Recently Mario Borghezio (Italy), member of the European Parliament, spoke openly against the influence of globalist organizations such as the Bilderberg Group and the Trilateral Commission. “Is it possible that no one has noticed that all 3 (EU Presidential candidates) frequently attend Bilderberg or Trilateral meetings?,” asked Borghezio. Rompuy will undoubtedly serve globalist interests during his reign of the European Union.

Global strategy. That’s the talking point we hear over and over again from all agencies, UN or otherwise, who have an interest in profiting from the deal they are proposing. Never mind that all nation-states who sign on to the Copenhagen treaty will effectively forfeit their representative systems to this global authority, deciding which taxes will be paid by which nation-state. In the end, all roads seem to lead to a “planetary regime” envisioned by the elite long before “global warming” was even heard of.

O idee veche staruie inca in mintile multora, chiar a celor bine intentionati: stanga e internationalista, dreapta e mai curand nationalista. Nu incerc sa descifrez aici, in anul de gratie 2009, ce inseamna astazi stanga si dreapta. Dar merita sa reamintesc ca un mare politolog italian stabilea astfel diferenta: “Criteriul frecvent utilizat pentru a distinge dreapta de stanga il constituie atasamentul la idealul egalitarismului, care – alaturi de cel al libertatii si pacii – este motivatia suprema pentru coeziune si lupta politica. Omul de stanga este egalitarist, adica porneste de la convingerea ca cea mai mare parte a inegalitatilor care il indigneaza si pe care ar vrea sa le faca sa dispara, sunt sociale si deci, eliminabile. Omul de dreapta insa  este inegalitarist: pentru el inegalitatile din societate tin de natura omului si deci nu pot fi eliminate. De aceea inegalitaristul tine sa accentueze diferentele intre oameni.” Mai pot fi gasite si alte criterii de definire, dar in orice caz este falsa opinia ca in zilele noastre stanga si dreapta s-au apropiat intr-atat incat nu mai pot fi deosebite.

 In ce priveste termenul de internationalism, stim ca notiunea se refera astazi mai putin la solidaritatea muncitoreasca, asa cum era inteleasa la sfarsitul secolului 19, cat mai ales e  strans si indestructibil legata de cea a numeroaselor concerne multinationale, a bancilor cu o retea de filiale in zeci de state, a societatilor si firmelor internationale, despre care deseori e greu de spus carei tari mai apartin. Iar nationalismul, termen poluat de nenumaratele abuzuri ale extremismului de dreapta, continua sa fie folosit in scopuri electorale, mascandu-i-se demagogic imaginea compromisa si atribuindu-se cea de patriotism.

            Am facut aceasta introducere pentru a reaminti ca numai stanga, indiferent daca conceptul este imbratisat de un partid sau exprima doar o anumita sensibilitate, este cea care a luptat impotriva efectelor nocive ale procesului de globalizare economica, cand acesta se reduce la “internationalismul” cercurilor financiare mondiale. Tot ea este cea care a dezvaluit – cu cativa ani in urma – substratul propunerii de creare a unei “Europe federale a regiunilor”, aplaudata de ideologii dreptei, care ar fi dus la recroirea granitelor si destramarea statelor nationale. In fine, revenind la tara noastra, stanga este cea care s-a opus incercarilor de rescriere a istoriei romanilor sub pretextul demitificarii personalitatilor ce au aparat fiinta nationala si au faurit statul actual, precum si cea care s-a opus demolarii unor valori general acceptate ale literaturii romane, ceeace ar fi sters sters si ultimele iluzii pe care le mai nutrim despre trecutul neamului.

            Este fals si total neproductiv a lasa ca oameni cu viziune de dreapta sa se erijeze in unicii aparatori ai valorilor nationale, atunci cand aceste valori sunt intretinute cu grije in sufletul majoritatii cetatenilor Romaniei. Solidaritatea internationala este un sentiment nobil, ce nu exclude insa acordarea importantei cuvenite caracteristicilor predominant pozitive ale celor ce locuiesc majoritar pe acelasi teritoriu si vorbesc aceiasi limba. Poate parea paradoxal, dar este totusi o realitate faptul ca astazi in tarile Uniunii Europene, organizatie ce face pasi spre integrarea economica a tarilor continentului, este departe de a dispare sentimentul national, ci – din contra – el se afirma cu mai multa putere. In Franta, in chiar aceste zile, se desfasoara o vasta campanie pentru clarificarea valorilor identitatii nationale si a ceeace reprezinta mandria de a fi francez. In Germania tot mai frecvent televiziunea si ziarele deschid desbateri cu privire la aportul marilor figuri din istoria tarii la crearea acestei natiuni “der Dichter und Denker” (a poetilor si ganditorilor). Venita din Statele Unite, ideea unor sondaje pentru clasificarea ierarhica a celor mai mari personalitati din istorie, a prins si s-a raspandit in toate tarile Europei, cu  participarea neasteptata a milioane de cetateni.

Romanul tine la tara sa, iar a desconsidera aceasta realitate, cu argumentul ca alimenteaza spiritul nationalist, este simplist si nu poate fi acceptat de omul politic de stanga. Ceeace nu inseamna insa ca el nu e constient de lipsurile proprii, unele din ele vechi, precum si de mentalitatea defetista pe care au sadit-o in mintile oamenilor anii grei ai tranzitiei. Conform datelor ONU in acest an numarul persoanelor din Romania ce traiesc in saracie absoluta a depasit cifra de 1,6 milioane (din care 350 mii copii pana la 14 ani). Totodata in Romania inegalitatea veniturilor banesti este printre cele mai ridicate din Uniunea Europeana. Economia tarii, inglodata in datorii, are viitorul compromis de o conducere incapabila si, uneori, venala. Politicienii sunt, in buna parte, prea putin preocupati de interesul public si mai mult de interesul propriu. Treptat au aparut doua Romanii, greu de a fi unite : cateva sute de mii de oameni ce au acces la sanatate, educatie si servicii, si restul de milioane, care se chinuie sa supravietuiasca si nu reusesc sa se zmulga din saracie. Deci un ansamblu de stari de lucruri ce ar justifica indignarea generala si cererea de a se pune capat cauzelor ce ne-au dus aici. Dar nu, nimic de acest fel nu se intrevede! Incepand de la Patapievici incoace (in 1990 si reluat in “Politice”) si trecand prin mii de articole de ziar (in care s-au scos la iveala tot soiul de racile – reale sau imaginare), cauzele sunt atribuite doar unor defecte genetice ale acestui popor. Quid prodest? Cui foloseste oare aceasta atitudine ce are caracterul de campanie dirijata si care a facut sa fie mai raspandit ca niciodata in trecut, sentimentul de inferioritate al unei natiuni ce traieste de veacuri in jurul arcului Carpatilor?

Doar o politica ferma de stanga poate aduce schimbare in cele ce se intampla. E iluzorie speranta unora ca, prin apartenenta tarii la Uniunea Europeana, poate veni din afara salvarea. Multi politicieni s-au bucurat chiar ca, prin admiterea Romaniei in U.E., o parte din deciziile lor eronate s-ar putea arunca in seama celor de la Bruxelles. Prin asta insa s-ar sprijini doar mentalitatea ca fara “indicatiile pretioase” venite din strainatate, romanii sunt sortiti pieirii. Dar ori de cate ori va fi pus in fata dilemei de a alege intre o optiune radicala de stanga sau una de dreapta, occidentul va da preferinta ultimei, sperand ca pe aceasta o poate tine mai bine sub control. Iar elita noastra intelectuala, a imbratisat-o si ea. Filosoful maghiar , originar din Cluj, Gaspar Miklos Tamas ii facea urmatoarele reprosuri acestei elite intelectuale romane: “Pentru ca nu v-au convenit consecintele politice ale revolutiei din decembrie 1989, ati convins o lume intreaga ca revolutia de fapt nici nu a avut loc, ca a fost doar o scamatorie, un miraj, o halucinatie, reusind astfel sa escamotati cea mai mare fapta istorica a poporului roman. La posturile de televiziune din lumea intreaga au aparut revolutionari romani care si-au negat propriile acte de eroism. Revolutionarilor le-a fost atat de sila de propria lor revolutie si de libertatea propriului lor neam, incat au fost dispusi sa renunte pana si la mandria nationala”.

In incheiere trebuie reamintit ca patriotismul este constiinta identitatii nationale, este fidelitatea fata de istoria tarii, pretuirea succeselor realizate si amintirea infrangerilor suferite, respectul limbii si al culturii, acceptarea de sacrificii pentru cauza celor multi. Cu doua sute de ani in urma Saint-Just spunea: “Patria este in fond nu doar solul, ci comunitatea de afectiuni care face pe cetateni sa lupte pentru ceeace le este drag”. Iar apararea patriei pune implicit problema supravietuirii statului national, a prelungirii istoriei sale particulare, a mentinerii suveranitatii. Iata de ce stangii ii revine rolul de a duce, sincer si consecvent, o politica patriotica, caci ea nu accepta demontarea treptata a statului, doar de dragul crearii conditiilor optime pentru ca piata sa-si impuna nestingherita regulile. Ernest Renan scria pe la 1880: “Existenta unei natiuni este un plebiscit de zi cu zi, asa cum existenta omului este afirmatia permanenta a vietii”. Iar revolutionarul Tudor Vladimirescu exclama : “Norodul suntem noi, iar nu tagma jefuitorilor!”.

U.S. troops’ continental patch proves North American Union agenda

Troops in the United States’ USNORTHCOM ranks appear to have adopted a shoulder patch showing a North American continental design, with an emphasis on United Nations colors, giving evidence of the North American Union ‘conspiracy theory’ plans to merge Canada, Mexico and the U.S. into one super-state.

The patch reveals the continent of North America in the orange and blue colors typical to the U.N.

It also carries the image of a mosque to designate the unit’s service in North Africa in World War II.

The insignia patch is displayed on the 5th Army website, the home of U.S. Army North, USARNORTH, the Joint Force Land Component Command and the Army Service Component Command of USNORTHCOM.

The design of the patch with the U.S. eagle image superimposed seems to imply a hierarchy in which the U.S. 5th Army exerts its military command under the authority of USNORTHCOM, with its domain defined as all North America, including the U.S., Mexico and Canada, for the United Nations, as implied in the orange and blue motif.

In 2007, WND published a six-part exclusive series detailing that USNORTHCOM is a U.S. military combatant command created to respond to national emergencies in North America.

WND also has reported that the U.S. and Canada signed a military agreement Feb. 14 allowing the armed forces from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a domestic civil emergency, even one that does not involve a cross-border crisis.

The USNORTHCOM logo similarly displays a continental design, but without the U.N. colors, as is clear from the emblem displayed in the upper left hand corner of the USNORTHCOM Internet homepage.

North America plot

WND reported last month the integration of the U.S. with Canada and Mexico, long deemed by many as little more than a fanciful “conspiracy theory,” actually was an idea promoted by the Council on Foreign Relations and sold to President Bush as a means of increasing commerce and business interest throughout North America, according to a top Canadian businessman.

Thomas d’Aquino, CEO and president of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, the Canadian counterpart to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, confirmed in an interview recently published in Canada the accuracy of what WND first reported more than three years ago: The Council on Foreign Relations was the prime mover in establishing the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, or SPP.

A close reading of an interview with d’Aquino published by the Metropolitan Corporate Counsel Oct. 4 confirms that the creation of the SPP was not a “conspiracy theory” but a well thought-out North American integration plan launched by the Canadian Council of Chief Executives
and the Council on Foreign Relations in the United States.

The interview further confirmed President Obama wants to continue North American integration under the rebranded North American Leaders Summit, providing the North American Competitiveness Council can be recast to include more environmentalists and union leaders.

Herman Van Rompuy (Bilderberg member) has been selected to be the first president of the European Union. A man who has been given everything by the oligarchical elite of Europe such as the seat of Prime Minister of Belgium has now been chosen to take one of the top jobs in Europe. The selection was made during a dinner meeting in Brussels by the leaders of the 27 EU member states.

The new positions include; President of the European Council and Foreign Affairs Chief and comes into effects on December 1, 2009. Van Rompuy will take his post as the first president of Europe on January 1, 2010.

The permanent EU president seat was created by the Lisbon Treaty that was finally ratified by the member states, including Ireland that was passed in early October, Ireland first refused to give away its sovereignty to the EU in the first referendum, but the Irish voters overwhelmingly supported the second referendum due to the promise of jobs.

It no longer seems like a coincidence that Bilderberg meetings are the place where candidates are positioned in high-places of government. According to ‘De Tijd‘, Van Rompuy attended a Bilderberg dinner in Brussels just days before he was selected as EU president.

At the meeting Van Rompuy gave a speech about the implementation of new taxes on shopping items (value added tax), airline travel (aviation tax) and petrol stations (fuel duty tax) that will go directly to Brussels as an “EU tax”. He said: “The possibilities of financial levies at European level must be seriously examined and for the first time the large countries in the union are open to that,”, credit to the newspaper De Tijd.

The Lisbon Treaty, with its incorporation of most European countries into a vast superstate, is another chapter in the push by globalist elites to homogenise the entire world.

The ‘Asian Union’ which Kevin Rudd has been trumpeting represents another step on the same path. Although it’s still a long way off (Asian countries, being more varied in political and economic structure, are harder to integrate than European ones) it is still definitely on the cards. So too is an African Union, a North American Union etc. Eventually, all these continental ‘unions’ will be ‘harmonised’ into a truly global state. At least if the corporate elites are allowed to have their way…

National-Anarchists, like all sane people, view these developments with horror and contempt. Aside from the destruction of the world’s cultures and folkways that globalism represents, it is also a surefire recipe for tyranny. A world state could only be controlled by means of outright despotism.

If we want to avoid a future like that, then we must fight now.

The good news is that the system’s own overreach is already starting to work against it. In Europe, for instance, there is a clear development towards regionalism. People are rediscovering their ancestral cultures like never before, including regional cultures that existed long before the rise of the centralised nation state.

In Belgium itself (where the EU capital Brussels is located), there are signs that the artificially-created country could soon break down into its component regions of Flanders and Wallonia.

The regionalist movement is still small, largely manifested in pagan spiritual circles, in neo-folk and black metal music, and in certain growing political movements (such as National-Anarchism). But the regionalist tendency will doubtless continue to thrive as the EU sinks its bureaucratic tentacles further into people’s private lives and cultural spheres.

May a thousand flowers bloom…

En av kamraterna på Konfliktportalen, Jordränta, har i veckan utmanat mig att beskriva min vision av det klasslösa samhället. Kolla in hans utmaningsmanifest här. Notera gärna också att han har samma snygga bloggdesign som jag, fast den lite mörkare svart-gråa varianten som jag körde förra året .

Jag tycker att denna utmaning är både svår och väldigt spännande. Min ideologiska bakgrund har jag i den autonoma marxistiska teorin. Nittiotalets autonoma hade många svagheter och en av dem var det utbredda ointresset för teori. Själv sökte jag mig dock till de grupperingar som var intresserade av klassanalys och teori och min organisatoriska bakgrund kanske ger en del ledtrådar till vad som format mitt politiska tänkande: Syndikalistiska Ungdomsförbundet, Folkmakt, Stockholms Autonoma Marxister, Kvinnopolitiskt forum. Och nu på gamla dagar har jag gjort ett försiktigt närmande till Förbundet allt åt alla.

Skolad i den autonoma marxistiska riktningen har jag alltid varit mycket försiktig med det utopiska tänkandet, jag är mer van att försöka analysera var vi befinner oss, hur vi hamnat här samt hur vi kan försöka använda oss av de reellt existerande materiella förhållandena till vår fördel. Den ideala framtiden har alltid legat en bit bortom blickfånget på gott och ont.

Det goda med det är att alla försök att formulera en ideal framtid så lätt leder till blindhet för andra möjliga öppningar, gör det svårt att se att nya utvecklingar som inte ligger i linje med idealen mycket väl kan vara the real thing. Å andra sidan är något av det mest frustrerande med nutiden avsaknaden av visioner. Både reformistiska och revolutionerande.

Istället känns det som att vi frossar i undergångsscenarion, ett frosseri som gränsar till längtan efter en rejäl katastrof. Islamistisk terrorism, Illuminatis onda planer, Den Oundvikliga klimatkatastrofen, Fågelinfluensan, Svininfluensan, att Mayakalendern inte är daterad i all oändlighet utan tar slut 2012, ja man kan räkna upp hur många undergångsscenarier som helst, men mycket lite av framåtsyftande visioner.  90-talet bjöd på postmodernism, värderelativism och dekonstruktion. 00-talet på religiös fundamentalism, nykonservatism, radikalkonservatism (vilket bara är en fasadrenovering av de värderingar som ryms under beteckningen fascism) och moralism. Den moderna radikala visionen med framtiden i fokus verkar långt borta.

Därför känns det roligt och utmanande att lämna den materiella analysens begränsningar och våga sig på lite utopiskt drömmande. För det är ändå så att om vi inte ser en annan framtid framför oss så kommer vi aldrig att nå den heller. Är alla våra mentala bilder de av katastrof och undergång så är det det vi kommer att få i slutändan också.

Jordränta beskriver en vision av ett helautomatiskt samhälle, där mycket av produktionen styrs av robotar. Jag sympatiserar med denna strävan och tror absolut att modern teknik måste vara basen för ett framtida samhälle som är miljövänligt och samtidigt besparar oss onödigt arbete.

Däremot tror jag inte på en totalt arbetsfri framtid. Idag skyr vi arbetet som pesten, eftersom arbetet i kapitalismen är mördande fysiskt och mentalt, det är dödat arbete och arbetet har en sidoprodukt vid sidan av materiella produkter, det producerar individuell och samhällelig alienation. Men jag anser i likhet med Marx att det alienerade arbetet under kapitalismen är ett inverterat arbete, motsatsen till vad det skulle kunna vara. Människans natur är att vara aktiv, social, verksam och kreativ. I ett framtida samhälle ser jag ett arbete återerövrat från alienationen. Hur då? Jo genom att vi styr det, inte det oss.

Givetvis kommer arbetstiden vara mycket kortare än idag, både på grund av en hög teknisk nivå och på grund av att vi rationaliserat bort en massa onödigt arbete som hör till den kapitalistiska tiden. Men alla medborgare i det klasslösa samhället som inte är sjuka, för handikappade, för unga eller gamla, förväntas ta sin aktiva del av det arbete som faktiskt behövs och som skapar värde och utvecklar samhället.

Den lagstadgade arbetstiden är lika för alla yrken och min gissning är att den kommer att landa på mellan tre och fyra timmar per dag. Lönen är lagstadgad och lika för alla. Hur den individuella lönen kommer att tas ut vet jag inte i detalj. Om det blir något symboliskt medel som liknar pengar, eller genom möjliga val av olika produkter som då i sig inte kostar något. Men bara en del av värdet som produceras kan förstås gå till löner. En annan del avsätts till skötsel och investering i arbetsplatser och ytterligare en annan del till det gemensamma, som skolor, sjukvård, transport och liknande.

Begreppet ägande är avskaffat. En viss lagstiftning, om än betydligt bantad, behövs också i det framtida samhället, och en av de viktigaste grundlagarna är förbudet att göra profit på andra personers arbete. Begreppet ägande används inte alls utan har bytts ut mot förvaltande. De arbetande förvaltar tillsammans sin arbetsplats, de boende sitt område och så vidare.

Vissa beslut som rör infrastruktur och liknande måste tas på en lite mindre lokal nivå. Då kan det hända att ett område eller en arbetsplats väljer ett ombud. Här gäller Pariskommunens principer. Ombud är direkt ansvariga inför dem som valt dem, har samma lön som alla andra och deras förtroende kan dras tillbaka omedelbart om de missbrukar det. Hur denna samhällsdebatt och beslutsfattande kommer att skötas i praktiken får framtiden utvisa, förmodligen kommer det att gå ganska smidigt med hjälp av en fri och snabb modern kommunikationsteknik.

Det som gör framtidens arbete så annorlunda från dagens är just självförvaltningen. Då kommer arbetarna själva att stå för besluten när det gäller vad som ska produceras och inte, arbetsmiljö och tillvägagångssätt. Säkert kommer det att se väldigt olika ut på olika arbetsplatser. Rotation mellan olika arbetsuppgifter kommer nog att vara regeln. Många kommer säkert att ta beslut på demokratiskt möjligaste vis, genom stormöten till exempel. Men vill man jobba på något annat sätt, till exempel utse en teamledare eller chef, så finns inget som hindrar, men en sådan chef har inte möjlighet att få ut mer lön än någon annan. Det handlar då bara om ett fritt val av arbetsfördelning.

När det gäller den lagstadgade arbetstiden är det också arbetslagen själva som beslutar hur den fördelas. De flesta kommer säkert att tycka att en fyratimmarsdag är lagom. Men inom vissa arbetsområden, viss typ av vård till exempel, kanske det visar sig opraktiskt och man fördelar det annorlunda.

Så tänker jag mig att det blir i bland annat designkollektiven. Dessa kollektiv kan erbjuda tjänster åt varuproducerande arbetsplatser där man vill ha mer än egen input till ny design, och även ta fram konst till nya områden och så vidare. Då kan man förutse att en del som jobbar i de kollektiven vill ha mycket tid åt personliga konstnärliga projekt. Kanske har man därför betydligt längre arbetsdagar där, vilket man kan kompensera med längre ledighetsperioder då man ostört kan ägna sig åt egen konst, romanskrivande eller liknande.

För visst ska vi ha design, flera vackra alternativ att välja på när det gäller till exempel kläder, och vackra och konstnärliga miljöer även i framtiden. Precis som Jordränta så tror jag att den utökade fritiden i framtiden i kombination med ny teknik och samhällets sociala karaktär kommer att leda till en blomstrande kultur, där mycket är fritt och där många fler både utövar och skapar kultur. Förhoppningsvis alla människor på ett eller annat sätt. Men att det finns även finns en viss professionell verksamhet inom försköningen av det allmänna är ju bara en bonus för alla.

Visst kommer det att finnas arbetsfördelning också i det framtida samhället och alla de yrken som idag är medelklassyrken kommer inte att försvinna. Många kommer förvisso det, yrken som har att göra med reklam, övervakning, administration av arbetarnas liv, förmän och så vidare. Men det kommer fortfarande att finnas till exempel lärare, sjukvårdspersonal, designers och mycket annat. Skillnaden blir att de inte kan tillåtas privilegier i form av högre lön eller egna områden att isolera sig i. De kommer snarare att vara en del av och samarbeta med lokalsamhället på ett sätt som idag är okänt.

Alla kommer att ha rätt att utbilda sig till dessa specialyrken om de så önskar, och först har deltagit i annat arbete i fem år. Att de inte får någon högre lön kompenseras mer än väl av de intressanta arbetsuppgifterna och att utbildningen bekostas av samhället. Motprestationen till den gratis utbildningen är att man förbinder sig att också arbeta i det valda yrket ett visst föreskrivet antal år (eller hur länge man vill därefter förstås).

Många kurser på högskolenivå ges också för allmänheten utan koppling till några förpliktelser eller kostnad. Bara för att det är poängen med den utökade fritiden, att vi ska kunna använda den till det som gör oss mänskliga: att utvecklas, forska, lära nytt, uttrycka oss kulturellt, umgås och ha tid att älska varandra (och för er som gillar det självklart utöva idrott och sport).

Jag tror att dessa principer för yrkesutbildningen leder till att de som i framtiden blir till exempel läkare blir det i första hand av genuint intresse för yrket och för att de har fallenhet för att arbeta med människor. Motiv som sökande efter status, pengar, en fin familjs krav och så vidare bortfaller.

Någon ägandeklass kan naturligtvis inte finnas i ett samhälle där ägande inte existerar (om man inte räknar ungens cykel eller liknande). Alla som tillhört denna klass får möjlighet att integrera sig i det nya samhället genom att på samma villkor som alla andra delta i produktionen. Vill man inte det kan man försöka klara sig som individ i skogen utan stöd från samhället, men det är nog inget särskilt attraktivt alternativ. Eftersom målet är att klassamhället så fort som möjligt ska förvandlas till en historisk kuriositet i stil med de medeltida häxbränningarna så förföljs givetvis inte barn till före detta kapitalister med att nekas möjlighet till utbildning eller liknande. Den typen av långsinthet kommer bara att bevara klasstänkandet in i ett system där det inte längre ska ha någon plats.

Det klasslösa samhället kommer att vara mycket annorlunda än det vi har idag. En förutsättning för det kommer att vara att revolutionen ägt rum internationellt. Vi kommer därför inte längre att ha några nationalstater, däremot starka lokalsamhällen. Resandet och migrationen kommer att vara fritt. Det står alla fritt att söka jobb var det vill, sen är det arbetskollektiven som avgör vem de vill ta in som ny arbetskamrat.

Och migrationen kommer naturligtvis se mycket annorlunda ut jämfört med idag när alla delar av världen har samma ekonomiska och sociala struktur med basen i självständig produktion och självförvaltning. Fattigdom och krig kommer inte längre att pressa fram migration utan resor och byten av bostadsort kommer att motiveras av kärlek och nyfikenhet.

Antagligen kommer kulturen på många sätt bli mer global, då samma värderingar enar världen. Säkert kommer vi nordbor fortfarande att resa blomsmyckade pålar att äta sill kring mitt på sommaren, och vid medelhavet kommer man fortfarande att ta siesta de heta middagstimmarna, kanske i högre utsträckning eftersom man då kommer ha mer tid för det. Men mycket annat som idag kommer undan som kultur kommer inte längre att finna något utrymme i det i sanning moderna samhället. Jag tänker till exempel på patriarkala sedvänjor som brudpris, eller religiösa idéer om att kvinnor inte ska arbeta. Det klasslösa samhällets frihet, överflöd av fritid, gratis kollektivtrafik, utbildning, sjukvård och så vidare bygger på att varje medborgare också efter förmåga deltar i det arbete som gör det möjligt. Man kommer inte att kunna skylla på sitt kön eller en gud för att undvika det.

Naturligtvis kommer inte det klasslösa samhället att lösa alla problem. Säkert kommer det att finnas saker som psykisk sjukdom, missbruk, våldsbrott och liknande också där. Familjeformerna kommer att variera, men de som är singlar eller kärnfamiljer kommer ändå inte att vara så isolerade som idag, utan naturligt ingå i flera gemenskaper utanför familjen. När problem uppkommer blir det en uppgift för samhället att gripa in på ett så bra sätt som möjligt, med vård eller stöd.

Jag utesluter inte att det kan uppkomma situationer då även framtidens medborgare för en tid måste tvångsomhändertas, för att skydda tredje part, som en hotad partner till exempel. Men det kommer inte att finnas underlag för en regelrätt fängelseverksamhet, utan man kommer att nödgas finna mer sociala och verksamma lösningar på problemen. Egendomsbrott kommer nästan helt att försvinna, om ägande inte är begrepp och ingen tjänar mer än någon annan, så försvinner motiven och drivkrafterna för dessa brott.

Ja detta var en kort skiss av hur jag tänker mig ett klasslöst samhälle. Väldigt skissartad det medges, men det har sina orsaker. Det ena är hänsyn till en bloggläsares tålamod och ork. Det andra är att att vi inte kan detaljstyra framtiden, mycket kommer att vara upp till de som i praktiken bygger det nya samhället, deras förutsättningar, önskningar och behov.

Jag nöjer mig med att konstatera att den som önskar sig denna, eller liknande, framtid måste undvika en massa fällor i samtiden. Konspirationsteorierna och deras tendens att ta blicken från de verkliga problemen och peka på reaktionära lösningar. Den postmoderna normlösheten med dess bastard värderelativismen som dödar den moderna gnistan genom att spränga alla kompasser. Pessimismen och tendensen att ge upp innan vi försökt. Modlösheten, framtidslösheten och den förödande auktoritetstron.

Ägarklassen finns av en anledning, för att vi låter den finnas. Den dag vi underkänner de tomma värden som idag driver runt ett rostigt system fullt av desperation, fattigdom, orättvisa, krig, rofferi och våld, så kommer det att kollapsa på precis samma sätt som ett troll som spricker i solen. Men det kräver att vi var och en blir de övermänniskor vi kan vara och vågar lita till vår kollektiva styrka och vår förmåga att axla våra egna liv.

Hoppas på många synpunkter i kommentarsfältet, både med kritik av min vision och egna visioner om detalj eller helhet. When you think about the phrase ‘New World Order’ just think about mass de-population of mankind, the total enslavement of man, forcing humans into compact cities surrounded by protected wildlife where he is prohibited from entering, a socialist distribution of wealth, the complete control of all governments wealth and power in the hands of a few oligarchical dictators in the United Nations. It all sounds like a movie straight out of Hollywood, but the reality is globalists are moving forward at an exponential rate this year and pushing this treaty on America would mean complete servitude to the United Nations.

I attended another lecture  hosted by the Kyoto Ryoma Club. This time the speaker was Machida Akihiro of Meiji Gakuin University. He spoke about Shimazu Hisamitsu, younger brother to one of the great lords of Satsuma, Shimazu Nariakira, and the father of that lord’s successor, Shimazu Shigehisa.

Although Machida-sensei did not really touch upon the subject in his talk, what interests me about Hisamitsu is his role in the famous Namamugi Incident, or as it is sometimes known, the Richardson Affair, in which the British merchant Richardson was murdered by Satsuma men.  The incident led to the Anglo-Satsuma War, which in turn led to much cooperation between Britain and Satsuma and to the sending of Satsuma students to Britain in 1865 (a subject I have touched upon in a previous post).  The British residents in Yokohama were in uproar over the Namamugi Incident and were initially baying for the swift arrest of Shimazu Hisamitsu, however he managed to get away and was not pursued further. I’d like to delve into this topic further in a future blog; will keep you posted.

Today was the 115th anniversary of Nakai Hiromu’s death. In the morning I visited his grave at Sokushû-in within the precincts of Tofukuji Temple.

This was the second time for me to visit on the anniversary of his death. Last year I was joined by two Kyoto Ryoma Club members, but this year I went on my own. I washed the grave, placed flowers and lit incense as an offering before paying my respects with a prayer. I felt somewhat guilty about not having my completed my PhD thesis yet, and could only report that I am STILL working on it. My only excuse is not having the time as I currently work a full-time job now. There was a young priest cleaning up the temple gardens after the recent typhoon. There were leaves and twigs all over the place so he really had his work cut out for him; still he had some time to chat to me briefly. I spoke to the mother of the house too. She told me how Hiromu’s descendent, Nakai Hiroko used to often come and visit the grave all the way from her home at the foot of Mt. Fuji. Nakai Hiroko is one of the ladies who established the Nakai Hiromu statue that now stands in Kyoto’s Maruyama Park in 1964. According to the mother at Sokushû-in, Hiroko is an elderly lady now who can’t really get to visit the grave these days. I gave her a copy of one of my papers and she said she would pass it on to Hiroko-san. The first time I met one of Nakai Hiromu’s descendents, I felt the reality for the first time. Until that point, Hiromu had just been an historical figure from dusty history books. On meeting one of his descendents the realism hit me. I’ll never forget that feeling. Hiromu is somebody’s grandfather, great-grandfather…

I attended Day One of the Japan Writers Conference (JWC) at Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts (DWCLA). It had been my intention to go and listen to Juliet Winters Carpenter speak about the translation project she is now involved in, that of Shiba Ryôtarô’s Saka no ue no Kumo. There are eight books in the series and Prof. Carpenter will be team translating them. She informed us she will be doing three of the books over the next two years!

Whn I lived in Aomori (1999-2002) I bought a copy of her translation of Shiba’s Saigo no Shôgun, or The Last Shogun. It was from this publication that I first learned of Prof. Carpenter. Shiba’s books are well-known as fairly difficult to read and with all the historical references his books must be terribly difficult to translate. As Prof. Carpenter herself said however, Shiba is one of, if not the most influential authors in Japan. Some might even argue that to understand the Japanese mindset it is essential to know Shiba’s work. However, to my knowledge, despite the tremendous amount of works that he has written, only The Last Shogun, translated by Prof Carpenter, The Tatar Whirlwind: A Novel of Seventeenth Century East Asia translated by Joshua A Vogel, and Kukai the Universal: Scenes from His Life, translated by Akiko Takemoto have been translated and published in English. It has always been one of my dreams to translate Ryôma ga Yuku; that too is eight volumes long, so if I am going to do it, I had better get started….

Obama Will Surrender America To World Government

The Minnesota Free Market Institute hosted an event at Bethel University in St. Paul on Wednesday evening. Keynote speaker Lord Christopher Monckton, former science adviser to British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, warned the American people to stop Obama from signing a ‘global climate treaty’ at the climate change conference in Copenhagen in December 7-18 that will ultimately surrender U.S. sovereignty to a World Government under the guise of helping the environment.

With every passing day it becomes more evident that Obama is nothing more than a globalist, it is obvious from health care reform that he doesn’t care about the middle class, he is in the pocket of the internationalist elite like Kissinger and the rest of the global elite that wish to establish a World Government Dictatorship under the auspices of the United Nations.

If this international climate change treaty passes, Americans will have no choice but to pay a global climate tax that will be paid directly to the United Nations, at first the tax will be introduced to the public gradually such as a barely noticeable tax at the gas pump, which will later be increased once it has been officially established.

The Bilderberg Group has discussed this new global tax this year among many other things like creating a fast-but-painful depression to better establish a New World Order. The IMF, a United Nations entity has already declared itself the global central bank that will set regulations and issue a global currency to the nations. People like George Soros, IMF and the World Bank are betting against the dollar and with the help of the Federal Reserve will topple the dominance of the U.S. dollar in the world market to destroy the U.S. economy and force the global dictatorship on the western hemisphere.

We are beginning to see the emergence of a New World Order this year, with talks of a new global currency, a global climate tax, a global police force with access to a worldwide database of DNA, biometric and fingerprint records, an international gun-control treaty, an international criminal court treaty, the internet moving towards world government it’s crystal clear what is about to happen in this country.

  • the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will continue, the front of the war will be Pakistan
  • did they believe that giving Obama the peace prize would promote peace? Comparison to Woodrow Wilson… no credibility…
  • to promote peace, we have build a coalition of constitutional conservatives, libertarians and the anti-war left
  • we have to stand up for what is right and not be so narrow-minded in our partisanship

IN MEMORY OF NORMAN BETHUNE December 21, 1939

Comrade Norman Bethune,^[1] a member of the Communist Party of Canada, was around fifty when he was sent by the Communist Parties of Canada and the United States to China; he made light of travelling thousands of miles to help us in our War of Resistance Against Japan. He arrived in Yenan in the spring of last year, went to work in the Wutai Mountains, and to our great sorrow died a martyr at his post. What kind of spirit is this that makes a foreigner selflessly adopt the cause of the Chinese people’s liberation as his own? It is the spirit of internationalism, the spirit of communism, from which every Chinese Communist must learn. Leninism teaches that the world revolution can only succeed if the proletariat of the capitalist countries supports the struggle for liberation of the colonial and semi-colonial peoples and if the proletariat of the colonies and semi-colonies supports that of the proletariat of the capitalist countries.[2] Comrade Bethune put this Leninist line into practice. We Chinese Communists must also follow this line in our practice. We must unite with the proletariat of all the capitalist countries, with the proletariat of Japan, Britain, the United States, Germany, Italy and all other capitalist countries, for this is the only way to overthrow imperialism, to liberate our nation and people and to liberate the other nations and peoples of the world. This is our internationalism, the internationalism with which we oppose both narrow nationalism and narrow patriotism.

Comrade Bethune’s spirit, his utter devotion to others without any thought of self, was shown in his great sense of responsibility in his work and his great warm-heartedness towards all comrades and the people. Every Communist must learn from him. There are not a few people who are irresponsible in their work, preferring the light and shirking the heavy, passing the burdensome tasks on to others and choosing the easy ones for themselves. At every turn they think of themselves before others. When they make some small contribution,

they swell with pride and brag about it for fear that others will not know. They feel no warmth towards comrades and the people but are cold, indifferent and apathetic. In truth such people are not Communists, or at least cannot be counted as devoted Communists. No one who returned from the front failed to express admiration for Bethune whenever his name was mentioned, and none remained unmoved by his spirit. In the Shansi-Chahar-Hopei border area, no soldier or civilian was unmoved who had been treated by Dr. Bethune or had seen how he worked. Every Communist must learn this true communist spirit from Comrade Bethune.

Comrade Bethune was a doctor, the art of healing was his profession and he was constantly perfecting his skill, which stood very high in the Eighth Route Army’s medical service. His example is an excellent lesson for those people who wish to change their work the moment they see something different and for those who despise technical work as of no consequence or as promising no future.

Comrade Bethune and I met only once. Afterwards he wrote me many letters. But I was busy, and I wrote him only one letter and do not even know if he ever received it. I am deeply grieved over his death. Now we are all commemorating him, which shows how profoundly his spirit inspires everyone. We must all learn the spirit of absolute selflessness from him. With this spirit everyone can be very useful to the people. A man’s ability may be great or small, but if he has this spirit, he is already noble-minded and pure, a man of moral integrity and above vulgar interests, a man who is of value to the people.

In 1936 when the German and Italian fascist bandits invaded Spain, he went to the front and worked for the anti-fascist Spanish people. In order to help the Chinese people in their War of Resistance Against Japan, he came to China at the head of a medical team and arrived in Yenan in the spring of 1938. Soon after he went to the Shansi-Chahar-Hopei border area. Imbued with ardent internationalism and the great communist spirit, he served the army and the people of the Liberated Areas for nearly two years. The START ME project was a perfect way to get profound contact with Romanian youth. At the same time, while preparing and developing teaching material, I also learned a lot about personal development and career planning myself. The classes were serious as well as amusing, with a lot of laughter.

AIESEC gave us, the trainers, also the opportunity to organize activities outside the classes, which added a lot of informal, joyful and wonderful moments with the Romanian students and some of them even became my friends. This internship in Iaşi was honestly one of the best experiences of my life.

The purpose of START ME project was not only to educate young people in aspects of daily life and moral or material values, but also to bring a personal point of view of the trainers into everything they taught.

I can honestly say that it was a success – the students in Iasi were lucky enough to have 4 trainers who did the best job they could, who taught us how to deal with all sorts of problems and how to always have a positive attitude. But the most important thing they managed to teach us was that every single one of us is important and that we are the ones who can make a difference.

The difference between this project and others I have participated to is that Renee, Eva, Jodie and Kyle (the trainers) were not our teachers – they were our friends; they did not have any sort of experience of teaching and they achieved their goal of making of difference by putting passion into everything.

I believe that it was a unique experience not only for us but for them as well and, as Jodie used to say, “Iaşi and START ME are not a city and a project, they’re a way of life”.

Being able to participate in the START ME project was one interesting experience in my life, because of the people I met, the new things I learned, the interesting things I found out from the trainers, Eva, Renee, Jodie and Kyle about their home countries and the places where they’ve been. During those week-ends of trainings, I realized that I can do better, I can work harder and that the people around me, if they are motivated, they can work very good in teams, even if they don’t know each other.

START ME practically invited me in to a new world, and opened a few doors for me which I never knew were there and I am happy that I chose to participate because to somewhat extent START ME changed my life, and namely: It taught me about myself, and how to better discover my true potential, it taught me how to work efficiently within a team, how to take responsibility both for my actions and for the actions of the team, it taught me how to manage my time and how to make important decisions as a leader.

As for the career orientation course, I knew to somewhat extent what I wanted to do with my life but I wasn’t 100% sure, and thanks to that part of the program I realized that making a choice on which all your future depends on, is extremely hard, that is why, now I know that I made my best choice and pursue my dream, because basically what I learned from carrier orientation was that you have to choose a university which both offers you a promising carrier and a high level of education, but most importantly, and the thing that matters the most is that you have to choose,  thinking that there is the best place for me because I love doing that, because it represents me, because it is my dream, and if it my dream, that means that no matter what, I CAN DO IT!

So, what START ME basically taught me is this: “You can do whatever you want, it’s in your power to do so, as long as you really want to do it, and you love doing it”.

Am intalnit persoane care n-aveau absolut nici o idee ce vor sa faca in viata, si oameni care isi planuisera totul pana la ultimul detaliu. Eu ma numar printre cei care stiu exact ce vor si, desi s-ar putea crede ca n-aveam nevoie de un astfel de “curs”, am invatat cum sa-mi organizez drumul pana acolo, cum sa-mi ating scopurile intermediare si, mai ales, cum sa dau glas visurilor mele. I’m currently reading the fascinating autobiography of Malcolm X. His was an asounding life story of  metamorphasis from nieve kid from the country, Harlem hustler, Nation of Islam preacher and finally into a more independent thinker who dropped his earlier distrust for all whites in the fight for social and economic justice.

The great sadness reading the life story of Malcolm X is how his untimely death cut short the potential for the man to become a truly revolutionary leader of dispossesed people, no matter their race. Towards the end of his life Malcolm lost his possibly racist sentiments as was preached by the Nation of Islam and realised that peoples of all colours, creeds and religions must come together to fight for equality and justice. His trips to the UK, France and Mecca cemented these ideals as well as his belief that the world was nearing a revolutionary epoch that would require all men and women to work together to throw off their chains. During his trip to Mecca he gained a new Arabic name El Hajj Malik El Shabazz and more importantly a new found respect for brotherhood as he met fellow Muslims of all colours who treated him with respect.

Malcolm X was murdered in 1965 by the Nation of Islam, or the FBI (as Fred Hampton was as part of the COINTELPRO programme of the 1960s) just as his fight for universal human rights began. We need more individuals today willing to risk harm speaking out for those who have no voice and against inequality, whether it be on a national or global level.

Public Education

Free public school was still a new concept in the 1800s and was not widely available for all. By 1958, public education got a big boost from the Government with the Defense of Public Education Act which used government funds to help boost the accessibility and quality of public education. This Act did not come easily as a century of debates went on about whether the state should fund such a large social service. Imagine if we didn’t have Public Education today, how many of us would be able to afford private education? Would our parents be working somewhere else, say the sewing factory or warehouse? Do we take our education for granted? How do these structures, these institutions and everyday right get established?

The Working Man’s Party promoted free public education as a way out of poverty. They were established 1828 and were considered to be the first official union in the United States. They had demanded more just work hours of 10-12 hours however they had racist sentiments and gender biased demands.

-Dennis Kearney (1847-1907):  An Irish immigrant, sailor, and founder of the Workingman’s Party of California (HQ: San Francisco) ; jailed several times for inciting riots against the Chinese in San Francisco; writer of the anti-Chinese Manifesto of the Workingman’s Party.

Besides their racist attitudes, they had demanded male universal suffrage instead of fighting for equal suffrage for all.  The unions of the past are similar to the unions in today’s United States in that they fight for superficial rights.  Without fighting for the rights of all, we are still not free.  The unions job is to fight for all working people and to make this world a better a better place.

The Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) or also known as the Wobblies had the intention of fighting for everyone’s rights.  At one point, they held 100,000 Union members while being able to gain the support of 300,000.  They fought hard to overthrow the ruling class with the motto, “An injury to one, is an injury to all”

“The working class and the employing class have nothing in common. There can be no peace so long as hunger and want are found among millions of the working people and the few, who make up the employing class, have all the good things of life. Between these two classes a struggle must go on until the workers of the world organize as a class, take possession of the means of production, abolish the wage system, and live in harmony with the Earth. … Instead of the conservative motto, ‘A fair day’s wage for a fair day’s work’, we must inscribe on our banner the revolutionary watchword, ‘Abolition of the wage system.’ It is the historic mission of the working class to do away with capitalism”

The Wobblies with their firm believe in organizing the most oppressed were able to organize immigrants, people of color, and women long before any union and political party were able to do so.  Their grassroots organizing outlook allowed them to do mass work and education.  However, because of the strength of the state, they were broken down through means of brute force.

In today’s framework, with layoffs in the millions and unemployment already reaching 10%, Workers are looking for solutions.  It is up to Trade Unions to fight with revolutionary militancy to protect and promote worker’s rights, defend workers movements from any reform unions that are in cahoots with the state and corporations to water down the militancy of workers, heighten the political consciousness through series of education and discussions, to empower the worker to participate in their struggle, and last to ensure international solidarity with workers and people’s of the world.  Where can you find a union like that today?  In the Philippines, Kilusang Mayo Uno (The May First Movement) Exists to do exactly that.

Many rights we have today were due to the hard fought labor struggles of the past.  What rights will be won in the future because we decided to act today?

First Lady oversees kiddie sharecroppers.

Faux News Press (FNP)_Washington DC:  Jake Giesenthal, who covers the White House for FNP, reports that Michelle Obama was so pleased with the organic crop being brought in by her Washington, D.C.  “Kiddie Share-Kropper Korps” that she planned to “treat” the kids to a trip to Cuba. The cost of this trip will be paid from Mrs. Obama’s private funds.

According to several usually reliable sources, the “southeast forty” section of the White House lawn has produced so abundantly that a private combine operator was hired to “bring in the corn.” The bulk crops of peas, beans, potatoes, and the like, are being temporarily stored at a facility owned by the National Arboretum near New York Avenue, NE, Washington, D.C. and at a Department of Agriculture facility near Beltsville, MD.

Perishable goods are presently refrigerated and may be processed and bottled. There is talk around the White House, according to anonymous sources, of selling veggies under the White House label.

Many foreign embassies have been sent bushel baskets of fresh produce grown by the “Kiddie Korps,” as they are fondly termed at the White House.

The White House provided members of the White House Press with a news release that confirmed that the Kiddie Korps would be going to visit Cuba, as a guest of the Revolutionary Council of Cuba. The trip will be a rather lengthy one, as the kids will stay as guests of Cuba for two months. While it is in Cuba, the Washington D.C. Kiddie Share-Kropper Korps will be assigned to agricultural collectives where they will learn the latest techniques for “bringing in” sugar cane. They will participate fully in the work and share in the attendant rewards. As part of these rewards they will get to attend nightly gatherings where story-telling, dramatic re-enactments, songs, plays, and doctrines are joyfully interweaved.

A high White House official has informed Jake Giesenthal that the Kiddie Share-Kropper Korps will present to Barack and Michelle Obama an array of sugar-cane-based products, as well as some actual, luscious, Cuban sugar cane, at a gala “welcome home” party at the White House, hosted by Michelle and her husband.

Additionally, usually reliable sources state – strictly on the basis of anonymity – that some of the members of the Kiddie Share-Kropper Korps are being vetted for possible membership in the Rahm Emanuel Youth Korps.

According to Jake Giesenthal, famed Israeli media star, Gurli Gur, has affirmed that Binyamin Netanyahu is interested in having the Kiddie Share-Kropper Korps visit the Jewish state, as a guest of one of the many Israeli kibbutz. They would work and share the cultural experience. Mr. Netanyahu believes that this sort of cultural-exchange program would be good for both countries, according to Mr. Gur.

For those of us in the belly of the beast, we have a very specific responsibility to be internationalist.  But, one question that comes to mind is: how do we exercise this responsibility?  No doubt symbolic protests and demonstrations against the war, or against the invasion of Gaza by Israel, are important.  But is this deep enough?  Have we struck a nerve in the imperial centre through these processes?

Anti-war organizations are planning a fall campaign, but the question remains: is this enough?  Symbolic protests play a role in shifting public opinion against the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, but is there something missing?

Hopefully M1 will get into some of these questions during the tour, and folks can take a stab at it in the comments.

The primary goal of the United Socialist Movement of the Americas is to build a coalition of revolutionary political parties, activist groups, progressive organizations and social movements. The unequivocal goal of this coalition must be to drastically and comprehensively change the constitution of Canada, or to adopt a new constitution altogether.

The latter would be the preferred option, particularly if we hope to significantly diverge from the 18th Century political system that Canada inexplicably still maintains.

While some socialist currents claim that they are the “true socialists”, or even the only true socialists, the goal of the USMA is to eliminate this sectarianism in the pursuit of a revolution. At this point, it appears that none of the established revolutionary parties or organizations in Canada have made headway towards such a goal.

They have, however, individually built up their organizations to have some degree of viability on their own. While this is evident, it is also evident that a divided front will lose the class war. Sectarianism has emerged as the single greatest threat to the possibility of a revolution in North America.

It is important to remember what the revolutionary program of the USMA stands for: constitutional change to usher in a new political system. This political system (and thus the constitution) will have as its basic principles eco-socialism, feminism, liberty, democracy, peace, and internationalism.

The exact dynamics of the future Canadian socialist society will be crafted by the work done within and by the revolutionary coalition. It will not be a specific doctrine, like “Trotskyism”, “Maoism” or “anarchism” that will come to power. Such squabble over labels distorts the true goal of the revolution, which will not be to glorify one particular revolutionary or another. The goal is to unite all those who seek to draft a new constitution based on the above-noted principles. This constitution will be the vehicle of the revolution, not the revolution itself.

When the conquest by the revolutionary coalition of political power and the subsequent adoption of a new constitution comes to pass, it will be the time to truly initiate the revolution. Organized workers will seize their workplaces, demanding their newly-constitutionally recognized right to run the means of production democratically, and the workers’ state will ensure that this right is upheld.

It would be a mistake to compensate the capitalists by having the workers’ state “buy them out” – such a move would only serve to recognize the imaginary entitlement to dictatorially run a workplace and to hoard the wealth therein produced known as “private property”. A socialist constitution will not perpetuate the Divine Right of Kings that characterizes capitalism.

A system of direct, community-based democracy has already been established as a goal of the USMA alongside the proletarian conquest of economic power. It would be ludicrous to expect direct democracy to spontaneously spring out of the Canadian population as soon as the revolution is initiated, and thus such a system will come into being as the revolution progresses.

Herein we are presented with both contradictions and questions – primarily, what will be the exact function of a federal workers’ state when all decisions are made locally? Also, if the goal is for the revolutionary coalition to seize power in usher in a new constitution, what will become of the capitalist parties (Liberal, Conservative, NDP, Green, etc.)?

The first question is easily answered. The new constitution will proscribe to the federal workers’ state the paramount duty to defend the nation against foreign aggressors and to prevent an anti-democratic counter-revolution. Otherwise, this revolution, done in the spirit of liberty, will constitutionally enshrine the maximization of civil and human rights. All restrictions on human behaviour that does not harm another or compromise the rights of another will be exterminated, and such sentiment upheld by a constitution-minded Supreme Court.

Thus, for those who wonder whose discretion it will be at to regulate gay marriage, abortion, or whatever right-wing red herring happens to be the particular issue at hand, the answer is “nobody”. The new workers’ state will not be there to paternalistically run the lives of the nation the way contemporary “democracies” do.

Democracy, then, will exist at the local level, and the decisions made will be mostly economic in nature.

The second question, on the other hand, requires far more consideration – indeed, it requires a separate article.

Statement of Revolutionary Initiative

Since the earliest days, proletarian internationalism has been a central pillar of the international communist movement.  Communists carry a line among the people that workers have no homeland, that national borders do not determine a community of interest.  The common interests of all workers is based on our class and all workers, regardless of their nation, have a common interest in the  struggle against capitalism and for a socialist future.

However, various counter-revolutionary ideologies, such as revisionism, petty bourgeois nationalism and cultural nationalism have attempted to obscure this basic truth.  They have in various ways hindered the development of internationalism amongst the working class and worked to prop up the imperialist ruling class.  As a collective operating in an imperialist country founded on settler colonialism, it is essential that Revolutionary Initiative understand its role in the international movement and work effectively to propagate internationalism amongst the working class and its allies.

This document will attempt to increase our understanding on this central element of revolutionary struggle by analysing how proletarian internationalism has been practised throughout the history of the International Communist Movement, the special duties for revolutionaries operating in imperialist countries, and the principles and priorities for the Canadian movement in particular.

History and Development of Proletarian Internationalism

Proletarian internationalism is best summed up in the concluding slogan of the Communist Manifesto: “Workers of all countries, unite!”  Proletarian internationalism is the reciprocal help between all revolutionary peoples to promote the development of world revolution and defeat of imperialism.  While respecting the independence of other revolutionary movements, this form of internationalism opposes narrow nationalism and narrow patriotism, which is blind to class contradictions.

The examples of the three Communist Internationals and how proletarian internationalism was interpreted during these periods are crucial to our understanding of this concept and how to practice it.  The Internationals were important instruments to promote proletarian ideology, create genuine Communist Parties, and support revolutionary movements, especially the fledgling Soviet republic and other anti-fascist and anti-colonial movements.  They were also important forums for the exchange of experience and debates on questions in order to help advance revolutionary theory and practice.  However, the Comintern became an instrument that attempted to direct struggle in one part of the world from another part.  This error was fatal for more than a few comrades who lost their lives carrying out erroneous lines, such as in China before the rise of Mao.  In some cases, as with Canada, the line of the Comintern was distorted by local revisionist forces to implement a liquidationist line from which the Party never recovered.

The first multilateral forum for proletarian internationalism was established with the founding of the First International.  At the time, proletarian ideology was still in the process of formation and much of the proletarian movement was driven by utopian  socialism, anarchism, and other petty bourgeois ideologies.  Marx and Engels were the first to develop a genuinely proletarian ideology, one that was based on a scientific understanding of socialism and class struggle.  They used the First International to promote their ideas to the proletariat of Europe and around the world.

The Second International was formed in 1882, with Engels playing a prominent role.  By the 1900s, Marxism was the dominant ideology in the working class movement.  However, the rise of Marxism was closely followed by the rise of classical revisionism.  Important “Marxists” such as Bernstein sold out the proletarian movement and joined the bourgeois state in the name of “peaceful evolution” as the path to socialism.  Kautsky at first defended Marxism but eventually joined the ranks of the revisionists, voting in favour of the war budgets of World War I and defending colonialism.  These and other betrayals marked the death of the Second International.

With a backdrop of the Second International supporting the war efforts of their national bourgeoisie and/or feudal monarchs and attempting to convince millions of workers to go to their deaths in the interests of the “fatherland”, Lenin and other genuine Marxists such as Rosa Luxembourg launched a relentless ideological struggle against their national-chauvinist positions.  Lenin argued that a new international group was needed to coordinate the movement, that it was necessary to:

“create a really centralised and really leading centre capable of directing the international tactics of the revolutionary proletariat in its struggle for a world Soviet republic. It should be clearly realised that such a leading centre can never be built up on stereotyped, mechanically equated, and identical tactical rules of struggle. As long as national and state distinctions exist among peoples and countries—and these will continue to exist for a very long time to come, even after the dictatorship of the proletariat has been established on a world-wide scale—the unity of the international tactics of the communist working-class movement in all countries demands, not the elimination of variety of the suppression of national distinctions (which is a pipe dream at present), but an application of the fundamental principles of communism (Soviet power and the dictatorship of the proletariat), which will correctly modify these principles in certain particulars, correctly adapt and apply them to national and national-state distinctions.”  (Lenin, Left-Wing Communism, An Infantile Disorder)

The success of the Russian Revolution created a new revolutionary centre by proving the strength of revolutionary Marxism and gave the international proletariat the resources and liberated territory capable of hosting a new International.  The Third Communist International (Comintern) provided a platform for the reorientation of the Communist movement and for the development of genuine proletarian internationalism.  Two of the initial and primary tasks of the Comintern was to rebuild genuine Communist Parties across the world and to defend he newly founded Soviet republic, which faced aggression from the capitalist nations.

Lenin, in writing the admission requirements for the Comintern, fiercely advocated for a form of central democracy within the International.
“All decisions of the Communist International’s congresses and of its Executive Committee are binding on all affiliated parties. Operating in conditions of acute civil war, the Communist International must be far more centralised than the Second International was. It stands to reason, however, that in every aspect of their work the Communist International and its Executive Committee must take into account the diversity of conditions in which the respective parties have to fight and work, and adopt decisions binding on all parties only on matters in which such decisions are possible.” (Lenin, Terms of Admission into Communist International)

Moreover, it is clear that Communists understood that while centralism was an important factor, there was also the necessity to understand that Communist Parties must pay heed to their specific conditions in determining lines and tactics.

While the Comintern played a positive role in reorienting the ICM, the problems associated with applying democratic centralism to a multilateral body gradually became more and more apparent.  During the early years, the emphasis on international unity and discipline were necessary in order to drag the International Communist Movement out of the cesspool of revisionism and to consolidate genuinely revolutionary Communist Parties.  However, during the 1930s and WWII the situation became increasingly complex, such that it became impossible for individual Parties to find the solutions to their problems by taking direction from a multilateral body.  The Comintern recognized this situation and dissolved itself in 1943.

“The entire course of events for the past quarter of a century, as well as the accumulated experiences of the Communist International, have convincingly proved that the organizational form of uniting the workers as chosen be the First Congress of the Communist International, which corresponded to the needs of the initial period of rebirth of the labor movement, more and more outlived itself in proportion to the growth of this movement and increasing complexity of problems in each country, and that this form even became a hindrance to the further strengthening of the national workers’ parties.” (Executive Committee of the Comintern, Dissolution of the Communist International)

The experience of the Communist Party of China illustrates this problem.  Prior to the seventh congress of the International in 1935, the International tried to intervene in and direct the CPC with disastrous results.  The Comintern had pushed a strategic line that was inappropriate for the semi-colonial semi-feudal conditions present in China, with the result that tens of thousands of Communists were killed by reactionary forces.  It was not until the rise of Mao Zedong that the correct strategy was applied, often in defiance of the recommendations Comintern.

Speaking about the International upon its liquidation in 1943, Mao stated that the need for such a body had passed:

“What is needed now is the strengthening of the national Communist Party of each country, and we no longer need this international leading centre… The internal situation in each country and the relations between the different countries are more complicated than they have been in the past and are changing more rapidly. It is no longer possible for a unified international organization to adapt itself to these extremely complicated and rapidly changing circumstances. Correct leadership must grow out of a detailed analysis of these conditions, and this makes it even more necessary for the Communist Party of each country to undertake this itself.” (Mao, The Comintern Has Long Ceased to Meddle in Our Internal Affairs)

After the rise of modern revisionism led by Khrushchev and especially with the start of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, China emerged as a new revolutionary centre but of a new type.  While the Maoists engaged in vigorous struggle against modern revisionism on the international level, they did not believe it was possible or desirable to have a single revolutionary centre to give direction to the various Parties of the world.  Permanent delegations from Parties from all over the world were hosted in Beijing, but rather than establish a democratic centralist multilateral body, the CPC pushed the principal of equality of all Parties, regardless of their size, regardless of if they held state power or not.  Any multilateral resolutions were to be based on voluntary consensus, with Parties being free to not sign if deemed to be unacceptable or sign with reservations noted.  The Maoists realized that democratic centralism is not appropriate for a multilateral body, as it will inevitably result either in splitting the movement whenever differences emerged or the imposition of a line that was contrary to the democratic will of the members of a national Party.  While international discussion, coordination and cooperation is still important for the development of the world wide revolutionary struggle, the terms under which these take place must take into account these post-Comintern principles.

Proletarian Internationalism in Imperialist Countries

The Comintern grew out of the experience of Marxist parties taking reactionary, opportunist positions regarding the mass slaughter of millions of people during World War I so as to sustain the economies of the ruling class at that time.  It is critical then to understand the reasons behind the rise of opportunism and the correctness of Lenin’s position on the work of Communists within imperialist countries.  Lenin made it clear that comrades working in the heart of imperialism had special duties:

“Parties in countries whose bourgeoisie possess colonies and oppress other nations must pursue a most well-defined and clear-cut policy in respect of colonies and oppressed nations. Any party wishing to join the Third International must ruthlessly expose the colonial machinations of the imperialists of its “own” country, must support—in deed, not merely in word—every colonial liberation movement, demand the expulsion of its compatriot imperialists from the colonies, inculcate in the hearts of the workers of its own country an attitude of true brotherhood with the working population of the colonies and the oppressed nations, and conduct systematic agitation among the armed forces against all oppression of the colonial peoples.” (Lenin, Terms of Admission into Communist International)

To combat opportunism and reaction within our movements, it is necessary to constantly struggle against nationalist tendencies and lines within movements in imperialist countries.  As noted by Lenin, “social-chauvinism is consummated opportunism”, which is a serious problem in our context due to the dominance of labour aristocratic organizations.

Carrying out a nationalist line for revolutionaries in imperialist countries is unacceptable and dangerous, as history has demonstrated time and time again as it will inevitably result in the betrayal of the revolution.  We must constantly improve our methods of carrying out internationalist work in an effective way towards building a genuine mass based anti-imperialist movement.

Priorities and Directions For Our Movement

Given the historical lessons of the International Communist Movement, we can extract certain priorities and specific tasks for our movement.

1 – Mutual support and respect between people’s movements.

As with our work amongst the people of Canada, we have a duty to be humble in our practice and respectful in our approach towards comrades from other movements.  Certainly, this does not mean that we should not analyse particular struggles and weaknesses and offer criticisms as needed.  The size of a given Party cannot be taken as proof that it has the correct line.  Smaller Parties with a correct line can expand rapidly, while larger Parties may adopt an incorrect line and wither away.  However it should be clear that all relations are conducted in the spirit of learning from and supporting the development of other movements.

We must also defend the anti-imperialist movements in Latin America, Palestine and other regions where there are heroic battles being waged for national liberation.  Just as Marx supported the Afghan monarchy against the British and Mao expressed his support for anti-imperialist movements in Africa and Latin America without requiring a unity along Marxist-Leninist lines, neither should we be so myopic as to discard important struggles against imperialism because we do not have ideological unity.  We should promote those struggles and defend the right of national liberation and self-determination to the masses and seek unity on an anti-imperialist basis.

We should also seek to relate to the Maoist forces within those movements, with whom we can achieve a higher level of unity.

2 – Promote advanced and especially exemplary struggles with different kinds of support based on different kinds of unity.

As revolutionaries, we have a duty to support the people’s struggle everywhere.  It is essential to the healthy development of our movement within an imperialist country.  However, as Marxist-Leninist-Maoists we also have a duty to further support and uphold the struggles of the most advanced movements where our comrades have attained successes so that further breakthroughs can be attained.  History has shown that every breakthrough has been followed by a wave of advance for the entire global revolutionary movement.  As Che Guevara said “A victory against imperialism by anyone is a victory for everyone.”  Every victory serves to expose and weaken imperialism internationally.

An exemplary movement is defined by the following features: proletarian leadership and ideology, a strategic orientation towards socialism and communism, and being the vanguard of a revolutionary movement.  In the current world situation, the revolutionary movements and struggles most in need of our support are in the Philippines, Nepal, and India.  We must promote their victories among the masses, defend their gains against imperialist attack, and expose their movements to the people in Canada.

3 – Internationalism must be a part of all work.

Our internationalism has to become ingrained in all aspects of our work.  It should not be relegated to something that is done only at the Party to Party level.  It must be part of our propaganda, education and work at every level.  All workers must come to know each other as comrades in struggle, regardless of their nationality.  Proletarian internationalism must be practised in every level of relationship: Party to Party, sector to sector, and people to people.
Along these lines, it is also important to build solidarity between peoples organizations in different countries as a way of strengthening ties and bonds between people in struggle through common campaigns or any other form of building unity.

4 – Expose Canadian imperialism at every turn.

Canada is an imperialist country and the state represents the interests of the ruling class of Canada: the imperialist bourgeoisie.  Canadian imperialism extends its dominance militarily, through active participation in aggressive military operations and coalitions (occupation of Afghanistan and Haiti, ‘peacekeeping’ in the Balkans and other regions, training of foreign reactionary police and military forces, membership in NATO, NORAD, etc.) and through international financial organizations and inter-imperialist cooperative bodies (WTO, IMF, G8 etc.).  Canadian monopolies are active in all corners of the World, exploiting people and land wantonly and actively repressing resistance.  Canadian firms work with the Canadian state, local reactionaries, and NGOs to recruit migrant labour and to pacify and repress the people in the semi-colonial countries.

Canada is not participating in these areas due to coercion by other imperialists or the misguided notions of this or that politician.  We must actively expose the Canadian state as an imperial power and Canadian monopoly capitalism as imperialism.  Canadian imperialists act in their own interest and against the interests of the working class and its allies, both at home and abroad.  We must combat, in deed, not only  imperialist military interventions but also its other aspects, such as its work through international trade, NGOs, agencies, foreign relations and diplomacy.

5 – Combat bourgeois nationalism and national chauvinism within the working class and its allies.

There is a strong tendency within the leftist groups in Canada to appeal to nationalism and to paint the Canadian state as essentially good, but misled or dominated by American imperialism.  These elements push for subsidies to the bourgeoisie and react negatively to discussions about sovereignty for the Aboriginal peoples.  In Canada there can be no progressive or revolutionary nationalism as our social and economic system is imperialist and the general political line of the revolution is socialism and communism.

These tendencies are destructive to our goal of creating a revolutionary movement that works with and supports other revolutionary movements around the world.  This form of nationalism serves to separate the interests of workers here with workers elsewhere in the world and objectively strengthens the imperialist bourgeoisie.  We must not only work to support national liberation struggles abroad, but also work to support self-determination for the Aboriginal peoples.  We must also look to promote Marxist-Leninist-Maoist ideology and organization amongst the ranks of the Aboriginal peoples.
In all of this, we must remember to beware of ultra-leftism and sectarianism when carrying out our work amongst the people.  Building an anti-imperialist revolutionary movement will be a gradual process based on consolidating the most advanced, winning over the majority, and isolating the reactionaries.  This will take place in every arena of struggle, including within yellow working class organizations and reactionary institutions.
