly odd, and loads of fun — perfect for my imaginary home. I have yet to try it though…

It is the first of it’s kind, as Apple is not only have a design open house, but everything inside the house is created by him and is part of his new Mid Century collection, therefore, you can purchase the items you like. 

I loved the simplicity of the items and as always, they are created and textured with such skill and realism. These are just some pics that I snapped and I do hope you get time to go over and check the place out. I am not sure how long it is open till, but it opens tomorrow.
