By Sam Harvey

Many people may have heard the phrase “viral” related to different types of marketing and wonder what a number of them are, but specifically what exactly is viral advertising? Well, the simple answer to the question is that this kind of product marketing is a type of advertising, which deals mainly with all the infiltration in the Internet, with advertisements, logos, and critical product placement in a fashion that will easily entice people to buy their products.
The thought behind virus-like marketing is that if you can get the product up throughout multiple places on the web and in front of as quite a few eyes as you possibly can for only a small amount money as possible, you are doing some really good marketing on the budget. With the companies behind this kind of promotion tend to be smaller businesses that just want to get the name out about their merchandise but don’t have the money to employ a public relations firm or purchase advertising.
One of the more effective methods of viral marketing is always to form a three way partnership with an additional business. While you’ve got the product, your JV partner may bring his customer content listing of thousands as well as his advertising skills to the project. In most cases a JV may benefit both parties involved with an equivalent split with the profits and possibly the function.
Another type of getting your product, to race round the internet globe, is to build an affiliate marketer program with 100s of individuals and business promoting your product. The difference between any JV and an affiliate, is the affiliate will only get paid a share of each individual sale personally made by them.
If you intend to get to the nitty-gritty of what is viral marketing, then you should realize that it’s something anyone with a laptop or computer and a little bit of technological savvy can do. First of most, using web 2 . 0 sites just like Facebook or perhaps MySpace can be a fairly ingenious method of getting your products or services out to the public. You can setup a internet site, get all of the relevant information listed in your homepage, and then add friends.
Theoretically, just adding whoever for a profile isn’t going to be worth it as they’re likely seeking to connect using friends and won’t want to consider your product. The fastest way to marketplace yourself is to look with the MySpace groups and locate those along with similar interests. Say that you are a author marketing a brand new book. Adding other writers isn’t going to get you a whole lot of customers, but adding people who are fans of your genre, well, that’s a different story.
Some virus-like marketing ideas include sending out chain letters with information about your item buried within a story that urges individuals to continue resending the letter to all their friends. This is a decent concept, but if you use the chain letter to try to collect money for something which doesn’t or can be found or run a scam for a business, then that is certainly fraud and it is a crime. You have to be careful and be sure that you aren’t smashing any laws and regulations.
Now that you have an step to the query of what’s viral advertising and marketing, you also needs to know that using viral marketing plans an excessive amount of can trigger some issues. If persons feel there’re being slammed by the product, then you will find many of your prospects turned off by your aggressiveness.
Just understand that you’re hoping to get the word out as well as tell men and women about your idea without being too pushy and you shound simply be fine.

This has been a multi-week look at marketing your shop or site on the internet. I have been trying to drive traffic to my site(s) for over 10 years and have used all of these methods at one time or another with varying degrees of success.

What I can say about many of these methods is that at one point or another, I believe they worked. Some worked for a while and as internet tastes and practices changed, no longer brought in the traffic they once did. Others have always worked. Some are hit or miss. In other words, they may work when you use them with a particular site (such as paying a site for advertising space), then not work on others.

The smart marketing campaign includes elements of all of the above. I am a firm believer in not putting all of your eggs in one basket. This is certainly true here. No matter what avenues you choose to market your site, you can count on one thing, you will have to invest both time and money.

The effects of this can be seen as detrimental to freedom of expression and can even be said to shape mass public consciousness. Of course all of this takes place in the quest for capital. Exploitation of anyone and everything to the grow business, every strata from race to gender to culture to age to sexual orientation to body-type appears to suffer through this model. It could be wondered then, can any external benefits be seen in a corporate mass produced media system? Are the harms of corporate media inescapable? If so, is it wrong to simply shut-up and enjoy the entertainment and technology placed in front of us?

If you laugh at an advertisement, are informed by marketing, or drawn to a new useful brand through product placement is there a problem? Is it only when a product proves useless that this media model is bad? It is only when views other than our own are conveyed that mass media becomes a threat? Where is the line? Subjectively, would not every advertisement or program appeal to someone somewhere at some time?

Or is media at large the problem? Is there no good whatsoever in any sort of large influential conglomeration of views streamlined from one source to the mass whatever the intentions? Was life better before industrialization, development and globalization? Was the system better when entertainment appeared exclusively in the form of telling of stories or playing music amongst small social or familial groups? I cannot say as (without the luxury of a time machine) I cannot speak for anyone but myself – my views subjectively serving only myself.

With no conceivable way to facilitate a mass break from the corporate system short of the strategies seen in “Fight Club”, what can even be done if the system really is so (subjectively) bad for everyone? It all appears hopeless. From an academic perspective, it is indeed important to understand the concerns associated with any phenomenon and important to remain flexible to all perspectives. In the scheme of things apathy regarding the power and effect of media is an easy choice and it may even be the right choice. Although this idea is also subject to the subjectivity of the reader.

I saw a bicycle helmet cover today along the lines of the above trend-centric number. The company that makes this one is called Yakkay (link above).

Before today I had no idea “fashion” covers of this kind even existed, which made me start wondering about how one might go about marketing a product like this.

A super fashionable helmet cover markets itself to a degree. The vain, super self-conscious and fashion-forward (or trendy) folks are going to find this stuff on their own.

Not that long ago (or, before the Internet era) television commercials and a heavy run of print ads would have been needed to jump start awareness and sales, but now a strategic Internet presence, some business savvy and a bunch of friends spread out all over do the trick.

I imagine the company that makes the above cover has spent some money on marketing, but I would wager that their budget is a fraction of what it might have been and they have spent at least 80% of their marketing monies in Internet arenas.

Certain products attract certain types of people. It has always been that way. The only real change is that it is cheaper, easier and more fun than ever to raise the necessary awareness your product needs in order to find its way to its natural consumer.

Search Engine Optimization often works for a keyword or group of keywords that are closely related.

Search Engine Optimization often works for a keyword or group of keywords that are closely related. There may be, however, a whole category of words and phrases that your site doesn’t appear under when searched. Remember that it is tough to be all things to all people. You will inevitably have to decide on the most important words and phrases for SEO purposes and abandon many in favor of creating a page that displays high on certain search words. That’s where pay per click services offered by most search engines come in.

Site owners can setup an account that allows you to specify certain keywords to display a link to your site when searched. If a person clicks on your link and goes to your page, you agree to pay the specified amount. Clearly this can add up fast. Often clicks cost between $0.10 and $1.00 depending on the popularity. You are, however, allowed to specify a budget in most cases. Monthly charges can be as little as $30 on major search engines like Google.

In addition to displaying your ad when someone searches, sites like Google also sponsor ads right on privately operated web sites. You can display an ad for your site on a web site that has related content. When someone clicks on your advertisement, a portion of the click cost goes to Google. A portion also goes to the site where the ad was shown.

Google and other search sites have (like Facebook) done a good job of displaying relevant advertising to perspective clients. They also provide methods by which to track the clicks that actually purchase or take some action on your site. So, you can more accurately evaluate what methods and sites are providing useful leads for you and adjust your advertising campaign accordingly.

Advertisers MUST be able to measure advertising dollars, brand awareness and impressions on all mediums. This need is the driving force for internet advertising because of it highly engaging and measurable nature. This morning I read a press release about a company I am following for my corporate communications class. Two of WPP‘s market research firms, GroupM and Nielson, are working together to develop a cross-platform measurement tool. Rino Scanzoni, GroupM’s Chief Investment Officer stated, ”Our advertiser clients increasingly recognize that traditional television advertising and online video advertising must work together.” For cross-platform advertising to work effectively and efficiently, it needs to be measured against each other.Media planning and buying are currently split between the different platforms, which makes it hard to evaluate and plan for future campaigns. This tool is being developed specifically to aid in the media departments of WPP’s ad agencies to streamline advertising and marketing efforts.

“Cross-platform metrics are essential to both buyers and sellers of advertising,” said Steve Hasker, president of Media Products and Advertiser Solutions for Nielsen. “Every day, we’re hearing from advertisers, online publishers, TV networks and agencies that a better system of measurement is required. Through working closely with GroupM and others in the industry we believe we can help create best practices that will benefit the entire ecosystem.”

That would have been awesome. Well it didn’t happen that way. And that’s marvellous. You might wonder what I’m trying to say. Well this person had been in news for all the wrong reasons and the best of inventions. But has he ever been for the right reason? I don’t get to feel that way having gone through many articles written about him. But I sincerely would recommend a person of this calibre to develop on working on with their inventions on spirituality. Jesus and Father God had better means to network with people. Steve Jobs too had deepened his knowledge in this sphere of life. But the result is not always perfect. Has it been put to best use possible? One of the most prominent distraction it could be considered. Networking is what the Lord wanted. Networking for prayer and worship. For togetherness and peace. I hear people talking about Steve and his company even after his death. Had he been inspired by God, Apple would have been a paradise on earth for most. But last few moments on earth would have been definitely not so good. Did anyone show the affection and love that he would have wanted to receive in his life through that same invention of his team of people. He would have definitely considered that as the worst of his inventions, misuse of his time and his life. He would have definitely loved much the presence of his loved and near ones by his bed side. Not his world acclaimed staff. Use technology, but for networking with the glorifying means, that was iniated by Jesus.

After two years of looking internally to fill vacancies, companies in 2011 again began to hire new w

After two years of looking internally to fill vacancies, companies in 2011 again began to hire new workers, relying on referrals and job boards for nearly 50 percent of their external hires.

Social media, though it accounted for only 3.5 percent of those external hires, evidences a much greater impact on hiring than the numbers would suggest, influencing candidates whose hiring ends up being attributed to other sources.

These are but a few of the findings in the just released 2012 CareerXroads Sources of Hire survey. Conducted now for a decade by the talent consultancy of Gerry Crispin and Mark Mehler, the annual survey queries the recruiting leaders of America’s largest companies about where they source the hires they make. Additional questions touch on emerging trends.

While Crispin and Mehler caution that the results reflect only the hiring practices of the participating companies, the survey has come to be an industry standard, occupying the top Google results for “source of hire,” and is one of the tools recruiters use in developing their own recruiting strategy.

This year’s survey found that in 2011 the 36 participating companies, which collectively have 1.2 million employees, filled 59 percent of their 213,375 openings externally. It’s a dramatic change from the last two years when half the openings were filled by internal transfers and promotions.

The 18.5 percent drop from 2010, says Crispin, “helps to confirm we are coming out of a recession. It confirms the data we’ve seen this last year.” Still far below 2007 when 72 percent of hires came from outside — “a very hot year,” he notes — it now “looks like we’re getting back to the historic balance.”

Where companies find their new workers hasn’t been changed by either the recession or the recent economic improvement. Referrals accounted for 28 percent of the external hires last year, a percentage largely unchanged over the years. As big a number as that is, it’s probably an undercount, says Crispin.

Somewhat more volatile — the likely result of more sophisticated tracking — is the percentage of hires coming from job boards. Last year, workers who first applied via a job board were 20.1 percent of the external hires.

Like the referral count, job boards almost certainly should be credited with a larger role in hiring.

“In many, maybe most, hiring, there are multiple influencers,” says Crispin. “The companies are getting better at tracking, but there are more things going on than are trackable.”

A few weeks ago, CareerXroads published a survey on employee referral practices, which suggested that referrals have a much greater impact than the direct counts suggest.

In the source of hire survey, Crispin and Mehler asked recruiting leaders their opinion on the influence of some recruiting channels. As they anticipated, referrals, social media, company career sites, and job boards (among other channels) are believed by the responding leaders to play reciprocal and influencing roles in the recruiting process.

“These are all underlying influencers. They don’t necessarily funnel candidates, but they help lead them to next steps,” says Cripsin, offering this scenario:

A job seeker goes to a job board and sees a job at a company where they previous worked. Now the job board has alerted somebody who used to work there. They go to the company site, because that’s where the posting sends them. But they call a friend who still works there, and the friend makes a referral, because the company pays a bonus.

The source of hire gets listed as ‘referral.’

A job board, says Crispin, “is really a lead; an alert. What do you do with an alert? You go back to the career (center) board.” So, he adds, even though the survey attributes 9.8 percent of the hires to company career sites, “most of them got there some other way. That’s why we asked about the influencers.”

Recruiting leaders told Crispin and Mehler that they believe social media, like job boards, plays a role in many of the sources of hire. For instance, 75 percent of the respondents say job boards influence the hires attributed to company career sites. Social media also exerts an influence on the career sites, say 62.5 percents of the respondents. And, as in Crispin’s scenario, career sites, social media, and job boards influence referrals.

Of the job boards the survey asked about, Indeed and CareerBuilder turned out to be the most effective. A third of the respondents said CareerBuilder yields between 25 and 50 percent of their job board hires; 9.1 percent said they get as many as 75 percent of their job board hires there.

Indeed, which aggregates jobs from tens of thousands of sites, was every bit as strong a source of job board hires; 32.2 percent of the recruiting leaders reported the site yielded 25-50 percent of their job board hires. Cumulatively, just under 84 percent of the respondents said they got from 1-50 percent of their job board hires from Indeed.

Dice, a niche site specializing in IT positions, was also a strong source of hires, with 58.6 percent of the companies filling up to 10 percent of their positions from Dice. Even Craigslist, a highly local listings site, was cited as a source of hire by nearly 50 percent of the respondents.

Many, perhaps even most, of the hires coming from job boards are the result of job seekers applying to ads. More than two-thirds of the respondents (68.6 percent) said more hires are made from postings than from resume searching. Only 5.7 percent said they make more hires by searching the resume database than by posting jobs.

That’s a significant difference from how recruiters use LinkedIn. There, searching profiles to source candidates has a greater impact than posting jobs, conducting marketing campaigns or company pages.

Search engine optimization or SEO is the hottest way to drive targeted traffic to your website. Maximizing the benefits of a well optimized website will yield lots of earnings for the marketer. However, optimizing your site might cost you thousands of dollars if you are not skilled in this area.

But to tell you the truth, you can essentially get information on low cost SEO anywhere in the Internet. But only several really show you how to work out an affordable search engine optimization endeavor. And those few that really inform include this article.

1. Link exchanges

One cheap SEO method that can get you best results is through link exchanges or linking to and from other web sites. Depending on the websites that you would like to exchange links with, this tool could even cost you nothing at all. Contact the author or owner of the web site you want to have a link exchange with. You will be surprised with the eventual spiking up of your page ranking using this means of getting your website optimized.

2. Write or acquire keyword rich articles

Writing truly informative and keyword-rich articles is one surefire way to make your Internet business more visible than ever. It’s either you write your own articles or you get them from article directories that allow you to post these articles on your website as long as you keep the resource box or the author’s byline in tact. Just don’t stuff your articles with keywords that even idiots would get bore of reading them. The readability and freshness of your articles will still be the basis of whether your writers will keep on coming back to your website or not.

3. Catchy Domain Name

What better will make your target visitors remember your website but with a very easy-to-recall domain name. Something sweet and short will prove to be very invaluable. Registering your domain name is not for free. But creativity is.

4. Organize your site navigation

Providing easy steps in navigating your site is one way to make your visitors become at ease with your site. This, in turn, will improve the flow of traffic to your website.

Low cost SEO is always evolving like any other approach in information technology. There are many methods that can very well land you on the top ten rankings of Google or on any other search engines. Some may cost a lot but there are methods that can give you the same results at a low price or you can even do on your own such as those mentioned above.

The three issues that continue to befuddle digital ‘brand’ campaign planners are:

1. Is my ad unit actually being watched? Does the ad even load? Does the viewer see the ad, even if it is for a brief fleeting moment?

2. Geo targeting – how reliable is it?

3. Where exactly, or rather what is the environment where my ad is running?

comScore’s Validated Campaign Essentials provides the answers to these huge questions.

Read the full article here:

http://www.comscore.com/Press_Events/Press_Releases/2012/1/comScore_Introduces_Validated_Campaign_Essentials

The IAB and other advertising bodies in the advertising industry have developed a completely new definition of what a display impression is – one that is loaded fully and is in full view for at least one second. From being just a definition, to being put into practice is another 9 months. In January 2013, advertisers and agencies will actually ask for server logs that define the fully loaded impression data rather than an ad server report that shows mere request data. And the former will then become the basis for payments!

When will this hit India? The sooner the better…but with just one rider – let everybody also take into account an increase by about 50% on CPM rates for fully loaded impressions.

Best,

Are you constantly banging your head in frustration on not receiving all the internet traffic you would like to get to your web site? Are you tormented from information overload listening to all the latest free website traffic tactics and not being able to understand any of it? Are you dejected of people trying day and night to harassing you to max out your credit card and get loans for Google clicks, and in the process loose your credit score? Are you stupefied by the way your website just dropped out of the Google search results? Or are you just too broke and all you have to rely on is getting some free website traffic tactics?

You can employ website traffic tactics without spending Time. However, knowing how is the real deal. Here’s the score:

1. Link it

Of all the effective website traffic tactics that can get you best results, linking to and from other websites is the one of the most widely-used method. Just make sure that the Internet business you are exchanging links with is relatively if not utterly related to your own business. And of course, don’t overkill as this might ban you from search engines.

2. Meet Meta Tags

Another way of to acquire your desired traffic for your website is through having your Meta tags contain usually used keywords that target your business. Meta tags help search engines in describing your web page. If you’re quite adept with the HTML aspect of your web pages, manipulating your meta tags would be a breeze.

3. Keyword-rich AND sensible content

Writing or acquiring articles that provide solid information regarding your business is one of the best ways. Making use of free keyword suggestion tools such as Overture will help you on which keyword or phrases to work on to better lead more traffic to your website. Making these write-ups very readable and genuinely informative will make you many repeat visitors to subsequently become repeat clients.

Submitting these articles to various article directory listings will provide more visibility for your business as long as you keep your resource box in tact to create for yourself numerous back links.

These methods, if employed properly, will not only make your web site popular but will make you achieve your most desirable result – higher conversion rate.

This is the granddaddy of them all. This is the one internet marketing avenue everyone wishes and strives to achieve. For those of you who don’t know what SEO is, basically, it is optimizing your web page so that when people search various search engines like Google and Yahoo, they get your site.

First thing you needs to understand is how a search engine finds your page and how it evaluates it. There is nowhere near enough manpower for a human to come to every site Google lists and take a look to figure out what it is about. So, a computer has to perform that task (the program is called a web crawler).

Now, contrary to popular belief, computers are stupid. They are only as smart as the programming (or instructions) given to them. So, they cannot take a look at your page and infer what it is about from the graphics or implications on the site. Really the only way a computer program has to determine what is on your page is to collect links and text, figure out what appears most frequent and then display it when those words are entered in a search.

So, you can see that it is very important to have the correct words appearing on your web page in order to steer people to it when those words are typed into a search engine. The truth is, all a search engine does is display pages that have words and phrases similar to the one you typed in.

Now, there are other criteria that a search site uses to determine which pages should be displayed first. This includes the number of hits on your page (page rank or PR to Google), how many other sites are linked to your site and some other things.

The long and the short of it is that if you have an optimized page, that displays to people when they type in related keywords, you will start getting traffic to your site without working too hard (after the initial work to get it there) and without much cost (actually any cost). That’s why this is the holy grail of internet marketing and why companies pay handsome sums to SEO professionals to get them to the top of search engine listings.

It seems like no one had to tell Gurbaksh Chahal that the early bird gets the worm. It simply did not apply in the waking up early sense but also starting out early in his entrepreneurial career. He has also been able to achieve success in a very short span of time.

In 1998, at the age of 16, he dropped out of high school and started his first venture, ClickAgents. This was an advertising network using performance-based advertising. In just two years Chahal sold the company to ValueClick for $40 million. He wasn’t even out of his teens yet.

This would have been a great story already but it was just a chapter in Chahal’s young life. In 2004, he started BlueLithium, another advertising company focusing on behavioral targeting of banner advertising. This involved following web users’ online habits so that ads shown to the users are those they will most likely respond to.

In 2007, BlueLithium was bought by Yahoo! for $300 million. Not bad for a 25 year old who only established the company barely three years ago. He then started a company called gWallet which dealt in the digital payment business.

In 2009, he formed his third internet advertising company this time specializing in the new area of real-time advertising. The company was re-branded as RadiumOne in 2010. It has been able to raise a serious amount of money through venture capital funding.

Chahal has appeared in the Oprah Winfrey Show in 2008. He has made other TV appearances. Success has come to him in such a short span of time. He was born on July 17, 1982 in Punjab, India. He was able to migrate to the U.S. when his parents were awarded U.S. visa through what is known as the Green Card Lottery. His parents were of humble means but this did not stop Chahal from achieving success at such an early age.

Both Chahal and America were lucky when his parents won in the Green Card Lottery.

SINGAPORE : Digital Marketing activities in Asia are expected to surge over the next two years due to higher use of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets.

Currently, less than 10 percent of Singapore‘s total advertising spend is used for online marketing but experts say advertising spending for Online Marketing may increase as much as 25 percent of the total pie.

They add that display ads, search engines and social media will be among the prominent digital advertising platforms.
More Asians are now wired up to the Internet.

It is estimated some 40 to 50 per cent of Asians can now access the Internet either through their computers or mobile devices. This compared to just about 25 percent with Internet access in the region about two years ago. However, this has not translated to higher digital advertising spend as of now.

Advertising experts say only about 10 to 15 per cent of advertising and marketing expenditures are spent on digital channels such as Facebook and Google. But they expect the figure to be more than double within the next two years.

CEO Worldwide at Saatchi & Saatchi, Kevin Roberts, said: “You’re gonna see a great deal of spending on the social network because social networks are how people are spending their lives and brands are big part of your life in Asia. They are part of your popular culture. The big brands are gonna spend a lot of money on search because you are gonna be upfront on the search engine or else you can be ignored.”

Market players say the challenge now is to get more advertisers hooked on the digital bandwagon. They say Asian advertisers still prefer traditional platforms like print and broadcast. However, they remain optimistic as more companies see value in digital advertising now.

Partner of Digital at Asia Pacific, Nick Seckold, said: “There’s a general trend in Asia right now. There’s a reluctance to really embrace this area, it’ll happen. We saw it happened in the UK four or five years ago to the point where the online advertising industry, is actually…more invested into online …so the Internet spending was more than television (advertising).”

Advertising firms say they are also changing their hiring trends to prepare for the expected growth in digital advertising. For some, the selection criteria now is based on how big a following an applicant can create through a Facebook page and not through his qualifications and work experience.

If webmasters want to monetize their websites, the great way to do it is through Adsense. There are lots of webmasters struggling hard to earn some good money a day through their sites. But then some of the “Geniuses” of them are enjoying hundreds of dollars a day from Adsense ads on their websites. What makes these webmasters different from the other kind is that they are different and they think out of the box.

The ones who have been there and done it have quite some useful tips to help those who would want to venture into this field. Some of these tips have boosted quite a lot of earnings in the past and is continuously doing so.

Here are some 5 proven ways on how best to improve your Adsense earnings.

1. Concentrating on one format of Adsense Ad. The one format that worked well for the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). This same format have the tendency to result in higher CTR, or the click-through rates. Why choose this format out of the many you can use? Basically because the ads will look like normal web links, and people, being used to clicking on them, click these types of links. They may or may not know they are clicking on your Adsense but as long as there are clicks, then it will all be for your advantage.

2. Create a custom palette for your ads. Choose a color that will go well with the background of your site. If your site has a white background, try to use white as the color of your ad border and background. The idea to patterning the colors is to make the Adsense look like it is part of the web pages. Again, This will result to more clicks from people visiting your site.

3. Remove the Adsense from the bottom pages of your site and put them at the top. Do not try to hide your Adsense. Put them in the place where people can see them quickly. You will be amazed how the difference between Adsense locations can make when you see your earnings.

4. Maintain links to relevant websites. If you think some sites are better off than the others, put your ads there and try to maintaining and managing them. If there is already lots of Adsense put into that certain site, put yours on top of all of them. That way visitor will see your ads first upon browsing into that site.

5. Try to automate the insertion of your Adsense code into the webpages using SSI (or server side included). Ask your web administrator if your server supports SSI or not. How do you do it? Just save your Adsense code in a text file, save it as “adsense text”, and upload it to the root directory of the web server. Then using SSI, call the code on other pages. This tip is a time saver especially for those who are using automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.

These are some of the tips that have worked well for some who want to generate hundreds and even thousands on their websites. It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.

Note also that there are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It is best to think of making a good ad that will be somewhat different and unique than the ones already done. Every clickthrough that visitors make is a point for you so make every click count by making your Adsense something that people will definitely click on.

Tips given by those who have boosted their earnings are just guidelines they want to share with others. If they have somehow worked wonders to some, maybe it can work wonders for you too. Try them out into your ads and see the result it will bring.

If others have done it, there is nothing wrong trying it out for yourself.

Browsing the internet today, I came across Google’s Project Re:Brief, an endeavor started this year to take some the world’s most successful and iconic ad campaigns and re-contextualize them for digital technology as a commemoration of the 18th anniversary of the internet (they never fully explain what makes 18 yrs special enough to “commemorate” it, but it’s Google and they can basically do whatever the fuck they want). The case study list is short and eclectic, giving the team a broad range for experimentation and implementation:

Volvo’s “Drive it like you hate it”

Alka-Seltzer’s “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing”

(see their 2002′s redux of the classic here)

Avis’s “We try harder” (a slogan that continues even today)

(and of course) Coke’s “I’d like to buy the world a Coke”

Taking some of our greatest campaigns and adapting it to today is no easy task – it opens itself up to criticism, skepticism and backlash. What I love about the project is that it’s more then just stretching it’s creative might as one of the world’s most innovative companies today; it’s trying to solve a digital advertising problem that has become more and more prevalent as our technological capabilities expand. As questioned in the project’s intro, how is it that digital advertising merely looks to inform the viewer rather then engage and entertain them. The interesting hurdles in digital advertising is that the product or brand has to explicitly compete for your attention as the user is in 100% complete control of the content.

Think about it: in television and radio, the medium directs your content, with allotted time for either advertising or shows/music; you can’t listen/watch them both at the same time. And while the audience always retains the opportunity to just change the channel, with about 1/3 of the entire broadcast being used for exclusively advertising, chances are they will just change to another commerical. Expound that on the fact that it takes a direct initiative to change the channel, advertising is able to capitalize on passive viewership. Now, in cases of magazines and printed materials, successful advertising works on the real estate of the viewing space. Quarter page ads, half pages, full pages, and spreads all work to define and take up the target audience’s viewing space so in that it absorbs 25%-100% of that viewing context. Advertising works to the benefit of the viewer as well – with longer articles and in-depth features, advertising actually colors the landscape with periodic and impacting breaks in a way that provides relief to magazine readers.

The results of digital advertising has been murky and convoluted as we wrestle with the need to engage the viewer in the content without being annoying and ineffective. The executions on doing this have been numerous with no clear winner surfacing: Some ads engage in petty flash games where they push you to shoot a target, answer a question, or spot a mistake (like a shitty dumbed-down puzzle from the back of a Highlights magazine.)

Other ads try to do the let-me-take-over-your-screen-every-time-you-accidentally-roll-over-me which oddly enough never gets me any more interested in their product/movie/brand. In most cases, many just have a simple passive ad that does little to engage the user in their content (which is probably of no issue to the user, but probably an issue for advertisers). The latest craze in digital advertising, isn’t even so much advertising as it is just faux-brand engagement through the use of contests, twitter feeds, blogs, and facebook pages (just as a side note, I never “like” brands, nor follow them on twitter as if they’re real people living in my neighborhood-that’s just fucking weird.) So it’s safe to say that on a whole, advertisers are still puzzled as hell in navigating the digital landscape and figuring out just the best way to integrate themselves in it.

Now that I’ve given you a run down on my opinion on the current situation, it’s time for you to check out Google’s end result for Coke and Volvo, with both cases using vastly different implementations. Honestly, visit the site and look through it, poke around and develop some opinions of your own. I’ll be posting my own critique on each in the following days, but I’m interested in hearing your first impressions!

Seriously. Do it. I’ll still be here when you come back. Go ahead. I’ll be here…waiting.

The jury on the social media sites as a marketing tool is still up in the air. Although I did talk

The jury on the social media sites as a marketing tool is still up in the air. Although I did talk about how well facebook allows you to target very specific demographics, when I refer to social media, I mean opening a ‘fan’ page and trying to get sales and exposure through it. I am not talking about paying the social media network for exposure.

Although it is fun to post all of your newest creations, products or updates on what you are doing, I have found that few (if any) people that stop by my online shop care enough to like my page on facebook. In addition, I have also found that very few of my followers on facebook take action when new items are posted for sale in the shop.

This may have to do with the fact that some people seem to ‘like’ just about anything on social media, it may stem from sites like facebook starting to filter the information that is presented to you based upon what you seem to have clicked on in the past and tossing the remainder away, or it could simply be that when asked, people will choose to like your page, but, aren’t really all that interested in the end.

For all the marketing I have done for my shop (which has a link to the facebook page) I can track 90% of the people who ‘like’ my shop back to less than 5 of my friends who encouraged them all to join.

Admittedly, I may not completely understand what to place on my social media page and therefore not be taking full advantage of it. So, I reserve the right to change my opinion of social media and the benefits of having a business page.

How many times do you search for a good residence-primarily based enterprise or only a good opportunity to earn extra cash. For lots of us, this is every day. You get an entire bunch of different e-mails for internet advertising gurus. You additionally get a bunch of e-mails linking you to websites from referrers that did not make a dime.

These people bought a website from somebody that really is making money. They most likely are using all of the stats and dollar figures that the guru creating the site used. Can you still earn money from these, certainly. Remember, to set cheap objectives and it’s essential to get site visitors to that site.

I do not work on a variety of internet advertising today until I take a look at it and there appears to be more than a ninety% likelihood of no less than displaying a profit. I at all times make sure that it’s product that I believe. Last week, I found to a product that I’ve been using and everyone has,the cell phone.

It was a shocker to me too. The company provides a $59.99 per month plan with unlimited discuss, text, and web which is excellent in itself. As I read on, this is all carried out with no contract, no credit test, and no deposit. It nonetheless consists of caller ID,voicemail, call ready, and 3-method calling on a nationwide 3G network.

Like me, most people would say it is a no-brainer. Sign me up. Not only do you get great rates on prime quality telephones but you may as well sign up as a gross sales representative. You actually do not want that many sales to get to the point where your cell invoice is not any price to you. In a short while, with some ambition and energy, it may presumably be your next career.

One thing I can say concerning the cell phone. Everybody over eleven years old has one or is about to get one. All of us are looking for plans with nice features with first rate charges so we don’t go broke. This is one to get in on. Check it out.

Save money on your wireless and earn at the same time.

Adsense is considered as one of the most powerful tool in a website publisher’s arsenal. It enables

Adsense is considered as one of the most powerful tool in a website publisher’s arsenal. It enables a person to monetize their sites easily. If used properly, it can generate a very large and healthy income for them. However if you are not using them rightly and just maximizing the income you squeeze from it, you are actually leaving a lot of money on the table. Something all people hate doing.

How you can start earning money with Adsense can be done easily and quickly. You will be amazed at the results you will be getting in such a short period of time.

Start by writing some quality content articles which are also keyword incorporated. There are a lot of people given the gift of being good with words. Writing comes easy for them. Why not make it work in such a way that you will be earning some extra cash in the process.

There are actually Three Steps to put into mind before you begin writing your ads and having an effective Adsense.

Keyword Search. Find some popular subjects, keywords or phrase. Select the ones which you think has more people clicking through. This is actually a keyword selector and suggestion tool that some sites are offering to those who are just their Adsense business.

Writing Articles. Start writing original content with keywords from the topics that you have achieved in your search. Take note that search engines are taking pride in the quality of their articles and what you will be writing should keep up with their demands.

Quality Content Site. Build a quality content site incorporated with Adsense ads that is targeting the subject and keywords of your articles and websites. This is where all that you’ve done initially will go to and this is also where they will prove their worth to you.

The proper positioning of your ads should be done with care. Try to position your ads where surfers are most likely to click on them. According to research, the one place that surfers look first when they visit a certain site is the top left. The reason behind this is not known. Maybe it is because some of the most useful search engine results are at the top of all other rankings. So visitors tend to look in that same place when browsing through other sites.

Some of those who are just starting at this business may think they are doing pretty well already and thinking that their clickthrough rates and CPM figures are quite healthy. However, there are more techniques and styles to generate more clicks to double your earnings. By knowing these techniques and working them to your advantage, you will realize that you will be getting three times more than other people who have been previously doing what they are doing.

Finally, Adsense has some excellent tracking statistics that allows webmasters and publishers to track their results across a number of site on a site by site, page by page, or any other basis you wanted. You should be aware oft his capability and make the most of it because it is one powerful tool that will help you find out which ads are performing best. This way, you can fine tune your Adsense ads and focus more on the ones being visited the most rather than those who are being ignored.

Another thing you should know. Banners and skyscrapers are dead. Ask the experts. So better forget about banners and skyscrapers. Surfers universally ignore these kinds of ad formats. The reason behind this is that they are recognized as an advert and advert are rarely of any interest that’s why people ignore them.

To really start making money with Adsense, you should have a definite focus on what you wanted to achieve and how you will go about achieving them. As with any other kind of business ventures, time is needed coupled with patience.

Do not just ignore your site and your Adsense once you have finished accomplishing them. Spare some time, even an hour, making adjustments to the Adsense ads on your sites to quickly trigger your Adsense income.

Give it a try and you would not regret having gotten into Adsense in the first place.

This method of advertising your site, I have found, is one of the cheapest and most effective, yet,

This method of advertising your site, I have found, is one of the cheapest and most effective, yet, extremely time consuming and you may not make friends with the sites you use to spread the word.

The world of the internet has many, many, many sites, blogs, message boards, social media sites and more. Those sites have people viewing topics, posting and otherwise browsing. If those people came across a comment, a blog, a posting or any mention of your web page, there is a chance that they may be compelled to visit. If they like what they see, maybe they will turn into a customer. So, if you continually contribute (by posting or commenting) to any of these sites that pertain (even remotely) to your business, it is likely that someone will eventually stop by and use your site.

As I mentioned, there are a couple of pitfalls to doing this. The first one is that it takes a heroic effort (time wise) on your part to advertise this way. I would estimate at least 4-5 hours per day just perusing blogs or message boards so that you can contribute something meaningful to the discussion and work in exposure to your web site. The exposure part is the second pitfall.

Many site operators, bloggers, message forum moderators, etc., don’t like to see posts specifically designed to advertise a web site. In fact, in most cases if you do something like that, the post will be deleted and your access to that place will be removed. As mentioned, you will need to work your site name and URL into the conversation in a backhanded way that actually contributes to the conversation. Including it in your signature (at the end of a post) or referencing it as part of the conversation (while on topic) are both great ways to insure that your web site appears to other people. I would be very careful about including it in every post you make (if not in your signature file).

This method worked very well in the early days of the internet. It has lost some of its effectiveness now because moderators have gotten wise to people hawking their site in the middle of their message forums. People who come to the site to read postings don’t want to be accosted by ads every other message. Please keep that in mind when trying to perfect this method of advertising your site.

Considered today as one of the best and easiest way to earn some money, affiliate marketing is now A

Considered today as one of the best and easiest way to earn some money, affiliate marketing is now Attracting Many People to represent themselves in this type of business. But as competition is getting a bit bigger, you may need some ways to distinguish yourself from the rest of the affiliate marketers. For the major reason that many of your competitors including you are promoting the exact same program, in the exact same zone or on the exact same websites perhaps. Now here are some tips that you may consider in order for you to stay in this business and have the chance to outwit and outplay other competitors of yours.

The first thing is for you to have your own website. It is very essential for you to have your own website in considering affiliate marketing as your professional career. Secondly, potential customers primarily go to websites in order for them to search and sometimes purchase items they were looking for. For the same reason that it is much easier to remember than a certain URL that you may be using and you can just point to your visitors the affiliate page in your website.

Another thing to remember is to have your own Ad. A lot of times affiliates marketers have published the same ad two or three times done by advertisers. In this case, you may email the owner of your affiliate program asking that you make your own ads. This way, people may not become immune to ads, because sometimes seeing the same ads over and over again, may just make your potential customers to just skip it all together. Besides, your primarily purpose is to attract or encourage people to click and read your ads and be curios enough to click through your website.

Step three, have some Products of Your Own which are only available through your website. Once you have your website going, it is important to have some products or services that your customers can’t find with other affiliate’s site. You want your customers to keep coming to your site and the best way to do that is to have something on your site that they can’t find on others. Being an affiliate marketer we must then choose a certain market segment where you can have a potential leadership or at least a strong challenger role.

The fourth step is to build a strong relationship with people who already buy your product. Now, in order for you as the marketer to fully answer the query of your potential customers, it is best to try and buy the product by yourself. With this particular notion, you can better sell the product that you are trying to market. You can share to your potential customers what a great experience you had with the product, and this can make them interested enough to buy the product. You may also be able to provide a support if necessary or you may provide a confident tutorial or steps on how to use the product that you are trying to market based on your personal experience. Entailing this idea is to be totally honest about the product that you are trying to market. If you find out that the program you were promoting is a scam, stop promoting it and inform your readers about it. This will help you build credibility with your lists.

We all make mistakes and admitting your mistake will boost your reader’s confidence in you. Lastly, don’t try to market everything you see. With services such as click bank, it is easy to become overwhelmed and try to market everything in the click bank marketplace. That is not a good idea. It’s better to focus on one market and market products that they would want. This is called niche marketing.

Try also to promote a Certain Product, which conforms to the specifications measured through indications of customer-satisfaction, rather than indicators of self-gratification. It is the customer who decides what to buy and not the company or the affiliate marketer. The company simply produces products catering to the needs and wants of their chosen market segment.

Today, different types of business are emerging from all over the world in a multinational level to reign supreme on their specific market segment that they are trying to dominate, and affiliate marketing is one of them. Affiliate marketing is definitely here to stay and it can become a great way to earn extra or even part time income. However, it won’t happen overnight. Like everything else in life, you’re going to have to put a lot of hard work into it. Good luck to you in your new venture.

To many lawyers, advertising is like a 4-letter word. Lawyer advertising wasn’t even allowed by the BAR until the 1980′s and in some attorney circles it’s still frowned upon. A website is the type of marketing tool that to many attorneys is a necessity, kind of like business cards or a computer. Unfortunately, many lawyers have relied too heavily on repeat and referral clients for the bulk of their career are now late to the table. Inevitably while looking to see the online competition, many lawyers don’t even recognize some of the firms that are dominating the local and regional market for their practice areas. The online universe leveled the playing field for new and small firms, and reduced the barriers to market.

Law #1: “Don’t wait to be recommended by an individual when your website can recommend you to everyone” -Doug Bradley.

I’t usually a good time to market when business is slow and when business is good. Let me explain… A marketing plan is something that needs to be executed consistently, not when it’s convenient. Hope is not a strategy. If you wait until times are hard, how will you afford to market? If you don’t market when business is good, you’re probably missing cases that might be extremely productive for your practice. Marketing gives you options, it cannot create a practice… but it can help keep it fed. Afterall, marketing helps create repeat clientele and referral sources.

Law #2: “The man who stops advertising to save money is like the man who stops the clock to save time” -Henry Ford.

When so many ads look the same, it can be really hard to force yourself to stand out. Bucking the trend is always difficult, especially when some of the most successful lawyers have ads that look like everyone elses. Use your advertisements to show how different you are than your competition, not home much you are the same. At some point, somebody started the trend… by the time it was copied the original person started a new trend.

Law #3: “In advertising not to be different is virtually suicidal” -William Bernbach.

March 1, 2012 -Scot Martin - USA TODAY

At a splashy New York City event, the social-networking giant pitched “Premium on Facebook” as a new way for advertisers to pay to mingle ads across the pages and mobile phones of Facebook members.

“It is going through a massive evolution starting today,” said Mike Hoefflinger, Facebook’s director of global business marketing, speaking at the American Museum of Natural History.

Facebook advertisers will now be able to distribute ads to fans of companies in news feeds, the right-hand column and in a log-out message. These ad forms — what Facebook calls “compelling stories” — will also hit the news feed on its mobile app.

To non-fans, the ads will only be targeted to the right-side column. Facebook had previously begun allowing brands to advertise to their fans’ news feeds.

Along with Premium, Facebook also launched new pages for businesses that include Timeline features.

Facebook’s advertising push comes as growth in advertising sales is slowing. The company, which is preparing to go public this spring and raise $5 billion in its initial public offering, will be under increased scrutiny from Wall Street.

“The stakes get a little higher as they move toward their IPO,” says eMarketer analyst Debra Williamson.

Facebook’s worldwide ad sales grew 104% in 2011 but are expected to climb just 52% to $5.8 billion this year and only 21% to $7 billion next year, according to eMarketer.

Facebook’s new ad program is an important step toward catering to ad agency interests, says Rich LeFurgy, a former chairman of the Internet Advertising Bureau. “It’s a concrete demonstration that Facebook wants to have a presence with Madison Avenue,” he says.

Facebook’s mobile advertising has so far been a missed opportunity. More than half of its 850 million members are mobile visitors.

U.S. mobile display advertising could soar from $630 million in 2011 to $5.3 billion in 2016, estimates researcher IDC. Facebook is the only one “that can challenge Google in mobile,” says IDC analyst Karsten Weide. “It’s going to shake up mobile display (advertising) for a couple years.”
